Stayed two nights..lovely friendly staff.. Quirky individual rooms with fluffy towels and robes..luxury toiletries..coffee machine and kettle Great location... Only niggle tea/coffee were not replaced for the second day, but I'm sure if asked it would have been sorted instantly. Couldn't really fault anything, would stay again

Room was finished to a good standard, welcomed at the hotel with a glass of prosecco. Staff were really friendly. Located on canal street, so it was perfectly situated for an evening at the gay bars.

Absolutely fantastic food. We was served by a lovely lady called Tilly I believe it was her first day and she was fantastic. She was so real and made us very comfortable. Great time and food was 5 star!

Checked in online. Got there late afternoon, lovely young man on reception( who told us he was new) you wouldn’t have guessed, he was lovely. Room was beautiful, all mod cons, very comfy bed, loved it. Breakfast was sent up this morning, which was a lovely touch. Only down side was the room was so hot, didn’t sleep well. But it was certainly not the hotels fault, as the weather was unbelievably warm.

Went for the Sunday lunch and it was an interesting experience. The person that seated us was lacking in any form of enthusiasm at all and looked underdressed for the style of the restaurant. The waiter that took our order was overly familiar and sat down at our table whilst taking the order which the entire party agreed was not normal. The waiter that brought over our starter clearly didn't know what was on the menu as he announced our starter of calamari as "here's some onion rings for you boys". The main course roast was average with quite chewy and fatty beef. The chicken was a small portion for one of us. The win that was included in the price of the meal was particularly watery (the red wine). Overall we agreed that the price did not reflect the food or service at all and we wouldn't be going back there again.

At the restaurant tonight: staff erratic and rude. Twice brought wrong drinks, never brought tap water… rude when some feedback was given. Never going back

Stayed at Velvet Hotel last week and what a treat. I booked the new rooms, a signature suite. Rooms are stunning and bathroom to die for. Kieran on reception was super friendly. I stay in Manchester regularly with work and I will be staying again here

21st May 2023, booked a Sunday lunch for one. I was greeted by a blonde middle aged woman, who was unfriendly, unhelpful and who provided an appalling service. Eventually, I had to go to the bar and get my own drinks - Not once did this woman come back to check if I needed anything else and/or if everything was okay. . The food i ordered turned up 45 min later, the portions were small, but everything was stacked on top of each other - presentation was poor. Also, I could not order the veg I wanted. There was no atmosphere and it was very dark. This was my personal experience when I visited this establishment. I WOULD NOT RECOMMNED THIS RESTAURANT FOR EATING AND THE SERVICE.

We stayed at this hotel as a night out delayed Valentine’s Day. The hotel is very tastefully decorated with comfortable surroundings. The room we stayed in was spacious with a nice bath tub and freestanding rainforest shower. The bed was extremely large and very comfortable however, my only gripe with the whole stay is that the pillows were quite thick and uncomfortable, we ended up getting cricked necks. When making the booking, I mentioned that it was our first night out in 6+ months since my mother in law fell ill and we were celebrating Valentine’s Day a few days later and the staff left us some chocolates, balloons and rose petals scattered around the room. It really made a nice touch to our stay!

The room was tastefully decorated, spacious, clean and came with a very comfortable king sized bed. The central location was perfect for exploring. There any many bars/restaurants along Canal Street which offered a laid back vibe during the evenings. Being in a central location, it's comfortable to get around on foot to explore further. The bar within the hotel was very relaxed with an upmarket feel. There is no parking at the hotel, but after a quick phonecall to the hotel when en route they were able to recommend parking within walking distance. At no fault of the hotel, Canal Street does get busy so expect noise during the early hours of the morning on certain nights. The hotel explains this when making a booking on line. I'm sure there are other rooms within the hotel which will make any noise more bearable. Overall, a luxurious hotel in a brilliant location at a very reasonable price

Room 305. The window is large but not soundproof at all. The noise outside the window(building work as shown in the picture) woke me up 8 am in the morning. After a long journey and the football carnival in Etihad Stadium, I feel awful when the noise woke me up early in the morning. And I could smell something strange throughout the night. It’s from the toilet. The bad smell fill in the air for a long time despite we only use the toilet twice before going to bed, because of the bad ventilation system. It does not worth £ 170.

Stayed for my boyfriends birthday this weekend. I checked in online and we got there just shortly after 3, the front desk staff were so lovely. The room wasnt quite ready so we got some vouchers to use at the hotel bar, which was very nice of them! The room was lovely and the bed was probably one of, if not the comfiest beds I've ever slept on! I had paid for an added extra which was accidentally forgotten but when I told the staff they offered a bottle of prosecco in its place which they absolutely didnt have to do. Couldn't fault the whole experience, definitely will be coming back to say! A beautiful hotel with absolutely delightful staff

I visited the bar for cocktails….it was an amazing experience. I didn’t stay at the hotel but I would recommend everyone to come and have a cocktail here if in Manchester

We had an amazing stay here at the weekend. We stayed for two nights and got upgraded to the signature suite. The bed was just devine. The shower was amazing. Everything about our stay was just lovely. We were in room 102 - right above reception facing the front, it was fairly loud but nothing we couldn't tolerate at all! Staff are lovely. I'd highly recommend this hotel and we will be back ✨

Came to Velvet Brasserie today for Sunday lunch with my friend who had a Virgin Experiences gift voucher which allowed us to have the 3 course meal option with a bottle of wine. The food was delicious & the portions were really good. The house wine was also lovely and we had a jug of tap water for the table. The service was great and all of the staff were lovely and attentive. Would definitely recommend a visit here and we will definitely be back ☺️

Tried to price up for next year, only to be quoted £558! Really extortionate! Can go all inclusive to Spain for 14 nights for that price! Was going to video review my stay but that's day light robbery that!

I booked this hotel as a suprise for my boyfriends 21st and it did not disappoint. As soon as you walk in the lobby you are greeted with the most amazing smell and amazing staff. They were so welcoming and polite it just made us feel more comfortable about staying there and when I rang them up to ask if I could come earlier to decorate the room for my boyfriends 21st they immediately said yes and they even left him a birthday card and some chocolates. The pillows were fully and the bed it’s self was just incredible we did not want to get out of bed in the morning. We will definitely be coming back here again everything about it was just perfect and my boyfriend absolutely loves it so thank you so much for a fabulous stay!

Booking system is terrible. I was told to email but every email I sent they lost and when I finally got a direct number they said they only had the penthouse. But at the start of the week they said that they had rooms available. Have to be able to book rooms by a phone call so you’re not waiting for a confirmation email.

Great little fin. Was out for my partners birthday and we both loved it. Great staff, great drink (despite my Mrs deciding to drink bloody Mary's all night 🤣) but she loved them. Only slight issue we had was the blind wouldn't open in the morning but tbf, it was a grim rainy day anyway so no dramas. Will definitely be returning here. Loved everything about it. Cheers guys

Boutique Hip & Modern hotel in perfect location. Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds, quiet but also close to a lot of fun bars, restaurants and shopping. The food & cocktails are incredible and the restaurant’s atmosphere fun and lively. Highly recommend!

Perfect Area to visit Manchester! Right on Canal Street. The hotel has its own Bar and Restaurant too, but we never visited the restaurant. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful! On arrival, we were allowed an early check-in, as the room was ready. We also were given 2 glasses of Kylie Minogue Pink Pressecco 🥂 as a welcome drink. There was a lift and stairs to use to our room. Room 21 - The room had its rustic appearance. The pictures on the website show bigger rooms, and so we perceived our room was going to be that way but it wasn't, However, the decor was minimal but bold, the bed was soft and so comfy and very big!! Mini bar and snack basket was offered, but at a price. Tea and coffee machine available and staff were happy to give us extra sachets on request. TV on wall with corner chair and a table top with a phone to reach reception, Iron, ironing board, hair dryer, and 2 of the cosiest dressing gowns are offered from the wardrobe as well as a pin lock safe. Lighting - I would express it was difficult to use the lighting for makeup purposes as it's a little dim in most areas of our room but again, the lighting gave another rustic feeling. Breakfast at 9:30 - own choice of time - Very cute, arrived at the door in a woven basket with choice of pastries, cereal box each, breakfast bars, fruit, orange juice, milk and marmalade. Bar - Lovely choice of cocktails and many more drinks. Fair price l, nice environment, love the wallpaper!! Would definitely book again in the future. Thanks Velvet Hotel 🛎🥂

Thanks for a great Sunday lunch this afternoon! Choice of starters, mains and Puddings on the set menu. Loved the courgette ratatouille, nice shape 😉 Roast dinner came with extra gravy. Relaxed atmosphere and pleasant and helpful staff. Recommended.

We stayed last weekend as part of the deal where you get the room fee back in free drinks and food. The hotel was great, generous sized rooms and very clean. We enjoyed the food in the brasserie and the drinks and cocktails were brilliant. I would like to especially compliment Matt who was part of the bar staff he made sure we was well looked after all night taking our order and providing us with food and drinks quickly he is a credit to your hotel! Would definitely stay again!

I’ve lived in Manchester for years and always have loved this place. I must say how impressed I was by the drinks, food and level of service! The manager Richard was beyond helpful alongside all staff.. we enquired about future room bookings and was given a sneak peek of the new fabulous rooms.

The food was outstanding, we've never had a bad meal here. The rating is a reflection of the service. The table was booked for 8:15pm, starters came quickly but our mains weren't served until after 10pm. We think they had forgotten as it came quickly after we asked where the food was but no explanation was given. They gave us free shots which tasted like blackcurrant juice not sure what they were. They did apologise but no discount or indemnity offered, albeit we didn't ask. We wouldn't normally put the review on but this is the second time in two visits that this has happened. A discount or fairer gesture of goodwill would have justified repeat custom but there's enough alternatives for us to take our business elsewhere

We chose to stay in the Velvet Hotel during our visit to Manchester to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. I had wanted to find a ‘quirky’ hotel rather than a chain. I’m so glad we stayed here! Everyone was so, so helpful and friendly and offered great recommendations for bars, restaurants and brunch offerings - online reviews are fab, but you can’t beat a personal recommendation. In particular, Mark was so very friendly and helpful 🙏🏼 The location of the hotel is great for Piccadilly train station and for the liveliness of Canal Street nightlife. We were not disturbed by any external noise. The room was very comfortable, very clean and stylishly decorated. I will have no reservations about staying here again when we return to Manchester Thank you for making our anniversary celebrations so memorable 🙏🏼

The food as ever is excellent, I was there Sunday and Tuesday. What was lacking was the quality of service. I was alone and after being shown to a table I patiently waited but it was 20 minutes before anyone took my drink order and noone showed n Me menu. Overall I was less than pleased.

Visited the brasserie for lunch with 2 friends on sunday. Food was fabulous. Staff were professional and attentive. Highly recommend a visit if your looking for great food and a lovely atmosphere.

Went for lunch in the Brasserie, had fish and chips and very pleased. Food was nice and tasty, good portion size so no complaints. Service felt a little slow in terms of being greeted at the entry counter to do the covid sign in etc... Even though place was very quiet and had to ask for a bill and no one asked if we wanted anything else after we ate the main course...but would still come back.

From checking in to checking out we were treated like royalty. The room we stayed in was beautiful. The decor was up to date and everything was controlled electronically. The bathroom had a shower and a huge bath which was so relaxing after a long day shopping. The beds and pillows in hotels are normally not very comfortable but even though the hotel is on a busy night time street we slept great and had no issues with the comfort of either the bed or pillows. The welcome drink on arrival was just perfect. We would not hesitate in staying here again.

Rooms fabulous. Location fabulous. Service fabulous. They have a what's app number you send messages to for anything you need and it's there amazingly quickly The staff are all friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and in perfect condition. Would definitely go back.

Great hotel & bar in a fab location. Rooms are a really high standard and luxurious. We couldn't fault anything whilst we were there. There will definitely be a return visit on the cards.

Very, very impressed by the rooms in this hotel. Big beds, good pillows, huge TV, lovely bathroom and mood lighting settings. Only stayed one night for business but considering coming back for a longer stay. Location is perfect for the train station - about 5 mins walk from Picadilly.

Good views from our room which was clean and tidy. Couldn't seem to get the air con/cooling to do anything so room was a bit too hot. You will get street noise as this is a night out location. A big water leak through the landing ceiling seemed to go unnoticed by the staff for a while. Might seem trivial but the milk in the room was off, so we asked for fresh milk and that was also off. So if you fancy a cup of tea or coffee in your room I wouldn't bother. 3 stars for the milk being off twice, the air con not working and water dripping off a nearby electric light fitting and no one bothering about it.

Lovely hotel with beautiful and comfortable rooms, but the club next door had music playing until 6am and even though we were on the third floor, I could hear every word of every song. It's a shame as this is nothing to do with the hotel as their own bar closes at 12pm, but it did mean one of us had no sleep. They have a problem with the drains and even though the bathroom looked fantastic, the smell coming from the showers made it unusable; we had to keep the bathroom door closed to keep the smell out of the room, but this meant the smell when you opened the door to use the facilities was even worse. Also, they tell you to contact reception via WhatsApp, which we did on 4 occassions but not once did we get a reply. Can't fault the staff though as they were pleasant and helpful.

Fantastic cocktails with a 2 for £14 offer most days. Great food and I really recommend the volcano pizza. Good service from friendly and helpful staff.

Rooms have no real soundproofing. You can hear absolutely everything from rooms nearby—from tv to intimate time. Staff wasn’t really supportive and just replied with “people just want to have fun.” Sleeping was quite impossible until people from other rooms went partying elsewhere.

Love the whole experience, food is awesome. Atmosphere just the best and the staff are welcoming. There is no many resturant better in Manchester. In my top 3

Stayed here while staying over to watch a show at the Palace Theatre. The room was a good size and the bed was superb...had the best night's sleep ever. The staff were all welcoming and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

The rooms were old and dirty. Nothing like the pictures. Paint coming off the walls, long hairs in the bathroom on the floor. After reporting this we were given another room located on the second floor above the bar. Until 5h in the morning we could sing along to every song. We reported this to the staff and the only response we got was that they indeed had an event. No apologies or nothing. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely not come back here.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
