Room was clean, neat & tidy, surprisingly spacious. Beds were firm but’s that how I like ‘em. Surprised on other comments left about the noise, we stayed on Coronation weekend & both slept well, didn’t hear any Road noise while we were in a first floor on the front of the building. Bathroom was absolutely spotless, shower was powerful. The staff were very cheerful & helpful, we got an early check in no bother @ all. If you’re the type to complain about narrow/steep staircases, you’ll have some ammunition but it’s not exactly a game breaker is it?? We really couldn’t fault the place & would gladly stay again.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable, clean and warm. Breakfast was adequate. Cooked breakfast was good. Disappointed with lack of cereals, cooked breakfast plate had toast and butter on it. Never experienced this before! More like transport cafe! Would have liked to have it on a separate plate.

The room was pleasant and warm but the TV was not in an easily visible Spot as it was located on a side wall. There was no telephone in the room only one down the corridor. When the fire alarm went off at 11.30 pm we went downstairs to find out it was a false alarm but no one came up to check on the other guests who hadn't gone down. No real apology just a quick 'sorry, you can go back to bed now'.. We ate in the restaurant on the Sunday night and while the food was good there were too few staff to cope with the number of covers . We asked for the bill and waited 15minutes before we gave up and went to find someone. The bill was then wrong by a large amount and the poor girl who was rushing around to take orders, serve and take payment did her best. No sign of management to help her. On the day we checked out no sign of management as I needed a receipt and a member of the kitchen team had to go and find someone as no one was answering the phone to come to reception. Nice place but you need more staff

GOOD: Good location with easy access (car & bus) to Manchester and Stockport. Comfortable room size, with big double bed; tiled bathroom recently refurbished to very high standard. Overall decoration and fittings to good standard. Very convenient steak house restaurant on-site, although we had made arrangements to eat out with family. IMPROVE: Painted doors need replacing as very tired, plus bedroom table and chair looking very dated. Heating was not working when we arrived, but fixed on request.

Service was excellent, especially by the man who I think was the manager(long hair) nothing was too much trouble. Room had a few issues but nothing that spoilt our stay. Sockets by bed didn’t work but plenty others in room. Light on dressing table was broke and the light by the side of the bed didn’t work. Minor things but little inconveniences.

We accept it is room's above a bar/restaurant as the name indicates, innkeepers cottage, and not a Top range Hotel and as such is a reasonable, if towards top of expected range, price. The rooms are very basic but clean as are the general hotel facilities although a very nice bar/restaurant. It's also well situated for road network. In terms of facilities the lack of lift was noticeable and meant as an 87 year old being on top floor wasn't ideal although didn't want hassle of move as only a bed for night and so didn't say anything. Like I say it was a clean basic room, needed windows open for fresh air although this meant were subjected to a constant meat/food aromas as the kitchen vents were directed straight at room 211. It was sort of fresh air and was a relatively warm night so was a toss up between open/shut window. Had dinner in the restaurant with guests, it was nice, if pricey, with nice attentive staff. The staff were very receptive and facilitated early check in, which was a great help as I'd flown trans-atlantic through the night. Overall was happy enough with stay but if was to recommend to others would definitely suggest a first floor room and on opposite side from kitchens was a must do request. Like I said it was all on the higher range of cost and one little gripe, which added to the cost was the price of my nice but expensive port. Was presented with a 25ml measure that barely covered bottom of glass and so asked for a top up. I was always under impression that a port measure is 50 ml, hence large would be 100ml, it's not a spirit. Feel I paid double what I should've.

Friendly welcoming staff. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed and super shower. The location was excellent for our purposes and there were some interesting independent shops and restaurants. Breakfast was great.

The staff were exceptional. In particular, Dawn in the restaurant and the lady who served breakfast both days. But everyone we met, from the bar staff to the housekeeping staff were really wonderful. The staff made our stay brilliant. The room was a great size and the bed was comfy, lots of plugs and overall really nice and perfectly clean. A couple of things to perhaps consider for future... It was very dark in the room despite the lovely big window so brighter lighting would be good. A mirror by the dressing table would be great for doing hair makeup! (Which would mean moving the telly to the other side of the room I guess). When you get in/out of the shower, it's easy to catch yourself on the radiator which was very hot! We wrapped a towel round it so it soon didn't burn himself, but it's a bit if a hazard.

It was wonderful!! The food was delicious, the staff were great and the room was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. Our server for both evening meal and breakfast was Denise. She was fabulous, so friendly, chatty and made time for us even though she had other tables to serve. Nothing was to much trouble for her

Old but comfortable and clean. Great location. A few pubs also in the area. I slept well.

The room had everything we needed for 1 night, but for a longer stay more hanging space would be needed. The duvet was too warm for Summer - a common fault in hotels - and there were no alternatives. Otherwise the room was great - opening window, very clean and a big shower. The hospitality tray was well filled and when we asked for more milk it was provided happily. We loved being able to just walk downstairs to an excellent restaurant - lovely dinner and a great breakfast menu.

Not too bad. Rooms nice, clean, but beds hard and small. Expensive food with small portions. Staff nice. Lots of stairs so bear in mind if you have mobility problems like me!

We always enjoy a meal at Miller & Carter. Food is tasty, hot, and served aesthetically pleasing. We always seem to have a change of shift with our server so we rarely have the same server throughout our meal. It always starts off well, but service is then let down by what I feel are younger/trainees who are not as attentive. Otherwise, enjoyable.

A good size carpark which is also used by restaurant goers. Unfortunately it took awhile to check in due to the computer network going down must have been over 15 minutes easily they kept apologising a free drink offer wouldn't have gone a miss ,eventually given up just had to write my details down and showed my email confirmation Shown where rooms where ,some info given My room was on the 2nd floor the stairs to the 2nd are rather steep and narrow! The room itself was an okay size for a single bed as was the shower room Bed was very comfortable had a good night sleep Shower was hot and powerful. WiFi was excellent. Evening meal was OK, quick service, its a Miller and Carter so its expensive but its worth it i guess. Breakfast not included Lots of walk and running spots close by. Would I stay and recommend YES 👍

It was great that it’s close by the airport and the venue I had to go. The restaurant is excellent. People are very supportive and friendly. The rooms toward the Main Street are a little bit noisy and the windows not easily to be opened. Overall it was great.

The staff was very nice and made us feel welcome. The room was quite spacious which we really liked and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom's toilet flush was quite noisy though and needed to be pulled several times. We had breakfast one morning and it was delicious. All in all a good experience

Not much to say, I did not have great expectations because it was so cheap for a nights stay. However, when I arrived the staff were lovely in greeting me in the Steakhouse and they got Neville to take care of me. What a lovely chap Neville is. He booked me in and took me to the door accessing the stairs. Explained about the key fob, how to get in and out of the side door etc. The room was very clean, the shower is terrific and the bed very comfortable. I had a very good sleep. I have never been to Stockport before, I was attending an old friends funeral, and unlikely to go there again but if I need a room elsewhere I shall be looking for an Innkeeper.

Sadly, not my first rodeo. Having stayed now a number of times feedback/comments have changed nothing. Small rooms. Overpriced and far from "budget" as advertised. 80+ with no breakfast is awful for the area. Noisy road all night. You can hear your neighbours talk, go to the toilet (yes, every noise), the tvs, the corridor and alarm clocks left, right and centre. Uneven sloping floors. Very steep staircases to rooms. Stayed on 1st and 2nd floor. Both are a challenge, so be warned. As a 40yr old, fairly fit, person, it was a pump with a bag! Beds are very hard. A positive for me but not ideal for most. The taps trapped my fingers turning them on. The towel radiator becomes overly hot and the shower entrance is very narrow, resulting in burnt ribs and back. No extractor fan. Very, very disappointed and strike three means I'm out now and won't be visiting again. The restaurant food on the evening was excellent but worth noting, again that it is massively overpriced, particularly deserts.

All staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was fine, the en-suite was small overall, had to be careful not to touch the hot towel rail. Breakfast as excellent, freshly cooked. Happy to return

Hotel was easy to find with good parking. Check in staff were friendly. The room was a good size for four of us and spotlessly clean. Being in an old building, the floors were uneven and the stairs steep - it added to the charm for us but wouldn't be suitable for anyone with access requirements. Only two towels were provided and there was no obvious way to communicate with staff other than returning down the stairs. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others needing a hotel in the area.

Staff were lovely and very attentive. Room was spotlessly clean. Food was fantastic and we enjoyed every aspect about our stay. Look forward to our next visit.

We stayed here on the 30th April and didn’t have the best experience. Me and partner got given a the disabled room on the ground floor next to the carpark and the restaurant, up until 11:30 I could hear the staff/guests coming through the door and slamming it. Previous to all this I had asked to move rooms upstairs and the manager proceeded to do this for us, we got upstairs and the manager had allocated us to a room with one single bed for both me and my partner so then had to go all the way back downstairs to room 1. The room was also very very cold, had no plug sockets next to the bed and only 1 socket in the room. My partner and I have been to miller and carters many a times in London and the food is always excellent however the breakfast I had was not okay, I had avocado on sourdough (minus the salmon) and the portion size for £9 was not acceptable, I had the tiniest piece of sourdough and a very small amount of avocado. (Can’t attach pictures) All our poached eggs were hard and not runny which was also a downer. We also wasn’t asked how our stay was when we handed in the keys. The other cooked breakfasts were lovely but probably wouldn’t stay again unfortunately.

I was very pleasantly surprised with this accommodation. Room was a little dated but not so much as to diminish how clean and comfortable it was, great shower too! The stairs to the top floor could were narrow and steep so if you have any mobility problems let them know when making your booking and the staff know upon arrival. They are very willing to help with bags etc. The breakfast was brilliant and I enjoyed it very much - especially being served by Linda who made everybody's start to the day that bit more pleasant. What a very nice and sef effacing lady she is. The accommodation was situated on the main A6 just North of Stockport which made it very handy for both central Manchester and for accessing the Cheshire and Derbyshire countryside to the South. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for good accommodation, great food, nice staff and a reasonable price. I will be staying with them again!

The room has not a great view out through the window, I think in the corner next to the bed there should be an armchair, the fan was a great addition as the room was very warm, also the bed would benefit having a top sheet, even though we had the fan on the duvet was still to warm. The room was very clean and the breakfast was excellent and the staff were really good, we had an evening meal and Jamie was our waiter and he was very friendly

The room and lodging experience was great. But what we loved most is that the staff are very receptive and they also went out of their way to help us to store our load for some hours after we checked out. I'll definitely stay here next time I need a lodge.

I only had a single room and decor was tired. Having said that the bed and bedding was very comfortable and the room had a good sized TV, tea and coffee, hair dryer and portable fan. The shower room was very good and clean. Room 3*** because of decor. Still recommend.

Room great size and spotlessly clean. Meal very good in the evening Breakfast let it down. All options would have been cheaper on the morning rather that what we prepaid upon booking and the quality was very poor. If we stayed again, we would get breakfast elsewhere.

Budget hotel and the lack of investment shows. The first room I was given the keys to had not been cleaned after the previous guest. The reception sorted out a new room efficiently. The new room had damaged locks and handle. Clearly the door had been forced at some point and I tightened some of the screws. The paintwork needs refreshing. Room was clean and comfortable.
