My stay here was absolutely unacceptable. The photos displayed are a gross misrepresentation of what is actually available. •The room was old and outdated. •The heating barely worked, in the middle of winter, no less. •The window does not seal properly, so cold wind still got in easily. •The walls are paper thin, so I heard the music and loud noise from the people next to me. •The pillowcases were stained. •I was refused a different room despite being there early, because they were "fully booked". I stayed because it was only one night and non-refundable, but I was most uncomfortable. Not nearly worth what I paid, even as a budget hotel. Please close your doors, have a full renovation, and start again.

An absolutely disgusting experience. Don't let the glitz and glamour make you assume you're going into an amazing hotel. How it got a 3-star rating I'm not sure. Booked a room with no window (which as a seasoned traveller is fine) but the air con was loud. So loud you couldn't sleep with it. They had hidden a fan in the wardrobe (which had one door not two). The bath had black stains on it, along with the towels as well. There were stains on the ceiling near vents and the bed wasn't even properly tucked in. So at 1am when I arrived I had to make my own bed but didn't have clean anything to have a shower or bath. The walk to my room was littered in black tape on the floor, hanging fire exit signs. The room itself had electrical issues also. When I questioned this all with the duty manager writing all my issues down, he handed me it back and told me to email the company directly for a refund. When I moved away from the counter they started to laugh at me. Definitely an unacceptable response and one I'm certainly not happy about. Disgusting in various ways.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Britannia Hotel in Manchester, and it truly deserves a solid 5 out of 5 stars. From the moment I entered, the staff's warmth and efficiency stood out, making check-in seamless. The rooms are tastefully decorated, providing a cozy retreat after a day exploring the city. The attention to cleanliness was impressive, with housekeeping maintaining impeccable standards throughout my stay. The hotel's central location is a major plus, offering easy access to key attractions and public transportation. Whether you're a business traveler or a tourist, the Britannia's convenience is hard to beat. Dining options were diverse and delicious, catering to various tastes. The hotel's commitment to culinary excellence shone through in every meal I enjoyed during my stay. What truly sets the Britannia apart, however, is the exceptional customer service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction, making me feel like a valued guest. In conclusion, the Britannia Hotel in Manchester is a true five-star gem. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a top-notch experience in the heart of this vibrant city.

!!!!!THE PLACE NEEDS KNOCKING DOWN!!!!! I have just stayed here for 2 nights, and this morning I’ve checked out. The hotel doesn’t reflect what they state on booking.com. When I arrived first arrived the only thing you notice is the out dated deco, that trying to hide with a giant chandelier . The room is disgusting, that room hadn’t been cleaned since the beginning of the pandemic. Cup marks on the desk, no plug sockets to charge accessories, hairdryer with very little power. Face mask found behind one of the pillows on the bed, tissue down the back of the bedside tables. Windows definitely need a clean, so a window cleaner is required. I could go on but it’s not worth the £45.00 a night they state outside. Look online and you’ll understand the BED AND BOUNCE isn’t the place to be in Manchester.

After reading all the bad reviews for this place I was very skeptic, but gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. Check in did take us about 35 min, but we came bit after 2 and loads of people were already waiting there. Our room was clean and nice. With TV, kettle, tea and coffee, hairdryer and bathroom wasn't bad at all either. Interior of the hotel is stuck in a past but I personally liked it. It has a soul of its own. Only thing I was bit annoyed with is the back street. Something like a generator was on the back and when we opened the window you could hear this annoying loud sound impossible to sleep to and my mattress was bit springy as well so didn't have the best sleep. But for the price it's not at all as bad as all the reviews say and I wouldn't mind coming back. Maybe we just got lucky.

Imagine someone knocking at your door at 3am demanding to open? They said they are from "security". Indeed, I called the reception and it was the security! They claimed that there was someone in my room and they wanted to check the room? (I couldn't sleep and was watching the TV.) I was super stressed and proposed to call the police who would be more than welcome to check the room and even search my luggage if they wish to. They didn't like this suggestion and left. I did not come drunk or anything (business trip). I am of a respectable profession, highly educated. The hotel was reserved by the host company. In general, it kind of close to the downtown, but the particular location seems to be a dangerous place. Some strange types were hanging out near the entrance. Rooms are nice though.

I've never been in a situation like this before. When I arrived there were 5 staff and none of them served me. But after that they passed me from one till to another because they were all supposedly busy. After this person took care of me, she asked me for my ID and so on. In the meantime she charged me without asking for my credit card. I received a notification from my bank that very second. And I asked her how come you charged me without asking for my credit card. When I had asked to pay once I had arrived with booking. And then he asks me to pay a second time??? I asked them why when they had already charged me. And they tell me no? At the same time the hotel manager cancels the payment just like that. And he tells me I have no more rooms for you. I tell him fine, so give me written confirmation that the room has been cancelled. He says no, I can't do that. So I said no and he started shouting at me, telling me to get out of the way with his hands. And on top of that he kept sniffling and coughing in front of me. I thought it was disgusting. So I stayed because he wouldn't give me written confirmation. They kept saying that they were 90 rooms short of payment and that's why they charged me. But I told them it wasn't my problem. So on my account I see two payments of their share of different prices, which they couldn't even explain to me why. So the worst experience I've ever had. Customer service is pathetic, from start to finish.

Management has fallen asleep concerning keeping this hotel dated. Coming from Europe.. I had never seen a room without USB recharger for phone. One really one plug. I stayed seven nights... The room was never cleaned...I took out my own garbage and found the trolley with linen and got fresh towels. There was a screw coming out of the floor in front of sink. The staff seem to not care. I asked for a 12 checkout and was asked for £20... Avoid it the location is great but other hotels in area

Would only recommend for people on a tight budget/travelling/just passing through. If you’re a bloke reading this, please PLEASE don’t take your missus here or she’ll lose all respect for you. (Luckily I wasn’t with her here). Amazing location, but you can see why the prices are so cheap. Staying in the rooms that have no windows is really disorientating, feels like a solitary confinement prison cell. The room smelled really strongly of cigarettes. The bathroom had no vent so after a hot shower the room got steamy, and there was no air conditioning so it was so hot I couldn’t use the duvet without sweating. Rooms were hygienic and beds acceptable level of comfort, but the decor was dated and not nice to look at. The walls and ceilings are quite thin so you can hear all the movements of the people in the rooms around you. Definitely get what you pay for though, can’t complain at all with the prices.

Great location if you are hoping to walk to places in Manchester. Because it is in a busy area, there are homeless people and drunks near the hotel at all times. At night, the street noise can be quiet loud and you can hear people fighting. The rooms were okay for the price. There was no bolted lock on our door which was quite unusual to me. Our toilet was very difficult to flush as well and they only provide body wash for showers. To check in, there was a line and the security was slightly aggressive about making people form a line. Felt like i was an amusement park a bit. When we checked our bags, we also had to wait for the manager to get our bags, rather than immediately helping us after waiting in the line and it being late. Either way, it was an average experience and better than a motel or hostel.

The only good thing about this Hotel is where it is located in the city. The staff was slow, there was no window in our room, the radiator wasn’t working properly so it was either completely off or so hot that you would burn yourself, the room wasn’t cleaned nor did we get new towels and the bathroom was in bad shape (filthy and a few things were broken). The breakfast wasn’t worth the price either. Definitely not worth the price.

I loved the building, not very well preserved on the inside, but I found it very pretty. The room was huge, it was also a little bit basic and old, but it was clean. The breakfast was good, they don't have a lot of options but what they did have was very good. The hotel has a lot of night life around and a lot of cool restaurants. Very good place to stay 1 or 2 nights at a good price.

This place looks so much better in the pictures than in reality. We stayed only one night as we had a reservation elsewhere for the rest of our stay. We booked a double room and called in advance to make sure we could have a double bed. However once arrived we were told that they had overbooked the hotel so there were only twin rooms available and we had to pay an extra fee to have a superior double room. The room was pretty simple but didn’t convey cleanliness at first impact. The smell of smoke (being smoking allowed) was not pleasant. The room in fact could not be opened more than just a few inches for security reasons which meant that all the smoke would have stayed in the room. Decided not to smoke. The corridors were full of drunk people inhaling laughing gas off balloons. Fairly cheep and really central but you pay for what you get. Such a shame because the building has so much potential!

Bedding was clean but that was the only positive thing. Room had no light, just a lamp in the corner of the room, the bed itself & all of the decor was really old & falling to bits, mattress was old so you could feel all the springs, bathroom door has a chunk missing out the bottom corner, curtains weren’t big enough for the windows by a good foot either side so daylight streams in on either side couldn’t check in until 4 so went to their bar & the World Cup match was on but it was blaring out of about 10 speakers so you couldn’t even hear yourself think. Food was edible but not good quality. Because we couldn’t check in until late we could store our bags in a room near reception & when I went to collect my bag the member of staff was using it to prop the door open then kicked it out of the way so he could shut the door. Lifts are really slow so queues form really quickly. Just overall not a good place to be honest.

I wasn't expected too much but when I arrived I was wowed by the impressive entrance hallway with its grand staircase and impressive chandelier. Expecting a hotel in decline I found everything very well maintained and clean. Check in was efficient but a little annoying to have to show ID. The room did not have a window but we knew this already. Room was clean with two comfortable beds, flat screen TV, kettle with tea and coffee. Clean towels and an additional throw. Bathroom was clean and the shower had good pressure. There are some lovely spaces including a bar at the front with very reasonably priced drinks. There is a great value restaurant with lunch time deals. Location is brilliant right near Piccadilly Gardens and direct trams to places like Media City UK. Getting to the airport is easy too. This hotel exceeded my expectations and I would go back if in Manchester again.

Location of property i would say is the only good thing. Stayed here last weekend, thankfully it was only for 1 night, Paid over £200 for our stay. Room 622, lift only went up to level 5 then had to walk up a narrow staircase with our bags, room was really small, broken caster on bed, room was roasting with being at very top of the building and there was no AC or fan, stains on the ceiling, bathroom showed signs of age and some damage around the bath, said there would be toiletries provided, this was 1 bar of soap only. only 1 hand towel and bath towel for 2 people. Toilet did not flush very well.

The room was very basic, with decent facilities that all functioned well. It was clean. It had a bath and hot water, with a shower. After a day of airport waiting it was welcomed. The bed was placed away from any plugs, which means if you're someone who likes to "scroll and sleep", you may need to move it. Security was good. There was an incident where police were arguing with people on the doorstep about some situation, but the bouncers kept things calm and feeling safe inside. Staff were very friendly and helpful! The bar on premises is a bit rough, and quite expensive in places. A single of a fairly poor spirit puts you back around £4.50. Breakfast was around £15 extra. To be honest, it was a bit disappointing in places, coffee was very mediocre, sausages were cheap, bacon was a bit chewy, eggs were undercooked. Orange juice tasted heavily watered down. - However, the hash browns, fried bread and Cereal selection were good!

I’m Impressed! Reception was very cooperative and friendly, Food was impeccable and portion sizes were up to scratch. Only thing to be weary of when staying here is the noise of aeroplanes passing but that is to be a given when you’re 10 minutes from an airport. From my experience it is a very good Hotel and would recommend.

Well located and clean. The hotel is slightly dated, but not in a bad way. I was impressed by its grandeur, the central staircase and chandelier is impressive and we'll worth a look from top and bottom. The rooms are large enough and well appointed. When booking you can choose whether you want a window or not, being a frugal person I chose not to pay for that facility. However we were in the top floor and our windowless room still boasted a large skylight so we were able to see the sky and judge if it was raining, overcast, sunny, night or day so it was win win after all. There's a large bar attached to the hotel and we made full use of it. We'll be coming here again as it represents excellent value for money.

Stayed one night while attending a gig in the city. The staff were friendly on arrival, I was asked if I would like a free room upgrade as my room had no windows. Upon agreeing it was only under the premise that I buy breakfast!! (That's not free!) Room was decent, clean & tidy. Only issue was it was extremely HOT & there was no air con, a fan was provided but all that does is push hot air around. Breakfast was very salty & lacked any real taste.

Booked very last minute, had to pay an extra £20 for a room with a window as it was hot, even with the window the room was still very hot, bar was lovely and staff very friendly however when we went down for breakfast the staff was not so friendly I understand they need to check you have paid for a room but think this could have been done in a more friendly manner, when my partner went to use the toilet in the dining area as he opened the door a staff member called Lisa shouted "for gods sake, I've come in here to clean because you are eating breakfast" other than that basic standard rooms and service for the money. (£110 per night)

I arrived at night and the reception staff name Jazeel warmly welcomed us, he even upgraded our room, which I really appreciate after a long hour travelling by coach. The check in process was fast and easy. Good hotel location, spacious room, and clean. The downside: the room is old, still using separate hot and cold sink (one is too hot and the other one is freezing cold). Maybe some refurbishment will be great.

Decent hotel. Accidentally booked a room without window ( nightmarish, don’t do that, some booking websites don’t specify very clearly so double check) and staff was happy enough to upgrade me to a better room for a reduced fee which I appreciated. Fine for a short stay if you need to be in the city center as location is great. Lobby is beautiful. Didn’t have breakfast there so no idea about the food. Overall, not as bad as what some of the other reviews say. Is it a luxury hotel experience for a family of four ? No. And the prices reflect that. Is it fine for a professional/solo trip to MCR ? Absolutely.

Looks nice when you first walk in, which is good as you'll spend the best part of 40 minutes standing in a queue waiting to check into your room. Make sure you allow extra time for this, it was such a disappointment. I had a double room with no windows, room was clean but very dark as only has 2 lamps and no lights on the ceiling or walls. Bathroom was also clean. It was a pleasant enough stay in a good location.

Main thing I can say is make sure you ask for a non smoking room as we found out they still allow smoking in part of the hotel. We don't smoke so we didn't find it very pleasant as it absolutely stank especially when you have a room with no windows. You can hear pretty much everything from your neighbours, walls must be made of the old school toilet paper, you could even hear people playing music on their phone. The air con didn't work either.

The hotel was in a great location, very central and walking distance everywhere. It was clean as well. The shower was warm and good water pressure. That’s kind of where it ends. Our first room had a bad smell so we changed room and the second had no window. The room was very run down and had not been upgraded or refurbished recently. It was very hot in the room and there was no air con. The whole hotel stank of weed. The hotel was understaffed, so queues were very long at reception and they never answered the phone. The lifts were so slow as well. There was no housekeeping so we had to ask for toilet paper. Checkout was 10am….outrageously early! Grand place to rest your head if you don’t plan on spending any time in the room, but I wouldn’t stay again. I’ve stayed in nicer hostels.

My room was clean, looked newly refurbished. Lovely bathroom, fluffy white towels - tea making facilities and hair drier. Comfortable clean bed, I enjoyed a quiet good nights sleep. Excellent value for money in superb location. I cannot relate to other reviews as in my experience this was a great room for the money and will come again !

I needed a cheap room to rest my head before catching a train from Piccadilly- for just over thirty quid, Britannia answered the call. Upon arrival, I had to wait over thirty minutes to check-in, which wasn’t the best start. LOCATION: Smack in the city centre. The Arndale is a five-minute walk away, and Piccadilly station about ten. ROOM: I booked a double without a window, and so was pleasantly surprised to find that I had one. It was a fair size and had a bath as well as a shower in the en suite. The telly was a bit crooked- not ideal for viewing. There were one or two cleanliness issues that made me question the overall condition of the room, including energy drink cans on the window ledge, long stray hairs scattered about and a suspicious, dried-mucus-looking stain in the bathroom. FACILITIES: I enjoyed a lovely deep bath and a wide, comfortable bed. There were plenty of hangers, though they were difficult to detach. Basic tea and coffee making facilities as well as a small hairdryer were provided. FINAL COMMENTS: I got a surprisingly good night’s sleep given the city centre location.

City Center location is great. Hotel entrance and architecture is great. Had low expectations but without hot water in a shower that only has 1/2 water pressure and not enough heat in the room, and extremely poor customer service, I would think twice about staying here.

Location of hotel good but very noisy on a night due to drunken people, sirens & buses. Doesn't help windows not sound proofed & drafty. Room was clean but worn. Bedding clean but mattress springy. Duvet thin and we were cold due to draft. There was a blanket in the waredrobe, but it looked like a 1950's will scratch you to death material! Fire alarm went off at 12.10am, and before everyone had evacuated, siren was turned off. Very casual attitude to a false alarm. Upon reading more reviews it happens often! Breakfast is shockingly bad. You've had it if you're a vegetarian, as all I could eat was beans, tomatoes & toast (allergy to eggs) for £9.50!! No decaf coffee either, so very limited choices for dietary requirements. Experience of stay for 2 nights for the quality of this hotel was expensive, was expecting better for £295 for 2 people

Location is great as it’s 5 minutes from city centre. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The room size was good with a lovely large window - although only 1 part of it opened ever so slightly, a decent bath/shower, tv, vanity unit, hairdryer & kettle etc. Only downfall is that there was only 1 or 2 plug sockets and these were across the room or hidden in the closet - not a big issue but means you would have to unplug the tv to charge your phone or use the kettle. Fan was provided for the room which helped because it was very hot. Beds were comfy and clean as was the room in general. Good working lifts available to use if you are placed on a higher floor. Overall the hotel was quiet and reasonably priced for our stay.

I stayed for 6 days in September 2023. The water drain of the toilet was broken. Even though I told them 3 times, they did not fix it. I could not leave the hotel because I paid the fee in advance. They do not attach importance to customer satisfaction. I would definitely not recommend it for accommodation.

Elevators are a nightmare at this hotel. Small for the number of people that need to use them. Unreliable. Can move to any floor without being summoned. Long waits for them. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Wifi only available for free in lobby. Once you hit your room, you get charged for it.

Hotel is a bit dated, but the building is amazing if you’re into architecture. We had two family rooms on the 4th floor, the rooms are very basic, really spacious, and clean. Breakfast was really nice too. Location is fantastic

Biggest issue was the beds, they were really not comfortable. The pillow is so thin I had to fold it 3 times to get any reasonable height on it. The rooms were very basic. Staff were not necessarily the friendliest and could have been more welcoming. We were lucky and got a decent sized room with a little window, some rooms have no windows and are tiny. Not in a rush to stay here again.

My experience was good value for money. The price for my booking was far cheaper than other hotels. The hotel is tired, which was expected, but has some really nice touches, and is in a great location. I booked a single room, but had a double bed with a nice view of the city (this may have just been lucky). The room had good amenities and was clean enough. The main downside is the thinness of the walls, as I could hear my neighbours in their bathroom far too clearly, and this woke me in the night. Overall, a good stay that I would recommend.

I knew nothing about this hotel when I booked it. I needed a central hotel and this certainly fits the bill. Stayed over for business. The hotel for a night or two is absolutely fine. Its quite an impressive building, with a very old fashioned feel. Its worth reading up on it, quite fascinating. Clearly going through some work, but that didn't affect my stay. My room was spacious and had a new bathroom fitted. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. Only negative, the restaurant was closed in the evening. I had hoped to dine in and save going out. But again, for what I needed it was perfect.

Located in the centre of Manchester and ideally situated for shopping, eating, drinking, theatre going etc.I checked in late (about 10.30pm)but there were no problems and the process was smooth and efficient. All facilities were in good working order (e g.no lifts out of action). I'd booked a twin executive room which was spacious, clean with en suite bathroom. TV, tea & coffee provided . Internet access was available at an extra cost which seemed unnecessarily mean. The room was quiet and I slept well. Excellent value at £49 for the night.

The Hotel gets a lot of bad reviews but is perfect for what it is. Cheap, budget, city stay. Its clean, its comfy. It has a bar next door and adjacent, an all you can eat buffet offers breakfast and lunch at a good price. If you just need a base camp for a few nights exploring Manchester its spot on.

Myself and my partner spent 3 nights in this hotel. There were so many things wrong about this hotel from the get go. There was no hot water to shower and there was one towel in the room even though it was booked as a ‘double room’. The bedsheets were disgustingly dirty aswell as having a fly, fly out from under the pillow when I lifted it up. I noticed after the first night I had rashes on my legs presumably from bedbugs. At night the hotel was really loud and there was a lot of banging, from upstairs aswell as in the corridor. So therefore we didn’t get much sleep. The elevators were not working which for myself and my partner wasn’t an issue as we were on the second floor but there was 2 elderly people struggling to walk up the stairs and they were staying on the 4th floor, which I felt extremely bad for as it is a hotel and it shouldn’t have these issue. It should be able to accommodate everyone. I do understand these things happen but I have seen in previous reviews others who have stayed said the same thing and clearly this is due to the hotel being outdated. The hotel is located in the heart of Manchester so it’s only a couple of minutes walk to the top attractions.

It is a budget friendly hotel. You get what you pay for. The staff was friendly and quite helpful. The lady from reception Ush was extremely courteous and understanding she explained me everything in detail about what can be expected and what cannot . Housekeeping services were not offered throughout my stay as per their policy but the staff was open to help me by changing my room. It was a nice experience.

The Britannia... 200 pound I'll never see again. The reception staff are rude and very unhelpful, I hope you've packed 3 forms of ID and your latest water bill or they won't let you stay, even after you've paid. The security on the doors treat you like criminals which is very fitting as the rooms are more like prison cells. We had the privilege of paying an extra £15 for a window, the scenery of a brick wall was very much worth it. Once you get past the interigation stage that is check in, you may think, well I'm only here to sleep anyway.... wrong! The walls are paper thin so not only can you hear next doors thoughts, you've got front row seats to their adult activities too. If you're lucky enough to be put on the top floor like us, you've got 2 options - wait 4 hours for the snail like lifts to arrive or risk cardiac arrest climbing the never ending flights of stairs that would challenge Mount Everest! The only positive I can take from this is knowing to avoid it next time!

Hotel is in an unbelievable location, 5 minutes walk to shopping centre and surrounded by bars/restaurants so not lacking in choice. Staff where nice and helpful but didn't have much interaction so can't say much regarding that. A major update is however needed to the hotel in general. Its incredibly worn and dated from the entrance all the way upto the rooms. The room itself was clean but incredibly poorly finished and furniture is in need of some serious TLC. Bed was seriously uncomfy which was the worst part for me. Room does not have many amenities and note that if you are going to be staying more than one night the room will not be cleaned/anything replaced during your stay. WiFi is an added extra also, I didn't check the price as we didn't require it but in today's day and age its a bit of a slap in the face to have to pay for it. Overall its a budget hotel so you pay for what you get but this building is gorgeous and could be something more. Disappointed in general but glad we tried it as we now have a comparison for pricing.

Royal-style interior but definitely needs redecorating. Service is nice and helpful. We had a room without windows (sea view photowallpaper instead) but clean and tidy. Great bathroom with bath and normal hose shower, but no toiletries (just soap). Big minus-walls and doors were not soundproof and we could hear all the doors banging, neighbor signing etc. Breakfast is good and bottomless but choice limited.

Looks very impressive upon entry, especially considering the price paid. There was a long queue at check in, which went down slowly. Would like to have seen higher staffage to speed this up, especially at this busiest time of day. Staff were friendly though. Room was good. Quite basic but clean. Beds were fairly firm but comfortable enough, nice pillows. Welcomed with everything one needs for an overnight stay. . Would stay again, especially for the budget prices.

The location is great, very easy to get around and pubs and cocktail bars within a 5 minute walk. The hotel was dated but clean, staff were friendly enough. Room was small but clean, shower very powerful and warm, bed not that comfy but alright for a quick one night stay.

Brilliant location. This hotel must have been glorious in its time. Unfortunately the restoration hasn't been sympathetic. Tired, run down an in need of some proper TLC. The staff were nice and efficient. I do feel they could do with an extra pair of hands.

Decent hotel but the customer service is seriously lacking. We had to wait 30 minutes to get something out of the cloakroom due to the front desk being understaffed and left something behind as we were in a rush and we had to find it ourselves. We've been trying to call through for days at all different times to check if the item is still there but the front desk simply doesn't pick up the phone and there's no way to get through to anyone that can help. We still haven't been able to get through to them! It's a shame as this hotel is situated in a beautiful building and the rooms are relatively nice and clean.

This hotel was genuinely the worst I've ever been to. The staff were very rude and seem to treat us with suspicion, which was bizarre. There are security guards outside the doors at night, like a nightclub. The food was poor, the rooms dated and bare. The room size was good though and the location is great. My advise is avoid unless you really have no choice.

2 - 3 stars. Stayed last night at the Britannia Hotel - the interior is nicely presented and the staff were very friendly but the checking-in process seemed quite convoluted causing larger queues. The room itself could do with a bit of redecorating as the interior design was quite outdated but that's just nit-picking. There were cigarette butts on the windowsill despite there being multiple "no smoking" signs and I'm not convinced the people in the adjacent rooms weren't smoking as we kept getting whifs of weed and cigarette smoke all night. There was a total of 3 plug sockets including the one the TV is plugged into, and another which is on the floor in the wardrobe. This is probably fine for most, but we like to take phone chargers/Nintendo switch/laptop and there wasn't enough sockets. The radiators were impossible to turn off so we spent all night sweating with the window open as far as it would go (not far). It was one of the less ideal night's sleep I've had due to the noise from the window being open. My husband liked the bath, said it was a fairly decent size with good water pressure, we hadn't tried the shower. I personally found the pillow uncomfortable as I prefer a firmer pillow, but my husband was happy so it depends on preference. Check out was at 10am, which we were aware of but not prepared for after less than 6 hours sleep. Probably wouldn't choose to stay here again but there's worse hotels out there.

We had a wonderful time at the Britannia Hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and the location was excellent! The hotel itself was filled with charm and interesting decor. The hotel amenities were exquisite and considering how central it was, it was very quiet at night. My travels partner said "I love it, it's great".

Going to be honest, I booked this place for a weekend away because it was cheap and central. My expectations were low. And honestly, it's pretty awesome. Playing absolutely horrendous dance music in reception. Obviously used to be a fancy hotel, it shows through the horrific yet characterful redecoration. Make sure you go to the top of the stairs and look down, is like an Escher painting. Absolutely hellish in the best way possible. Loved it! The room was basic. Didn't want anything more. It did what it needed. Honestly, loved it. So much bizarre character. Staff seemed nice. Bouncers on the door on weekends, they were friendly. Great central location. Seriously, just book a room. It's mad. Will be coming back and recommending.

Room was good size and shower had good pressure. Not fancy but not horrible. Great location and great breakfast. Good value.

Service was brilliant. Breakfast buffet was okay, some good options on offer. The room was a good size and had almost everything you'd need for a visit. Was missing an iron and ironing board and the single beds were a bit small for me, I'm probably just too used to my kind size bed at home but every time I moved at night I'd wake up because I felt like I was falling out of bed. But it was a comfortable bed. Right in the middle of town so only a short walk to most shops I needed and right on the edge of the Gay Village which was great. The whole atmosphere was really nice. I'd probably opt for a window room next time as I felt like I could hear too much of what was going on in other rooms in the windowless rooms.

I didn't go to the hotel. Just the breakfast and it was the most horrible and expensive breakfast I had so far. Bacon looked well past its date, at 9:30 in the morning there were no more scrambled eggs although the chef did arrange a portion as my partner can't eat fried stuff. The sausages were of a very poor quality taking into account I paid £30 for 2 adults and a child. We arrived at 9:30 and by 10am all was gone from the buffet and we were not advised of this before paying which was a shame as we could've used the "all you can eat" advertising sign outside. Actually we had only time to hardly get the minimum we could get. Must say the little croissants were amazing and the staff did make the difference between we leave or stay. Although I need to say that for a hotel service and the price we paid is not a place we will recommend.

This is a nice hotel for the location. There is so much to do in the area and you can get just about anywhere walking or on the tram. Keep your expectations to a nice place to lay your head at the end of the day. Security is great. Really nice if you're respectful. Take their job seriously if you're not. Just be nice. Beautiful entry and stairs. Tina are warm when it's warm in Manchester. Would suggest small fridges to be available for an extra charge for cooling drinks and chocolate purchased to take home. It was very warm the week of our stay. As a whole, I would recommend for the visitor who wants to be in town and ready to venture at a moments notice.

Standard 3 star hotel, clean rooms, nice hot water, basic hospitality from the staff, can’t complain! Rooms need re vamping as walls are yellow and cracked but very comfy beds with an amazing location. You get what you pay for! I was happy with our stay :)

The room was too hot for comfort, no airconditioning, not even a window. I heard from another guest that she did have a window but couldn't be opened. This is something they should work on. Service was okay but only after getting very upset because the booking didn't go according to plan. But the location and the splendour of the hotel is fantastic.

One of our frequent hotels due to the affordable price. Check in was easy, the girl on the front desk was incredible and very polite. Sadly I don't know her name as her name badge only said 'trainee' We were given on of the newer re-done rooms with the fake skylight which really brought some light to the room. No chair at the dresser though, and lipstick stains around the cups made it a bit inconvenient to make use of the room. Slamming of doors all night gave us a few startled awakenings, especially at 4am. Can't fault the staff though, even the security on late at night are always polite and helpful.

Would definitely think twice before booking this place again. One staff the senior in the building had no customer service or hospitality skills at all. Shower head was not attached on. Without even checking the problem one of the staff had the nerve to say I damaged the shower head 😡

Great location, terrible room. Paid £100 for a room with dirty carpet, walls, bathroom was full of scum. When I complained was just told hotel wa full, wasn’t offered any kind of resolution (free breakfast, or a discount) Would go as far to say it’s one of the worst hotel stays Iv had. There is a hostel round the corner, for £49 and it’s way cleaner. Wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me.

Reasonable price, retained original decorative features both inside and out. Large and clean rooms. The check-in process is very slow, there were 7 of us, 2 children and photo ID was required for every one of us. Luckily we could Scrabble this amongst online photos etc, but an odd requirement. The rooms had thin walls so let through a lot of noise from others during the night

Now this is the worst hotel I have ever been to. From the beginning... staff very unfriendly and ignorant. Check in took about 40 minutes cause I have been left 3 times by receptionist. He just went elsewhere. Then he mixed up reservations trying to give me a room without windows (sic!) or pay for an upgrade.. obviously I had a normal room booked right from beginning. When I said that he suddenly couldn't find my reservation so I had to provide booking number. Luckily I had it with me! Rooms are awfully dirty and old. Bathroom was full of hairs. There was some dirty towels thrown outside someone's door on the corridor and no one even bothered to pick them up. I've checked in about 5pm on a Friday and they were still there 1pm Saturday!! I was staying for 2 days and no one even attend to try to clean my room, change towels or even top up a bloody toilet paper!! I went to town and came back just to find out my door key card wasn't working. Happened before in many hotels but to get it to work was unforgettable awful experience. Went to reception just to stand there and be ignored. When I finally got someone she said he was to busy and pointed another guy. After next ages of waiting i finally had my room access unblocked and I have been told that cards are working one day only. So if you are staying longer you have to go through this again every single day! Next thing is so called security!! Made me feel like I was in a prison not a hotel. Guy sees me walking outside for a cigarette and 2 mins later asks me what am I coming back to hotel for. Name, room number etc.. absolutely joke. I sound handle once but he's done 3 times in a space of 2 hours max. Honestly guys, learn from my mistake and avoid this place. I will never ever stay in any Britannia property again. Boak!

Location is amazing and that's it... Waiting to confirm booking took just over 45 minutes. Around 15 people on the front of us, 3 desks open but on 2 of them looks like to be learning. We had a 2 different double rooms on different floors. Both of them was clean but design and equipment remind me 70'-80'. We spend only one night sat-sun and most of the time been away so just spend sleeping time in the hotel. Paid £121 per room booked 4 days in advance so for hotel in city centre in my opinion is a good price. Next trip we will try different one to be honest.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
