I would probably score this a 4.5 out of 5 if Google would allow, so it's a 5 based on this system. However, let's get this straight - the food is excellent. We booked it as part of a joint birthday celebration and it's probably the best sushi we've ever had. We're both sushi fans and ordered off the a la carte menu. We had the luxury sushi platter coupled with a few other dishes including the salmon head on a recommendation, which was a delicious surprise. Highlight of the sushi for me was the Smoked Eel (unagi) and the prawn. Even the sides like the fresh pickled ginger and vegetables stood out. Why the 0.5 retraction if I had to? I feel the service and venue could be better to match the quality of the food. We will be back though.

The dining experience here with my other half was exceptional at Umezushi. If you were to come in the evening, then booking an table would be recommended. Even though we booked a table for 3 persons on the rigid booking system online, we informed the staff on arrival an individual could not come and they said it was no problem. Service was professional, straight forward and informative. Despite as every table had customers; it was worth the wait as we knew our food was being prepared meticulously. Every piece of fish or seafood served was fresh and amazingly flavourful, no 'off' smell. The Otoro (Fatty part of Tuna) Nigiri just melted in our mouthes and what a delight it was as well as the Tiger Prawn Uramaki. This was followed by the 12 piece sushi platter that was amazingly prepared that each piece was just an art in its own. We paired our food with a simple green tea and the portion of fish was generous. Sadly for food of such high-grade, we cannot expect the price of our meal to be cheap, and this is the only Con. Would certainly recommend and go back for more.

The best sushi I've had in Manchester so far! The place is very small though so need to book in advance to get a place.

Overall a wonderful sushi experience! The sashimi was really fresh and delicious! The maguro sashimi selection is a must have for starters! The unadon was smoky, fatty and delicious!! Definitely a must try for sushi lovers!

I went to umezushi for my birthday meal with my closest friends. It definitely lived up to all of my expectations! Such a small & cosy place with truly phenomenal food, both in variety and in quality. We feasted on miso, handrolls, sashimi, sushi and desert... and I was blown away with every aspect. The staff were warm and knowledgeable which always helps. Definitely one to try for any sushi aficionados!

Such an amazing and cozy place! Very small restaurant with Japanese atmosphere. You can see all the raw fish selection and the cooking process, the food comes out very quickly and sake menu is very rich and tasty. We got Large sashimi platter and then had 8 extra pieces of white fish and scallop sashimi - fish was SO fresh, it was melting in the mouth. We also had salmon+avocado and king prawn maki which were bigger than average ones you’d expect in a Japanese restaurant but they were delicious as well. Pineapple dessert was quite weird, probably not my thing but I’m 1000% coming back again

Small and intimate restaurant and for those whole like authentic Japanese cuisine this is a must visit. Great menu with wide selection of sushi and sashimi together with daily specials. Staff are pleasant and offer great service. It's one of best restaurant experiences in Manchester without being high brow.

Excellent sushi. The tuna (and all fish) was really fresh. A bit expensive, but you're paying for the quality and skill. Staff are super friendly too!

The best sushi in town! Had their sushi platter which was amazing! It was really busy hence service was slow but Matthew was quick thinking and brought me a bowl of Edamame for free! Dessert was light yet still manages to pack a punch with the umeshu marinated grilled pineapple. Highly recommended.

Hidden gem with the best quality sushi and seafood dishes in Manchester. Lost count of our visits but we always order at least one tuna, salmon dish and something from the daily specials.

Best Japanese food in Manchester! Always fresh, always seasonal, always fantastic. Service and food are both brilliant. Make sure you book in advance, as the restaurant is quite small.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
