We paid ~£400 for 2 nights. If you've been to an Ibis before, you know what to expect Pros: - great location - shower was great. Spacious and warm with conditioning shampoo + body/face wash - comfortable beds - good sound isolation from other rooms - great blackout curtains that can make day look like night in your room - city centre location Cons: - gets really noisy at night as rooms have poor sound isolation from the roads - our room had a strong musty smell like urine - no heaters in the room - smallish room expected for what you pay Overall an ok choice but held back by the noise and lack of heating

I booked an accessable room. The room was tiny, there would be no way to get into the room if you are a wheelchair user. A wheelchair would not fit between the bed and the wall to access the room. Also there was only a small open area and so turning a wheelchair round or storage of it would be very tight. The room smelt musty. The bathroom was not great. It appeared to be mostly clean however had alot of marks around. When using the toilet it didn't feel secure, it's connected only to the wall and does not go to the floor. My husband said it feels like it's moving and leaning forward. The staff were great, I requested extra pillows and they got them for me immediately. The breakfast across the way was lovely. Although the staff and the location were great I would not stay here again as it's not suitable for my accessibility needs.

Although by nature of this hotel being a 3 star comfort and facilities are limited, I have to say this is a significantly above average Ibis. The hotel is centrally located on Portland Street, very close to Chinatown, and within 10 minutes walk to the City Centre. There are many good restaurants and food spots within a few minutes walk. It’s also close to the Free Bus stop which runs to and from Piccadilly station in the case of inclement weather - which I made use of on arrival. The bar and lobby area is tastefully decorated. Staff were efficient and friendly and having checked in online prior, I got my key within a minute. The room itself was modern, albeit reasonably compact and basic, with a comfortable by comparison bed on which I slept well, and has a decent design with the wardrobe area tucked neatly into a corner. A hairdryer is included, as well as a kettle and basic tea, coffee, milk and sugar etc. The room also had air conditioning, which was surprisingly effective. I think the bathrooms in Ibis hotels are generally a bit too well lit, minimalist and small by design, although the shower area is a decent size. Basic hair, body and hand gel is provided. The shower took about 30 seconds to reach optimum at a decent warmth and pressure, but this was no issue. Housekeeping is daily, although there are additional reward points earned with their loyalty scheme if you choose not to, although I wasn’t told about this by staff (there is door hanger in room). The TV was a highlight as well, with Chromecast ability, and the room boasted probably one of the most practical things I have come across in a basic hotel - a usb and plug cube which enabled multiple device charging easily. It’s the little things. Wi-Fi was also stable and of a good speed. Value for 2 nights stay on Sunday and Monday nights was exceptional - I would definitely stay again given the location. ***** I stayed a second time and this was less satisfactory - was allocated a room on the second floor which smelled a bit musty although tolerable with window open and air conditioner on. The chromecast on the tv was not working and the water pressure on the shower was less than ideal and took a while to warm up. So, I would say that the rooms are unfortunately inconsistent.

For the price, I cannot complain. The room and bathroom was small but clean. It was nicely located to walking distance to everything we wanted to visit in the area. The beers downstairs were cheap. Staff very friendly. If I could change anything it would be to have a place to put our luggage. But hey, if that's the only thing I would change, that's not bad at all!

My second stay at the cheap and cheerful ibis. What sells this place to me is its staff they’re always smiling especially one the girls reminded me of my ex in a good way. Was over for a week for my birthday. Only complaint was this the second time the air conditioning has not worked being a bigger fella meant a very uncomfortable night sleep on the third floor. I would advise bigger gentleman or ladies to get on the ground floor unless they fix the air con. The staff say cause of age of system but thats not really a true excuse But not the less it’s smack bang in Manchester City centre and was £240 for four and half nights. Would recommend they also offer free breakfast me being from Belfast would prefer hot Ulster fry being available but wasn’t.

Pros: Great central location, clean Cons: Room had weird pungent smell (thought might have been carpet cleaner) and woke up with sore throat from it, bathroom is a weird modular cubicle - feels like a bathroom in a caravan with no ceramic fittings etc, air con did not work properly. We were at front of hotel so it was very loud but this is to be expected from the central location. All in all, did not feel like good value for money.

Quiet hotel with blackout curtains for a good night's sleep. Courteous staff. Bag storage if you're checking out but your flight is much later in the day. Near to Picadilly Gardens in the city center.

The hotel is alright for the price but the rooms and especially the bathroom isn’t the best. The bathroom smelled a bit of urine and the toilet didn’t flush well. Breakfast is at the Novotel right next to the Ibis and is good! Location is great.

Stayed here a lot before covid. Great location and the staff are very helpful. Personally I have a big issue with the bathrooms. It’s basically a plastic box they’ve set up inside the room. Gets very steamy and it smells old/unhygienic.

I had selected this hotel based on the largely positive reviews below. Unfortunately there was someone reliving their 90s/2000s RnB heyday LOUDLY in one of the rooms near to the 1st floor (Blue still isn't a good band mate 😉) at 4-7am in the morning near the 1st floor. Judging by the loud banging noises, I suspect other guests were very disappointed to be woken up too. So I'm afraid I can't recommend this hotel, and won't stay here next time until it makes its noise policy clearer to guests. Good luck for next time 😕

    - A good branch of Ibis. - A good location: if you use Q-Park Piazza, it literally takes 30 seconds to get here through the back gate. - It is in the middle of the Manchester chinatown so if you want to visit the Chinatown, this is probably one of the best locations. - You get what you expect from an Ibis. - The lounge space was good. It is not very large compared to some other Ibis - the one in Portsmouth had a huge lounge - but still good enough to chill out and relax. - The lady at the reception was friendly. - We got a room for disabled so it was relatively specious compared to other Ibis. - The downside was some machine noise from somewhere, you know the kind of fridge noise :(

Great location and good bed, but that’s about it. No service whatsoever (they no longer make the bed in the morning if you stay for several nights) and the rooms are uncomfortably hot despite not being a hot day. There’s no air conditioning, only some kind of a fan that blows mild air even when set to the coldest setting. Windows can’t be fully opened, and so the room is at 26degrees all day all night despite the temperature barely reaching 10 outside. Room temperature is part of the basics. I used to stay at Ibis regularly not not anymore because of those issues. Other hotels and chains provide better comfort and better value these days Friendly staff at check in, good bed but that’s about it.

Decent enough for a two night stay. Rooms could be cleaned better. Nice 24 hour bar. Close walk to everywhere.

First time visiting, and it didn't disappoint 10 mins from the train station and a few minutes from the centre, the place was clean, staff friendly and rooms were spacious enough ,would recommend to others

Great location. On request, they'd put a some effort in to decorate the room, really welcome us and even got two complementary drinks! Bar was absolutely empty in the evening (but what can you expect of a hotel bar?) and the wine tasted a little spoiled but all in all, will absolutely be making a trip back ☺️

It's a shame really that I can't give 5*. The location is great, staff are very helpful and the ambience in reception is excellent. The downside is that you have to walk across to Novotel hotel for breakfast. This is still not too much of a problem as it is close by. The bigger issue I had was that there was no hand towel and the shower was absolutely terrible! The shower pressure at best was a trickle! Not what you expect in a hotel chain that should have set standards!

Stayed here for just the night, unfortunately we had to cut the visit short due to trains. The hotel is in a brilliant location for exploring Manchester and in good proximity to both Oxford Road and Piccadilly, plus trams. Ryan? (The guy with curly hair) on reception was great, had a really good chat and was very informative. He was helpful throughout our short stay and is a credit to the hotel. The rooms are spacious, a little dated but they are clean and are perfect for a few nights stay, certainly better than other Ibis I've stayed in. We had a rear facing room on the 3rd floor and it was very quiet. There is a 24hr bar/kitchen and when we went to get our welcome drink the bartender (not sure on name, he was new to the hotel) was really friendly and happy to help us. The TVs have smart connection which is a huge bonus, and there is extra pillows available in the room.

Great value hotel for the price. I've stayed in three different hotels in Manchester recently and this one was probably the best deal. You get what you pay for, room is basic with no views to speak of, BUT it was clean and quiet and had everything we needed (kettle, iron, hair dryer). Location is fabulous, close to St. Peter's Square and the tram and a short walk from the coach station. Lots of restaurants nearby as well.

Just had a very short overnight stay for a work event. Very clean room. No noise. Quirky deco but quite stylish for a budget hotel. Great location for those wanting to explore Manchester.

Enjoyed our stay here. It's what you'd expect for the money really. Nothing fancy but enough for what we wanted. Mattresses were comfy, room was clean. Would have preferred two thinner pillows rather than one thick one. Bathroom fan didn't work. Otherwise all grand.

Great position for the town centre. Bed was comfy and we had all amenities available to us. Breakfast was lovely too. Only downside no parking or cheaper offer

Three night stay was comfortable and reception staff were great. Only criticism is that cleaning staff was not of highest standard. Small stain on carpet and hair and dead midge stuck to wall above bathroom door.

Hotel Ibis Manchester Centre - 96 Portland St is easy to find, just before Picadilly Gardens, bit of a walk down but still central to everything. Check-in was easy and straight-forward. Basically gave reservation, paid and was given two hotel cards for our room. There are lifts to go upstairs which is good when you have luggage. Upon entering the room, it was clean but smelt a bit musty so I opened the window to get rid of the smell but aside from this no issues. The beds were comfortable but we felt the pillows could be more sturdy or provide two for more support. Also being twin beds they were still close together, normally they are supposed to be separate? The Shower/Sink/Toilet is in capsule space in corner of the room so quite compact. The shower was very good. Good water pressure. Only gripe was the sink is quite low for brushing your teeth/washing your face and water pressure wasn't as good as the shower but that is trivial. Towels/hand towel provided and plenty of toilet paper which is good. Lots of coffee/tea sachets/milk cartons provided which is good - I didn't have any as I don't drink either. Would be nice to have hot choc sachets too and maybe some biscuits but not a big deal. As we attended a show at the Manchester A.O Arena, it's good checking out time was at 12 noon as it gave us a chance to get some rest and have a late lie in on Sunday without having to wake up early and vacate the room. Overall a good budget hotel in a reasonable location. Would definitely recommend for a short stay trip.

A smart room, quite comfortable and well-maintained. The window doesn't open and the room was very stuffy also there are a few things I would change for example the awkward position of the soap dispensers and the strange lamps. The reception staff functioned but seemed disinterested. A big gold star to their housekeeper who is a step above most other housekeepers in most other places I've stayed and I've stayed in a lot of places. I would recommend earplugs because even though the window was double glazed it let in quite a lot of noise from the street.

We had to book on the day for ~£140, due to an issue with another hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was comfy, with a generously sized TV. The bathroom was as expected. We would definitely stay again if we booked in advance to get a cheaper price. The only issue was that the bed was not that comfy and the pillows were thin, making watching TV uncomfortable.

Room was dirty. There was hair in bathroom!! Plug for bath was with mold! My kid wanted to take a bath and we had to clean everything before he could do it.. room was way too hot, air conditioner wasn't working so it was about 25 maybe degrees in a room or maybe even more. Ventilation was bad as well.. really disappointed... bed was uncomfortable and broken..... really really disappointed..

Location is amazing. However rooms are not at all clean, looks like they never cleaned. The floor carpet was so badly stained and was hell dirty. Could not think of moving without shoes. Shower area was dirty too. Would recommend for location but never for cleanliness and hygienic service.

For the price (139.00 on a Friday night in February) it had all the charm of a student dorm room. The staff was lovely and helpful but he room was small stuffy and you could not open the window as our room was right over a large noisy air con unit. The room was spartan . The location was good but I would not recommend it . Breakfast in sister hotel (Novatel) was okay but many items were unavailable at 10 am and the layout was chaotic.

Staying here five nights. Wanted to be closer to the city and railway and everything else. Hotel rooms are great. I'm on the 4th floor. Breakfast is extra but it is definitely worth it. Staff member Marta and Sahara are the people who have made my stay in Manchester perfect.

Just returned from one night at this hotel. Me and my boyfriend only had 1 problem which was 1 dirty towel. Other than that you can complain for the price. Comfy bed and room appeared clean. Great location and friendly staff. The room was small but I expected that and the bathroom reminded me of a train toilet but bigger but its budget so again I expected that. Had tea and coffee facilities and a little wardrobe area and desk. We parked in the q Park piazza behind the hotel for £22 for 24 hrs with the 25% discount from hotel. I would stay here again :)

Very comfy bed. Very nice bathroom- compact with a big shower 'cubicle '- it was circular. Power cube next to bed- usb and power. Black out curtains. Great air-conditioning. And a lift! Perfect

Arrived at the hotel said our name and one member of staff confirmed our stay but then said we needed a membership? Which we don’t have as it wasn’t need to book, then shown her a photo of what our booking reference number was as I didn’t have the email and she said that wasn’t enough, said it wasn’t my name on the booking even though it was, then asked if I can show her my bank statement to which she replied no it’s not enough, I had a friend staying in the same hotel so they came down and said they don’t have a membership either and asked if our bank statement would be enough to which she said it would be. Will not be staying here again!

Great location, clean and tidy rooms. Breakfast served in the Novotel next door, but just a 30m walk so not an issue. Would stay again

AC was amazing! Way too cold, we loved it! Lol! Windows opened a bit wide which was also great! Not sure whether it was due to the damage with the lock or it was just wide lol. Lovely entry point on arrival and bar too. Staff was average not really friendly or welcoming really just looked like they didn’t want to be there. May have been students, I guess it makes sense as it was bank holiday Monday! We did not order room service or get anything else. Another bad point was it was also an animal friendly hotel, which clearly made the hotel smell. Our room also smelled of pets to be honest. The shower was so weak, felt like I was still dirty after having a wash. The shower door had no lock 🤦🏽‍♂️ bruh, 2022 man! Rooms were average, TV and channels were lagging (time delayed). So stopped watching after a while. Wi-Fi didn’t work consistently neither! Very annoying! Bed was comfy! Yes it was! 10/10! But other bits were a let down. Check out was easy, drop your fobs into a box and off you go. #manchester #ibishotel #mcr #blogger #manchesterblogger #instagram #staremix #foodie #bankholiday #arndale

I was really pleasantly surprised, this is definitely one of the nicest Ibis hotels I've stayed at. The staff are really friendly and helpful, check in and out were very easy. The hotel is really nicely furnished, the bar area is cozy and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bed was very comfy and I had a great night's sleep. It's very convenient in its location for trains, shops, restaurants and conference centre. I'd definitely stay there again.

This was an absolute rubbish experience, very tiny twin room with Virgin train like bathrooms and sliding door that will not stay closed. Barely working AC and smelling funny overall. Never again and I am afraid I can not recommend it, avoid if possible.

Very good for the price (£73). The hotel is very quiet, windows block out the outside noise. Room is spacious. The only annoying thing is the key card was blocked on the day of checkout before the checkout time (before 12pm) Bathroom is basic but perfectly fine. Would recommend

I had several issues with house keeping which I reported to management. The issues were resolved to my satisfaction. However, after checking out I realised that I left some items at the hotel. This was the last hotel that I stayed in and where I had the items. Contacted the hotel and they did not find anything in the two rooms that I stayed in. I have stayed at several IBIS hotels and other chain hotels and always had misplaced items returned me if I accidentally left them behind. However, this is the one hotel where I am certain that I accidentally left items in my hotel room and interestingly nothing was found. The items were not expensive but very important nonetheless. I will never stay at this location again.

AMAZING staff! Marta and the Brazilian girl Nathalyah. They were super friendly with me and explained me everything I asked, they gave me tips about nearby restaurants and places to visit. I will always return to Ibis if the staff is like them. SO FRIENDLY. Thank you Marta and Nathalyahn. Thank you so much. The coffee was delicious as well. Thanks thanks thanks. Hotel super clean.
