After reading the reviews about how quiet the rooms were and that previous issues with room cleanliness had been resolved, I decided to book 2 nights mid-week in the Townhouse Hotel for business. After a long train journey I arrived at the hotel feeling very tired and looking forward to a good night's sleep, which I shared with the girl on reception. She said that she would put me in one of their quiet rooms on the top floor and wished me a good night's rest. I went to my room and was looking forward to getting some sleep, as I had a full day's training with my company on the following day. Unfortunately, as the night drew on, I was aware that the windows were extremely thin and I was subjected to shouting, sirens, traffic noise and the sound of noisy bars across the way. I got no sleep until 5 am in the morning and had to go to my training feeling extremely tired and unable to concentrate. There wasn't a 'do not disturb' label in the room, so I was aware on my return that the cleaning staff had been in and had removed the wet towel and made up the bed. I then attempted to get another night's sleep, as I was exhausted and had to travel home the next day. I had another night of noise, including, at one point, the sound of fireworks being set off. I woke up early the next day and starting getting my things packed up. As I spread up the bed I noticed a mark on the duvet. Pulling back the sheets I was horrified to find that the duvet was covered in dried-in stains, that resembled blood droplets. I could not believe that after the cleaning staff had been in the day before, and had made up the bed, that this was remotely acceptable for a 4 star hotel. I took photos of the bed, as I wanted to make sure that anyone booking this hotel would be aware of the lack of cleanliness and the fact that they have still not resolved the issues with the cleaning staff, as assured after a previous review. When I checked-out, I spoke with the man on reception and told him just how disgusted I was at the lack of cleanliness, and that 'I wouldn't let my dog sleep on a duvet like that'. His response was to wish me a safe trip home and to exhibit a general lack of interest in my complaints. Overall, I would not recommend that anyone stays at the Townhouse Hotel in Manchester, and to book alternative accommodation that is both clean, professional and quiet.

Booked a weekend in a suite to celebrate our anniversary and cannot fault our stay at all. The room was huge, gorgeous lounge, massive bathroom and then big bedroom with amazing comfy bed. The addition of the fridge and treats was a total treat. The staff, especially the manager, make this hotel shine. An amazing welcome, always greeting when you walk past and there to help when you need them most. 5 stars…fabulous place. Hubby owes me another trip so can’t wait to be back soon!

Great location, very walkable to lots of touristy sites. The room was more than spacious for a solo traveler like myself. Clean, modern, and comfortable. I did find it slightly annoying that it was difficult to reach to the sockets at the bedside. The stopper in the bathtub did not match the drainage hole, which was a pity considering that I really wanted to take that bath (which I did in the end anyway).

I don’t think I’d ever stay here again. For the price of almost £170-200 a night I expected a much better experience. Firstly the location was really good, really central but the cons outweighed this. The night staff who we called when our room wasn’t cleaned was very nice and he bought us new towels very quickly. Cons: Front desk day staff: he was very blunt and had no hospitality at all, didn’t even ask us how the stay was after we checked out. Room: very damp smelling room, no toilet roll holder so the roll was just laying around, no light in the bedroom area just night lights, AC shakes the whole wall and is impossible to use at night if you want to get some sleep, no water was provided or any other amenities, hairdryer was dated and didn’t heat up, iron had to be asked for and was one of those cheap ones that didn’t iron properly, noise from the street was very loud even though we were on the 5th floor we could hear noise until 5am so be warned you won’t be getting a good sleep. Carpet was very very dirty. Room cleaning: no one came to clean the room during our stay even though we had a clean room sign outside which is just pure negligence. Overall the place is very dated and the service isn’t great at all. The only thing it has going for it is the location but there’s plenty of other hotels around for a similar price to choose from.

Rooms are very dated and in need of a drastic upgrade. Toilet wouldn't flush, tv remote was broken and there was hairs, toilet paper and a toothbrush under the bed.

Stayed with friends at the hotel & were very pleased. Have no complaints about our room as it was very nice. Great place to go shopping from as it was in the middle of the city. Pete was a great member of staff who was very helpful & excelled in his service. They do have lunch & afternoon teas available, sadly we had plans to eat out though.

Outside look was really impressive. Looked fairly good and old. The breakfast was pretty good I must say. The room was small but not annoyingly small. The A/C was weird as I couldn't decipher whether it was blowing cold or hot. The bathroom was shambolic I have to admit.

This was my first time visiting Manchester and the staff and hotel set the tone. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Kate at the front desk has to be the best concierge I’ve met, and I have travelled a lot for business and pleasure. She had several suggestions for bars, cafes and restaurants. Made our stay 5 stars! The breakfast was delightful and high quality. The host and servers were amazing. The room was enormous and quiet. Beds and pillows super comfortable. The room was well equipped, no oddly placed electrical outlets. There was even an iron and ironing board which is rare these days. The shower was very tight but there was a nice bathtub to make up for it. Location was unbeatable. Would definitely recommend.

Room was very spacious and comfortable. Was a bit tatty, particularly the bathroom. Radiator was either boiling or off so it was hard to keep the room at a comfortable temp. Aircon unit was quite noisy even when off. Breakfast was very tasty, and quite a bit of choice. Great location really close to a variety of restaurants. All staff were really friendly and helpful.

Came into the bar and had a great interaction with Chris and Annalise!! Amazing customer service. I've never stayed at the hotel but after my interactions with the staff, I will definitely consider staying at the hotel :)

For the price, this is excellent value! Great location. Spacious room and bathroom. Nice breakfast. They really need showers with hoses though, like most hotels have in Europe.

I love this hotel! The location is brilliant (just around the corner from Chorlton National Express bus station), the staff are lovely, the rooms are really nice, the hotel is labyrinthine (got so confused when coming up the stairs, but in a good way), the breakfast is just what I needed, the noise levels - non-existent - nice and quiet). And Lorna on reception (hope I got your name right) was lovely - I remembered her well from the last time I stayed). I am trying to find a bad point - the only thing I can think of is that the coffee served with breakfast wasn't strong enough! :D I will return!

Stayed here for 1 night with a group. The location was perfect! Ideal if you want to go on a night out and don't want to worry about getting taxis back to the hotel. The hotel was fab! Rooms where excellent and staff where very pleasant, helpful and super friendly. Felt like we were in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast the next morning was beautiful, it's buffet style and constantly being refreshed. Would highly recommend this hotel for a weekend trip away.

Lovely hotel, clean and tidy, spacious rooms. Breakfast was nice - whatever we could have that is :) (coud do with halal/veg diet) nice big windows and not noisy considering it was in the city centre. Good access to public transport. Quick check in and check outs, no problems. Was just a one night stop over. Definitely will book again if needing a hotel in the city :)

Perfect location for drinking and eating in Manchester. Room was pretty good but couldn't see out of the window and a big stain on floor but bathroom nice with cool demisting mirror and very comfy bed. Didn't get chance to have a drink at the bar but looked sophisticated

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Townhouse Hotel, and I can't stop raving about my wonderful experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that set the tone for an unforgettable stay. The hotel's location is unbeatable, nestled in the heart of Manchester. I had easy access to all the must-see attractions, restaurants, and shopping districts, making it the perfect base for exploring the city. The room itself was a haven of comfort and style. Impeccably clean and well-appointed, it boasted modern amenities that catered to every need. What truly stood out during my stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction, offering valuable recommendations and promptly attending to any requests. Their genuine friendliness and professionalism made me feel like a valued guest. The Townhouse exceeded my expectations in every way. If you're looking for a top-notch hotel in a fantastic location, impeccable rooms, and exceptional service, then this is the place. My stay here was exceptional, and I will certainly return.

I recently stayed at the Townhouse Hotel for work and could not have picked a better hotel. The staff were fabulous especially the F&B Team in the morning for breakfast. The rooms were spacious and clean. Just what you need after a busy day. The hotels location is fantastic! You are a minutes walk from China town and the Northern Quarter and it was great to be able to have a wander around these places just minutes from the hotel. I would definitely return :)

The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean, the station was easily accessible, and there were good restaurants and pubs nearby. Furthermore, the staff were all friendly. (Especially, Rebecca, thank you for your kindness!) I had the best experience in Manchester thanks to this hotel. I would stay at this hotel again on my next visit to Manchester.

Good location, rooms are nice but beds are small. Had to move room as bed was broken. Service not great here, when we moved rooms it wasn't clean and we didn't get our room made up. Came back to bar after dinner around 22:50 and bar had closed early and they wouldn't serve us. Way too pricey for service very much paying for location. Staff don't seem to care.

We have come for a hen weekend and all staff where extremely welcoming. Rooms have been lovely clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely again staff and accommodation were clean an tidy. Freddie was the one that really stood out for us. Extremely friendly, he was very professional and also he remember that some of us came back to the hotel by them selves. Amazing!

It was only one night but from booking in to leaving the service was first class. The room was large and the bed was to. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. I checked out at 11am but my train was at 4pm. They looked after my luggage whilst I was shopping. Nothing was to much trouble. I will return.

It's a nice hotel. Staff are friendly but our toilet was blocked and we told staff 2 times and it wasn't sorted. We was offered coffee on the house because of it but this was as we was leaving, would've just preferred for the problem to have been sorted. Breakfast was alright, Similar to decent pub food. Basically a slightly nicer Premier Inn but the price difference wasn't worth it.

Amazing gem of a hotel! The rooms are lovely, decorated tastefully with a touch of elegance. Celebrating my husbands 40th so the extra touches where fab! The pool at the top of the building was a wonderful touch. We had evening drinks and breakfast. Service was 5 star - the duty manager couldn’t do enough. Very close to visit Manchester night life. Highly recommend

Well run Hotel. Rooms were very pleasant with a TV, and full bathroom area. Great Bar area in day time, and dining area for Breakfast. Food very good but can only say so about Breakfast as we went to a big restaurant to celebrate my son's 50th Birthday. Great fun had by all.

The executive double room was a really good size. The bed was comfortable & enormous! The room & bathroom was absolutely spotless! The lovely sisters on reception were warm & funny & welcoming & it was a pleasure to meet them. We couldn't be more pleased with our stay. Thankyou xx ❤️

Literally the worst breakfast ever! 👎🏻 It was busy and I understand that.. however the waitress said grab a seat anywhere you can, if you can find one!! Undercooked bacon and sausage with congealed beans is not a good look! Room very average and over priced, staff don't speak unless spoken too.. better hotels for the money

  • 5/5 Adnan H. 1 year ago on Google
The location of the hotel is perfect. It's about 10 minutes away from the train station, less than 5 minutes from the coach station, 5 minutes from Piccadilly Gardens, and many bars and restaurants nearby. The breakfast is sadly limited on weekends - this is a slip in standards over the years. Rooms are cosy. Comfortable beds. I'd return if the price is right.

What a great place. Room was great. Staff have been fantastic. Nothing too much trouble. And went out of their way to look after us. And for the first time ever, the hotel toaster thing made perfect toast first time!! Definitely will be back!

Deadly spot to stay, booked the suite and it was unreal. Had the living room, massive bathroom and the comfy bedroom. In a great location, staff are lovely, rooms are clean and price isn't bad at all! Would highly recommend staying here

We had a lovely stay here for one night to see a gig, but would also gladly use the hotel to stay for work. The bed was comfy, the room quiet and clean, and a lovely shower. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better stay!

Fantastic stay last night! Lovely welcome by the lady on reception, very helpful and informative. Rooms were lovely although we didn’t spend much time in there the facilities were great. Breakfast was lovely this morning although your sign in the lifts about busy/quiet times make no sense. All in all it was well worth the money, staff friendly and 2 happy guests who would return without a doubt. P.S the car park discount vouchers don’t work. Machine just says they are invalid.

A pleasant, quiet venue for informal meetings in the city centre. No table service in bar was evident though and possibly the worst flat white I've ever tasted. Hot milk essentially. May have been a lack of training or experience but that didn't change the price.

Stayed for 2 nights, used the hotel as it was located close to the event we were attending. Room was satisfactory, bedding clean but could do with touching up around the edges, painting, replacement carpets etc. Found previous guests litter behind the curtains. Staff friendly and helpful when required.

This hotel is really awesome. It's clean and located in a quiet neighborhood, which I totally loved. Also, Rebecca at the front desk was amazing! She was super friendly and really helpful, making me stay memorable. She even gave some great tips on cool spots and yummy places to eat nearby. Really appreciated her recommendations!
