The worst experience I’ve ever had in a hotel. There’s a lot so I’ll make a list. - The smell of cigarettes due to the owner smoking inside the building - Dirty bed sheets, towels, curtains, anything you can make was not clean. - Rude receptionist who threatened to burn our belonging if we didn’t leave the hotel for ‘banging and making too much noise’ (bare in mind this was less than 30 minutes after our arrival and the banging was simply footstep on the creaky floorboards) - No soap in the bathroom - Dirty toilets and stains all over the floors within the bathroom. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone regardless of their situation

No highlights what so ever. A case for zero stars to be an option Room was awful. Everywhere just stinks of cigarettes . The word deluxe should never ever be mentioned of the room, bathroom looked like it was from a horror movie. Mattress was a bit of foam, pillows was sandbags. Had to leave at 6am to get home to get a shower and all that for £200 for one night. Trading standards are on the case as I want my money back. Room 101 we thought it was an joke and room lol

10 mins away from the city centre or an hour away from Bury. It's a hostel with basic rooms and shared bathroom facilities. I had nowhere to hang towels or clothes and there was no remote for the television, walls, ceilings and floors are paper thin so if someone moves you can hear them. There was no plug next to the bed

AVOID AVOID AVOID, this place is absolutely disgusting. The room had stains on the walls, stains on the carpets and dirty bedding. It clearly hasn’t been cleaned properly. The staff were really unwelcoming and when asked for a refund started to get aggressive. Left the hotel and went somewhere else. Wouldn’t put my worst enemy in this place.

TERRIBLE. GUEST HOUSE FROM HELL. Never ever again. Bad smells, feels unsafe. Cigarette burns everywhere, discoloured bed sheets and furniture, the dressing table was disgusting, blankets stunk of dampness. bathroom from hell. All the paint was coming off the walls, barely any toilet roll, black grout all around the shower. Didnt even want to step foot in the bathroom at all. Cracked sink, dirty mirrors. Holes in curtain. Springy beds. Smelt like damp and mould the entire time. Dirty carpet. The whole guesthouse had bad carpet and stains all over the skirting boards, it’s just a very unclean place in general. Needs a serious renovation. One word. GLOOMY. You don’t feel safe in this place at all. Don’t make the same mistake I did, pay a little extra and go somewhere safer and cleaner

AVOID! SCAM! DISGUSTING! From the beginning of our stay we experienced poor customer service and strong smell of cigarettes in the whole building. Both of the owners were extremely unhelpful and when we arrived at 7pm stated that one of our rooms was not ready, considering check in was from 3pm….The rooms we received had not been cleaned, there was 8 empty Diet Coke cans in the drawers of the bed side table, dirty towels, holes in the walls and unwashed bedding. The bathroom conditions where poor with mouldy walls and lack of toiletries. This establishment needs to be closed!

Noisy guests!!! Once the receptionist found us a replacement room after they realised we were double booked, we found ourselves in the only remaining room. The guests then proceeded to spend the next 8 hours obliterating the no excessive noise rule and were screaming down the corridors, drunkenly shouting throughout the night, banging on doors and having shouting matches over the phone. These were all different people mind. It was a joke Nothing was enforced or organised. So despite the room itself being fine, the rest was abysmal. And it's a fair ways away from the centre.

I stayed here last minute after getting weird and uncomfortable vibes from the hostel I was supposed to stay at. While Queens Guest House was by no means a five star hotel, I found it warm, quiet and felt totally safe. I can understand why someone might not enjoy an extended stay there - it definitely wasn't the cleanest (but neither was it totally disgusting) - but for me it wound up being a great place to sleep off the jet lag and move on the next morning. If you are looking for a reasonably priced place to spend a night or two, and can tolerate some weird smells and cobwebs, this is a great option.

This was a cheap and cheerful place that was definitely worth the money. The room was big and airy, it was clean, comfortable, and the staff were wonderfully friendly. The whole place is a bit on the shabby side but the staff make sure that the guests are respectful and quiet so you can be sure of a good night's sleep. The location is great too - it's a 2 minute walk to the bus stop, which run regularly into the city centre and the journey takes about 10 minutes. A taxi costs less than a tenner into the city and if you can be bothered, it's less than a 30 minute walk. Good value - I'd stay again.

It was terrible. Dirty, messy, ugly. Thank God, I had booked for two nights. I do not recommend at all. Even though when I made the reservation, it was written that the room is cleaned every day, but not doing so, they said that you booked for two days, there is no need for cleaning😑

Was here for our friends birthday and Pride was on, the Queen's Guest House is one of the best hotels we've ever been to, the rooms were nice and tidy, the garden is really chill and the hosts are the best you'll ever find. So accomodating and friendly, they're really chatty and make you feel welcome. I'd definitely return there again.

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID NOW. Rating is 0 star. There was 8 of us that booked the guest house. We arrived first. We went inside and did not get a warm welcome at all. Gave our names went upstairs there was no lift so was hard with luggage to go upstairs. We were put in the attic which didn’t help taking the luggage upstairs. Entered the room. The room was smelly and the bed felt uncomfortable when I just only sat on it. The bathroom was leaking with water. Then my brother arrived which he had booked separate room for three. Steward asked for ID then which was fishy as they never asked us first. There was no professionalism at all at this place. The dressing table was broken and out of date. Hygiene was not good at all. My brother went in his room he wasn’t happy aswell. There was no tv in both rooms. My brother went downstairs to have a word. Steward came to the girls room without knocking being rude, he had a attitude. (What if we were getting changed) Didn’t find this safe at all. Steward cancelled boys room which was not acceptable as he wanted the girls to stay found that scary and unsafe for us to stay. Didn’t get our full refund back. Very disappointed with this place. The door locks not safe and secure. Smelt like smoke and weed. Parking not safe as it states private parking. No garden view as it stated. No tv as it stated. No hairdryer as it stated. It was freezing inside the room could have got really ill if we stayed the night there. There was No sockets at it states. There was no smoke detector in the room which was soo unsafe. Didn’t expect this all as what the description they have online. There has been many complaints about this place so I think someone should go and investigate and do something about it. He’s a scam.

This place must to be closed immediately, the room was dirty, they didn't even changed the bed sheets as I could see hair around the bed, they "FORGOT" to give us some bath towels and there was just a little of toilet paper in the bathroom to conclude with this unacceptable way to work, while we were having a shower an angry guy was knocking really loudly at the door saying that the water was dripping through the ceiling. I know it is really cheap, but at least I expect the basics of a guest house, this is just unbelievable. Avoid!

As I was pulling up to the place, I got a phone call telling me that they had double booked and that my room had gone to somebody else. They were able to let me stay in a more expensive room but only once expedia had agreed to pay the difference (they would have kicked us out if the extra wasn't paid). The location is great but the sheets weren't as stain free as they should be and the mattress was only slightly more comfortable than I imagine the floor would have been. It is overpriced but easy to get taxis from, however, I'd recommend going almost anywhere else.

Beds clean, not very comfortable. Room stunk of smoke. Walls stained and damaged. The window didn't shut. The shower drain was blocked. There was a hole in the floor.

The service was awful, no one at the reception and we had to wait 15 minutes for somebody to appear, the rooms were so tiny and had bad smells, the sink was broken and glued together. The location was also very inconvenient for a stay in Manchester.

  • 1/5 Saakib K. 7 months ago on Google
Very rude host, implied I was lying when I mentioned that the receptionist did not tell me about a late £10 check in fee. I'm fine paying the amount as I was indeed late, however the truth still holds that I was not told about the late fee when I rang the first time!

Had to cancel my stay, spoke to the hotel who said no problem put a request to cancel and you will get a refund! So far five days on and no refund?!

A great guest house good for accommodation, very comfortable the selection of the free drink (tea, chocolate, coffee) was pleasant , the room was clean , plenty of space for clothing and everything. So easy to get in and out from the outdoor through the key operator system. You can see that the try to make as much as they can from the little that they have. Good people and worth of stay!

Grotesque! The worst place. The room was dirty, there were no towels and toilet paper, we had to ask for towels at the reception and one of the two was used. At the reception the guy just pointed to the room through the camera without even telling us the number. But worst of all was one of the owner who knocked on our door, and tried to open the door violently, every morning because the water from the shower was dripping into the ceiling!! Seriously, stay away from this place it's awful.

Very expensive! The owners definitely took advantage of the fact that there was events all over the city on this weekend, we last minute got hold of tickets for an event at AO Arena and this seemed one of very few rooms left in Machester. We paid £230 for a twin room, this room should have been £120 max (and that's been generous) the rooms are extremely tired, bathrooms aren't suitable to use, decor needs a tidy and the beds are essentially a very thin piece of foam. You can tell the owners are hard working as they were cleaning when we checked in but my issue is the price, the don't get what you pay for.

Great price , easy check in , room was clean and warm and next to shower and toilet , good location , walked straight down Cheatham Hill and into Piccadily ...definitely be back again .

  • 3/5 shane l. 1 year ago on Google
Clean and tidy enough until we moved the beds around were there was mold being hidden. This was the only discomfort of which was an otherwise satisfactory room for a budget price. I'd go back unless I won the lottery. Good location with nearby transport links to city centre.

  • 4/5 Samuel T. 1 year ago on Google
Better than the sum of its parts. Yes, it's a guesthouse so don't expect luxury. But let's be honest. Who actually does unless you are rolling in it. What you get is a generously fair deal for the very little it costs to stay in this quirky, Warren like, odd-ball filled mini mansion, with a lovely relaxing spacious and sociable front garden garden, set in a very unassuming part of Manchester.

Worst place I’ve ever stayed - if I could give it no stars I wouldn’t hesitate to. The room was nothing like the picture on the website, we paid extra for a tv and other facilities and they weren’t given, the room was filthy and the toilet was flooded. The man was very rude and had an aggressive manner, he walked into our room without knocking which was appalling! We were so disappointed we didn’t even stay for the two nights we booked and we still haven’t received our refund. I would certainly not recommend.

  • 1/5 Thomas f. 1 year ago on Google
AVOID AT ALL COSTS This is easily the worst place I’ve ever (tried) to stay, double the price of a travelodge and with no access to basic services. Paid £460 for a group of 10 to stay, had to share beds and had 2 small rooms. Then, when we played music we’re immediately booted out of venue with little to no warning, and the police called when we wanted to discuss this. £46 each for less than an hour of time at the “guest house” horrible aggressive steward who was unwilling to cooperate in any way, currently looking for a way to try and get a refund, had to sleep 4 people to a car as it was 11:30pm and we couldn’t find a nearby hotel, worst experience I have ever had, certainly ever paid for. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES ever consider trying this place.

The room we were given was bad due to our booked room being flooded. The bathroom was filthy, sink not cleaned properly.

I was unable to get anywhere else to stay that was cheaper and I began to have my reservations after stupidly only reading the reviews after I'd paid. I paid around £600 for a 20 night stay if I recall correctly. Overall, I had a good stay and if it hadn't been for the comparatively low price, I'd have had nowhere else to go. The guy and his wife who own and run the place were friendly, very helpful and I was changed to a larger room upon arrival for no extra cost which was a lovely surprise. This will be quite long if I don't put it in list format: GOOD - -Comparatively low price, -Large shared CLEAN shower/bathroom area, -Shared microwave and fridge, -Community feel, -Decent TV in the room, -Sink and mirror in the room, -Free towel and bedding change whenever requested, -Free bin emptying and room cleaning service whenever requested, -Free tea and coffee service provided, -Mosquito nets over the windows and little light entering through from streetlamps which meant sleep was good. -Noise-free policy which meant guests can get sleep. BAD- -A fridge and microwave were provided, but no cooker? This means guests have to spend a fortune eating out every day or are reduced to microwave meals. Surely a working shared cooker wouldn't be too hard to provide? -The ground floor stank of smoke despite the multiple no smoking signs. Hypocrites! -NO STORAGE in the bedrooms which is completely unacceptable. Where the hell are guests meant to put their clothes for longer stays?? -The heating was CONSTANTLY on full EVEN DURING A HEATWAVE which is ridiculous -Tumble drier and washing machine were provided but the water piping was just lying disconnected on the floor and there was no power outlet to plug them into. Why provide them if they can't actually be used? -Bed sheets were too large for the bed so they kept coming off as they weren't taught. -No parking, but that can't be helped given the city location. -Desk wobbled and was badly stained and torn which rendered it almost useless. -Bedroom doors didn't feel at all secure and were accessible via a KEY as opposed to a much safer KEYCARD. -Lift is permanently out of order. -Mouse in Room 204 which eats your food and there's nowhere else to put non-perishables. Could also expose you to dangerous diseases such as leptospirosis -When leaving, nobody takes the key from you; you just deposit it in a box. In terms of the legal implications, this is very risky. *Overall* - If you're just looking for somewhere safe to sleep at night because there's nowhere else, then this place is a great option and I'd use it again under those circumstances. But if you're looking for decent accommodation to stay in, say for a holiday, and especially if you are travelling as a family - go elsewhere if you have the money.

We paid 27 quid for a double room, I mean come on! It was clean, it was dry, it was warm and the room was secure. This is Manchester if you think you'll find anything better than this deal then your sadly mistaken. We had a good nights sleep after our concert at the O2. We spent about the same on taxi fares to and from as we paid for the room. Hell two rounds at the O2 and we spent more on drinks than the room cost. Would we come back at that rate cause we would. The reviews we read were the worst part of our stay. We never had any issues like any of the reviews we read.
