I stayed at the Pendulum for one night in a classic double room and it was excellent. The wifi was great, I was able to work remotely and do Teams meetings. Room & bed was large and comfortable. Check in was easy and staff service was friendly. Easy walking distance from Piccadilly and to city centre. Great value for money, highly recommended.

Based on some reviews, I was a bit hesitant booking this hotel but still took a chance and was pleasantly surprised. Although the room itself is quite small, it was clean and the bed was comfortable enough to have a good night's sleep. The bathrooms were clean too. The breakfast had quite a lot of options and we especially loved the hash browns and mushrooms. Everything tasted fresh. I would definitely recommend this place based on its proximity to quite a few attractions and shopping centres. It's within walking distance of the Arndale shopping centre too.

Very poor experience. I was given a single room to the price of a double at least; the size of the room is for a 10 year old child. The bed side is ridiculous and the toilet and shower room is 1 x 1 m ( not exagerating). Hot weather, very hot small room, close to the street(noise when people passing, unable to leave the window open, also not safe). I have raised my concerns with reception staff, however, instead of exploring option to have a normal accomodation, I was given the option to complain on Monday over the phone. No car park, you have to pay if you park a few minutes in front of the hotel and for a longer period the park close to the hotel £16.50/ day. Definetly not what expected for the money paid and will never go back

Friendly helpful staff - the nicest part of this hotel. Rooms are in shocking need of maintenance. Compact space with an odd layout. Light switches in random places, no bedside lighting. Exposed bolts. Mould in bathroom and damaged furnishings with paper thin walls. Ok if just looking for a bed for the night. Location is decent. About a 10min walk to city centre

I highly recommend this hotel for its location, service and peaceful. 15 mins walk from Piccadilly Station and 10 mins walk from “the gay village” neighbourhood. Rooms with all the necessary: hairdryer, wide shower, comfortable bed and TV. The receptionists have been so kind with us. Restaurant has good offer of British dishes.

Stayed here before. Well worth upgrading to club room if staying more than one night. As a bath fan- love that there are baths for a good soak. The beds are comfy, showers 🚿 hot and room has all you need- tea, coffee, hand wash (bring own shower products), TV, hairdryer etc. Garden Bar area is really nice.

Can't fault the service, friendly, professional, and helpful staff. I found the room to be a bit cramped as an individual with mobility issues. Also, I struggled with getting in/out of the shower due to the step-up and slippery shower tray. I spoke to reception and they apologised that they couldn't change my room due to being full, however, they did get me a shower chair which helped, fair play. As I spent 3 nights, I put a sign on the door saying I didn't want my room cleaned during my stay, and on the back of the sign, it says that the hotel offers a free drink for those who did this, excellent idea. Would definitely stay again, but I would upgrade to a bigger room to meet my disability needs.

Great little single room for a night when travelling to Manchester for work, had everything I needed in there. Tom on reception was outstanding and found me a room when my other hotel double booked, he genuinely saved my bacon! Location is great for popping in to the centre of town, loads of bars, restaurants and parking nearby.

Good location, very quiet considering the locality. Reception area, restaurant, bar areas clean and modern with great staff and service but room very small with poor lighting (some bulbs also needing replaced) , dated and dilapidated one of our party called it "his cell!). No electric points or lights neat bed... made it very difficult to navigate the room to go to bed! Not a good night sleep... bed very soft. Surface areas in room sticky but the kettle was absolutely gleaming inside and out with a fantastic selection of drinks and biscuits. Bathroom OK first look but closer inspection odd corners with cobwebs and lack of attention to detail. Really wasted space with a deep fake wall between bedroom and bathroom which could of added some very needed extra storage. Space so tight couldn't use chair at desk! Breakfast a saving grace!!!! Lovely selection of quality hot and cold food plus different juices, pity coffee machine broken but plenty jugs available and being replenished frequently to stay hot. At this current time... wouldn't recommend or stay again by but because based of breakfast and locality worth keeping an eye on any updates from hotel or newer reviews that highlight some changes having been made.

Good all round. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was plentiful and decent value. Location was good as its only a 10 minute walk from Picadilly Station. Colin on reception was very helpful with directions etc. Overall happy with it all. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Was there for a work conference. In itself the hotel is okay, it’s in a quiet place easy to reach. Plenty of parking spaces and walking distance from amenities. But the hall where the conference happen, along with the toilets, the eating space was not very good or up to the mark. Overall a very average hotel, the staff was good though and helpful.

Gives basic and generic a whole new meaning. Meeting room not hoovered, dirty cups, I mean someone elses lipstick on a supposed clean cup is not a good thing, dire food, cold drinks. However the only saving grace was the lovely lady who kept popping in to check we were OK.

Only visited for a training day in a conference room..the rooms were lovely. Lots of space and well equipped rooms to host events. Staff are lovely and really helpful. Actually wanting to come back and experience an overnight stay sometime.

Wow! Is all I have to say. Stayed here briefly as I travelled to Manchester and it was super! I recommend you definetly getting the breakfast to kick start your day, huge selection but the taste is incredibly great, I mean, it cured my hangover. A comfy stay, close to any place you need in walking distance and super lovely staff❤️

Good hotel, situated to the rear of Piccadilly station. Excellent location, rooms are a bit tired with typical age related issues but they are clean and we'll presented. They are what they are. Breakfast is spot on, buffet style, both full English and continental. The staff are fantastic

In my fifty years of international travel, I have never experienced such poorly maintained plant. This is a classic example of 'sweating the assets'. We were a party of eight, four rooms all of them badly in need of maintenance. One of the rooms had 'Please clean me' scrawled in dust on one of the walls.Public areas OK. All interactions with the staff were good and the food was reasonable. There is much better' value for money ' options in the vicinity.

Very dated rooms. The rooms are like a pokey box you cant swing a cat if you had 1 with you. Carpets are worn whole decor is to a low standard. Its like staying in a poopy halls of residence but having to pay £150 night to do so. Location is OK. Doesn't even touch the bar of a basic travel lodge.

Very pleasantly surprised. Not an expensive hotel so we didn't have great hopes. Read reviews that the rooms were small and very warm. We had a twin room and it was a great size. Luckily we didn't have a warm evening and they gave us a fan for the room but definitely needs some air conditioning. Beds were comfy. Shower was powerful which is always a plus. On top of that friendly staff and in a great location. Issues - They said in their facilities that they have parking. If you click on it and explore it further it will tell you they have a public parking area next to them and you have to pay. Short awnser is they don't have their own parking. - They have a bar but it closed at 22:00, shame and in my eyes pritty pointless. - No plug sockets near the beds so you can have your phone on charge while your in bed. Overall though a good value easy place to stay. I would happily come here again with friends.

Literally the worst hotel I have ever visited! Avoid if you can! I paid over 200 € per night and got a room in horrible condition: door frame broken, toilette flushing not working (attempt to repair was made, anyway it still wasn't working properly and I needed to flush 5, 6 time to at least bring the toilette in a acceptable condition), furniture was ripped off, wall paint was peeled off, bed sheets were dirty, mold on the window frame, suspicious flakes on the walls and a great view to a construction works. Additionally, on the last day, I needed to leave early to the airport and couldn't stay for breakfast. As I asked on the reception if there is a possibility to have at least a coffee or a small breakfast to go, since I paid for it, the answer was (after the guy starred at me like I was asking for something for free) " There is nothing I can do for you" ! I am really sorry, but this is not what I expect for 200 bucks a night. Since this was a business trip, I will file an official complaint.

Location is key so they nailed that one. Rooms r tiny, beds ain't the most comfy however it's not bad for staying one night probably couldn't manage 2 on that bed. Carpets throughout the building are really dirty and stained . Staff are friendly enough can't really fault them. However we waited over an hour to have our food brought out and when they did eventually bring it out they brought starter and main together. Not sure what that was about when we only ordered olives and bread for starter . Food was less than average think chef mic had something to do with that one (microwave) 🤔. On the plus side I did get a cup of tea for free this morning.

I’ve stayed here many times and it’s been great. Reception staff always very friendly and helpful. Would’ve given 5 stars but unfortunately, when I was having breakfast on 15/9/23 there was a waitress with long brown hair and glasses who was quite abrupt/short/rude to me when I asked her a question.

Rooms are very much like a Premier Inn. Some currently being refurbished but clean and tidy. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Bar prices good for a hotel. Within a short walk of central Manchester. No hotel parking so have to use nearby NCPs which are quite pricey.

Overall good place parking was a little difficult to find but affordable. Only main issue I had was the rooms didn't have many plug sockets for devices and no plug sockets near the beds to charge mobile devices. Overall a minor issue but still great hotel.

Rooms/hotel in general does not look as advertised on the website. Given that the hotel markets itself as a hotel/conference centre, I booked this hotel expecting quality rooms and a general high quality experience. Especially considering that it cost me £108 for one night. When I arrived at the hotel I was disappointed to discover that the room (which was shabby and dirty feeling with a worn out desk/marked and scuffed walls with old tattered wooden furniture) was an old converted ex-university dorm, that had had a double bed squeezed into it. There was barely any room to move around the bed because realistically the bed was too big for the room. There was noise coming from outside all night as the other half of the building is still university dorms with students coming and going at all hours, and there was noise coming from the corridor all night because the walls must have been paper thin. What little sleep I did get was uncomfortable because the mattress was dreadful and there was no air conditioning in the room. There was an old toothbrush on the second floor roof outside our window, and the general interior of the corridors once you get past reception resembles ‘The Backrooms’ (look it up). ...but hey! The swinging pendulum was cool I guess!

Un-renovated uni halls with rude staff and lots of extra costs This “hotel” was clearly uni halls and they have not done much renovation since. The decor is old, lifts are crackly, everything is dusty and rooms are tiny. We arrived and the lady at reception was pleasant and confirmed our room booking and breakfast. We went up to the bedroom and we were shocked, the room was tiny! We were back at reception after a few minuets and to tell them about the lack of space in the room. They clearly get this all the time and bring out the designated person to deal with this, Michelle. Michelle looks at you like you’re stupid and simply tells you that’s what you booked and you have to pay extra for more space. We saw Michelle telling another customer the exact same thing later that day, and it’s all over the reviews. It’s clearly protocol to bring Michelle out when someone mentions the tiny sized room, that no one can fit in comfortably. I am a slim lady and could hardly walk around the bed, see photo. We were not prepared to pay extra to changed rooms so we just spent a lot of time out the hotel. On the first morning we went down to breakfast, which was booked with the room on booking.com and confirmed by the lady at reception on arrival. When we arrived at breakfast we were told we were not booked in. I asked them to check and we got told to pay for it again. Pawel, the guy at reception, was extremely rude to my partner, and just shouting at him that we were not booked in for breakfast. Meanwhile, Jorla, the manager of the restaurant, was trying to over explain everything to me. I told him to let me speak because the customer is always right and he still kept talking over me and speaking at me. The staff need a LOT of training in customer service skills and need to consider each situation not just always ask for extra money. I highly recommend not staying at this hotel and booking into a Premier Inn, where you’ll get a lot more for your money.

A room possibly just about sizeable enough to swing a cat in, and rather extortionately marked up for the weekend. Felt like how I imagined a quarantine hotel to be. Contrary to many other reviewers’ experiences, the room was clean. I can also confirm the pendulum itself did indeed swing reliably during the entirety of our stay. Oh, and breakfast was alright too.

Reviewing the Manchester Conference Centre rather than the hotel side. I held meetings here and I can't praise the place enough. Upon arrival, the staff behind reception were incredibly polite, and extremely helpful. The conference room I used was clean, well laid out and again the staff were extremely conscientious, coming to see if there was anything we needed, if we had enough water carafes etc. I am more than happy to see that all the staff here are aware of the importance and meaning of 'customer service'. I have been to many places where that is seriously lacking. If you are holding meetings, I would highly recommend you get in touch with the Manchester Conference Centre. I'll definitely be back.

Rooms are very small - have stayed here a few times for events. Both times bar has been very slow. Went to book for an event next year - I am pregnant and we will have our little one then - and we were only given the option of having two double rooms which would mean one of us cosleeping with our baby as they do not offer family rooms or space for a travel cot.

Pretty poor overall. The hotel seemed understaffed and not prepared to help. The rooms are dated and very small with toilets coming away from the walls and very small double beds. The friends we were travelling with had a broken window in their room and the staff were not very helpful when they asked to be moved to a suitable room. Location wise, it’s fine and the breakfast is ok (apart from the long wait for eggs and mushrooms)

Booked a night here whilst in Manchester for a concert. We got given a compact room which wasn’t what we paid for. Tried speaking to the staff and they just said there wasn’t anything they could do, they said the manager wasn’t available until the next day and just to email them about it later if we want to take the complaint further, meaning we’d still have to spend the night in the smaller room. To add to that the rooms were grotty, unkept, outdated, plugs hanging off the walls, the wooden furniture was rough to the touch and dirty, the carpets were dirty, black mould around the shower. Avoid at all costs.

Although our room was on the fifth floor the noise from a party downstairs was incredible and went on into the early hours. The fire alarm was set off four times around midnight with lots of very unhappy residents in reception. Certainly will not stay again

Sadly a very outdated hotel. My friend had booked a room and it was really not very pleasant in terms of the decor. The bed had hair in it too. When she complained she was kindly given another room but again the new bed also had hair everywhere. Unfortunately I would say avoid this especially as they charge a lot for what’s basically a terrible room

I was in Manchester for one day for a work meeting. The hotel was 8 mins walk from the station. Maps helped me find my way there. The reception. was kind, the environment was very clean and smelt nice and the meeting room was great. Their breakfast and lunch were good and the female waiters who waited on us were very professional.

Central hotel with parking nearby £15 for 24 hours. Check in very efficient. Room in need of upgrading as very shabby, pillows need renewing, work station sticky cups etc need pulling off stickiness, carpet stained and coffee stains down toilet door frame. In bathroom shower gel on wall needs cleaning when filled up as the outside of bottle has dried shower gel on it. Reception made aware of the above.

Didn't use the rooms as only there for a convention. Cracking centre piece in the hotel. 15 minutes walk from city centre but plenty to see and do on that walk so could easily turn into an hour

Good location, clean room, and really lovely staff. Sadly, there's not enough sound proofing. Terrible nights sleep. The door to my room was next to a dividing door in the hall way, and every time that slammed shut, my door did the most aggressive rattle - it sounded like someone was going to break in or take the hinges off. It happened all throughout the night, jolting me awake constantly. The room was also awkwardly hot and with me being on the ground floor, I didn't feel safe opening the window when it would be unattended. Food was also not great, with the pizza tasting like cardboard (just like a £1.50 frozen pizza, but for £10.95). The breakfast is also not worth the price. The hotel itself was okay, but the lifts felt unsafe and I don't believe they'd provide good access for a wheelchair user as they're quite small.

  • 3/5 Laurence B. 1 year ago on Google
Good for a budget hotel. The room was comfortable and could have done with some maintenance as it was very dated. The staff were all excellent, attentive and friendly. The breakfast was ok. The location of the hotel was good and 7min walk from the station. I would just recommend this hotel because of the staff.

Great location (not far from Piccadilly Station and walking distance to O2 Apollo). Room very small but comfortable. Staff go above and beyond- especially Edgar.

Amazing experience every time I stay here! Great value for the price! Hotel staff and management is what makes this hotel top and worth staying with! Plus they are just a few minutes walk from almost anywhere you need to go to around Manchester center.

  • 3/5 Ruth-Ann J. 1 year ago on Google
The staff are all lovely and clearly take a lot of pride in their work, the location is also great. Breakfast in the morning was nice, and the pendulum itself is interesting! The rooms, however, are so incredibly dated and stuffy. They feel a bit grubby, despite being clean. The walls could do with a lick of paint at a minimum and honestly it needs a real face-lift. You get what you pay for, it's fine for a bed for the night, but someone really should spend some money to update the rooms!

Really good budget hotel, I stayed for Manchester Pride and was an amazing location. The room we had was very stuffy and felt like there wasn't much air circulation and the door wouldn't lock initially but other than that the staff sorted it straight away and everything else was great. They have a bar and restaurant and a lovely garden to sit in when eating.

The room was colder than I would expect as the heating was very basic, for what we paid we would of expected onsite parking and more consistency as a friend paid the same price and had a much nicer room. The amenities where very basic; no glasses for water, only shower gel in the bathroom, the lamps didn’t work only the main light, shower was difficult to use as the temperature fluctuated, but the beds where very comfy. Location was good for what we needed to do.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
