First-great and helpful staff but... never slept in dirty place like this hostel. It was really disgusting. 100% nobody clean my room from weeks! Fluffy dust everywhere! Do not ask about windows or toilets-NIGHTMARE! I travelled a lot but I did not see nothing like that even in deep Africa. The worse experience in my life and will never come back. Will try forget about this place as fast as possible.... Do not pay for it-it worth NOTHING or less!

So I booked here for 3 nights and it was very cheap. I wasn't expecting much at all but somehow they managed to disappoint. The rooms are dirty, there are either no plugs or only one is the room, and the girls bathroom was a tip. The toilets were broken, there were multiple buckets collecting water from the ceiling, and the sinks were dripping and full of dirt. I was carrying around my toothbrush and had to wait for shops to open to use the bathroom. The beds were just metal frames with springs. I know that everyone in my room regretted staying there. I checked out after one night to go somewhere else. The only saving grace is that the staff are amazing and really make you feel welcome.

I ignored the negative reviews before booking this hostel as I was on a short trip and wanted something close to the centre but do I regret it! This was honestly the worst hostel I ever slept in. My dorm looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months judging by the amount of dust around my bed and the only two toilets available on my floor were disgusting. The lack of decent facilities was appalling. There is no working lift. The lockers are really small and many of them have broken doors. There were way too few power outlets in my dorm. We couldn't turn the heating off either. The sinks have been leaking since forever judging by the reviews. The toilets are incredibly old and noisy, the showers smell bad and the temperature of the water cannot be changed. More importantly, as a solo female traveller I didn't feel safe at all while staying there. Virtually any guest can access the shared showers for instance - the doors of which are partly see-through and don't lock. You had to get naked and then dressed in the freezing shower room knowing full well than somebody could come in at any moment. I also should probably mention that I stayed in a female only dorm, yet a guy spent the night there and staff never apologised or gave an explanation for that.

Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. The dirtiest place I’ve ever seen, full of homeless and junkies. After 2 nights there I was sick for a whole week. The pictures are nothing like how it looks in real life. Staff also weird and unfriendly and lots of dodgy people hanging out there who don’t seem to be guests. The floor in the room was really dirty and old, the bathrooms locked rotten, only cold water, broken showers, broken windows. Proper horror movie. Don’t ever go there!!!!!

Absolutely horrible. Would never come back and would not recommend. The beds are sinking, the blanket had disgusting blood stains. The toilet were covered with urine stains all over and the Niagara is placed high and dripped on me. Out of four showers only one was half functional, even in that one the stream is so weak you have to touch the wall to wash yourself. The showers are shared, they have fixed temperature and you have to push a button every 15-20 seconds to get water. There is no soap there and the windows are constantly open. The room was very dusty and clearly haven't been washed at least 2-3 weeks. Everything I put on the floor got really dirty. My room key stopped working twice, what sent me three floors up and down half clothed. The bar was excellent, but closes at midnight. Breakfast is very dull: bread, boxed margarine, boxed jam and some cereal. I was very disappointed and almost cancelled my stay, wouldn't come back.

The only positive thing is that the hostel is located in the city center. Other than that, nothing positive can be mentioned about this hostel. The hostel is nothing like you see on the pictures. When we arrived we firstly were given a room without a lock and which was already a complete mess. The beds were not made up, there was mold on the curtains and nothing at all was maintained. When you walk through the hostel you quickly notice that the building is in such a bad state that it's not worth maintaining it. A lot of thing were broken, the showers aren't working, a lot of sinks in the toilets didn't have running water, there were filthy sheets on the corridors etc. We were with a group of 10 friends and we do not have that high of a standard, but this hostel was ridiculous. After the first night (we arrived late so didn't have another option) we left the hostel to find another place to sleep. I would definitely recommend to stay at a different place

Location is good because it is a short walk from both bus stations and train and tramway. Beds could be better, but aren't that bad either. There's only one dual power outlet per room and no lockers inside the dormitory, although there are small ones on the corridors. Toilets are their weakness, not clean, smelly, not enough for too much people, they should hire someone for cleaning them properly since no volunteer is going to do it well (no one would do that for free). They make this up with a nice free breakfast. Social areas and atmosphere are good, party vibes, makes it very easy to meet people. Not the best hostel I have been but I enjoyed my staying.

My phone was stolen by one of my roommates. They had cctv footage of the whole incident. Did not cooperate. That is aside from the fact that the accommodations are completely filthy and tattered.

I was on my honeymoon & the good people here went above and beyond to take care of a couple yankees. Great location & value. Would happily stay here again!

Not one to complain/write reviews - however this was the worst hostel experience I've ever had in the 5 years I've been actively travelling and staying in hostels. The staff were pleasant and doing their best, however the owners are not providing enough support nor care enough about this business. 1. There was no hot water in the shower. Because it was the weekend, their maintenance man was unavailable to fix this. They also did not have consent to call a plumber to resolve this issue which meant cold showers in the ensuite for our dorm. 2. Key cards were not working properly. One time, I had to go up to the room (on the 3rd floor) and back to reception 3 times until a key card would work. 3. After 2x nights without hot water in the shower, they moved me into my own room - GREAT! However still no hot water...Also, I was woken at 2am by a member of staff turning the lights on and standing over me in my room to check I belonged there as they had screwed up the bookings and had double booked the room. I believe the guests that the room was also booked for ended up sleeping on a couch in the common room.... The owners need a reality check for what they think they can get away with considering how much they are charging per night! Absolutely disappointed with this experience.

Loved my stay at Hatters, though it lasted for one night. The girl at the counter was super helpful and friendly, sadly I don't remember her name. The breakfast was modest but worth the money. The rooms were rather huge and accommodating, and they were clean. I had a good stay.

This hostel is the dirtiest I've ever seen!! The toilets didn't get cleaned for three days so that there was no toilet paper left and used Tampons and other rubbish was laying all over the floor cause the bin was more than full. The showers didn't had any water pressure so that it took ages to wash your hair. Also the beds were the most uncomfortable you can imagine! After one night I had bad back pain because the mattress was really hard and you could feel every single spring in your back. The location is great and the staff was super friendly but that are the only good things about this place.

As hostel I feel it was a great experience . The room was clean. I received daily housekeeping. I did not know that towels were at additional charge. But it was only 2 pounds English currency . I didn't . Mind to much hehelol. And met .Some interesting and pleasant people male and female. Staff was very pleasant and courteous. And I really liked the 15% discount off at the restaurant bar next door. My experience was 4 bed dorm . For me it was perfect.

The service was very friendly, warm and welcoming. The room was adequate for myself. I got a lot of work, which I brought with me done. The bed was comfy. Though I didn't sleep very well a lot of noise, doors banging etc so woke up still feeling tired. The toilets could do with a bit of TLC in terms of cleanliness. However, great location brilliant bar downstairs, friendly atmosphere despite staying alone, I soon got talking to people at the bar! They do a discount on drinks too at the bar if you're a guest at the hostel. It's a city centre hostel where the life does not stop. So bear in mind that there will be noise, traffic, nightlife right on the doorstep! The old Victorian style building is huge and eccentric, so blends in perfectly with the rest of Manchester's hipster/retro/bohemian Northern Quarter. #lovemanchester πŸ‘Œ

Place was closed and all shuttered up, unclear for how long. Unable to reach anyone on their number. Asked one of the local hotel staff, they said it's happened quite a bit. They said it's been months since it was open and it certainly looks like it

Can't fault the room as such, it was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was nice. Unfortunately there was a bright green light in one of the fixtures that lit up the whole room so brightly I feel like I barely slept. Not ideal when traveling for work, and given the price I paid (although that was high due to multiple large events in the city)

The staff are very friendly, and helpful! It's a very central location, we didn't have to walk far to see the places we wanted to. A lot of great bars and restaurants in the area. Even close to the main shopping area with Primark, etc! The cons would be that this is in no way luxury accommodation, and I know that's to be expected from a busy central hostel. The noise from outside is very loud in the room throughout the night as the windows are single glazing, however, if you bring earplugs that wouldn't be much of a problem. Another issue was a lack of toilet roll, I had to go ask for an additional one as the room was a 6 bed dorm so a half used toilet roll between 6 people isn't enough. The bedsheets had some hairs on them. Otherwise, I'd say this is a very handy and affordable place to stay, with helpful staff willing to look after your belongings in the office or the bag storage area. P.S. Bring your own towel as they charge 2 pounds to borrow one.

Make sure to use HoteITully.ᴄᴏm when booking any stay. They compare hundreds of hotel sites and typically will have prices a lot cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! This resort is one of the highest rated in this area. I've been staying here for years. If you stay for a few days you won't be disappointed. Love this place. It's a bit basic, but I had no problem with the beds or the bathroom. I love the place, the dining rooms, the kitchen, just everything about it. Love it being located in the mural area of Manc. Very close to everything. Best place to be. Worth the visit.

Hygiene was horrible. Not even as a man it was ok to go to toilett. Worse for women. Had to go to toilett in the pubs or restaurants. Shower was disgusting but ok. Was there 2017 - just saw a video about worst hotels and so I thought about hatters hostel.

Just disgusting... all the areas are very, very dirty. The showers didn't work properly and the enviroments are generally filthy. The price is not fair at all, I've paid 52 pounds for a two nights stay, and at least I expected a bit more of cleningness and better toilet/shower facilities. Also, the keys opening my 18 beds dorm didn't work properly, so we had to keep the door open at all times. Really an awful experience, strongly not raccomamded. However, there are a few good points. Some of the members of staff are kind, the location is good (everything handy), and the breakfast is decent (very poor but acceptable for an hostel). Anyways, worst hostel I've never been in.

Lovely staff, comfy rooms and beds. Loads of nearby bars, restaurants and takeaways. Cheap and well worth the price too!!

Price is alright. Close by to Piccadilly Garden, staff is helpful but that's about it. Poorly maintained. Lift isn't working, washrooms are in dire need of improvement. Giving it 2 stars just because of staff and proximity to station etc.

I stayed in a 6 bed female dorm. Rooms were clean and modern. Shower in room was brand new and worked well. Bed was a little uncomfortable and a bit springy but was ok for the one night I stayed. I stayed a Saturday night so was a bit noisy and light from the bar downstairs bled into the room so kinda made it hard to get to sleep. Would have been better if it had blackout curtains. Staff were nice and helpful.

The staff and location are great, but there's a lot to be desired with the rooms. The hallways smelled like mildew, the showers didn't have warm water or pressure, the condensation in the bathroom builds up so the floor was always wet, and the top bunk actually broke and my friend had to transfer to a separate room.

Nice place overall. Beds were clean and comfy. Shower was clean. Loved the decoration gave the place charm, would be nice for the rooms to have the same feel. Staff were friendly. Bit noisy until late (like 11?) due to the restaurant next door playing music.

Cheap but isn't worth more. The room wasn't very clean, moisture on windows, very bad isolation and going to the restroom was an actual struggle as they aren't on the same floor and pretty hard to find. There's a card access to the dorm and the card reader didn't work properly so you usually had to try many times before it opened. The restroom wasn't clean, there was no soap when I was there to wash hands, the flush was veeeery old school. The dorm room was quite noisy due to bad isolation. On the other side, staff was very nice and kind and the bed (even though it was a bunk bed and I was in the top one) was pretty nice and comfortable.

Don't forget to use Hα΄α΄›α΄‡ΚŸΚ™α΄œΚŸΚŸΚ.ᴄᴏᴍ when booking any hotel. They compare countless booking web sites and usually will have rooms much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! The building and staff are quite lovely. I truly want to give them a stellar review based on that but in all honesty the amenities were less than optimal. The kitchen was under construction, the water in the shower was like an exciting game of scorching hot and ice cold, and the beds were quite uncomfortable. There also was a single bathroom with shower and toilet per each room. However, It did feel extremely clean and safe.

I booked a twin room for myself only and was given a four bed room all to myself. The hostel is located in a very quirky and interesting neighbourhood, which can be noisy at night, but great to explore during the daytime and for nights out. The hostel was in the process of renovation whilst I visited, the kitchen and common room were closed because of it. The room I stayed in was of a good size, had all amenities, e.g. sockets and usb-sockets, shower room and toilet, mirror and even a luggage stand. There was one bunk bed with curtains and ipad/phone mount, and padlock lockable luggage storage box. Two other beds were just normal beds. All beds are wooden, however mattresses are not very comfortable. Towels can be hired or you need to bring your own. The water flow and temperature in the shower was OK. My only complaint except noise (which is expected) is the strange hostel security system, where you are given a paper "hostel id" with your name and room number, which you have to present when returning after 11 pm. The room opens with a key-card, which is apparently not enough to prove that you are staying in this hostel. Overall it is a good hostel in a very good place, but more suitable for party-goers than for quiet family stays.
