My first visit to a hospital in Jamaica and I was in disbelief to see the deplorable conditions. The hospital is in need of painting and some serious cleaning. I went to the surgical ward , I first noticed that except for the nurses you cannot differentiate the other staff. You cannot tell who is the resident or Attending (physician). Everyone one at the desk is in there regular work clothes.I also noticed that the is no privacy for the patients. I observed the physician or resident ( not sure of the title) just withdraw a patient blood right in the waiting area in front of the nurse/ physician station. Medication is being prepared at the a cabinet at the left of the nurses station. Cotton jar in the nurses are are left in an open bottle and I observed physician touching patient and going to the Jar with the same gloves on.This hospital will give the patient hospital acquired infection, because there is no infection control taking place here. Someone need to really access there process and try to make changes because what I am observing requires serious improvement. Not because the community they served has financial difficulties this does not mean they should be treated like this The government should make it easier for citizens like myself to donate medical supplies. Concerned citizen.

Majority of the workers here at Mandeville Regional will be there to greet you at the gates of hell. Staff has an attitude, the nurses and the doctors alike speak to you as if answering questions and providing information isn't their job, coupled with the fact that many of these workers are so inconsiderate and have no compassion for patients. During visitation hours, you can hear patients pleading for assistance, only for the nurses to dismiss their plea for help, putting out no effort whatsover. We all get that wages aren't great for government workers, but you can't put a price on decency and manners- something which these workers surely DO NOT have. Would give zero stars if possible.

I was taken to Mandeville hospital a few yrs back and had to spend an entire night sleeping on a bench with a drip on my hand. I had wake up and walk my weak self to the nurse's station to let her now my drip had finished. She would please herself before she gave me a new one...one of the worst night of my life. I tell every if am dying don't take me to Mandeville Regional Hospital!!! They are the worstπŸ˜’

I have never been there but based on other people's experience losing their child while being told to wait for a nurse's shift too be over to die. I would never goo here. Have mg child there or tell anyone to go there. Nurse mullings you should not be a nurse if you plan to treat people like that. Even if baby toby died not any fault of yours you should cared about your patient and not treat her as a piece of garbage. I hope you lose your job. You do not deserve to be responsible for anyone's life.

I sent this letter requesting call to address this situation. I'm writing to express my extreme disappointment and dissatisfaction of the treatment received by my family members by the hospital staff. The aforementioned relative is gravely ill with stage IV cancer and was scheduled to have a procedure performed today. Unfortunately, that surgery was postponed due to conflicting and erroneous information regarding a COVID test. A student doctor who refused to be helpful gave counterproductive and outright false information and at ever turn seemed to be hell bent on being a hindrance rather than provide helpful support. As a result of false reporting to move a family member out of the way and the only relative who was able to physically support our family member in the hospital; he is now in quarantine. Trying to speak with someone, I am told that one has to be physically present but that is also the family member that has been remanded to quarantine due to a false positive report. I called multiple times trying to speak with someone. No worker wants to give their name, transfer with informing me to various department and also left on hold with no one ever coming back to the phone. This is again is despicable treatment and as I write this I am livid that this is treatment that anyone would be received from a hospital. I'm asking for urgent and emergent assistance for my family member who is under your care. I am asking for a call regarding the egregious treatment my family member and I have received to course correct. I truly would like a humane response that is customer service oriented because the compassion, accountability, respect and efficiency that is your mantra is a false hood that requires immediate remedy. People should be aware of the sore treatment that can be received from Mandeville Hospital and despite efforts to address there is no interest to course correct.

The worst hospital in Jamaica , dont even deserve a one star, experience there with my daughter was horrible, all the nurses do is chat at the desk. She did a c- section there and baby was given to her 3 hours after to feed, change diaper etc. Very poor customer service. Cant hold a conversation with any of the nurses they ignore you. Not reccomended by me for anyone.

In modern day time, this hospital allows patients that cant breathes to wait 24 hours to receive a bed and no treatment/medication administer. This place is not 4 star, it deserves a zero. Jamaica needs to do better with their hospital system. Shame on you. I did not know the system was so disgusting.

For to be mom's so you don't miss anything. You only need to listen and be patient. Had my 2nd child here and the team were very respectful, hard working and informative. I just wish I was given a heads up to bring your own sheet and pillow to the maternity ward. πŸ˜ͺ

Worse place ever it’s better the patients stay home and deal with themselves tbh because these people don’t care ,all them do a deh pan phone chat and gawn like ano work dem com .majority of these mf talk to people like a dog dem a talk to .you could be here for hours and dem nah look on you and majority a them so called nurses and customer service workers all them com bout a fi look man and a stare in your face like ano work them com and a give bay attitude like them better than other people we have been coming here from Saturday and today is Monday n we still haven’t got through and majority of these workers a walk pass and when you do say something they behave as if we can’t say anything and they pick and choose who they assist smh them need to do better or majority of them can go to taboo to work because that’s what majority of them come to do instead of working ‼️ Trust me it’s a pity I can’t put -0 as the review because these people don’t deserve not even a review

I volunteered here years ago on the maternity ward. It's very sad to see how women gave birth here, compared to Europe. No privacy and little empathy. It seems very poor so I donated money, but they sadly didn't use all of that for the clients... Hope things have changed yet.

The doctors within maternity ward doesn't care about the women. They are just there to kill government time. They will sit and watch the women deliver their own babies. While the midwife tried hard to be there for the moms.

It's a good hospital however expect long waits and if possible, see your family doctor and have them write a letter to take to the hospital if your situation is urgent. Another thing, keep a close watch on the nurses in charge of you and make a note of everything they give to you. They have a history of bad injections

The worse hospital I have ever experienced. There are only a few doctors I will have respect for. The problem here is the doctors have too much ego or self pride to listen and observe. They lack in the ability to learn new things due to their "experience" which I must say is really bad. Even if families of patients are willing to help who may have knowledge and the ability to even sponsor and purchase equipment for the hospital, because of their attitude and negligence towards patients and attitude towards the family members. How can they expect to get assistance if they behave like this. My mother passed at this hospital, I was away before she did and the doctors completely REFUSED TO SPEAK TO ME OVER THE PHONE even though I met them in person literally 10 days before. I sensed they are used to people who are not educated and doesnt like to be challenged EVEN IF THE FAMILY IS WILLING TO HELP. I have lost all hope in the medical service in Ja this hospital, you may go there with a slight problem and may never make it home

One of the worse hospitals in Jamaica my sis in there she had baby earlier than her due date baby was in distress and she had to push instead of them doing a c-section. Now it has been two weeks and she gets another sickness after one gets better and the nurses not paying any attention to her very distasteful. If you don't have money you don't matter

Visiting hospital since 2009 and there has not been any improvement since. They have the service to deliver, but I think it's poor management at the centre of the chaos. With better management, I think this would be a very good hospital.

My Brother was admitted in this hospital on Monday May 17, with a stroke he has bleeding in his brain he was never seen by a specialist or treated with any medication, and was sent home on thursday with no medication. This is gross negligence on the part of the staff.

This hospital lack empathy and compassion to the point where I don't understand HOW they're still in operation?! Particularly the emergency room! Doctors are never available to give update on PT's health, nurses argue with you when asked simple questions, and patient suffers. My grandmother is currently admitted and it breaks my heart to pieces for how she's been treated. They misplaced her dentures and careless if she eats, changed or get a good night sleep. As a healthcare worker caring for patients it makes me angry and sad at the same time because I do my best everyday to meet patients goals and knowing the person you love is being treated so badly seriously agitate me!! Please DON'T NOT GO HERE!! I pray that I find somewhere very soon for her. I also pray that everything that's done to her that's not of God turned out to haunt these staffs!!

I visited the Mandeville public hospital twice in 3 weeks and I am very impressed with the quality of service and the condition of the hospital. I visited the male surgical and the maternity ward and the place is very clean and property organized. I am proud of the hospital where I was born 53 years ago.

one of the WORST hospitals in Jamaica, the staff is very neglectful. You literally have to wait hours to be seen. Your left to sit on a bench for hours and no one to attend to you! The ministry of health needs to really to do something about this. Just horrible!!!

The young boy who is dead, because the neglected way that he was treated, now he is dead. Where is the accountability and consequences. A mother has lost a child. The nurses and doctors, they are cocky, rude, disrespectful, no empathy, no compassion, or care for the people. They are in the wrong profession. It is sad just sad. They are antiquated and out of touch. Remember that you are dealing with sick people. Have love and compassion. They are lazy.A patient walks into the hospital, they will not greet the person. They talk to the patients as if they are animals.

I didn't go here for hospital/medical services so I can't comment on that. The hospital seems small in comparison to many others and the parking facilities seemed inadequate. I got a feeling of congestion there. However, the grounds were clean and well-kept.
