My partner and I had visited Greens for lunch. They had a great selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes to choose from. I went for oyster mushrooms with plum source pancakes for my starter and it was amazing! I picked the Sunday roast for my main, the nut roast was great, maybe a little to sticky/stodgy in places , the roast potatoes and Yorkie were both perfect, however the other vegetables were only boiled , I was a little disappointed they weren't roasted. However over all a fabulous place with some great choices.

First time at Greens heard so much about it, was worth all the compliments heard from others. Mains were delicious and top marks for flavours - filo pastry with feta and spinach were mouth watering every spoonful was a delight. Other mains at table was falafel with aubergine which was well received. Starters were hit n miss - my corn cauliflower taco ( was actually sort of pancake ) was good but left wanting more in flavour n taste. Focaccia with cheese and tomatoes was awesome and lip smacking. Desserts were skipped, nothing on menu tempted us and also were satisfied delicious menu ;) All in all 4 stars instead of 5 due to mixed starters and limited dessert selection.

The dishes never disappoint. This is the place to go to if you are looking for a special meal even if you are not vegetarian. Excellent service and great location. Highly recommended.

Went for a meal with some friends. Being a non-veggie, I was a little apprehensive. However I was pleasantly surprised with the delightful starter crispy mushrooms which was likely crispy duck. The Wellington was also excellent. Unfortunately the desserts were disappointing all round. Definitely don’t order the choux pastry - very dry and hard. Very pleasant and engaging staff.

Fabulous service, everyone very friendly.Had gnocchi, not bad, a tad dry but still enjoyable, washed down with a glass of red. Enjoyed the black pudding tho. My friend enjoyed the mushroom wellington. The pudding omg the pudding, miso banana and toffee sauce, bloody lovely. Also tried my friends avacado moose. Sooo nice. Will definitely be back.

Love this place. Staff stuck to social distancing + hygiene rules and all wore masks at all times(love the 'Green's' logo on them) they were very effecient and friendly. Although every table was occupied there was plenty of room in between each table. The food was delicious as I had the sausages + mash but not any old sausage + mash. The sausages were Lancashire cheese, basil + spring onion with an onion marlade which was gorgeous, kale, beetroot + a mustard mash. I asked for mash to be plain as I don't like English mustard which they kindly did for me. A little pot of delicious gravy too- blummin lovely dish. Hubby had the gnocchi with butternut squash in a tasty stew, he wolfed it down and he's a meat eater! We saved money as Greens is in on the help to eat out scheme too. It was a lovely way to spend our anniversary. Thanks Green's staff and thanks Simon for the best scrumptious veggie restaurant.

For a meat eater this vegetarian is superb. 4 star because I wouldn’t normally have a main meal with no meat on my plate. Great service.

Absolutely beautiful veggie food, great service and not crazy prices. The atmosphere felt a little bit flat though - would maybe be better on a busier day

We had a lovely dinner here. The atmosphere was great and felt very relaxed. It was great to go to a vegetarian restaurant and have choice of the whole menu. We had the jackfruit bao buns, the cauliflower with flatbread and the mushroom Wellington. We would definitely return.

Visit Date - Sunday 20th Feb I want to love this restaurant as it is on my doorstep and good vegetarian restaurants are still very rare. I have visited there twice in recent months and both times I have left feeling underwhelmed. Setting aside the interior which is a patchwork quilt of floor and tiling samples and in general need for some TLC, the food was in the main.....average. Highlights: mushrooms with pancakes, and the mushroom wellington were both delicious as was the dairy free ice-cream with the sticky toffee pudding. Lowlights: all the other dishes were shades of mediocre. The gnocchi was poor and lacking in flavour and texture. The sticky toffee pudding was not a pudding but rather squares of a dry (and still chilled) cake covered by an overly sweet toffee sauce. The lentil and nut roast was dry and surrounded by some very insipid vegetables that needed some colour (strange as the carrots on the mushroom wellington were great!). The cauliflower tacos simply lacked flavour, should be 3 in a portion, and the cauliflower should have much smaller florets to make it manageable to eat. There should be much more of a focus on the flavour of the dishes than the overtly flowery descriptions on the menus. I wish it was better, but it was below average. Ending on a positive note, the staff were excellent. Friendly, polite and attentive!

Recommended by a few vegetarian friends for a meet up and this place didn’t disappoint. Although I’m not veggie, I’m not a fussy eater and prefer eating vegetarian meals every now and then. Myself and a friend shared a variety of starters and the taste from these dishes were perfect. Massive fan of the Buffalo Cauliflower dish! 😋 Highly recommend visiting here, regardless of occasion. Hope to be back soon!

Not bad and that from an omnivore. Decent nosh and good sizes. I always think that it's a mistake to create vegetarian food that tries to ape a standard meat dish and though the vegetarian black pudding starter looked like its meaty counterpart, in reality it was a very poor distant cousin in terms of taste. That aside I enjoyed the 3 course meal. Maybe stick to the obvious tasty vegetarian dishes for an authentic experience.

The restaurant’s vibe was fabulous, setting the stage for a memorable experience. We opted for a tabbouleh salad, where the twist leaned more towards a lentil salad than the traditional version, but the flavor remained delightful. However, the sausage and mushroom Wellington had its quirks; an overwhelming portion of mashed potatoes overshadowed the modest two sausages, leaving me questioning if it was a sausage or potato dish. The star of the evening, though, was undoubtedly the mushroom Wellington – a definite winner. Despite some hiccups, I’d recommend this restaurant for its overall appeal and the standout mushroom creation.

Really nice restaurant. Been here twice, once to have the mains and once to have the tapas - very happy both times. The menu is roughly half Vegetarian and half Vegan. Smaller portions but great food. Would definitely come again

Very nice place with very friendly staff. The place looks good and have great vegetarian options and extensive drinks menu - wines, mocktails, beers, cocktails. The pastry with spinach, pistachio and fetas was incredibly amazing! I didn’t understand the tempora really because there was not enough batter and a lot of sauce, felt like chicken orange sauce, but still delicious. I definitely recommend this place and the staff deserves a tip ;)

Really disappointing experience for my friends 21st Birthday. A group of 5 of us visited Greens last night to celebrate my friends 21st Birthday after hearing really good things about this restaurant. Unfortunately none of us were made to have a nice experience. This started with our server appearing affronted at our choice not to get starters; followed closely by his utter reluctance to swap our mash for chips on the Sausage and Mash meal. In light of his unaccommodating and surly nature, myself and my friend decided to share a portion of chips on top of our meals as we would 'only get a few chips in replacement' of our mash (in spite of the portion of mash being rather large when it arrived). Other members of our party ate the Spinach and Feta pie and the Gnocchi, both of which were tasty! However, I cannot stress this enough, the Sausage and Mash was one of the worst meals out I have ever eaten. The food was served to us cold, the sausage was unbelievably stodgy- the only enjoyable element of this dish was the onion marmalade. At no point did any of the servers come to check that our meals were satisfactory, despite the restaurant being quiet at our time of dining. To top off our really poor experience, one of the waitresses rolled her eyes when being signalled not to bring a Birthday Cake over to the table as one of the party members was using the bathroom. Apart from the lovely girl who served us our drinks, at no point during our visit were we made to feel welcome by any of the staff. In fact the opposite is probably true. Shocking service and food makes this a place that I would genuinely never recommend to anyone.

Two stars because... I’ve been in person in the year 2020BC (before corona) and the food and service was lovely. I got takeaway for a birthday and it was completely a miss. Haphazard on the collection (fair enough) but for the price of this (as a take out), the least they could have done was use premium takeout containers - not cheap foils that you’d get from a budget fast food branch. Then the quality was so so. Deserts were a little watery and this ruined the bases of cakes..etc. Mains were slightly ‘too’ oily which all separated and was a mess in the foils. Left much to be desired after praising how good it was - some of the food was also burnt to a point you might return (in person) but as a take out they get away with this. Other restaurants in this price range outperform as take outs so I’d not recommend this as take out at all.

I've been here a few times and always really enjoyed it and this little trip was no different. We had the daikon salad to start (the dressing was to die for) and the roasted cauliflower for main, which was also very tasty. The cocktails were perfect and the service was fantastic, all of the staff were super friendly.

I want to give 20 stars for this place. It is so refreshing to be presented with a menu and not having to filter out all the stuff with meat in. However, there is one MAJOR problem with this place and it's this: on your first visit you choose something from the menu and it is so damned delicious that you keep having it every time you visit! Yes, the food is almost too good. The service is also excellent. Can you open one of these nearer to Lincoln please.

At home, full and content after a lunchtime meal at green’s. Our mobility/accessibility concerns were properly managed and the staff were friendly and efficient. We all chose different menu items and all were delicious, portions were good, presentation was good and there were lovely distinctive flavours. We would highly recommend this as a venue even for carnivores [like us] as the food was so delicious.

Unbelievably good food and I'm not even vegetarian!! Really great place to come with friends and family to enjoy a nice little birthday meal out for my veggie sister. Lovely cocktails too to lighten the mood, always helps... Thank you!

Recently visited Greens in Didsbury with my wife. We are both vegan and are often left disappointed by vegan restaurants. Rest assured you will not be disappointed here. The food was of the highest standard. All three courses were some of the best vegan food that we eaten. Would definitely recommend. The service was also excellent. Thanks for a great meal.

Fantastic vegetarian food. I had the mushroom Wellington -absolutely delicious and one of the best vegetarian meals I've ever had. The menu was imaginative and had a varied selection, and for once I really was spoiled for choice. Service was great too. Coming from the States, I wish the chefs over there would pay this a visit here to get some imagination and derring-do for vegetarian cuisine.

Clever and delicious vegetarian restaurant in West Didsbury that’s been ‘scaring carnivores since 1990’. Oyster mushroom ‘duck’ pancakes are always very good and incredibly like the real thing. Burrata and overnight tomatoes delicious & well sourced. The dessert pina colada cheesecake tasty & playful. A great meal for the entirety of our party of five. Cocktails and wine very good. Staff attentive, friendly and helpful throughout. Highly recommended - whether a carnivore or not!

I'll declare straight off that neither myself nor my dinner partner are vegan or vegetarian, but she does have a restrictive diet, so we chose here as we knew that she'd have a lot of choices. I will be returning. As a meat eater, this was probably the best "(not) beef" Wellington I've ever had in my life. To be honest, I do tend to pick the vegan options when dining out, a little out of curiosity, but mainly because I've discovered they tend to be far tastier than meat options. The setting is cosy, the staff is friendly, and the menu offers a good choice. The price is reasonable too. We had: ·Veggie black pudding, mustard mayo ·Artisan bread, olive oil, balsamic ·Soup made fresh daily ·Deep-fried oyster mushrooms, pancakes, spring onion, cucumber, plum sauce ·Truffled mushroom Wellington, dauphinoise potatoes, gravy, maple roasted carrots ·Sweet potato gnocchi, blackened aubergine, pine nut, chilli flake butter

This place is a really good restaurant. The food is top quality, been 3 times and not been disappointed. Had the burger twice, I need to venture out into the menu more but its too tempting when it's got things like Russian dressing listed on the ingredients. Delicious vegan burgers. Wholesome food. My girlfriend also got the sweet potato gnocchi dish, good food. Service good too. Thanks Greens, great South Manchester restaurant for people who don't eat flesh

This was my first visit and I expect to be back. This was a family get-together including my wife who is a wheelchair user. I had the deep fried oyster mushroom starter followed by the crispy tofu. Both were very tasty. The service was warm, friendly and efficient.

The food here is amazing! I had the crispy mushroom starter and it was so good! I've never seen a vegetarian version of crispy duck before and it used to be my favourite thing so this made me very happy. The staff were friendly and it had a good atmosphere.

I've long been a fan of Greens, going on special occasions over many years. I don't know what's happened but absolutely everything I ate was a nightmarish mismatch of flavours. For Starters the Garlic Bread is dry, hard but sopping in oil. The Halloumi Buffalo Wings were tough and very chewy, overly spicy and the blue cheese dressing tasted like vomit. The Jerk Jack Fruit was slimy and rice was dry. And for desert I had the Chocolate dulche de leche tart with Greek yogurt, which really didn't go together at all. I was really looking forward to a delicious meal, but I was so disappointed. I eventually went home and made myself a sandwich to get rid of the tastes lingering in my mind.

For me, this is the best vegan/ vegetarian restaurant in Manchester. The menu had an array of different cuisine types ranging from Thai-style curry to Moroccan aubergine bakes and classic chunky chips. The portion sizes were generous and the flavours of the food were unbelievable. We were served promptly and by really friendly staff. Will 100% be returning. Absolutely loved it.

The food at green's is absolutely delicious! Reasonably priced and generously portioned dishes. The crispy oyster mushroom and plum sauce pancakes are amazing. The staff are very friendly and even on quieter days there is always a lovely atmosphere. A three course lunch with wine and coffee for two is around £70.

Having greatly enjoyed a meal at Greens 10 years ago, I have always promised myself a return visit. Living 230 miles makes that difficult, but I was able to treat my daughter, who lives nearby, to a take-away this week, for her 30th birthday. She greatly enjoyed the fresh, tasty dishes. I knew Greens would come up trumps!

  • 5/5 Toby P. 3 years ago on Google
Let me start by saying that I am most definitely not a vegetarian. However, the food here was very good and I didn't feel like I was missing out on meat. Menu options are obviously influenced by this, so expect a lot of dishes with cheese or mushroom and also the more robust vegetables such as aubergines, in my case it limited choice somewhat, but that certainly wasn't a surprise and I often have the same issue in a restaurant serving meat dishes. It certainly wouldn't stop me from going again.

The food is very rustic and homely, therefore felt it was a bit overpriced for what it was. It is innovative but the flavours can be more prominent. Servicea is also average, as it wasn't as attentive and responsive. However, would recommend it to anyone willing to explore decent vegetarian and vegan food.

  • 2/5 Nina S. 3 years ago on Google
Pretty average. I was really looking forward to trying Greens, after all being owned by a reknowned chef and being there for so long. Unfortunately didn't live up to expectations. The interior is in need of an update and the food was just ok. Not much flavours, nothing special.
