Got a voucher for a spa day and decided to come here. We had a great time. Massage was lovely and very relaxing. Then they have a thermal suite, which was choice of 3 different saunas and cold room. Small but cozy. Only things I was bit disappointed in was the fact there's no swimming pool or jacuzzi or anything like that, which I thought was part of it. And in tha sauna suite itself there's only 2 lounge chairs in a space between the saunas, to sit and chill for a bit, which were always full. They should definitely add more chairs or a bench or something to sit on when you've been in sauna for a while and just wanna sit and rest out of the heat. Because of that we only lasted for like an hour because it was just too much and too hot and nowhere to sit and cool down. Other than these 2 things it was overall nice day out.

Lovely room. So not your boring room like you get at other big brand hotels. Lift area can be congested, but what ever, just take the stairs like I did. Pleasant atmosphere with nice staff who you can see work hard to look after guests. Clean bathroom, good aircon. Windows don't open so need that. Great views ( eye of the beholder so your mileage will vary). Quite too, from seventh floor in front of hotel you can just hear the click clack of the trains, but its not bothersome. Would book again.

Hotel staff are good, where possible they will try to help out. Room size for a king was really good and full of space. Location is great. Right next to Manchester station and very close to city center. Unfortunately I wasn't able to book a visit to the spa but next time will. Would definitely come again for a future trip.

Great location and customer service, but in need of a makeover. My partner and I stayed for our anniversary. It was a nice experience and in particular the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was also very big, though upon entering we were hit with quite a strong smell of *insert your favourite ‘s’ word*. As such, I think further attention to cleanliness is necessary. We also found the interior quite dated, and that key areas such as the shower were in need of repair. All in all, a good experience, just a few creases that need ironing out.

I’ve been coming here for years & although it’s changed companies, the decline in quality has been ongoing since lockdown. Even down to the complimentary biscuits that no longer exist. I arrived unaware of the renovations, which meant most of the hotel was unusable. The gym was closed and to access the restaurant you had to go to the second floor and then go down about 4 flights of stairs. This meant I could not go for breakfast (that I had paid for), as I had a pram. My first room was filthy. Poo stains in the toilet, blood on the bedsheets and the carpet was marked in a few places. I also noticed in my room where I booked a deluxe double with two double beds and larger room space, two double beds had actually been squeezed into a room that used to be a double room with one double bed. It was very very cramped and the beds weren’t even facing the TV. I complained, due to the dirtiness of the room. I was moved to another room, which was even worse. The carpet was badly stained all over and I didn’t have the city view that I paid for. But I didn’t complain again as I was only there one night and had dinner reservations in less than an hour. Overall I did not get what I paid for.. larger room, city view and breakfast. It was dirty, not adequately equipped for a comfortable stay and the renovations meant the company have given zero consideration to the rooms they are still using for guests. Renovating should not mean compromising the reputation of what was once a magnificent hotel. Sadly, after 15 years, I will not be staying again.

Hotel is undergoing renovation. Dirty loose carpets in the hallways. Have to walk 3 flights of stairs to get to restaurant and bar. Rooms are big, but rundown. Half of the outlets in my room did not work. Going back to Manchester and will NOT stay there.

Stayed here with my partner for 3 nights and travelled back home today. The room was spotless, the bathroom was spotless, the hotel was so quiet even with the train station right by us...Overall we had a really nice experience. Very close to everything you need! I would recommend and we will definitely be comming back...thank you :)

Hotel was in a good location, just past the station but also just enough outside of the main city centre. Unfortunately the gym was closed due to renovations while staying here. Which it would’ve been nice to have been informed of before our trip or even at the time of booking as I was on the trip for sports purposes. The rooms were nice and spacious and very quiet despite being right beside a busy road. One of our cups had coffee marks on it though which was obvious that the cup was not cleaned. Comfortable beds, and a great spacious bathroom with a shower and bath. Breakfast was great, plenty of options whether you want a cooked breakfast, pastries or cereals etc and the restaurant staff were very helpful and friendly. The host was really friendly and gave a great welcome/tour of the restaurant to show where everything is. Bar staff were friendly too, and the food late at night was also really good!

The rooms are very minimalist, not enough outlets in logical locations, not even bedside lamps ON BOTH SIDES of the bed! Carpet could do with being changed as I walked in the room, I started sneezing. The bed is HORRIBLE! I don't weigh that much, but my hips can feel the springs 🤦‍♀️. Thank goodness I'm only here for a couple of nights. Definitely not a 4 star.... I am shocked this is a Marriott property!

The location and breakfast were great, cleanness of room is average as cabinets are old worn but bed is comfortable. However the reception service was terrible. We checked in on a Friday after a long drive, and we waited for about 20 minutes to check in as there were a lot of people in line. It's a busy 4-star hotel with great location. After settling down around midnight we couldn't find hair dryer in the room, and the phone in our room wasn't working AT ALL so we couldn't call reception. We walked tiredly through the long hall to reach limited numbers of elevator, and ask for reception. The receptionist replied and insist he followed us back to our room, in the midnight, to check our room personally even though we are all females in pajamas. He mentioned lots of customers couldn't find it since there are many drawers. IT"S JUST A HAIR DRYER AND I"M STAYING ONLY 1 NIGHT JUST GIVE ME ONE. I asked him to stay outside of the room and he asked me to take a photo of empty drawer as evidence for missing hair dryer. I understand he must follow staff procedure, but this ridiculous request shows no respect to me as a customer, and I felt being charged of misplacing the necessity I need in our room. It was very unpleasant to everyone in my room, and it's not the receptionist's fault I believe. Please stop questioning your customers who are here to relax instead of running errands for you.

Location excellent, walking distance to Piccadilly railway station in a few minutes. Staff were helpful and friendly, but it seems as though they hadn't been briefed by the hotel managers about the Secret Escapes package that we used to book, so not the staff members fault. We enquired to use the spa and sauna only to be told that it was closed for maintenance and that it wound be available the next day. So the next day, we enquired again, and was told it was closed. So much for being a spa hotel where you can't even use the facilities. Room is spacious and views across the city very good. Bathroom had loads of space and bed was very comfy. Breakfast at 9.30am, and there was only one chef cooking the eggs and meat items. There was someone in a suit helping the chef and it wasn't even that busy. Had to wait for fried eggs and even then they weren't cooked properly so I didn't eat the eggs. I think they were cooked by the guy in the suit so maybe it should be left to a professional person designated for the job, or the hotel management provide another chef. Only stayed here one night and wasn't impressed overall on the basis that the hotel management hadn't trained their staff fully and couldn't cope when the breakfast was being made, and we could not use the spa. The hotel management needs to address some obvious issues. I wouldn't come back as there are plenty of other options across Manchester.

Staff so friendly and fabulous, especially the night reception. Rooms comfortable, clean and very spacious. No noise. Breakfast delicious, vast assortment, all fresh hot and tasty. Breakfast staff outstanding, nothing too much trouble and very attentive, will definitely stay here again.

This is a tricky one to review because there were some stark contrasts in my experience at the hotel/spa. The staff were all amazing, working under such difficult circumstances regarding the ongoing refurbishments. I'd booked a spa day and the website leads you to believe that the refurbishments only impacted upon the use of the gym, which was fine by me because I only wanted to relax and unwind. However, I found the day to be stressful due many reasons unfortunately. 1. The changing room on level one was one makeshift bedroom conversion with a few lockers and one hairdryer 2. The spa and relaxation room and spa reception on the level below. The relaxation room was very dark with only two chairs with sufficient light to read a book 3. The spa thermal suite was on a level below that, but I got lost a couple of times trying to navigate between these areas as old signage was still up on some stairwells which lead to "no entry - construction site" signs. 4. The thermal suite was on the fritz and wouldn't get going until around midday, so we were all just sitting around waiting 5. There isn't a pool 6. The restaurant is right at the other end of the hotel and you have to get dressed rather stay in your robes, which is not my experience with any other spa. The food was lovely though and as mentioned, the staff were great. The full body massage was very nice too. I'm not convinced that by the end of these refurbishments, the improvements will change much of that experience - i.e. multiple floor changes so on that basis I will not book a spa day there again.

City view..... Car park view but they did move us, absolute nightmare to find the car park. Booked table in dining room, dining room closed had to sit in bar which was freezing cold due to air con, food was good though as was breakfast. Wouldn't go back though

Great location and good service for a short trip in general. Complimentary water/drink is available but would be great to have a drinking fountain somewhere within the hotel. Spacious room and toilet. Wifi was something I could complain about. Very close to Manchester Piccadilly Station and city centre. Lots of sightseeing, foods and entertainment available.

Fantastic. What made my stay so enjoyable was the lovely comfortable rooms but also the staff. Emily on reception was so so accommodating and helpful and Jordan at the bar and breakfast was so friendly and welcoming too! Can't wait for my next trip! Thank you!

Well equipped room but could do with a bit more detailed cleaning. Sink was broken. Took 4 hours to deliver extra pillows (the pillows were air filled bags! Terrible. They need to invest in better ones!) Shower and bath were delightful Bar reasonably priced. Great location

Very nice bedroom with a beautiful view, amazing big bathroom as well! The breakfast was just delicious (I recommend it) and the staff explained to us how to get to a place we wanted to visit with patience 👍 The only flaw I may mention would be the parking that is not free (25 pounds for the night, 24h).

I had the pleasure of experiencing Chef George's culinary expertise at Manchester Piccadilly Hotel. The dishes crafted by him were truly a masterpiece, combining flavors in a way that left me in awe. Each bite was a journey of taste and texture, showcasing his dedication to the culinary arts. A big shoutout to Chef George for making my dining experience truly extraordinary.

Hotel close to train station. Rooms ok but no fridge although tea and coffee available. shower facilities ok. Fairly close to city centre although Ubers in abundance and very reasonably priced. Breakfast included, the only thing that let that down was we were seated very close to the trolley the staff were bringing all the plates to scrape any leftover food into, which was deposited into a see through bag very off-putting when you are trying to eat. This should be hidden away from view.

Rooms are comfortable, but far too warm and only a small little fan with no air coming in the window. Needs bigger fan or aircon for comfortable nights sleep. Service was excellent and nice food.

Lovely hotel. Nice rooms and decent lounge. However, the thermal suite isn't included and they don't have a booking system. We went down three times to see if we can get a spot, kept saying 'we can't guarantee, just show up and we'll see if we can get you in.' We eventually got in, however only the sauna and showers were working. The steam room and cold rooms were out of action and it smelt bad in that area. Oh, and the gym wasn't good. Very little facilities there. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the pillows have given my neck a strain. Too puffy and big and on the last night, woke up to some DIY noises, someone hammering something into a wall. Also, a very expensive hotel. 4.20 for a coffee😂😂😂 AND it's cashless. 🙄 And I wouldn't stay here again for this reason. Cash is king 👑 Apart from that... Its a decent hotel, quite clean and in a good location.

DO NOT BOOK HERE! Booked a room 3 months ago at a reasonable price - was told the room has been cancelled 5 days before the event I was planning to attend. When I look online there are rooms available for the date I want to stay for 10x the price I paid. I’m now left without a place to stay at short notice so the hotel can make max profit. Shameful behaviour, by a company clearly don’t care about their obligation to customers.

Large but unassuming hotel in a great location next to Piccadilly Station. Very friendly staff but what stands out the most is the very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, apparently the biggest hotel rooms in the city. Our room, though a little dated, was gorgeous. Very comfy California King size bed. Everything was impeccably clean, the spacious bathroom had a large oversized bath and separate large walk in shower, the Elemis toiletries were a luxurious touch. City views from the wrap around windows are great from here. It's an unfussy but elegant, classy hotel at a great price. It needs a little bit of updating but that is happening. If the prices remain competitive, it will always be my go-to in this fantastic city.

Hotel is going through a refurb so reduced service yet the price is still very high. Room service for some reason is only after 10pm which when questioned was due to the refurb which makes no sense. Booked for the gym but that is closed. Rooms very dated. One of those hotels with no plugs near the bed which is beyond frustrating and the TV is so old it has no streaming/mirroring capability and just very basic channels. Nice big room though and bed surprisingly comfy considering how old it looks. Nice big bathroom and the room is clean and staff very pleasant.

  • 2/5 Carl L. 4 months ago on Google
The location is the best part of this hotel. Many amenities were closed during our stay and much of the hotel was under renovations. There were only 2 pillows in our room, no conditioner, the hair dryer didn’t work, and the hotel was very outdated in general. This is fine if you need a place to crash by the station. If you’re looking for a nice hotel, look elsewhere.

Me and my friends stayed over for one night at this hotel. I would say it was very average and definitely not 4 star quality. Pros: -Good location, close to the station and 10 minute walk to the city centre - Rooms very spacious -Nice, big bathroom! Strong shower and separate bath. Cons: -Mattress was very uncomfortable. Basic open coil mattress that has definitely seen better days. Pillow was also as flat as a pancake -Spa was poor, no swimming pool and heated lounge was in what looked like a basement. Gym was also closed temporarily. - In general, hotel looks very run down.

Bizarre spa day 🤣 confirmation said open 9am, shut when we arrived at nearly 10. Told spa was shut the whole day...cue frantic calls from reception until they got the manager to open up for us. Treatments booked for 6.30 pm, not our choice but as soon as we were out of the treatment the staff were all in their coats locking up everywhere and turning the lights off! Why book your clients in at that time if it's such an inconvenience for you? Not exactly a relaxing or high end experience 🤣🤣 but staff were all very nice and the spa itself very clean.

Precious was very helpful. Great hotel nearby train station and a lot of attractions. Tram station is a few meter away (i recommend you to buy a daily tickets zone 1 if you want to explore the city). Rooms are big and clean. But corridors smell funky. Elevator is always a issue. I don't understand how a big building like this only operates 1 lift for all the guest, it doesn't make sense. Breakfast is worth it for the value, but during peak hours there is a waiting line for most of the hot dishes. Overall food was high quality. There is a steakhouse on the same breakfast premises that has very good reviews as well, but we didn't manage to visit. Maybe next time.

I have to give this place 5 stars. Why? It’s absolutely the best for its price, and in fact the best value overall. The rooms are good, bathroom is nice, and views are fine. The restaurant is good and breakfast is a great deal, you get a full English (American) breakfast, not just a selection of pastry. The bacon is amazing. The best part though is the staff. We got in at 6am, wet and tired, and just looking to put our bags away and wait for check in time, yet the desk manager found us a clean room and let us in extremely early just because we looked beat, and we really needed it. Later we decided to stay another day and the front desk told us to book it online, then they’d link the booking to our room. I couldn’t find out same room type, just and upgrade or downgrade online and he said “just pick the cheapest and I’ll take care of it.” What a guy! Great service, 5 min walk to the Piccadilly train station, and I like the 1970s kinda cool swoosh design of the building. Great hotel.

Been twice now and it's just stunning! The huge panoramic view windows, huge comfy beds, beautiful bathrooms and they always go above and beyond. I let them know we were celebrating a birthday and they left some lovely cakes and a hand written birthday card!

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel during Pride. Very close on foot to the city centre. Parking for a day cost us £25 and it was gated. Our windows were overlooking Manchester Piccadilly but you couldn't really hear the train noise. Also, great water pressure in the shower. Comfy double bed, however the pillows could have been better.

Booked a room for our 5 year anniversary and had the best experience. I called a few days before our stay and had the lovely pleasure of speaking with Amelia who was very responsive at communicating. I asked her if there was anything I can do to make the room more romantic, I paid for one of the packages that she could offer and Amelia really went over and beyond to make sure the room looked absolutely stunning. Amelia also upgraded our room which I must say, was one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever stayed in. I appreciate all the efforts and will most definitely be staying again!

This used to be a great hotel ten years ago, unfortunately it now feels a lot older than that with dated furnishings, rooms, and decor. But most of all it was the staff, there was no queue at the front desk yet I still waited 10 minutes for someone to even come to the desk. At that point I was just grunted at for my name and then thrown a key card and left to find my own way / devices. The same story occurred in the bar and then breakfast, at that point I gave up. Given the options you have in Manchester I would avoid staying here.

So just been taken over reception staff disinterested took a long time to check in. NO USB ports in any rooms of our group. Some of them didn't even have standard plugs next to the bed. Signs to spa on our floor take you to a glass door at end of corridor. Management of rooms for group bookings extremely poor. Got locked out of my room friend went to reception just given a key without checking name or member of staff accompanying her back to me.Rooms are clean and very spacious, fantastic breakfast. Brilliant location for centre.

Absolutely amazing hotel only one issue i faced was sockets. None were near the bed so charging phone and stuff was hard the ones for the lamps and bedside lights were 3 round pins so that wasn't much help. There is a spa it would be lovely to have a pool but that can't be helped. Every staff member I came accross was absolutely amazing.

Hotel itself looks impressive when you arrive. Bar looks modern and sleek. The rooms however, leave a lot to be desired. They were covered in stains and outside of the reception/bar/restaurant area, the rest of the hotel looked dated and tired. Service from all the staff was excellent and the location was fantastic for WHP. Would probably want to pay less to stay here again even though it was very convenient.

I really love this hotel. The rooms are a good size, the hotel staff are really helpful and friendly. The room service was good. And the bath was fantastic! Convenient location right next to Manchester Piccadilly train station. Will definitely be staying here again!

Across so many different Marriott’s we have stayed at - this one needs upgrade big time in terms of breakfast! Everything was perfect from the start of our stay until the breakfast the next day. Professional, polite, exceptional customer service at the desk, an upgrade to our room with decent views, spacious room with a full bathroom and a separate WC as well as living room all within our room. Plenty of towels and toiletries and even welcome drinks. So everything was fabulous. 10 out of 10. I would say even 5* hotel level. And then… Next morning we went for breakfast and it was… very poor. So the 4* hotel last night in our mind went all the way to the level of 5* hotel to only drop all the way down to level of 3* hotel or even less. The choice of food just wasn’t great. The staff were again amazing, very polite and helpful but food… needs a massive improvement. In fact - we didn’t even go for breakfast there today as it would be total disappointment again.

Excellent night's stay Friday-Saturday towards the end of May. Booking was easy and flexible, with staff allowing an early check-in to suit my schedule sans-charges or fuss. The room was lovely, as were all furnishings and fittings, and the service was world-class! The next morning, the breakfast lived up to the acclaim I'd heard about in advance. The chef had a sense of humour and offered to poach me a dozen eggs - we had a laugh, which is priceless in the hospitality industry. I'd like to thank Pedro, the concierge who introduced me to the hotel, and a staff member whose name I didn't catch who was so apologetic about the lack of peanuts at the bar when I popped in briefly - she was very lovely about it all. Minor nitpicks: I felt that the air conditioning was a little outdated and could have been easier and swifter to get the room manageable on the Saturday morning. The revolving door at the front, the only way in, was very tight, and made carrying all of my bags (four large ones and a big suitcase) a challenge for me. The curtains were a little oversized and had some holes in them, and were difficult to place adequately to block the strong sunlight / light from adjacent buildings at night. Lastly, I had trouble plugging an HDMI cable into the television (which was otherwise excellent) owing to its flushness to the wall, and was worried that it would tear off its fixture. Collectively, none of the above nitpicks merit even a single star's deduction, and are purely notes for ideal improvements. I haven't stayed at a hotel this nice in years, especially with such gracious staff. Total recommend!

Room was massive. Could see one of the train platforms from my room so I'd say it was close enough to the station!! ( which was the aim of my stay). Restaurant had a good selection. Couple of things in the room we're broken but no big deal.

Had a spa day and lunch at the hotel. 5* for the lunch we had (although chips were soft and a bit soggy) but the staff were amazing. Very accommodating. Alegna, Megan and Vi or Bi, were all very good, very pleasant and attentive, the service was on point. The spa treatments were very good, but the downside is if you're by the sauna and steam room area, there are no benches or seats to sit on if you want a break from the hot rooms but still want to stay with others in your group. There are 2 mosaic "loungers" to sit on - but again heated! The relaxation room is all the way upstairs by the treatment rooms. They do have a cold room by the sauna but no where to just sit in it. It clearly states there isn't a swimming pool, but it is something this spa lacks for a "spa day"

Good, standard hotel. Way quieter than expected considering it’s right near Piccadilly station. The rooms are quite large and relaxing too. Mostly clean. Only removing a star due to the mattress being rock hard - I like a firm mattress but that one hurt my neck. I still slept though, so I’d consider staying again.
