First class stay in a first class hotel! Everything was amazing. The staff were fabulous, so friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculate- full of lovely little touches to enhance our stay. We ordered balloons and flowers as extras and they were perfect. Breakfast was superb- so much choice- loved the morning shots! Super service from Syed. Extra shout out to Abbie from guest services for being amazing and going above and beyond for us. We had the most perfect time. Will definitely be back.

A stunning hotel with excellent staff and service. The breakfast was much better than similar standard hotels and the room was delightful. My only slight issue was receiving an email and then another 'suggestion' on my booking confirmation asking me if I wanted an upgrade. Each request or suggestion was at a different price. Apart from that, it was wonderful.

Had a brilliant time over the Bank Holiday weekend with husband and two older children. The hotel is beautiful, very spacious room for four people with a powerful shower and plenty of hot water. The breakfast is vast and good quality although service was a little slow at times as the hotel was full over Pride weekend. But we didn't mind as we were having such a good time. There's a disco here Thursday to Saturday, but we had a room on the third floor so it wasn't too much of a bother to us. There's a great bar and a daily social hour with free drinks from 5-6:00pm in the week and from 6:00pm at the weekend. There's even a business centre here if you really must work! The location is also very central - we parked the car up for 4 days and walked everywhere. I would definitely come here again.

We have given everything a 5 star rating, because its how we felt about the place. Rooms are large, tall ceilings and a little quirky. Social hour is a great touch and breakfast is enjoyable served in splendour (complimentary for Diamond Elite)

Great location, amazing rooms, fantastic breakfast and helpful staff! It wasn't even that expensive compared to other options. The hotel building is enough to make me return - it's in a redeveloped Victorian insurance building, and the architecture has been really well preserved. The tiled corrdors, the 15-foot ceilings, the stained glass and the domed atrium entrance hall are all really spectacular. However, it's still really functional as a hotel (despite being a bit of a maze to navigate) - the rooms were comfortable, the bathroom was very well equipped with lovely toiletries, and the shower pressure was fantastic. Breakfast was probably a highlight of the stay. I thought it was quite expensive at £22 per person, although we luckily had it included in the rate. But it was definitely one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. The hot selection was excellent quality and cooked to perfection (especially the hash browns - I'd come back for those alone). There were plenty of cereals, pastries, fruit and juices, and the tea and coffee served to the table was much nicer than the usual machine/self-service choices at most hotels. Overall a really nice experience, and I'd definitely choose this hotel again for a stay in Manchester.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in in the UK. The building is so impressive, the rooms looking out to the front are large with high ceilings. The staff in the lobby and breakfast area are excellent. The buffet breakfast also, excellent. Just one negative, our last full day we left the room at 9am, returned at 445pm and it still had not been cleaned. We asked them to come back after 610pm when we leave again. We arrived back at 930pm and it still had not been done. I called to the front desk and they claimed the cleaning staff had reported they had done it which was a lie. I won't let a couple of people's dishonesty let the rest of the staff down though as they were amazing and so is their hotel.

My partner and I were only there for one night, and I have decided it's the only place I want to stay when I'm in Manchester. The decor in the foyer is fun and quirky, we especially loved the giant cabinate fashioned into an old looking suitcase. We were greeted by Christina, who made us feel welcome from the get go, she was happy, and enthusiastic and you could tell she enjoyed what she did. Checking in was quick and easy, and she told us of a gathering that was happening that evening for the guest and staff to mingle. Unfortunately we were unable to attend, but would have loved to if we had the time. The room was great, spacious, clean, and the bed was huge. Bathroom was lovely too. The bed was comfortable to sleep in. We had breakfast included and although I wasn't feeling too well, my partner had a cooked breakfast which he said was very good, and hot drinks came quick which was good as we didn't have too much time before we had to leave for home. I can't wait for my next visit.

Great little stop over for a night at this hotel. An old building with lots of history. A sprawling location of bars, restaurant, sitting areas, a grand reception and vast ballroom. Finding your bearings once inside can be a bit of an effort. Room was clean and well presented. A bit of a shame there was no welcome pack or menus in the room to help you work out what is available and worth trying rather, than venturing out to find food and a decent bar.

Great place if you are looking for a comfortable get away. Well located near the train station and city centre. Breakfast was excellent, staff helpful and friendly. Lots of entertainment and a gym to work out. Will definitely stay here again.

This was quite an expensive weekend stay, however it was definitely worth it and it made our weekend. The room was quality, large areas with lovely high ceilings, it was stocked with everything you could need during our stay. The interior of the building and architecture are something to get gooey over. The breakfast was substantial again it was everything you could want and more. Very Well Done to the Staff and IHG would visit most definitely again 10/10.

Only one night of my two night stay but I’d say they are fabulous. I arrived from the airport at 1150a. I kindly asked if they happened to have a room for early check-in, they were very full the night before but the agent worked for a few minutes and delighted me with a room for early check-in. We chatted about how I had arrived from the US in the morning and was very exhausted. I know she may have gone beyond policy by doing such an early check-in but the impact to My travels were so significant I just can’t thank her or the hotel enough. Thank you!!! Oh the room and hotel are gorgeous as well :)

Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful building, service lovely, spacious and quirky rooms, really good sized and well equipped gym, complementary drinks each evening..... pretty much perfect.

Only visited the Refuge bar for lunch and drinks, but I was blown away. Beautiful building, trendy interior design, and great food served…highly recommend! I thought the team working in the bar area did an excellent job too, all super helpful and welcoming!

Such a gorgeous hotel (huuge), great location for town. Nice atmosphere, staff were excellent. Room was really nice, comfy bed and nice hot shower. Parking is just up the street.

At a work conference for the fragrance shop so didn't venture out of the street really. Absolutely fantastic staff and gorgeous hotel couldn't fault it. Would love to go again its beautiful. Food and cocktails amazing. Loads of lovely choice for breakfast. Melt in your mouth beef and Yorkshire pudding Sunday. The staff are outstanding. Would highly recommend. Hope I can visit again very soon.

After being let down by our original choice in hotel in Chorley, we made a very last minute booking to the Clocktower hotel and began to drive a further 50 minutes (after a 2.5 hour drive) to get here. Needless to say, we are so glad we did! Our entire experience at this hotel has been exceptional from arrival to departure! The customer service is outstanding from reception desk to waitresses to housekeeping - everyone was happy and extremely lovely! A special shout-out to Steven who helped us on arrival and was more than helpful, answering all of our questions and is genuinely lovely! The hotel itself is of a beautiful standard - it has a stunning design that is out of this world whilst also maintaining high cleanliness standards. Especially in the bedrooms - our bedroom was rather small, however the decoration in the room was of a high quality, the bed was extremely comfortable and they also had heavy black out curtains too - which completely made up for the size of the room! Oh and the bathroom was beautiful too! We only had breakfast on one day due to my husband competing at bodybuilding on the Sunday - which I regret as the breakfast was absolutely amazing! So much choice, attentive staff and very high customer service standards! All of the waiting staff for breakfast this morning were so helpful and very lovely! All in all - this was an unexpected last minute stay, but we will 100% be back again and advise anyone to stay here!

Great hotel. Beautiful bedrooms they were perfect. From the air con down to the little tuck box in your room. Friendly staff at all times. The breakfast was of full variety and plenty of choice for everyone. I absolutely had a grt weekend and would certainly love to come back to this hotel. When next in Manchester.

This hotel is another level! Great location! The rooms are huge! Staff are excellent. The design brings a modern twist while keeping within the prestige of the hotel. Can’t recommend enough. We had complimentary snacks. Pride weekend was on during our stay but the room was able to block out the noise for a peaceful rest. Probably the best hotel I’ve stayed in for the UK. A++

Absolutely stunning hotel, with amazingly caring and personable staff. Great amenities. 25 minite walk to shopping area and just a short walk to a number for bars. The Refuge is a super cute place with delicous cocktails and a cool vibe. The whole stay was one of the best experiences I've had. The manager of the hotel as well as every front desk rep went above and beyond for us. Will 100% stay here again!

Luxury hotel in an amazing building - the quality of the conversion is wonderful and there are so many well preserved aspects of the original building that it's worth just dropping into the lobby to check it out. Staff are ready and able to help with all of your potential needs while in the city and there are useful extras such as the opportunity to borrow bikes, umbrellas and even a potted plant for your stay! Highly recommended given just how little you'd pay over a standard cookie cutter hotel in the city.

The hotel was so beautiful and luxury, receptionist Aby assist us and she is really kind and friendly. The king room we had was gorgeous, I love the vintage style, we had s great sleep, the bar is fabulous. All the staff were very kind and helpful. It was great to stay in your hotel. Thank you

What a beautiful visit, we opted for an upgrade on arrival and had the worlds largest bed. We took our large basset and we were extremely impressed that no where was off limits, yes, this included the restaurant! Al the staff were lovely and extremely helpful. The breakfast was to die for. The location of the hotel couldn’t have been more perfect. If you are looking for a perfect stay- this is it. Back to the bed- I haven’t slept through since we had Alfred, he insists on sleeping in our bed and at 7 stone you can imagine the room he takes up but this HUGE bed allowed all three of us to sleep like Disney princess!!!

The location is fantastic and the hotel itself is beautiful. However, for the price you pay the overall experience is rather mediocre. The staff is rather inflexible with petitions (such as, if we pay for a premium suite, could we get a room with a bathtub? Or, any chance of early check-in?). The most frustrating part was we got a bouquet of flowers delivered to the hotel on Friday, and reception never brought them to the room, so we only got them on Sunday, when, after specifically asking, they gave them to us. Obviously after being in a box for two days without water, the flowers were mainly dead. Overall experience not worth the price.

This hotel is marvellous, it is in an historic building with an actual clocktower!! When does this happen? Everything everywhere breaths history, the room was big enough and clean. Breakfast was rich and delicious. Everyone was kind.

Recently spent a few nights at this hotel & was very satisfied with my stay. Fantastic architecture and interior design throughout the building. Located very close to Manchester Oxford Road station and a couple of car parks. I would recommend the Q-Park First Street if arriving by car. A couple of minor issues with the room I was allocated: -No bedside lights or plug sockets -The basin hot water tap was far too hot to use.

Stunning hotel. It’s probably the best place to stay in Manchester. Pretty central and closer to the Palace theatre. The bar is amazing. Hotel serves great breakfast options. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Highly recommend.

My parents and I stay here often when my Parents are visiting Manchester and its the only place they want to stay when visiting me. Every member of staff makes us feel welcome from the start. Efficient check-in. Genuine interest in our custom. The rooms are great, spacious, clean, and the beds are comfy and huge. Bathrooms are lovely too. Lovely breakfast. Attentive restaurant and bar service. Efficient check-out. Fantastic hotel in Manchester City centre, a few moments from Oxford road station and about 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly station (top tip don’t get a taxi it will cost you more than it’s worth, jump on a train to Oxford road if you don’t want to walk - it really is outside the station).

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Friendly and helpful staff, large rooms with high ceilings, a substantial breakfast selection, daily social hour drinks. The Refuge bar within the hotel is also excellent. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality stay in central Manchester.

Amazingly spacious rooms and lovely bathroom. Extras included were a nice touch e.g. snacks and bottles of water. Staff were really friendly. Fitness centre was simple but clean and had a selection of machines/weights and free cans of water. I'd echo previous reviews about the hairdryers not reaching far away from the mirrors so you had to dry your hair kneeling down which is not ideal but manageable! Would definitely recommend!

  • 5/5 Olivia N. 2 years ago on Google
The staff were so welcoming and friendly from reception right through to the restaurant. They were able to cater for early check in as we'd arrived on an early flight and needed some sleep! Such a stunning place to stay and would highly recommend. Will definitely be back!

This hotel deserves more rating for friendliness, but it's not all about it. They have very nice rooms and, more importantly, very tidy! They have put good measures in place to improve their standards. The restaurant was lovely. It a lovely place with lovely staff as well. Beware not to get lost as this place is massive and can be confusing.

Beautiful hotel in a great central location. The reception staff were amazing and the room was spotlessly clean. As other reviews have mentioned, there was a lot of noise at night from trains and people out on the town (this isn't something that bothered us personally and is to be expected for the location). I would definitely stay again and had a wonderful time.

I went for a conference so I can't assess the rooms. The hotel is magnificent, the former refuge assurance building. Full of character. Lots of old tiling. Dressed for Christmas it's absolutely gorgeous. The staff are that blend of delightful northern friendly and helpful whist remaining professional and competent.

Great location, and a wonderful atmosphere here. We were visiting family just before Christmas, and stayed here for a two night stay. The hotel was beautifully decorated, very festive with lots of Christmas trees everywhere. The garden orangery where we had breakfast was magical with fairy lights through the trees. Our room had two double beds and a lovely ensuite bathroom. There were extra pillows and even a yoga mat in the wardrobe. Lots of tea ,coffee and complimentary snacks in the room (crisps and chocolate bars) Bathroom was clean with lots of lovely full sized products to use. The only slight criticism ,was that our room wasn't cleaned/ replenished until after 2pm on our second day ,we had been out, and just wanted to chill when we got back in,( i had the beginnings of flu.) The housekeeper was very quick and sorted everything out. Breakfast was pretty good ,it was a nice touch to have a fruit juice shot presented to our breakfast table whilst we placed our order. The porridge, and smoked salmon with scrambled egg dishes were well received by my husband, All in all a lovely place to stay in a great location

I just use the bar, but it's lovely. Very nice and pretty grand interior. They often have small art displays too which I like. The bar stocks a nice range of ale, does great cocktails and isn't as expensive as you might otherwise assume. Great place to start or finish your evening.

From masterful hospitality to expert cleanliness, the Manchester Kimpton Fitzroy is a delight. I stayed solo for two nights in December 2022, and it was perfect for Christmas. Spacious rooms, great offering inside and beautifully modern yet timeless decor - fitting the history of the building perfectly. The restaurant, REFUGE was splendid. Small plates and wonderful non alcoholic drinks to suit my tastes. Will always return, and consistently recommend to those off to Manchester. Bravo!

A very warm welcome from the staff and helpful. Explained all the facilities available, restaurant, bar, gym etc. If you are an IHG member, there are complimentary drinks in the bar at certain times. Enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend

Best stay ever. Stayed for one night whilst seeing a concert. Wonderful hotel. Lovely staff including Mathew at the front desk who helped us get a plant for our room. Rooms were immaculate. And breakfast was exceptional. Would stay here again 100%.

Service and staff were rude at the reception desk. Given that it was our wedding day really put a dampner on the day. Room was very noisy woken up by train/tram multiple times in the early hours of the morning. Would not recommend for the price paid.

  • 5/5 B M. 1 year ago on Google
Service at the reception was great. The room was spacious but noisy from the road, as drafty due to being the original windows from the 1920s I think. The breakfast was lovely but it wasn't self service on the hot food, I stood waiting with my plate for a long time, as only one person was serving the full English. But the staff serving were happy and polite. I found the hotel expensive for the one night without spa facilities. Would I stay again?

  • 4/5 Bolland- J. 1 year ago on Google
Overall great food, location, decor. Only issues being my room was really, really cold and half a floor down but all manageable for an evening. Work outside began at 7am on a Sunday which wasn't ideal but again for 1 night it was fine.

Great place to stay in a brill location. Really liked that our 2 dogs stayed at no extra cost and they were made to feel super welcome. All of the staff were great and food and drink were also top notch.

Great ambiance and very comfortable hotel. The restaurant is probably one of the best in manchester. During our stay, mini bar was complimentary and they had a complimentary happy hour too. Friendly staff, unbeatable location, marvelous breakfast. They also offer bikes.

Great old City hotel in the heart of Manchester! The bar atmosphere is great and also the orangerie is lovely to have breakfast in. Steven, the receptionist, was very helpful and customer oriented when we had some issues with our booking through American Express. The rooms are nice and tidy, though the aircon was very noisy.

I found the room very comfortable and clean. I had a very good nights sleep as the hotel was quiet with heavy black out curtains. I would definitely visit this hotel again.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
