We both had the carvery, and both thoroughly enjoyed it. I had ice cream to follow but my wife was too full to enjoy a sweet. Service was excellent for the drinks and the dessert. Just one minor point my wife reported there wasn't any soap in the dispenser in the ladies toilet, she also mentioned two of the taps weren't working either. Nothing to spoil the meal as she always carries he own hand cleanser. Other ladies might not have been in the same position. Nothing to prevent us from returning in the future.

We popped into the Toby on a cold night in December and we were starving. We'd been hankering over a tasty carvery for some time. And like an oasis in a drought of bland food being offered by Justeat, macky D's and all the rest. The Toby did not disappoint. There was succulent lamb, hock, gammon, beef Turkey and Chicken all cooked to perfection, sliced and served by a young chef with huge Yorkshire puddings the size of saucers and gravy, lashings of gravy, cranberry, mint and all other condiments. But let's not forget the vegetables; Roasted parsnips, carrots, Brussels, roast potatoes and more I simply can't remember. And yes we filled our plates way too high and it was worth it. I haven't been to a Carvery in a long while as I've struggled to find any but the food offering was mega. I didn't know that places like Toby Carvery existed anymore. And thank goodness they do. We were served by a young lady with glasses who couldn't do enough for us. She gave us the special treatment. Not bad considering we just polled up off the street with no previous booking. The atmosphere was relaxed and chilled the alcoholic beverages were good. I'd highly recommend this Toby carvery. They deserve a 10/10

We were a party of 9 (6 adults, 2 kids and a baby). Turned up at a busy time with no reservation but the host sorted a table for us within 5 minutes. Excellent food and service. Would recommend if you fancy a good carvery.

Service excellent. Food excellent. Staff excellent. You get the idea. I loved everything. My wife has health problems and they did everything to help make our visit easier. Did I mention I loved the food? Definitely will go again next time we're in the area.

The home of the roast describes this place perfectly. We were seated quickly, our server (Mark) was great and chatted to the hole table kids included he was friendly and polite and took all our orders quickly. As for the food the carvery was spot on it was all hot juciey and full of flavour. We had to wait a short while for the kids food to arrive but when it came it was well appreciated and scoffed down quickly. Even the dodgy vegan we had with us found something they liked and had a plate full. The only down side from our visit was that we had to what what seemed like an age for our table to be cleared and to order the kids desert's. Speed that up and it's 5 stars all the way.

4 of us visited for the carver. Even though we hadn't booked and the place was quite busy, we were still able to dine. The food is great value for money and the staff are all helpful and friendly. The only criticism is the food wasn't quite warm enough. I'm aware that serving piping hot food could be dangerous and result in endless court cases for scalds and burns so I'm guessing it's very difficult to get that exact temperature....other than that, I'd happily recommend a visit.

Tried to get a table and no joy. We were told very abruptly that they had already gone through 5 joints and they won't be replenished. To be quite honest I will never go there again! And this was at 5pm on a Tuesday. Very poor customer service. Stay well clear and avoid disappointment!!! Would have been given 0 stars if possible

We had not booked and we arrived around 1.30p.m. so expected to have a wait. NO! a table had just been reset so we were very lucky as the place was very busy. We had to fight through a pile of debris and rubbish on the floor caused by 2 kiddies, whose mother's did not bother to do anything about it, and staff were already run off their feet. We were quickly attended to by a young lady and directed to the carvery. There was a small piece of beef left, just how I like it, fabulous slice of turkey and a small slice of the most delicious gammon I have ever had in a restaurant. The veg was beautifully cooked and included red onions and cauli, this too was gorgeous. When I was ready to return to our table, a lovely young lady, Hollie I think, came immediately to help me, as I am unable to carry anything as I have to walk with a frame and nowhere to place my dinner. Hubby had beef from the new joint. He was a little disappointed but only because he would have loved the little crispy, crumbly pieces that I had, the last of the previous joint. There was an incredible choice of great desserts, but we were nice and full, so will try them next time. Also nice and clean ♿ toilet.Thank you everyone lovely welcome, lovely staff and a superb 5star meal at a very, very good price including drinks. THANK YOU TO YOU ALL.

I asked if possible if the gentleman could sit us close to the carvery, because my husband cannot walk far. He was really polite and helpful. We decided to have the carvery the food was delicious and plenty of choice. And the biggest Yorkshire puddings. Would definitely recommend.

Me and the boyfriend came for Sunday lunch and had the carvery everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing as always. The waiter was lovely checked up on us regularly asking if everything was ok for us and was very polite.

Lovely carvery. We go quite often, as it is fairly local. The food is always good, prices are sensible and the staff are very nice. Our server today was Julie - she was excellent.

generally food was great. The pork was very succulent and juicy which was a nice surprise and the gammon was perfect. the only thing I could say to improve on is your sausages. my son had a child's carvery and wanted the sausages. they were very over cooked and the skin very tough to get through. Otherwise

  • 3/5 Daniel M. 7 months ago on Google
Veg was quite dry and looked like it had been either over cooked or had been out for ages. and Yorkshire puddings were flat, the meat was good though and had more choice than other carverys, service was very good. We went on the Sunday, so I think of you go in the week when it's less manic the food would be better

Went for food with my family as a little treat, worth every penny! Mainly due to the amazing and attentive service from Chloe L (I forgot the rest of her name…) she sorted out the few issues we had in good time and in a friendly manner, she even went to the point to have a chat with our little boy and help him concentrate on eating his food! Needless to say we’ll be coming back when we have the reason to and using you again thanks to the friendly waitress!

Wonderful meal with the wife. Our server Julie was so kind ,a and fast even when the floor was absolutely busy. She's a Asset to your business. The Carver, Tyler greeted us with a smile and was very professional and efficient Would definitely come again

I’m disabled, it was difficult and a little stressful to manoeuvre around as the pub was very busy, but the staff were helpful and the food was lovely. A staff member carried my plate to my table and another offered to move a chair. I wouldn’t go again on a busy Sunday because I’m disabled and it was overwhelming, but I’d recommend it any other day. It’s sad that a family with no blue badge abused the disabled bays preventing other disabled people from visiting.

Booked for 6.30....sat down by 6.40....wasn't sure how to pay....before or after. Waitress said "just go up" I am disabled and there was a group of men up there.....wanted to wait until queue gone down but then more joined .....so had to stand in queue......so painful. Meat was excellent....veg was good. ...roast potatoes were hard and stuffing not the best. Gravy was lovely. Next time I would go later when not so busy. BUT disabled parking near a door but not the door you are allowed to use....had to walk all way around the building....struggled with this. Summary: food was fairly priced and overall enjoyable. Not pro disabled....this would be the one thing I would have at the front of my mind when thinking of booking again. Long walk to door and if I could manage standing in the queue.

I don't normally write reviews and do like a Toby carvery. I went a couple of weeks ago on a Wednesday and it was nice and quite when entering. My son and I decided to go yesterday 11th October for my birthday on the spur of the moment . We got there and it was absolutely full to the brim and apparently there is an offer on this week which is the reason for being busy (which we didn't know until we got there, we paid full price for our meal). We managed to get a table in the bar side but I have to say on this occasion I did not enjoy the meal. The gravy was really thin (has it been watered down to make it go further because of how busy it is going to be this week)? I think the main thing is that we both noticed in the stuffing were pieces of grey and the only and best way I can describe it was it looked like fish scales. We picked out what we could but not sure what it was but due to both the gravy and stuffing I did not enjoy my meal on this occasion.

Went there this morning party of 6. Ayce breakfast. Wow. Absolutely rancid. Eggs were snotty, bacon was overcooked. Hash browns undercooked. Black pudding unevenly cooked. Sausages were wrinkly and rubbery. I honestly can't think of one good thing on my plate apart from the tomato sauce and beans were good. I honestly wish I would have gone without. No wonder it's all you can eat. I'd be trying to get rid of it as well.

The food was excellent and the carvery plate was a big size which could hold much more food than i needed. My mum needed a gluten free meal and Nicolle was super kind, patient and helpful making us feel like valued customers and not as being a nuisance at all. Nicolle is a real credit to Toby Carveries. However not so good was the parking. Just 4 disabled spaces is way too few for a place that size and the entrance seemed a very long walk from the car park.

The lemon sponge cake. Unless you have lemon cake often I don’t think you would understand how it would taste. The sponge itself was lovely, the custard as well, however the lemon didn’t taste like lemon and it was very overwhelming. The service was brilliant though and timing was good. Never complain about the food I have.

Pub is fresh and looking beautiful after the amazing remodel! Such lovely and welcoming staff, very attentive, we certainly had to stay for pudding. Chefs clearly take pride in there cooking as the food looked and taste beautiful. Would 100% go back.

Ellie S was our server and was really lovely. Very attentive and quick service. Nice friendly face to see. Chris our carver, selected us some really nice cuts of meat and was also a friendly face. Would recommend and come back :)

Oh my, I am so stuffed! We were here on a cold December lunch. It was so warm and inviting inside and the food was outstanding! There's some lovely places too take a stroll nearby after your lunch.

Carvery was poor. Tiny Amount of meat and it was full of fat. Couldn’t really eat it. The veg was really good and tasty. There was a huge queue which means you can’t get up for extra veg. Yorkshire pudding was cold. It wasn’t worth £13.99. My local carvery is less than £10 and twice as much meat which is much better quality.

  • 3/5 Delany B. 5 months ago on Google
The food on display looked messy. The macaroni cheese was very dry. The Yorkshire pudding had no taste. The portion of meat was so small, I was shocked. I said something so got a proper amount.

Went there recently, food was nice and fresh. Nice choice of sides and the bar staff were friendly enough. Didn't even book and still offered a table. One thing however to note and might be minute was not greeted or wished goodbye by host, whilst other customers were. I know this was probably an honest mistake but made me and my party feel if we annoyed the staff even though we didn't do anything. But still v enjoyable experience.

Went today. Seated quickly, we had booked a table. Very quickly asked about drinks and if we were having the carvery. When confirmed we were told 2 go up when we were ready. 5 roasts 2 choose from and plenty of vegetables. All food hot and replaced as required. Server checked 2 make sure everything was OK. It was. A very good meal, pleasant service. We will go again

I had the roast mushroom and ale pie and it was really delicious, and there was a great choice of vegetables to accompany it. There were a few other vegan and vegetarian options which sounded nice as well. The staff did a great job too 😊

Spur of the moment decision to visit as we were very hungry after a shopping trip! Greeted by a very nice bloke who explained that there would be a 30 - 45 minute wait for a table due to staff shortages as a result of COVID. So, we sat down in the bar area with a coffee & after 40 minutes we were guided to a table. The carvery was of a reasonable standard, although personally I thought it wasn't quite as good as when I had previously visited a couple of years ago. That said, it is still better value for money than fast food restaurant fayre! The staff were all lovely, despite being very busy due to shortages (we visited at 3pm on a weekday). Upon reflection we should have booked ahead.

I agree that the food is well cooked and tasty but, be careful ordering for delivery. When my order arrived it was missing the meat, for me the most important part. I just had vegetables. I couldn’t get through on the phone to complain. When I finally contacted them it was dismissed with sorry ! I guess I should be grateful for they but I paid for meat and never received any

Probably the best Toby I have been to. Food was a little dry at the servery but still tasty. Service was quick and professional, drinks served without delay, far better than our local Toby in Telford. 4* is the highest rating I can give to a diner pub, they can't get higher in my eyes due to the low cost "fast food" & "turn them round quick" nature of the business. Well done.

  • 2/5 Ellie-brooke W. 2 years ago on Google
Very disappointed today with the service we asked for salt when we ordered our food at 10 past 8 and by the time we left at 20 past 9 it still hadn’t been brought to us, the Yorkshire puddings were not how they used to be they were just crispy with no flavour. During the time that we were there there were at least 3 people who complained about food not being made or being late and the staff would rather say “turn just eat off I don’t care” than worry about the business and getting the orders done to make the customers happy! won’t be returning after today unless things change. We waited 10 minutes for our glasses to be brought for the refillable drinks overall the service was very slow, not how it usually is. We asked for the bill and the man behind the bar said someone would be over shortly to bring it however no one ever came and we had to return to the bar 20 minutes later to yet again ask for our bill. The deserts were amazing just a shame really. None of the staff seemed remotely bothered other than the man serving the carvery and the waitress when she took our order

Absolutely best carvery I've ever had for many years. Best beef I've ever had for about 20 years. The beef is so soft and tender. Definitely worth it.

There seems to be a shift in staff when we visited yesterday. Lots of faces we haven't seen before, but it was honestly for the better. Our server (who is apparently normally on the bar) was amazing. She dealt with all customers with the same smile and professional service and made sure everyone had everything they needed and had a little chat to those that wanted. It was definitely a great atmosphere. The food was good too!

I had a mixture of slow roast pork and roast beef. The pork was delicious, the beef over cooked making it tough. Veg, roast potatoes, meshed potatoes, gratin potatoes, cauliflower cheese, and peas. Although very tasty, all veg was virtually same colour. Gravy excellent, Yorkshire puds, I felt were too big, but my wife and I shared one. Reception was welcoming and we were seated within a couple of minutes. There was a queue for the carvery but we were served in a minute or two. All in all an enjoyable meal

  • 2/5 David G. 1 year ago on Google
Absolute chaos. Booked a table for 2 for Sunday lunch a couple of days earlier. Arrived 5 minutes early. Queues everywhere. After checking in, we, as with many others were asked to buy a drink and wait to be seated. Too many people in a small area waiting and obviously in the way of services. After waiting 20 minutes and a couple of reminders, we were seated and a waitress asked for drinks orders. We joined the large queue for carvery. Got our meal and were seated, only to realise what a pathetic set up the reception area was. We were seated opposite the entrance whose doors were constantly opened, closed, kept open for the numerous people trying to get in and kids just in and out for the fun of it. We obviously complained and asked people to close the doors which made our dining experience a trip to unbelievable discomfort. The staff gave us 25% off the bill but for pity’s sake, sack the designer because that’s the last time we’ll go back.

  • 3/5 Christine S. 11 months ago on Google
The service was brilliant, I cannot fault Julie at all for the service today. However, there was a full uncooked potato in my carvery mash, the vegetable choice had changed which meant I was now limited to only 2 of the vegetables. I appreciate that changes occur, and that everyone's taste is different, but when there's 3 weeks of seeing some sort of spinach slop, only to be replaced by what looked like a million whole onions had been chucked in gravy (that no-one seemed to be interested in), it begs the question where are the more traditional vegs such as broccoli or green beans or cabbage even. For the first time I was quite disappointed in my meal today. All staff except for Julie didn't seem as friendly and welcoming as usual, like the whole place was stressed.

Called in last night for tea with my friend, we was served by Chloe S she was an absolute delight, the service given by Chloe was more than just a friendly smile, she interacted with us and made us feel welcome. nothing was too much trouble she even talked us in to having puddings which we hadn't planned on doing 😊 I really hope Toby carvery know she's a real diamond! and very lucky to have such a people caring person as part of your team. It's hard to find people who like their work but we could tell Chloe Is happy to be there 😊 once again great food too. Thank you and we'll be back soon x

We visited for breakfast and there are lots of food options but not a massive amount for veggies. They do cook you two veggie sausages on request which is good. There doesn't appear to be enough staff to keep the tables clean, but that is not the staff's fault. We will visit again as the prices are quite good especially at a time where everyone are trying to be careful.

Staff was very helpful and pleasant. I was with my 88yr old disabled father. He told me straight away that the meal was only just warm. When asked if meals where OK, I said not really, so she said she would ask the chef to do a temperature check. He said it was fine! I was asked if they could microwave them a little. With it being pretty quiet, the uncovered dishes at the front of the servery didn't have the front heater lamps on. They did bring some fresh dishes to the front. I would guess that the food temperature was no more than 60°c.

Easy to find. Good parking, the inside is nicely decorated. Plenty of space between the tables. Good atmosphere, good selection of drinks and food. The waitress were really nice and pleasant. We did have to ask the waitress to take our order and again to order drinks. We were kind of forgotten about ie she didn't come back to check on us although it was a little busy and they only had limited staff on.

Poor Christmas lunch experience. On arrival asked for menu choices, had given these twice before over the phone. Starter was cold as in fridge cold, cheese sauce. Must have been meant to be warm, assume forgotten to microwave it. Hoped that would be it, main carvery was std quality, good. Dessert was ages to wait and only lukewarm. Christmas pudding was tough and tasted only of cinnamon. 3rd time we have had Christmas there. All other years it's been lovely. Such a shame but looking on the brightside I saved a few calories.

It's been for ages after moving to Norfolk. Came back to have some lunch with family for my daughter's birthday. Had a great time, food was great. The exterior could do with some minor improvements. But nothing to complain about here.

  • 3/5 Veronica C. 11 months ago on Google
Ordered 2 salads. One with no onion and one with prawns in Marie rose sauce. Both, according to the menu, would have salad dressing. Sent mine back as it was covered in onion. Prawns had no sauce at all and there was no dressing on either salad. However, we had enough lettuce to feed at least 4 rabbits for a week. I understand it is a carvery and it was lunchtime but we both wanted a salad!

  • 5/5 Vera S. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely carvery. I had turkey, it never looks much when they put it on but when you start to eat it there seems loads. Plenty of veg choices and the roasts and stuffing were lovely. Only negative for me personally is they have stopped doing garlic mash but the mash they had was still nice. I couldn't have the dessert I wanted cos the ice cream machine was being cleaned unfortunately so had Profiteroles. Very nice, just upset I couldn't have a Sundae cos their ice cream is second to none.

We have been a couple of times for breakfast recently, the staff have been really pleasant, polite and helpful. It's clean and spacious inside. The breakfast deal is very reasonable. One issue for me is the coffee - I'd prefer really hot, really strong coffee rather than out of the vending style machine or insipid filter coffee. But other than that it's a good place to meet up and great that the kids can play outside in the play area.
