Worn and dated. The room and it's facilities were as if they were my grandparents' 20 years ago. The ground floor button was hanging by a thread in the tiny lift, and fell off completely the next day. The second lift was out of order. I expected more from a Copthorne; we would have got much better quality from a Premier Inn.

This hotel is a time warp to the 80s with the rooms feeling very dated and worn out. The beds offer a comfortable nights sleep but I wouldn't recommend it for a holiday. Bring yourself some ear plugs, the plumbing bangs, the bathroom fans stay on almost all day and, if you happen to be in the wrong rooms, all you'll here are the ventilation from the kitchens or gym all night! Any rooms above the second floor tend to be very warm so you'll need to leave the windows open, but then all you'll here is the noise of the city. You'll also want to unplug the mini fridge in your room (just drag it forward and pull the plug) , these are both noisy and generate so much heat it's like leaving a mini radiator on full blast! I stay here for business and only because they have a good sized car park. The breakfast is below par with no allergens catered for. The hot food is warm at best and very rubbery. No way is it worth the £11.99 they charge, you'd be better off with a box of cereal from the local co-op! The restaurant and bar food is okay but you're in for a shock when you see the price! Take a trip to Media City (less than 2 miles away) and enjoy some far cheaper and better food there, please! The staff are pleasant enough but there always seems to be a language barrier whenever I stay here with staff unable to understand what a food allergy is. How this hotel is rated as four stars is beyond me, I've stayed in two star hotels that are better! As somewhere to stay for one or two nights on business it is fine, but do yourself a favour and avoid it for any stays longer than that!

I stayed on a Saturday night when visiting my daughter who is at Uni. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff were efficient and friendly. The room was the standard size corporate feel room with larger than average windows which was nice. Room was well maintained and comfortable. Breakfast was the standard large hotel buffet so the hot food had been out a while and was warm. A selection of fruit and cereals, just the expected range, nothing to set it aside from Jurys or Holiday Inn. The hotel is a 5 min stroll from the Exchange Quay tram which is handy. Overall a pleasant stay, but nothing to make it memorable.

Dated decor… very eighties. Needs a total revamp. TV remote in room did not work properly. Bathroom was not of a great standard. Limited plug sockets in room. Breakfast was great quality and only £10 if you pay each day rather than pre-booking. Evening food limited and over priced for what you get. Was a work trip so served it’s purpose. Definitely not 4 star.

Had a pleasant stay at the Copthorne. Good Location and large room with great views over Salford Quays. Large windows meant Room got very hot on Sunny days but a mobile Air Conditioning unit was in the room. Good Breakfast but over priced. Went elsewhere after the first night.

Hotel is really dated. Needs a decent overhall to meet standards of other much nicer hotels in the area. In which case the prices are far too high. Room was clean but on returning in the evening it was full of flies...we gave this the benefit of the doubt as it was a warm evening hence why we didn't bring it up with reception. On checking in we were told we had been upgraded to a 'Club' room. We couldn't work out why this room was an upgrade and if so wouldn't like to have stayed in the standard rooms! For such a popular chain this hotel could be so much more! Shame.

The hotel is really nice, the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The food there is generally of a very high standard and of a reasonable price too. I would ask to turn down the air freshener in the lobby please.

Hotel decor and furnishings are tired and dated. No air conditioning anywhere, so it made for an uncomfortable night's sleep and dining experience. Staff were friendly and food was good as was the location but overall this does not measure up to its 4 star rating.

Not a bad hotel, clean enough and good location. However the mattress isn't great and the pillows are a bit hard. Restaurant looked decent but we didn't eat there. Parkings good. Just depends on how good a sleep you fancy.

So the hotel is in a great location, the staff are friendly and so helpful the reception looks great for me it was the room I felt like i was in my grandma's bedroom in the 70s/80s the rooms and the bathroom were so dated and I paid 89 pounds for it.The only thing that saved the room was the beautiful view from our window but won't be stopping there again. I can get a premier inn with modern rooms for the same price Another thing is breakfast there wasn't much vegetarian options for hot food only like hash browns or beans so I just had toast and cereal.

Annoyed This might have been a more generous review but for the hotels total unwillingness to reply to any correspondence I have sent pertaining to property I left behind. Despite 2 emails sent I have received no response whatsoever. I appreciate this was my error but would be willing to pay the postage myself. The item was definitely left in the room so they either believe I am not worth the time or energy or my items as been stolen. The rooms were quite dated and although a small drinks fridge was provided, it did not work. I tried to call reception twice from my room to get the TV access authorised (never heard of anything like it before) but nobody answered. A third call was also unswered to ask about availability of a fan. On calling room service the line was not working so I had to go to the bar to order my evening meal. There was mold around the rim of the bathroom sink, between the marble worktop and basin and heavy rust on the towel rail which was quite off-putting. The room was very warm and with no available air con and windows that would not open, I asked for a fan at reception but was told these were not available. The bathroom had no extractor fan. Reception staff were average but the server at breakfast was beyond miserable and uninviting. No vegetarian cooked breakfast items were available. Positive points. Comfortable bed, nice view of the Q

Overall hotel was good. It's a little dated in places, but my room was clean and everything worked, food was good and I got a good night's sleep. The shower in my room was so powerful!! Just wish it would have been a shower cubicle not over a bath with a curtain.

We stayed for dinner in the Clippers restaurant, 1 night, and then breakfast. Reception was very functional and efficient. Cleaning staff all spoke - friendly environment. Dinner was fine too. Restaurant staff were good. Room was extremely hot so a poor nights sleep. Staff carry small fans on them and rooms have large fans in them but they don't really help. An issue to the point I wouldn't stay again in hot weather. Quay view rooms have a nice view - the other side you have the car park and main road. No issue with noise though. Breakfast had all the things you'd expect on the usual buffet breakfast. Good berries smoothie too in the fridge. Checkout was very efficient. Plenty of room in the car park too which was free as we had booked direct.

Very good value for money. Comfy bed. Spacious room and clean. Nice view of the quays. Mini fridge in room and sofa and table. Bathroom had both a shower and a bath. Love my baths. Breakfast was great. All staff were lovely.

  • 5/5 Taher K. 7 months ago on Google
What a great hotel this turned out to be! Not very expensive, and only 3* but great views of the Quays from every room! Breakfast was a bit expensive, but was sumptuous. They were reminded to arrange the food so that pork was segregated from the vegetarian foods on service.

The hotel looked a little dated. The bathroom looked tired and need of an upgrade. The room was hot and we had to use the fan to cool the baby down but the noise made it difficult to sleep. We booked the Copthorne for its reputation but might have been better staying elsewhere. Staff were friendly and receptionist particularly v helpful

Excellent stay. However, extended stay, arriving a day early and booking on the day. The room, which would have otherwise gone unsold was pricey and no discount was available. It cost 3 times what I’d already paid. I would potentially stay again but go through a 3rd party which are usually a lot cheaper.

Very good hotel. Room has everything you need (although they are a little dated). The beds are comfortable. Staff are friendly and efficient. We've stayed here a couple of time now and would highly recommend it.

Disappointing stay. We booked a club room but were given a standard room with a few extra drinks and ONE robe for a double? This has happened the last 3 times we have stayed - absolutely no idea why they have a 1 robe in a double room policy? The room was awful. The bathroom had cracked tiles, stains around the bath taps, ingrained grime on the floor and edging and the occasional smell of sewerage from the drain. The air con unit looked like something from a bygone era and was noisy and ineffective. The whole room needs a complete overhaul & reminded me of a scene from The Shining. Breakfast - plenty of choice but cheap & poor ingredients in some parts. Toasting machine wasn't fit for purpose & caused queues. It felt a bit like a cheap package tour holiday breakfast experience. We have stayed here many times in the past and have been increasingly disappointed with the last few stays but this stay has been the nail in the coffin and I don't think we will be returning. On the positive, the staff are lovely and attentive. This, along with the free parking, is the only saving grace.

We had a great time, with attentive service from the very first phone call I made about the reservation to our check-out. The staff couldn't have done more to make us feel looked after! We forgot items in the mini-fridge, and the hotel manager accompanied us back to our room to help us look for our items and discuss with the cleaning staff where we could find them. 10/10!

Always stay here, Handy with free parking and 5-6 minutes into town. Decent size rooms, staff are always very attentive. Price isn't too expensive either.

Great little hotel, we had a one night stay whilst attending a gig at the Victoria warehouse. Great location, lovely staff, good quality breakfast and parking included. The rooms are dated and could do with a freshen up, but the bed was really comfy. Would definitely stay again.

A very nice room. Perfect location for Salford. Excellent parking facilities. It would be good to have a power circuit by each side of the bed or, at last. USB port to charge the phone.

Stayed here overnight for a business trip. Room was clean so well done on that. Didnt use their food services but proces seemed reasonable Improvements to make: mixer tap on sink would be very welcome as the hot water really is very hot. The bathroom generally is quite dated, could do with modernisation but its extremely clean. The furniture too felt dated but again, does the job and was clean. Tooms could do with more soundproofing. I was able to hear the traffic outside and other guests in neighbouring rooms

We stayed there for two nights. The stay was okay, but the water in the shower was very hot and my whole family couldn't manage to change its temperature. I was not able to take a shower since it felt like my skin would be burned off. I had to use the cup for toothbrushes and pour water from the sink in order to wash myself. Other than that the stay was fine. But after our stay we realized that money was debited from our card. We used a parking space, which we told the Hotel. When noted, there shouldn't be an extra fee for parking a car. Still, we now payed 60 £ for two nights, but normally would have payed zero.We called the Hotel und wrote several Emails, but until today (about 3 months later) we haven't got any money back. I am very unpleased about this situation and due to that would not recommend a stay under any circumstances.

Great hotel in an excellent location, 2 mins from the tram into town which then took about 15 and with free parking. Our room was great with everything you would need and more: room safe, fridge with complimentary water and fizzy drinks, excellent hospitality tray fluffy towels and dressing gown and slippers. An extra bonus was the view of the canal which was especially pretty at night. We took advantage of the offer of breakfast in the room and we were impressed! All our choices were there in excellent portions and quality. We will have to find a reason to return! Highly recommended!

Rooms were very nice, and there was great customer service throughout the whole stay, the only negative (the reason I cannot put 5 star) is that there was not a very big car park therefore we could not park there, however this was resolved as the staff told us to just park in the staff parking. Room was set at a great temperature and the room was very quiet. The location was great meaning we could just walk straight into town from the hotel and there was a metro station right opposite. Nearby are shops and takeaways

I stayed with my 2 daughters and room was spotless the view over the Quay was lovely and we had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable my only issue was pillows were flat and only 2 sets of towels for 3 people. But staff were very friendly as always.

I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights ,. It's certainly not a 4 star hotel as advertised on booking. Com it's barely a 3 star hotel. Although basic and simply run ,good location for the tram and media city . The breakfast were. Bare minimum English breakfast, No restaurant in the evening as advertised on booking.com- just a simple bar menu although there are plenty of places to eat around the hotel. And yes. Parking is easy and getting here straight forward. . My honest review -. -Its Ok- no fab

The staff at the Copthorne were so friendly and helpful during our stay. They were obviously busy as it was the Platinum Jubilee weekend, nevertheless they were all very calm, polite & accommodating. We had several requests as we had booked multiple rooms including an accessibility room for which we required extra equipment. The hotel sent photos of each room and bathroom to ensure our needs were met. The food and service in the restaurant was excellent and I highly recommend dining there. The fans provided in the room were most welcomed. Rooms could do with a refresh but the price reflects that. Great value for money.

This was a great experience. All the staff were so kind and willing to help. Great price for the room and the view was pretty good. The hotel was always clean, and had a fresh scent in the hallway. I'd definitely stay here again.

For a 4 star hotel I was a little disappointed. It was quite run down in places and I noticed quite a few things broken or botch fixed and didn’t match. The decor seemed quite old fashioned Only one very small lift working and some of the staff didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. They were friendly but wasn’t the service you would expect. I’ve stayed in nicer 3 star places. The travel lodge round the corner is nicer. I noticed at least three broken things in my room. My lamp was broken almost hidden behind a chair. My ceiling tile near the door looked like it was ready to fall in on me. And the shower head moved and when having a shower the water would suddenly slow down and become boiling hot for a few seconds then go cold and back to normal temperature which I found strange. And as I was at the front near the service carpark I was woken up at 5.30 am when the laundry van came banging about for half an hour so I wasn’t best pleased. The food was really good and breakfast had a lot of choice. The bar meal I had was a lovely meal and I saw what other people had and was impressed well worth the price. It’s a great location for most things. But there are nicer and closer to media city hotels for same price. As a chain of hotels around the world and you see how nice they are It was disappointing to come to this one.

Average hotel. Check in was chaotic as only one member of staff was on duty. The hotel looks dated, compared to some other hotels I have recently stayed at. Overall the rooms are a good size, and cover all the basics, comfortable bed, clean, and good power to the shower. Lower standard compared to a Premier Inn, that should give you a good indication of the quality. I didn't stay for breakfast, so I can't comment on that. Why only 3 stars? The rooms are poorly sound insulated, I could hear the person in the next room urinating as well general noise from the hotel, doors slamming and people talking. I had an average night sleep due to constantly being woken by the noise, and I'm a relatively heavy sleeper too. Disappointed overall, I would have expected more for the price point of the room.

We stayed here during a family visit to see other relatives in the area. I chose this hotel as I have stayed here many years ago and it was as good as I remembered. One of the many hotels with on site parking which was a bonus though didn’t appreciate the weekday times for breakfast 6:30-9:30 especially as we were on staycation. Among the changes is the notice of room cleaning every 3 days so be sure to alert housekeeping of any needs by noon if you want it done on the same day. Breakfast options were plentiful with a wide choice of hot or cold menu. Friendly staff and enjoyed dinner in the on-site restaurant which was decent as we went for the cost saving bundle options when choosing 2/3 courses.

Very welcoming staff at reception. Very nice view of the Docks from room. Rooms very clean and comfortable bed. Lounge area very cosy. Close to Tram stops and Manchester United ground within 10 min walking distance. Short walk to Media City.

Spacious room with useful furniture. Nice window overlooking quayside (we paid for this upgrade). Tea and coffee facilities useful and basic toiletries supplied. Not keen on shower curtain but apart from that, the bathroom was perfectly adequate. Ideal location for us personally, and being so close to tram stop would make it very handy for most people I think. Car parking included in price - good to know. Friendly and efficient staff.

  • 3/5 Caitlin T. 1 year ago on Google
Very outdated and in need of a lot of love. Sleep was disturbed terribly as the rooms aren't particularly sound proof. Not worth the price at all. It's a shame really as it's in a fantastic location. Staff were all pleasant and the breakfast service was a lot better than some places I've stayed at. Feels like the place needs some reinvestment and is brought into the modern age.

The room is bright and airy, the bed is comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. The breakfast is delicious and there is a wide variety of food. I was also given a voucher for a complimentary drink at the hotel bar.

Great hotel for a short trip. Good transport links. Service from the staff was 5 stars, and they were very helpful. Loved the breakfast, from a full English through to the fruit smoothies and fruit pots !!

Arrived to find a bedroom with just a double bed, yet we had booked for 2adults 1 child. Was rectified after much persuasion. Room very dated No plug sockets by the bed - 2 in the whole room Shower curtain very old

pushing it for 4 stars I think with the room I stayed in. It was okay, comfy bed, good bathroom. Room was poorly lit, adding no ambience just irritating. Few carpet stains, very old looking shower (worked well, but old). Overall a tired looking room but still functional. Could hear a bit of traffic all night but to be expected with it’s location. The gym is very small but works. The car park is decent size and ample room for guests. Breakfast wasn’t bad either, a good selection.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They were very accommodating with any requests made. Would have loved a charging point for my phone. If I'd known there weren't any, I would have brought a plug with one. In the grand scheme of things, this wasn't earth shattering. Really enjoyed the stay.

We came to this hotel for my daughters wedding. I spent 2 nights here. It was fabulous from start to finish. The staff couldn't do enough for you. The wedding ceremony was wonderful and the meal we had was superb. Everyone commented on this. We also had a buffet at night. There was quite a lot of the wedding party that stayed over so all had breakfast together in the morning. There was so much choice everyone was catered for. It was great value for money and would highly recommend it as a venue to stay.

Ok hotel. Great location, close to many local hotspots for shopping, sightseeing and food. We had a family room overlooking the water. Just a few minor points: the fridge did not work (resulting in a lot of leftover food going off including baby food), there wasn't any sockets around the room except for one extension lead in one spot. We did not eat at the hotel nor go to the bar therefore I cannot comment on it.

Great location very close to exchange Quay tram stop. Co-op next door. Our room had no air con, only 3 plug sockets to power tv, kettle and portable fan. Room was very dated. No usb charge points available. Poor water pressure from in shower. Sink I'm bathroom had no plug 😕

Good location and big plus is that it has its own parking and a co op 2 mins walk away. Rooms are ok, bit dated but comfy enough. I was surprised to even get a lovely river view last time I went. Tip- remove the smell of incense at front desk area it's absolutely awful

Not too impressed by the service or the booking. I have booked hotels numerous times, but this seemed the most unclear when booking. I had thought I had requested breakfast only to be told I hadn't, and the lack of flexibility in understanding the confusion, was disappointing, as I was informed I had to book it at almost £3 difference per person! It was also quite disappointing when the cleaners came knocking long before check out time to say they need to clean!!

Nothing different to what I would expect from this hotel. Aaron and his colleague checked us in efficiently. We were given vouchers for complimentary drinks. The bed was really comfortable. The shower was great. Great location for walking to Media City area. Three course evening meal good value.

  • 3/5 Symon L. 8 months ago on Google
The team were great and the food was good also. The location was great, near to Salford docks and walking distance to Old Trafford. The building however was very dated. Rooms lacked climate control and were in desperate need of an update. Hard to get a good sleep as had to leave window open to keep room comfortable, but as near busy road the noise was noticeable.

  • 2/5 Azztron 6. 8 months ago on Google
The TV doesn't work unless the reception authorises it. Blows my mind that in the year 2023 something as simple as a tv is hard work in these hotels. Bathrooms need major update, shower curtains are a thing that shouldn't exist anymore they are disgusting. Bars decent but of course very expensive, these hotel really try to rinse as much money out of the guests as possible.
