This is a temple for Lord Narasimha on a hillock in Melukote. You can walk up the steps (some are steep and others aren't.. rock cut steps but manageable though). The entire flight of steps could be about 600 steps. If you are not confident / lack of time, you can drive upto certain level beyond which you can walk up. In that case, you will only have to manage the last 100 odd steps. Be mindful of the mischievous monkeys. Avoid carrying anything that attracts their attention. Best is to put your things in a backpack and go up ! At the top, you have some very nice views as well. The temple at the top closes at 2:30 PM in the afternoon while the temple of CheluvaNarayana Swamy closes at around 1:30 PM. So please finish that first before you venture down here. There is a very beautiful pushkarani at the start of the steps. Take time to go down there for a minute. You will like it.

Beautiful temple on the hilltop. An old historical monument well maintained. There's a lot of cool breeze and stalls all the way up selling various eateries and buttermilk. The way up is full of steps and wouldn't take much time as it's a small one. The steps are of various sizes, some are at times big enough. There are mountain goats and a lot of monkeys so be careful of your belongings. Parking might be a little problem as there isn't any near the entrance due to non availability of space but you can place in neighbouring streets and walk up to here. Happy Travels.

Have to climb steps for around 15 mins and not recommended for elderly people. Short wait time for darshan. Beautiful deity in old set temple.

Small but beautiful place, with 3 ancient temples, located in Mandya district of Karnataka. There are about 500 steps to be climbed to reach Sri. Yoganarasimha swamy temple, but you can reduce it to a huge extend by driving vehicle up to the parking slots located above- in that case, do not stop vehicle at the foot of the hill. There is a huge temple pond named Kalyani nearby. Its mesmerizing steps and 'gopura's on sides have been a shooting location for many films. Overall nice place. There is also a stone-way which is a good photographic spot. On the way to the temple, you can also see Vada Kare Lake on the right side of the road, which is also a beautiful spot. Do not expect a mini-Hampi at Melkote. It's a small place.

This temple requires a steep climb to be reached. It takes upto 25-40 mins to climb the stairs. The temple is quite big and generally there won't be much queue. The view from the top is very nice. Would definitely recommend to go here once atleast.

Very nice temple in the hills. The steps are too steep, you can go half the hills in car. Difficult to climb for old people, pregnant ladies, people with knee pain etc. The view from top is amazing.

Melkote Narasimha temple dedicated to Lord Yoga Narasimha stands atop a hill with around 400steps . Steps are bit steep and maybe difficult to climb for elderly people. If you want to skip few steps ,There is a road which reaches half way . After which there might be another 200+ steps to climb. View from the top is marvellous. Timing 9.30am to 1.30pm and 5.30pm to 8pm. There are lot of mischievous monkeys and goats be aware of your bags . Do not carry any eatery’s.

Shri Yoganarasimha swamy temple dates back to the era of prahlada and narasimha. Visited this place with family, its tough for elders to climb the steps but possible. The view from the top is amazing and blessed to take darshana. The Yoga Narasimha Temple in Melukote features of an extraordinary structural design. This ancient temple over 1,000 years old was built during the Hoysala kingdom. Several rulers like Wodeyar Kings of Mysore and few more have contributed towards the temple's paraphernalia for the Lord's worship. The temple is located on a rocky hill known as Yadavagiri or Yadugiri rock overlooking the Cauvery valley (Melukote). The temple has about 300 steep steps accessible halfway by light motor vehicles at a height of 1777 metres above the sea level. The ancient temple fascinates devotees due to its architectural magnificence tranquil environment and spiritual importance. There are around steps that lead to the temple situated high up on the hill. The elaborate engravings on the columns and the whole structure of the temple offer a preview into the architectural elegance of the former period. The temple gopura is noticeable from a distance due to its altitude, however the full splendor of the intricate job of the artists is visible on a closer look.

This majestic temple is built on a rocky hill with around 400 steps to reach main temple. And there is a motorable road reaches to midway of the hill from where it is 150 steps to climb. As one gets near the temple the view of the town, the pond is unbelievably beautiful. This temple is more than 1000 years old and the inscriptions in the foothills speaks about the history of the temple which dates back to the ancient times. The temple was built during the Hoysala kingdom. It is believed that Yoga Narasimha Swamy idol was installed by Baktha Prahlada , son of Hiranyakashapa. It is nearly 131 kms from Bangalore and 51 Kms from Mysore, near Pandavapura in Mandya District amidst lush green paddy fields.

It is a must visit temple in melukote. It is said that without visiting this place you do not complete your pilgrimage in melukote even though you have visited sri cheluvanarayana swamy temple. You need to climb the stairs to reach the temple. Vehicles can go upto half way. From there it's a 15 mins climb which is pretty easy to moderate. On the top you get to see the whole town view of melukote. The wind is very nice to feel. You could spend sometime looking at the wonderful view of melukote. Overall the place is amazing and gives spiritual vibes.

This lovely temple sits atop a hill and was, for me, the most interesting experience of my Melukote visit. There is some walking up steep steps to get to the place (this is difficult for elderly people). Monkeys and goats moving around freely will offer a few thrills, and not always the kind that you want. Views from the top are impressive.

Splendid !! Temple is located on small hill, vehicles can go till half way. 10-15 mins hike to reach temple shrine. Deity is beautiful and you get nice view of near by area. Temple and small hill is dwelling place for many monkeys and careful with them. They might attack sometime if people doesn't allow them to get snacks or anything they carrying. Do not litter on the steps or in temple premises. Beggers are the main problem, in fact everywhere in Melukote. They are some greedy locals who don't want to sit idle in home instead they harasse most of pilgrims and visitors until they get something. Do not encourage them, they also try to influence people since its a temple vicinity and get money in the name of charity. If you really want to do charity them contribute in annadhana or other seva activities initiated by authorities.

Perched atop a hill in the sacred town of Melukote, the Shri Yoganarasimha Swamy Temple is a divine jewel that offers both spiritual solace and a glimpse into Karnataka's rich religious heritage. Dedicated to Lord Narasimha, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, this ancient temple is a testament to spiritual devotion and architectural grandeur. The journey to the temple itself is an experience, with a flight of steps leading to the hilltop, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The climb, though a bit strenuous, is absolutely worth it for the serene and spiritually charged atmosphere that greets you at the top. The temple's architecture is magnificent, showcasing intricate carvings and ancient stone work that reflect the skill and artistry of the past. The sanctum sanctorum, housing the deity of Yoganarasimha Swamy, exudes a powerful presence, and one can feel a sense of divine energy within these ancient walls.

Sri Yoga Narasimha Temple in Melukote houses a very beautiful vigraha of Sri Yoga Narasimha one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. It is said that this Deity was installed by Bhakta Prahlada who was rescued by Lord Narasimha Himself from his demoniac father - Hiranyakashipu. Melukote is a vital Abhimana Sthala well-regarded by Sri Vaishnavas due to its close relationship with Sri Ramanujacharya. Sri Ramanujacharya lived here for twelve years to propagate Sri Vaishnavism when he had to be at a distance from Srirangam. Melkote is also known as Thirunarayanapuram among Sri Vaishnavas and it is one of the four most holy centers of Sri Vaishnavism in South India apart from Srirangam, Thirumalai, and Kanchipuram. Here Lord Narasimha is in a seated position with the Yogapatta. Besides the regular pujas carried out daily, the temple conducts special pujas to celebrate Narasimha Jayanthi festival every year with grandeur. Old and beautiful temple, remeber if going by car then you can reach mid way of the hill (limited car parking here), steep steps won't recommend elderly people and people with knee problem to climb. Be careful with the monkeys anything edible/drinkable (including soft drink bottles) will be taken away by then. Nice view from the top. Recommend to go in the morning.

The Yoga Narasimha Swamy Temple is the most famous attraction in Melkote. The temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, who is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is known for its beautiful architecture, intricate carvings, and stunning idols. The temple complex also includes a large pond, which is believed to have medicinal properties. One of the most unique aspects of the temple is the daily rituals that are performed here. The temple priests perform a special ritual called "Panchamruta Abhishekam," which involves offering five sacred items to the deity. The ritual is believed to have great spiritual significance and is a must-see for visitors to the temple. Apart from the temple, Melkote is also known for its beautiful nature trails, which offer visitors a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the region. Visitors can also enjoy a wide range of local delicacies, including the famous "puliyogare" and "mosaranna."

Climbing near to God is beautiful. But those monkeys, oh my God, they didn't have little fear, they just jump and pick your cover (not bag) from your hand. I don't know, what government is doing in this regard. Monkeys are really intolerable in this place.

Post the dip in Kalyani below - you need to walk up the steps to this temple. There are around 250 odd steps to reach the top. It is a bit odd steps and as such is tricky for older people. Irrespective, overall it is tricky to walk up and down these stairs!! Again you will get enough opportunities to take pictures and videos! You get a very good view and soak in the enormity of the Kalyani below. You also get to see the whole temple town from here. It was not crowded and we could finish the darshan fast. Please be aware of the monkeys here - they are everywhere and keep attacking people with bags or plastic covers. Great views from here - soak in the whole temple town from here 😍

About 200 steps to the top. The murthy looks magnificent. The temple tank is huge with beautifully arranged steps on all 4 sides. For elderly people one third of the climb can be eliminated as vehicles up to a certain point.

The temple is on a hilltop and you need lots of energy to climb the steep steps..vendors on the way will provide you buttermilk and there are huge number of monkeys around. The view from the hill top is amazing..gives you a look at Mysore and Srirangapatna topography. The temple shrine is neatly maintained and Lord Narasimhar showers his bountiful blessings on all.

Beautiful temple on the hill top, you'll have to trek on steps to get to the temple. I would say you'll love the view from the hill top, it would hardly take 15 mins to climb the steps. There's a view point at the end of the steps. Please stop there to enjoy the view.

👍 Good place for photography. Nothing much to expect than a road which snakes the lake and ends up in a small opening. Have some time to make sure you get the right place to get perfect shots from.
