Stayed here for one night only with a group of colleagues for a business meeting nearby. The exterior of the hotel is lovely, complete with vintage Rolls Royce. Also a great location. The Reception area is light, airy & spacious, with a comfortable, attractive bar. My bedroom was a decent size and nicely appointed, although a little grey. Given the hotel’s central location, the room was surprisingly quiet (after I’d turned the noisy air conditioner off)! Signage to find the elevators appeared to be completely lacking at bedroom level, which is slightly strange. Door closing on the elevators was after a really short duration and they are unforgiving. I had to help an elderly resident who got trapped by them. This needs some attention. Breakfast was well stocked with a decent selection. Online checkout was easy. All staff were friendly and attentive throughout. All-in-all a good hotel.

I came here to stay for 2 nights and it is the best hotel I have ever stayed in! The rooms where very clean and the service was great. On the basement floor there is an amazing pool that also has a spa! The hotel also has a cafe and a restaurant that serve nice things. The hotel has 7 floors - it was the place where the rolls Royce was invented!

I was in Manchester to work for a few days and was recommended to stay at The Midlands. Pros: A beautiful hotel bang right in city centre surrounded shops and restaurants. It has a nice jacuzzi, spa, small pool, gym, steam and sauna room. Reception and restaurant staff were polite. Breakfast is a buffet, with plenty of choices from cereals, pastry, continental to hot full English breakfast. Baskets of apples and citrus infused water are readily available and free in the reception area. Cons: pool not big enough for a proper swim, more like for paddling and for kids. The heating broke down so my room was cold for a night. Reported to reception and was told it was currently being fixed. Was offered another room but they couldn’t guarantee the heating would work so that’s no use. I did not want another cold night so demanded a resolution and was given a small heater. That didn’t work so they replaced it. I was annoyed with the fact that l had to ask for a solution after telling them I was in a cold room during very cold weather. I should actually be compensated after having spent a night in a freezing room! Offering me drinks does not resolve such an issue. I wasn’t the only guest who had complained.

What a beautiful hotel! Rooms are well decorated, spacious and clean. The service is fantastic, all the staff that I came across were very helpful and extremely friendly. The food at the restaurant was top notch, really enjoyed it. I would recommend at visit if you are in the area and need a place to stay. Nice little bit of history about the hotel, this is where Mr Rolls and Mr Royce first met!

Don't let the look and reputation fool you, this hotel is not worth your money. We booked a couple of nights for special occasion. In arrival, reception was mainly interested to remind us that here won't be any housekeeping during our stay. At first the room looked pretty nice, until we found out that the AC didn't work (seems to be a common problem). Since there is no fan in the bathroom, that meant that after the shower, our room was like a rainforest, hot and humid (windows are sealed). I understood this hotel went through a massive renovation some years back, so I can't understand why there is still those annoying mini-bath tubs in the bathrooms, why not get rid of them already. There were also some weird holes in the bathroom walls. Location is kind of nice, but unfortunately that also means that the trams run just under your window. Our room was on a first floor, and since the trams run from early morning till midnight, it's never quiet. There was also some party going on in the hotel and you could hear the music as you'd be in the party room yourself, this went on until midnight too. They didn't even have a courtesy to tell customers about this event. After all the disappointments, we didn't bother trying the breakfast in the hotel, after reading bad reviews about that too. They asked feedback after we left, but just got a reply that they were sorry for the inconvenience and hoped we could give them another change next time! I can tell you it's not going to happen, and I recommend you won't waste your money in this hotel either.

Stunning hotel with a great history. The building is absolutely stunning. Walking around the building you notice gorgeous ornate tiles and the Midland logo (dragon?) scattered around. The location of the hotel was central to almost everything. Easy to walk to most places but also the tram is right outside. The staff were absolutely wonderful. So friendly and helpful. We missed the online check in but checking in with the staff on the desk was so pleasant. So welcoming! The room itself was pleasant, nothing too special but we only got a basic room as we were only here for a night so would love to come back and try another room. Would also like to stay longer so we could look into the spa. Excellent hotel and cannot wait to come back!

We visited a couple of friends staying on the top floor of this hotel and had an afternoon tea with them at the Tea Room of the hotel. This hotel is conveniently located, just two minutes walk from the nearby St Peters Square metro station. The room was spacious and clean. Equipped with all the necessary facilities such as refrigerator, tea making facilities etc. Prices were reasonable in relation to its location, provisions and service. The service of the staff was very good.

Fantastic hotel and a good base to explore the city. Afternoon tea is a must. Breakfast was delicious. We used the spa and pool facilities. Although the pool isn’t large in size it was relaxing the jacuzzi was hot and powerful. Staff in the spa was pleasant. Room was spacious we opted for a suite, there is noise from tram and traffic but we’re not too much of light sleepers so this didn’t bother us. Couple of issues with the room cleanliness. How’re this was promptly rectified, with a discount offered and a round of drinks. If your visiting Manchester this hotel won’t disappoint 😃

Excellent hotel with history. Everything is reasonably priced, rooms are very good and above all the service is second to none. Every member of staff that we had to deal with was first class. The cleaning staff, reception, service in the restaurant all of them. It honestly couldn't have been better. The food was superb from the Mount Street restaurant to the buffet breakfast. The hotel is spotless and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Would definitely go back.

I stayed at The Midland for two nights on business in August 2023. The location of the hotel is great, and the building is obviously very impressive. The front of house/foyer areas are all lovely and staff are warm and friendly. I had breakfast here on both days which was pretty good. Coffee was inexplicably terrible, but the food and range of options was very good. The restaurant where breakfast is served is a lovely environment. Sadly, the room was very tired and needs some TLC. The layout and furniture was nice and had plenty of space, but there were quite a lot of things needing attention.. -the wallpaper is peeling off the walls -there are cracked and dirty tiles in the bathroom and some dubious stains on the floor. -the toilet seat was loose and the wrong size for the toilet (a really annoying and very basic thing) -the curtains were covered in dead bug stains -the AC controller was hanging off the wall. I did enjoy my stay, but I was pretty surprised to see such basic things not being looked after in a 4* hotel which has a pretty steep room rate.

Hotel is very nice when entering, gives a huge sense of grandeur. Breakfast was nice although the coffee was a bit strange tasting. Rooms are a bit on the small size for the price. Not too happy the rooms are not cleaned on a daily basis unless you ask.

The hotel is amazingly decorated. Service was excellent and the staff were really friendly. Tried the Mount Street restaurant but the food wasn’t that great. Breakfast though was perfect!

The most beautiful hotel with incredibly warm and welcoming staff. 4 of us stayed in 2 rooms, one of which was particularly beautiful with a seating area separate from the bedroom. The bed was super comfortable, amenities were fantastic, large shower, tea and coffee in room, a fridge in room and big wins for me - a proper hairdryer and iron! The location is superb for a city break to Manchester as it’s in walking distance of most places. The bar downstairs is fabulous with a fantastic drinks menu and really is the most amazing place to just relax and watch the world go by. We didn’t have either of our rooms made up throughout our stay but on our first morning someone did come in while we were still there so they left and said they’d be back but they never made it back. It wasn’t a major issue for us but I did have to pop to reception on our third night for some additional Shower gels and loo roll which were promptly delivered along with an apology as apparently they aren’t offering daily service at present and we should have been told at the booking stage. Honestly, it was a non issue for us and I get the service sector is struggling for staff so I’m mentioning it in case this is a deal breaker for another person. The corridors did have a slightly funny smell and our sink was a little slow to drain but when you walk into reception you are greeted with the most divine scent of an opulent spa. All in all we loved it and would return on our next city break to Manchester.

Here for one night, first time in Manchester. Beautiful hotel, great service, friendly caring and made us feel important. It was vibrant and busy which made it feel bubbly. Room was little small but we were not fussed. The restaurant was fantastic dinner and breakfast. Can't fault it at all. Thank you

The hotel is by far the best in Manchester. Ancient decorations from the outside with 5 stars spacious rooms and electricity sockets and mirrors fixed in the right places inside the room. The hotel have cafes & restaurant and both offers excellent services. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel located in a prime location 1 min walking distance from the trams station and 5 min from the train station. Nearby all famous piazzas and restaurants. Highly recommended for those who are coming first time to Manchester and would like to enjoy being live in an active area. I have stayed there for three days and made amazing memories with family & friends during my MBA graduation ceremony time.

Beautiful Hotel! The rooms were very clean, large and the beds were lovely and comfy. All the staff were great. I loved the lobby area with an amazing bar area! I also tried the restaurant on the ground floor which was nice as well. Would definitely visit again.

I recently celebrated my birthday at the midland hotel. It is an absolutely beautiful and grand place, in a great central location near to all the restaurants and bars. The room was lovely, clean and spacious! The spa was also really nice too!

The hotel itself is very nice, and the room was clean and pleasant. However, I did find two things very strange. We arrived at 9pm after a long day traveling and were told that there was no restaurants or bar food available. Only room service which consisted of Pizza? I didn't like that and though a major city centre hotel in 2022 would have a better level of service. Also, I went to the bar and ordered a drink myself, and paid differently to what the menu said it was. It was this American-style room service fee thing that I notice is making it's way to the UK! NO thanks! The price we pay is the price you advertise things at. I wouldn't mind if someone delivered it to my room, but no, me stood at the bar and I had to pay the service charge?! Absolutely no way... for these reasons, I would choose not to go back to this hotel in the future.

I went to The Midland for a work event. I spent two nights there and it was so lovely. I checked in with ease. I received a note (that gave an overview of the opening and closing times) with my key card. The room was lovely and spacious. It was a great environment to relax. The breakfast was lovely, I particularly loved the pastries. I tried the gym, there were a range of equipment to maintain your regular gym routine. I tried the spa as well. I loved the Himalayan salt sauna and the steam room. There was also a pool with a jacuzzi. At the spa, I was assisted by Mackenzie and Shane, they are amazing. I would definitely go again if I am in Manchester again.

This was a treat from my wife and was my second visit to the Midland Hotel but my wife’s first. I told her how wonderful the hotel was from my previous visit and hoped that she would love it as much as I did. I shouldn’t have worried. She absolutely loved it. Stayed 2 nights in February for a weekend break and treated ourselves to a spa treatment each. Spa was amazing and the treatments were fantastic. The staff in there were lovely and friendly. Ate on our first night inside the hotel. Service was great and the food lovely. The only negative was the bar prices and lack of enough staff to look after people in the seating area around the bar. There was only 1person wandering around looking after customers and I estimated more than 50 customers in the bar area. Needed at least 2 more to cater for the amount of customers they were dealing with. Bar profits would pay for their wages I’m sure. Won’t put us off returning. Plan to visit again soon. Probably go for drinks down the road . Lots of lovely bars and restaurants on the doorstep.

An excellent hotel, loved our stay. The room was clean and just perfect for what we needed. We headed to the Spa soon after checking in and was welcomed with a warm smile. You usually have to book an hours free spa but we timed it just right and managed to go straight in.

Spent two days at the Midlands for me & my partners birthday; the 2-night spa break. The first thing you’ll notice is the entrance/lobby, it’s beautiful & grand, there’s a lovely circular bar in the middle & it’s clearly a popular place. There seemed to be a lot of corporate events going on during our stay. Honorary mention to the scent tower that made the lobby area smell wonderful. The room; definitely expected more for the price we paid, the room was really small & in comparison to the lobby area was rather disappointing. You couldn’t stay there for more than a few nights, we did see other rooms when we were walking that were a bit bigger but God knows how much more you’ll have to pay for those. You could also hear a tram going past every 5-10 minutes which was really irritating. Despite this, the bed was super comfy & the duvet was great for chilly weather. Aircon? Was difficult to understand whether it was on or not & on one occasion a damp smell was coming from it. I did like that they had an iron, iron board, hair dryer and an nespresso machine with a variety of pods to try. Other than that the room is pretty basic. Breakfast; a delight, the restaurant area is designed beautifully with lots of seating. They had various options, English breakfast, cereal, yogurts, cheese and crackers etc. and they had a chef station where you could get an omelette to your liking made. The hotel is in a great location with St Peter’s Sq a 2 min walk away & loads of shops and restaurants nearby.

You can never tell with these older hotels with beautiful exteriors what inside will be like. In this case I'm glad to report in this case the interior lives up to expectation. starting with an amazing lobby and circular bar area and then the rooms which were clean and tidy and matched the style of the building. Large bathroom with bath with shower over it which was good pressure and juice toiletries supplied in room. Would stay here again.

The Midlands offered us a great stay. Although it is situated right in the centre of Manchester, the rooms are quiet. Although interior felt a bit dated, the service was great. We got offered a Prosecco for the room on arrival. Only advise would be to update the toilets and provision of slippers would be a great addition considering the pricy cost. Bed was very comfortable!

We did a overnight stay with spa, the hotel deco and outside is lovely. As you walk in the reception area is also nice but can be very crowded. The lifts once you get into it smells like a sewage area as do the corridors going to the room. The spa was nice however the showers also smells and very limited space in the changing rooms. The therapist who did the spa where really nice. Breakfast was also nice however if your vegetarian or vegan, there's very limited options and the mix of contamination as you self serve. We saw a man touching his plate with the the beans and mushroom tongs touching which was touching his bacon and sausage. The room are very cold and the carpets aren't the best

Great quality hotel in the centre of Manchester. Nice rooms with Elemis bathroom gels and lotions. Very well maintained and grand hotel. I visited when Christmas decorations were all up and the hotel and it was very salubrious and decadent. I would highly recommend a stay here. Staff were pleasant and attentive but also give you space and not too over the top with pestering you, which I enjoyed.

Location was absolutely perfect for being near the strip! Very expensive to drink there. Our room was not cleaned in the two days we were there. We ordered room service and they didn't tell us there would be an additional £7 service charge. When we finished with the food we were told to leave it in the hall and it remained there until we left which was two days later. It is such a beautiful hotel it was a shame it got let down a little. We were offered 25% off our bill to apologize and the staff were very understanding of our complaints

Very nice hotel with friendly helpful staff. Rooms were spacious and bathroom clean and tidy with a good walk in shower. Ideally situated in Manchester as a base for shopping/drinking/eating. We got a really good deal money wise.

A special thank you to holly on guest relations on the first day of my stay who immediately looked after me with real care and five star service. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and kept. It’s very clean for the age of the building in very good condition, brand new looking. It’s in great location for business as the purpose for my trip but id say if you were staying for pleasure it’s also great. The spa facilities are nice and a great bonus, the lack of a robe unless you’re having a treatment and given no other option was poor considering you’re a resident however after asking on reception this was sorted. The sauna is very small, 4 people max which was uncomfortable and not very hot but that’s personal preference. The staff like Than on reception delivered for every ask and really made the experience here. No matter the size of the hotel and people there must be there, they were attentive and caring and friendly at all times. It is a maze of a place I would add but that’s expected given the size of it. In all if I was to return I would choose to stay here. A lovely leonardo hotel.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Midland Hotel along with a day visit to the Spa. From the moment we arrived it was so tranquil and calm. Every aspect was perfect. The staff are super friendly, the place is spotless. The beds are so comfortable that I didn't want to leave there. The spa is amazing, I had a treatment with Val and it was so relaxing that I almost fell asleep on the bed. The food and service was fantastic. I would recommend a visit

We went for the traditional afternoon tea, and oh my, what a treat it was! The staff are outstanding; very professional and accommodating (even when we arrived with our 9 month-old twins). The sandwiches and cakes were absolutely gorgeous. We are planning to go back again for my boyfriend’s birthday.

From start to finish our stay was perfect. I don't know who is training the the staff on customer service. But they want a medal. It's service you used to receive twenty years ago, I couldn't fault it. From reception, the bar and restaurant staff. Excellent The food was excellent and the standard of Of our room, perfect again. So from two customers that are very hard to please You ticked all our boxes. Thank you. Maria Howell

Myself & mum stayed here for 1 night & from start to finish we had an amazing stay. The room was huge, spotlessly clean & luxurious. Every staff member we met was pleasant, helpful, they really couldn't do enough for you. The best hotel we've ever stayed in, we will definitely be back

Stayed here a few weeks ago. Room decor was dated. Air con in the room didn’t work. Majority of the Spa was closed. Didn’t have make changing rooms or male toilets in the spa. Big queues for breakfast. When finally seated we were sat at a table which was already being used by another couple. When I checked out I asked for an email address to complain to. The receptionist provided it. I’ve given them a chance to respond and offer compensation, but 2 weeks on I have had no response, hence the review. Very poor and not what I would expense from a 4 star hotel. I will not be back

Had a lovely day at the Tea room for my sister in laws birthday. We ordered two of the standard and two of the vegan afternoon tea. They were both excellent. I would recommend getting the vegan one to try as it is equally as good. The service was outstanding as usual. We will definitely be back at Christmas xx

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Room was very clean although the air conditioning and the fan in the bathroom didn't work. I didn't see the point in contacting reception as surely these things should be checked and maintained after each guest checks out!? Also disappointed that we couldn't use the pool. You can only book to use the pool once you have checked in. We checked in at the earliest possible time and phoned to book for a swim only to be told that there was no availability either that evening or the following morning. I'm curious as to how that's possible? On a plus note the entrance to the hotel is very grand and elegant, the staff are lovely and friendly and the smell around the lobby, bar and reception area is beautiful. We had breakfast in the morning, also lovely with plenty choice. The coffee was surprisingly good!

Hotel is nice and centrally located. The concierge are amazing. Bar team excellent. Reception and check in dreadful, wait for hours no chance of early check in. No smiles or customer service. Already fed up after 4 hrs hanging around. Room very small for the money but seems clean. Stayed her before a few times and been happy, so it’s perhaps a one off.

We booked an evening at the French Room for a special celebration. The food was amazing if perhaps a few too many courses for us. All the staff were very attentive and pleasant. The decor in the French Room is beautiful but we felt it lacked any atmosphere. From our seating booth we could only see one other couple. It is all personal taste of course and some would enjoy the privacy but for us there was a definite lack of any ambiance. David and Kay

We stayed at the midland for our anniversary, from start to finish the experience was wonderful. The hotel is beautiful, we had a double bed that was just lovely and comfy, air con worked great and everything was spotless. The breakfast choice was plentiful all fresh and topped up on the regular. A massive credit to your staff from checking in, to the waiting staff even just walking about always so attentive and friendly. We had a spa day the treatments and facilities were lovely. But we would like to say a massive thank you to Will Flower your bar manager he was absolutely amazing, such friendly & knowledgeable about the drinks and also great places to go in Manchester. He is a credit to your hotel and clearly very great at his job. Would recommend the midlands to anyone wanting to get away in style. We shall be stopping by again without a doubt!

Had a close to 5 star stay at the Midland. The location was brilliant, and the style of the hotel looked fantastic. There were a few changes I would have liked however: 1. Despite getting two rooms, for the same price one was much much bigger than the other. We had no idea at the time that we'd be getting two very different rooms. 2. Service was slow - we had missing items in the room, and it took a few calls to the desk to get some of them delivered to the room. Other items never arrived. 3. Breakfast was just too expensive for the quality of food that was available. The full English breakfast containers sometimes contained food swimming in water. All in all it was a good 4/5 stay.

Excellent location in the central business district of Manchester. Very grand exterior and lobby with nice bar area and friendly staff. Good breakfast with wide range of options. Corridors in need of a lick of paint but rooms fine with good quality bathroom: ideal for putting your head down after a day's work and then back out the next day. Reasonable rates given location and quality.

Fabulous hotel, lovely rooms and staff are lovely. Aircon is a bit hit and miss (in that it didn't work and the windows don't open. Breakfast is great, some vegan options, but the veggie sausages are a bit naff, no oat milk.

The staff were super friendly. Great breakfast. Lovely room with comfortable bed. The Christmas decorations were very elegant and spread throughout the lobby area. Special shout out to Sebastian on the bar who didn’t seem phased by the number of cocktails being ordered. Bev M at breakfast was lovely, friendly and welcoming. Overall it was a lovely stay.

Excellent service across the board. Stayed here for two nights as a conference attendee and experienced some of the best customer service I’ve had. From the door man to the waitresses and reception staff, everyone seemed happy to see you and help. Rooms are simple but smart, nice coffee pod machine and products, as well as fluffy robes and a powerful shower. The perfect spot for an exploration of Manchester

Really enjoyed the room and stay, but for having the top suite there were a couple of things. The size was amazing and the refurbishment looks great, we had friends over for tea and drinks and could easily host. The bed is super comfy and we found a little balcony so we could step out for some fresh air looking at the square. However, the bathroom door wouldn't lock and there were a couple of broken fixtures. We called and also went down to reception every day and they said they would send someone up, but that never happened. Overall a lovely experience in an iconic hotel. The suite was beautifully designed with omages to Rolls and Royce.

Very friendly staff, everywhere extremely clean and elegant. Felt really welcomed in from the moment we stepped on to the stairs and are a real credit to the company. The breakfast in the morning was well worth the money and plenty of choice between a continental or a full English. Would recommend to anyone staying in Manchester.

Our whole stay from start to finish was perfect. We dropped our luggage off around 10.30am and your receptionist and concierge service were extremely helpful, took our suitcases from the door and throughly explain the car parking payment. Please thankyou them from us. Upon checking in at 4pm, we were told our room was having it's final checks and wasn't quite ready. It really wasn't a problem to us,  but we were offered a complimentary drink at your bar for the inconvenience.  What a lovely touch, and thankyou. Your receptionist took all our shopping (and trust me there were lots of bags!) And had them taken to our room for us which was really kind. Our room was lovely and the champagne on ice in the room was perfect just as requested. All amenities in the room superseded our expectations. We had forgotten toothpaste, however your team very very fast to get it delivered. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble at all. I had pre ordered some flowers to be in the room to celebrate my mums birthday and the guest relations team were fab. They organised this and the flowers are absolutely beautiful and fitted the brief perfectly. Breakfast was lovely too, the staff in the restaurant were all very helpful and the food was top quality and plenty of choice. Overall the stay was perfect, just what we needed after a busy start to our year. Please thank all the staff for looking after us. We will be back again!

A grand old hotel, in pretty good nick. Didn't get off to a great start charging me an extra "unpaid charge" of £1 that the receptionist couldn't explain (later found out it's some tourist levy). Room, however, was really nice. Cleaning lacking in attention to detail - I had a used fork and a pair of deflated balloons in the corner of the room (random!). Breakfast was terrific - really good buffet in a nice setting. Will probably return.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
