Great climbing walls with pleasant staff in the historic setting of the old mill engine hall. I booked my daughter in for a taster and she's been a few times since - she loves it. The staff are encouraging and friendly- Hannah was very good on our last visit. It's a big, well set-up centre, the variety of walls is good, from bouldering to a massive high wall at the end - something for all abilities. There are a couple of auto-belay walls but most require someone to belay for you. They supply shoes and harnesses. There's free parking outside and there is a small cafe for coffees and snacks (dairy and plant milks available). If you venture next door into the vintage emporium in the main mill building, there's a cafe with a great cake selection!

Never climbed before so me and my daughter booked a taster/induction. From the start the staff were very welcoming and helpful. We got some climbing shoes and waited for our instructor. When Steven arrived he again was very friendly and made us both feel comfortable. It turns out I'm not too bad at climbing and have returned today and purchased the monthly membership. I couldn't recommend this place enough. I'm looking forward to starting my climbing journey! :)

Took my two boys for a taster session. Beth was brilliant and very patient with my youngest until he got the hang of it. She was very encouraging and they both loved it. Will definitely go again. Thanks Beth, you were superb.

Great centre, with all very nice staff, who go out of their way to help. Challenging climbs for all abilities.

Me and my son were with Cali who was an amazing instructor. She really helped and gave great encouragement to us both. This being my 1st experience climbing, it was important to be with someone who made me feel at ease. We had the taster session and climbed a good few walls within the hour. The location is great and has free parking, so thats a bonus (especially with kids).

What an absolutely fantastic experience..!! We booked for our climbing taster session over the phone. Spoke to a very friendly and informative girl called Karolina. She took time to go through everything we could expect on the day. On the day of the taster session we were greeted by friendly staff who issued us with everything we needed for the session. We were soon climbing up to dizzying heights that we thought were impossible for us. However with plenty of wonderful encouragement from our instructor we enjoyed every moment. We are now both eager to carry on with this new found activity and will be back to the centre very soon. Thank you to all the staff at the centre for making it an extremely enjoyable experience.

Myself and my 11 year old son (I'm 49!) had a full centre induction yesterday with Andy. The 90mins passed by in a flash! Andy was an excellent instructor who made it fun and really enjoyable. He explained all the technical and safety aspects unbelievably well to us both. The other climbers in the centre were friendly and encouraging, as were the staff. We both left smiling but tired and my son has already lined up a couple of sessions climbing next week! Highly recommended!

Took my 8 year old couple of times and arranged her birthday party there. She loves it there and the kids had a great time in the party. Instructors were really good, caring and quite safe for the kids with various walls to challenge them.

Great family fun. 10 and 13y old girls loved it thanks to Cally who is a wonderful instructor. Definitely a new hobby in the making!

We had our son’s tenth birthday party here and would highly recommend. He brought four friends with him and they all had a great time. The instructor, Rob, was great with the kids and encouraged the ones who were a bit nervous to have a go and got them all climbing in no time. Some of the walls are very high but the kids didn’t seem to bother too much and they all had a good go at even the highest walls. We went for the 1.5 hour party and would recommend this if you’re bringing five kids so they get maximum climbing time, I think the shorter party would probably have been too short

I've been coming here as a regular for years, fantastic staff and great routes. The setting has been fantastic recently, really good bouldering and routes. Great for groups and beginners too. Highly recommmend!

Took our Guide unit for the end of term. The instructors were excellent. Lots of different walls to try and a bouldering room. The girls all loved it and we enjoyed a cup of tea with an amazing view of the climbing walls.

Excellent venue. Plenty of slabs to warm up on. Lots of long routes of all grades to develop stamina. The routes are regularly changed so there are always projects of interest. Karolina and Matt do a great job and make it a pleasure to be there.

Fantastic place! The instructors and staff are very helpful, friendly and supportive. There are some lovely incentives like free brews at certain times. A great area to watch climbing if your an observer. Fantastic range of top rope, lead, belay and bouldering climbs.

I took myself my son to awesome Walls to learn how to climb. What a great experience the staff are so helpful. My son love the experience and we will definitely be back.

Booked a birthday party for my 8 year old daughter and her friends and it was genuinely the best party we've ever had! The team were amazing, friendly and so patient with all the kids. The price for 10 kids was extremely reasonable and they got almost 1.5hours on the climbing wall which was more than enough. I wish we had discovered awesome walls sooner! Thanks to all the team!

We attended the kids club which we booked online. Archie who is six had an instructor who was fantastic, she did bouldering and climbing with him, he got to try all the walls in the centre and it really helped his confidence. We will be going back again.

We had a 1hr taster session for two. I was amazing, the instructor was really good, knowledgeable and friendly. We tried several walls of varying difficultly and overhangs. Awesome walls in Stockport apparently has the highest climbing wall in the UK, looking at it first hand it's terrifying but I think I'm gonna work up to it now.

I booked a taster session for my whole family as my eldest son has been developing a fear of heights and I wanted to help him try to overcome it. We had a 1 hour session with an instructor, I think she was called Beth (sorry if I am wrong!) and it was fantastic. My son had a bit of a wobble at first but Beth was really reassuring and let him take things at his own pace. We all had a really good time and the hour flew by. By the end, my son was really happy with his achievement and was even talking about having his birthday party there. We will definitely be back to try and get even higher next time!

Awesome walls Stockport is and has been a mainstay for years in the climbing area of Manchester. I've climbed for 16 years (10 active and 6 non) and this place has always been a solid bet for climbing. It's changed since those days it's got a huge bouldering wall now and a gym area but the rope walls are all the same and still excellent training. Staff are friendly and always good fun to go in since there is a lot to go at. I would say its 75% roped climbing and 25% bouldering in terms of size and amount to go at.

Kids (8 & 10) had a taster session with Danny. Patient and encouraging Instructor and lots of great advice. Super relaxed environment and safety is as expected.

They don’t call it awesome walls for nothing!! Whether you’re a beginner, an expert or somewhere in between - you should go, you won’t regret it. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Absolutely loads of options - top rope, lead or bouldering (we just did top rope). Equipment available for rent. Nice and quiet when we went on a Monday morning too :)

We came here for an induction as it was our first time at Awesome Walls. Had an absolute great time. Our instructor was Cally and would highly recommend requesting her if it's your first time. Took us through everything, went at our own pace, felt very safe. Really personable and fun. We got our membership and already booked in for 5 more sessions. Can't recommend Cally and the center enough!

Taster session for me and my 6yr old son with instructor Gavin. Really impressed with sheer size and scale of the place but Gavin was brilliant with both of us, particularly my son. As a consequence he's now hooked and wants to do more.

Excellent climbing gym! My personal favourite in the North West. Plentiful roped climbing with 5 auto belays, newly refurbished boulder area and mini gym.

Granddaughters age 7 and 10 so no pics. They have been twice over the school hols and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great instructor lovely staff, good looks easy parking. In all a pleasant experience.

Great as normal, a good way to spend three hours staying fit with a old friend. Coffee is good as well. Staff very helpful and the facilities clean and tidy.

I haven't attempted climbing since I was a child and it wasn't a good experience. Needless to say I was a bit nervous visiting Awesome Walls. However, the staff were all friendly and warm and reassuring. Expert advice and guidance is available if needed. Started off with some bouldering which was very enjoyable and then used the auto belay routes in the main climbing hall. Great informal place to visit. Would recommend and plan to return.
