A moving memorial to the Merchant seaman who gave their lives for us. RIP.

Created in 1994 by Brian Fell for the Cardiff County Council, Cardiff Bay Development Corporation, Cardiff Bay Arts Trust and the Merchant Navy Memorial Committee, the structure has the form of a face integrated to a ship's hull. Impressive and worth visiting.

The rain made the slate and statue shine, or, maybe tears forming and falling on the ground. Very artistic sculpture based on the head of the statue of liberty 🗽.

Very good memorial about ships and fishermen

A memorial sculpture dedicated to the Merchant Seamen of Cardiff Bay combines a beached Hull of a ship and a timeless face. The surrounding mosaic carries inscriptions and portraits of local wartime seafarers.

It is so nice I highly recommend everyone one to see Merchant Seaman’s memorial .

Lovely sculpture just by Cardiff Bay. In the style of a ships hull, very well done.

Seems to be a considerable amount of maintenance work being carried out. Visited mid March, when hardly anything was open. Such a shame, as we had all day, with nothing else to do. Only place for coffee was inside theatre and they only dealt with card payments not cash. Enjoyed the ferry trip back to Cardiff.

Work down the bay seems to be going on forever. The decking has been up for months and the work they have done so far is pretty poor.
