I had visited in end Apr 2022 on a Sunday. Very good and well maintained zoo. ₹100 entry fees for adults, if children are below 5 years age no need for entry ticket. ₹100 if you have separate camera irrespective of type. Walking distance is around 3 km it will take around 3 hours if you want to see all birds, animals. Battery car is also available for which you need to take ticket after getting entry ticket. On entering zoo, you need to pay refundable deposit of ₹10 for every plastic bottles you have and they will label it. On exiting the zoo, show these bottles and get refund. Most of the people get exhausted at exit, so probably we won't go back to the place for refund. Good thing is that the exit gate is leading directly to car parking. So you can easily go to your van or car at the parking lot. Most of hotels around the zoo are vegetarian. this is the only drawback. Since it was a holiday time for kids, the zoo was very much crowded. Due to this during lunch time you hardly get seats at the nearby restaurants and will not have much varieties to order. Hotels nearby serve mostly rice plates during this peak hours.

A beautiful and well maintained zoo. A huge zoo with varieties of species. Carry your own mask to avoid extra ₹10 per mask. The direct view is unforgettable. Cameras cannot justify the view or pleasure of watching them with your own eyes. Hats off to Mysore govt officials.

A zoo with huge area and diverse animals, birds, reptiles and much more. Kids will learn a lot from this place and enjoy a lot. Very crowded on weekends. It is so big and you have to walk a lot to cover almost everything. Electric vehicles are available inside. but to get one ypu will have to wait - not sure whether the vehicle will stop near the cage or fields to see the animals and take pictures or it will just give a quick tour of the zoo. It will take around 3 hours to see the major attractions (if not everything) Ticket price 100 rupees.

I'm not a fan of zoos, but they play a big role in education, nature conservation and the protection of wildlife and fauna. The Sri Chamarajendra Zoological gardens has truly undergone a transformation in the last decade. It's easily of the cleanest and well curated zoo's I've visited. The only gripe is the crowds and noise you have to contend with. Book your tickets in advance and park in the parking area across the zoo. Note that you have to go through the underground walkway to get to the zoo. So if you have a mobility issue, rather get dropped in the front of the zoo. If you can help it, do not bring good or drinks in plastic wrapping. You will have to pay Rs20 per item as a deposit, and then show the empty packets on exit to get the money back. There are loads of drinking fountains around, so maybe pack a drinking bottle or two. The park is fairly big. You can easily do 4km in about 3 hours. The option is there to pre book a golf cart, but this is no fun and they seemed to rush through the exhibits, not to mention creating a traffic jam on the inside.

The best zoo in India as per my knowledge. We were there around morning 10am, the animals were very active and making noises. It has around 3.5km. If you can't walk you opt for battery vehicle by paying 100 per head. Nowhere we could see the gorilla chimpanzees orangutans and every animal is so active during morning hours we should visit for best experience

One must visor this zoo. Many many animals and birds. You may need to take half day if you want to see correctly everything. Beautiful birds and animals were maintained well. Don't waste time much in the beginning. Recommend to walk instead of taking the car. Ticket price is reasonable ₹100/- per head. Loved it

Must visit in Mysore. The zoo is big and located in a prime location close to the palace and fish aquarium. This is a big advantage for Mysore. Entry ticket is Rs.100 for adults 50 for kids and battery vehicle is 200 for adults and 150 for kid's and senior citizens. Please use this facility if you plan to visit more places on the same day. The zoo is cleanly maintained and has enough navigation and information board which is appreciable. It is definitely worth a visit The kids will love it.

Excellent place to spend more than half a day. Kids will love it. Nice spread of animals and path ways have enough shade for a pleasant walk. Good infrastructure in terms of parking, toilets, water and breast feeding rooms. CAUTION: there will be guys roaming around who will come near you and say that the zoo if closed and they can take you around to 10 different places instead. They are cheaters. Stay away from them.

    1. Very Big zoo. It will take 3-4 hrs to cover entire zoo. 2. The zoo was very crowded in weekend. 3. The management is very concern about the environment but the proper execution and co-operation from public can be better. 4. There are lots of birds and animal, I didn't find in another zoo. 5. Dedicated parking is available for both 4 wheeler and 2 wheeler. 2 wheeler parking charge : Rs. 40 /bike. This is only applicable for 4 hrs parking. If you are extending this time they'll charge you more. 6. There are drinking water and toilets available in zoo at many places. 7. You can also finds few shops for snacks inside zoo. 8. Ticket charges for adult = Rs. 100/person.

Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, also known as the Mysore Zoo is one of the best zoological gardens in India. Maharaja Chamaraja Wodeyar established this Zoo in 1892. Excellent outing with kids and family. Either book a battery driven vehicle or walk around the park, in any case the experience is awesome. There are places which dispense water for the visitors at regular intervals. Also washrooms are made at regular intervals. If you visit Mysore, you just cannot afford to miss a visit to the zoo. It is very well maintained.

One of the best tourist attraction, Excellent maintained facility There are good number of resting areas and "water points" for people to rest and refresh. Plastic and food are completely banned except food can he had at re-established areas. There are unique plants ,flowers and tree as well. There is also electric vehicle which is chargeable for quick tour of zoo. The Mysore zoo is the only zoo in India to have a Gorilla. The zoo is also a house to Chimpanzees and Orangutans. Other exotic animals that you can find in Mysore zoo are Giraffes, Zebras, White Deer, African Elephants, Bears, Porcupines, Rhinoceros, Tapir, Otters etc There is one white tiger that is more than 15 year old and many beautiful and unique birds from other countries. Overall you can visit and can spend whole day without getting bored.

Probably one of the best zoos in India, it's already Asia's largest. Opt for an electric car, if you have small children or old age people. Even in the electric car shuttle it takes 1.5 hours to complete. They have a variety of animals, kids love this zoo. Clean, well organized and well maintained. Must visit on weekdays to avoid crowds and enjoy with your family and friends. Go early in the morning to watch animals awake otherwise in the afternoon animals tend to sleep under shade and you could miss the fun. Ample paid parking space is available in front of the zoo entry gate.

It's always good to visit this zoo with good varieties of animals and birds. New animals are also filling the place as the old ones are expiring. Maintenance has increased tremendously with good focus on customer experience and safety. Glass barricades are a good addition but it has to be cleaned occasionally. Feels that animals are well maintained with good flow of adoptions in the recent days. No special value for animal adopters (which is seen in other zoos). Even a small gesture like a returnable ID card would also attract more people. Even adoption boards for less than 20k amount are not put. Parking space, entrance and other amenities are increasing day by day, which attracts more and more tourists. Overall, a fine place for 2 to 3 hours of time.

Beautiful well maintained zoo with lots of bride and animals, and they all look healthy and is kept in healthy atmosphere and surrounding. A must visit place Mysore. There are caddies available to go around the zoo if you feel it will take too long to walk.. It's for one hour, Rs. 200 per person. The zoo entry ticket is Rs. 100. There is an option of buying ticket online too when it's open.

Mysore Zoo is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering an enchanting experience that goes beyond the mere appreciation of fauna. Nestled in the heart of Mysore, this zoological park seamlessly blends conservation with visitor comfort, creating an immersive journey into the animal kingdom. During my recent visit, I was impressed by the thoughtful amenities that enhanced the overall experience. Ample drinking water stations, well-maintained restrooms, strategically placed dustbins, and informative signage boards ensured a comfortable and enjoyable stroll through the zoo. The presence of benches at key locations provided a welcome opportunity to pause, relax, and soak in the natural beauty. The zoo's commitment to diversity is evident in its expanding collection of animals, featuring a captivating array of species. From majestic big cats to playful primates, each enclosure is meticulously designed to mimic the natural habitat, fostering a sense of wonder and connection with the inhabitants. One of the standout features is the exquisite range of birds that grace the aviaries. The vibrant plumage and melodious tunes of these feathered residents add a symphony of colors and sounds to the serene ambience. The zoo's dedication to creating a clean and well-maintained environment further amplifies the joy of the visit. Mysore Zoo isn't just a tourist attraction; it's a testament to conservation efforts and a celebration of biodiversity. Whether you're a family seeking a day of educational fun or a solo traveler appreciating the wonders of the animal kingdom, this zoo is a must-visit destination in Mysore. The combination of great facilities, diverse wildlife, and a picturesque setting makes it a truly unforgettable experience.

It is a wonderful place. A must visit place for all animal lovers. The park is clean and well maintained. The setup is convenient and the sign boards really helped to walk through. Paid mini vehicle service is available for those who find it difficult to move along. The management takes care of the security of the visitors by ensuring the facilities are safe. Some parts are still under construction. I guess they are expanding the park which is good.

Must visit place for every visitor to Mysore. Will need minimum three hours to enjoy the whole place. Well designed, sign boards placed every where. Very well maintained. Clean. Good variety of various species of Birds, animals, reptiles. Also have buggies to take you around for an hour at a nominal price. The drivers of the buggies also guide you through the whole ride. Though it was hot and humid enjoyed the visit. Even on a weekday was crowded. Please note: the zoo is closed on Tuesday.

Mysore Zoo (Now Mysuru Zoo)[4] (officially the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens) is a 157-acre (64 ha) zoo located near the palace in Mysore, India. It is one of the oldest and most popular zoos in India, and is home to a wide range of species (168). Mysore Zoo is one of the city's most popular attractionsMysore Zoo was created from the private menagerie of Maharaja Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar in 1892, on 10 acres (4.0 ha) of the summer palace. Over the next 10 years the zoo was expanded to 45 acres (18 ha) with spacious enclosures that are still in use. Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar Originally called the Palace Zoo, it was renamed "Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens" in 1909. Mr. A.C. Hughes, from South Wales, was the zoo's first superintendent. He served as the superintendent from 1892 to 1924. Hughes, Sir Mirza Ismail, and G.H. Krumbiegel worked towards refashioning the zoo and updating it with modern, natural enclosures. It now includes a bandstand and an artificial lake. It was given to the Department of Parks and Gardens of the Mysore State Government in 1948. The zoo was expanded first with another 50 acres (20 ha), and then another 150 acres (61 ha) with the acquisition of the Karanji Tank (Karanji reservoir), in which an artificial island has been created as a sanctuary for birds.[2] The zoo was handed over to the Forest Department in 1972, and was entrusted to Zoo Authority of Karnataka (the first autonomous organization in India to manage a zoo) in 1979.[2]

Great and unforgettable experience. The zoo is really fantastic. It is just not packed with animals but presenting them in a animal friendly and as natural as possible environment. A great collection of eye catching animals in 3kms of area. It is suitable for kids and grown ups. Sign boards and total geographical maps everywhere. They provide lots of background information also for those who not just love the animals but are also interested to get to know more about their native place and living . Drinking water, child care rooms, feeding rooms , shopping and restaurants are available inside the zoo.

One of the most visited place in mysore. This is a very nice zoo with a lot of wild life. Animals and birds are very healthy. You can easily spend around 3 to 4 hrs here with your loved ones and your kids.To make it plastic free zone they have taken a good initiative, which spread awareness among visitors.Toilets too available, they are not visible in main road. Monkeys are very aggressive near food point in the zoo.

I have watched a number of Zoos and I really don't like the conditions in which the animals and birds are kept. But this one is probably the only Zoo which I liked. First of all there are a wide variety of animals and birds here. Also from the conditions of it, looks like they are tended very well. Also the cleanliness and overall management is outstanding. There is a nominal entry fee, which they charge and I think considering the efforts they put in, its worth it. Even if you are not much in Zoo, you should try this place.

Well maintained place with healthy and happy looking animals. The only concern that we found and that even others were talking about is about the directions and the huge map that they have put up - it gives absolutely no idea where to go for what! It would be better if there's a single direction where people can cover the entire place without any confusion. It's high time they develop some app for the zoo that works like google so that people can locate places easily using their mobiles once they download it. Else it becomes a very long walk unless we hire a battery operated vehicle. So, make sure you take a ticket for the battery vehicle so that the tension is theirs and you can happily enjoy watching what you see from where they drop you at the frequent stops.

Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, also known as Mysore Zoo, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Mysore, India. As a visitor, I found the zoo to be a great place to spend a day, especially if you're interested in wildlife and conservation. The zoo is spread over a large area and is home to a wide variety of animals, including tigers, lions, elephants, bears, deer, and many species of birds and reptiles. The enclosures are well-maintained and provide ample space for the animals to move around freely. One of the things that impressed me about the zoo was its focus on conservation and education. The zoo has a number of programs and exhibits that aim to raise awareness about endangered species and their conservation. They also have a breeding program for several endangered species, including the white tiger and the Indian rhinoceros. The zoo is well-organized and easy to navigate, with clear signposting and maps provided at the entrance. There are plenty of benches and shaded areas throughout the park where you can take a break and enjoy the scenery. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens if you're in Mysore. It's a great place to learn about wildlife and conservation while enjoying a fun day out with family and friends.

Visited on a Sunday morning. Ticket fee is Rs. 100 for adults. Entered quickly with no waiting/queue for ticket purchase. Didn't really expect much visiting a zoo as adults. However, we did end up enjoying every bit of the 3 hours spent in the zoo. The variety of animals and bird species with details of each mentioned in a visible and informative way, was quite good. The place is well maintained with all facilities/amenities available. Total walking distance is around 4km. You can opt for an electric buggy if you cannot walk (extra Rs. 200 per person) They have a restaurant somewhere mid-way through the zoo. Food, snacks and Beverages are available. Quality and price is decent. Recommended to visit in the morning, as it gets quite hot in the afternoon and also must animals go inside the shelter or are inactive post noon. Overall a must visit for people of all ages visiting Mysore.

It was awesome to see so many kinds of God’s beautiful creation at one place (various kinds of birds, reptiles, animals). Definitely would recommend to set aside atleast 3-4 hours if you want to walk through the zoo and see all the enclosures. There are ample number of benches and rest stops throughout the zoo. They also have battery operated vehicles which rides through the zoo. There is also a cafeteria towards the exit for lunch and eats. It is very well maintained by the staff. It’s a must visit place. NOTE: They are closed on Tuesdays.

The best zoo in India and one of the best in the world as of today. The zoo is very big spanning across 157 acre and a walking of distance of around 3.5km. If you cannot walk there are golf carts available for some extra fair. The number of animals and species is just astounding. There are more than 562 mammals, 748 birds and 103 reptiles. The variety is quite big and animals and tress from all around the world can be found here. There is a lake, called Karanji which i wasn't able to visit as it required a ticket of its own but it wasn't mentioned anywhere near the ticket counter. There are souvenir shops, a restaurant and a Mysore sandal shop inside the zoo too. Don't miss the bird enclosure as it has many birds moving freely and is really beautiful. An advice from my side: there are many places with free drinking water where you can fill up your bottle, but if you don't have a bottle and buy one from the restaurant, make sure to keep the bottle with you till the end and there will be a counter where you can give the bottle back to get Rs10 back per bottle. (going to upload only some photos as i didn't take that many photos)

Mysore Zoo is one of the oldest and best zoos in India. Established by the erstwhile king of Mysore, it boasts of the rich heritage of those times. think its second largest zoo in Asia and maintenance is really good i don't remember the entrance fee as it was hiked recently I guess its below 100 you can spend entire day. You should have stamina to walk entire zoo. It is located very close to the Mysore Palace and reaching here is very convenient. Tickets costs are very nominal. You can visit by foot (takes around 4 to 5 hours) or you have the option of an electric car (takes around 1 hour) that stops near selected animal cages. I would suggest that you take a tour on foot and don's miss any part of the zoo. You can see animals, birds, reptiles, and aquatic species of a very vast variety here.

Must visit place A well maintained zoo, with so many birds , wild Animals, Reptiles. It would be a very interesting and educative day out to kids. Its very clean and neat. There's a concept of adopting the animals, which is a very good initiative. Description and details of the animals are displayed . Certainly we had a great time at the zoo.. But disappointed about the fact that the animals no longer stay at their home. They no longer have the freedom of walking around in wide open forests. They can no longer hunt over the prey.. Poor animals and birds have lost their natural homes. Visit the zoo and adopt Animals if possible.

Zoo is good with wide variety of animals, birds and even plants and trees, from all over the world. Another thing which is really helpful is the info board displayed in front of each animal type. This board contains animal name, it's biological name and also it's uniqueness, which is really very informative. Zoo is very well maintained. It is difficult to find even a single piece of plastic anywhere in the zoo. But looks like animals have become very weak and I also observed that the food that was being kept for animal was very less. Some of the animals are very less in number. Minimum 3 hours is needed to just see all the animals. It would take more time, if going through the info of each animal is also intended. Entry fees is 100/head, which is costly, as the animals' maintenance would be taken care by the people adapting the animal.

You can also utilize the electric vehicle by paying bit Farr. But there are some missing animals in the zoo. Also it would be nice if they can arrange some bicycle 🚲 inside the zoo.

The sight of majestic African elephants, graceful cheetahs, towering giraffes, powerful tigers, regal Asiatic lions, playful chimpanzees, intelligent orangutans, and enigmatic jaguars creates an unforgettable experience. The zoo's collection of birds also impresses with their vibrant plumage and enchanting melodies. Amidst the natural beauty, the zoo is well-maintained, providing a clean and comfortable place for all its inhabitants.

The one zoo I love going back several times since I was a kid, with my friends and now with my kids. Everytime it was fun experience. It was a long walk but the canopy of trees helped us to energize. Better to go early to avoid sun. Also carts are available for people who can't walk much. Overall enjoyable experience for everyone. Plastics are not allowed. If we carry they put sticker for 10rs each and need to return at end to get back the money. Good idea to stop littering but still can see plastics thrown inside

One of the biggest zoo. Kids will definitely have a great time. Car Parking available and charges are INR 70. Lots of restaurants available outside zoo. Drinking water available inside. It’s a plastic free zone so it will be charged 10 Rs. per item and will be refunded once you bring back the same outside while leaving. Few tips to follow: Avoid visiting on weekends as it will be too crowded. Avoid going in the afternoon as it will be too hot and most of the animals will be sleeping. Ticket price: Entry fee: 100 per person Battery Car: 200 per person.

I had an incredible experience at this zoo! The variety of unique animals, birds, and reptiles is truly impressive. From rare species to majestic birds of prey and fascinating reptiles, every exhibit was captivating. The knowledge board provided informative talks and demonstrations, enhancing the educational value of the visit. The zoo's commitment to conservation efforts is commendable, and I left feeling inspired to support their mission. A must-visit for anyone looking to marvel at the wonders of the natural world!

Loved the zoo. Visited around 22nd August amidst corona... I would rate it as one of the best zoo down south... very well planned, it has an amazing variety of animals/birds/reptiles (not limited to this).... Every section has a board with description about the animal, its habitat, which gives you a good glimpse into its life... I prefer the morning slot(opens around 8.30 am) since its less crowded during that time... You should spend approx 3-4 hrs for a detailed tour.. A must check list item in your Mysore itinerary

A very good zoological Garden that I have ever met. You can see the animals very close and it is very impressive for any tourists and the exit gate is made in such a way that you need to see all the animals there. Maintained properly. Animals are in a proper healthy diet. Overall a good place for tourist attractions.

It been long time I visited mysuru zoo may be after 15 years. We can find varieties of species but few of them are very less in quantity like 2 lions, 2 leopards etc. Zoo is very well maintained and they don’t allow eatables to carry on walk through. It would take 3-4 hours to see entire zoo. Birds watch is very nice compared to wild animals. Seems animals look like they are not feeding food properly and sick. Overall, I can say it’s neither good nor bad. One time watch and children will enjoy more. TICKET PRICE: ₹100/person(weekends), ₹80/person(weekdays) and children (₹50). TUESDAY IS HOLIDAY.

Mysore zoo is a 157-acre (64 ha) zoo located near the palace. It is one of the oldest and most popular zoos, and is home to a wide range of species (168). Mysore Zoo is one of the city's most popular attractions. While mainly depending on entry fees for its financing, an adoption scheme introduced in the early 2000s has been a success. Celebrities, institutions, animal lovers and volunteers of various clubs in the zoo have contributed directly to the welfare of the zoo inhabitants.

One of the best zoo in the country,I reduced one star because not a single employee of the zoo was using mask during corona pandemic. From ticket counter, inside guard, battery vehicle driver, inside restaurant employees not a single person was even carrying a mask. Apart from that lots of animals and in well maintained atmosphere will surely entertain specially the kids. need almost 2 hours to cover by walking. battery vehicle available also in chargeable basis.

We went eary in the morning during weekday and not many people were there. Place was clean and well maintained. Battery operated vehicle can be taken but they will give you whole round in just 1 hour and will stop only on main attractions not on all the places, one can pay for 6 people and book it privately. It is good if you dont want to walk around. Parking for vehicles is opposite side of road.

Popular Mysore zoo is a must visit Zoological animal park and we spend nice time with family and my children while visiting Mysore. The park is maintained very clean and a pleasure to watch animals all are very active, good and lively. Parking vehicles is a concern during weekends and holidays, we need to park vehicles 1-3 km away from the park and come by walk or book auto. Online booking a battery car in advance is highly recommended to get priority on board vehicles timely without wasting time.

One of the finest zoos ever visited. Indeed you'll realise the cleanliness the management has maintained in every nook and corner of the zoo when you walk for the 3km stretch. The loop starts with the entry and ticket counter leading to the check-in along with plastic bottle registration counter (10 rupees to be deposited for each bottle which will refunded if you show the bottle at the exit). Later on comes the birds section, carnivores, herbivores, reptiles, snake house etc.. You get to see most of the animals here like elephants, chimpanzee, leopard, tiger, lion, giraffe and zebra. They also have a few canteens in-house which serve delicious food.

Such a outstanding zoo and it deserves to be in the position for one of the best zoos in the world Cleanliness beautiful and colourful gardens with its heartwarming ambience also creates a feeling of greenery for the wild animals . The zoo is located far from the city so it causes no disturbance to the animals. The animals are very happy .They have regularly cleaned well spaced enclosures with rich and healthy food provided daily . The enclosures really match their habitat and from their behaviour itself we can find the animals being comfortable. They are well treated by well experienced doctors and they are well looked after by their zoo keepers . So far this is the best zoo I have visited .Really wishing to visit it again . A very good place for families to visit with their children and for school trips . I highly recommend visiting during mornings and afternoons

Very nicely maintained.. worth visiting the place with family and kids.. if you're going with kids, better you take a battery operated vehicle available inside the zoo. One of the best Zoo I have visited till date. They have their own dedicated parking lot for two and four wheelers with nominal zoo entry fee and parking fee. You can bring your own water bottle, but they will keep the use and throw mineral water bottles or you have to pay some small amount to keep it to yourself. They are checking the body temperature for every individual and have kept hand sanitizers as well. This zoo has all kinds of animals from giraffe to lion to snakes. Have around 3kms walkway throughout the zoo. They provide battery operated buggy as well but I would prefer to walk throughout the zoo. Adequate RO water filter is placed inside the zoo along with a restaurant. It is worth visiting whenever you are in Mysore.

Take a tour to Mysore in between the months of October and February, as the weather is pleasant and blessed with cool breezes, making it the best time to visit Mysore. Awesome, fantastic, must visit zoo - especially if you have kids Parking facilities available for all types of vehicles Entry fees is 100 rs per adult but worth every penny (camera charges extra) Open from 8 am to 5 pm - very busy on weekends and holidays. Avoid afternoon as usually animals rest so best time to visit is early morning. They have battery operated car for zoo visit but it is one hour only Better to walk and see as you can see animals at leisure and spend time. Total walking distance from entrance to exit is around 3 km, but not at all tiring (my 5 yrs old daughter walked it all happily) They have wide range of animals, birds, reptiles. Special mention of Giraffe, zebra, Rhinoceros, Hippopotamus, Lion, Royal Bengal Tiger, white tiger, leopard, cheetah, jaguar, elephants, bison, bear, and much much more. They do have canteen facilities too and rest rooms, toilets, child care rooms, seating area at very frequent intervals which is really appreciable. In nutshell it's must visit place

This is a very nicely maintained Zoo. One of the best in India. Long before in 2003-4 I visited this place, that time as well it was very good and still they are keeping up their good work. Parking space near Zoo is available but looking at the count of people visiting this place they have arranged more space to a nearby open area. You need to go a bit early so that you get that place. They charge 100 extra for the camera, I think they should reduce this charge. Nowadays even mobile cameras have more configuration than DSLR. In the zoo there are many rare organisms, like various species of birds, zebra, Giraffe, African Elephant and many many more. Kids love this place. Even elders as well. Must visit place in Mysore.

Mysore Zoo, also known as Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, is a popular tourist attraction and one of the oldest and most well-maintained zoos in India. It is home to a wide variety of animal species, including many endangered and exotic animals. Visitors to Mysore Zoo can witness over 150 different species of animals, including lions, tigers, elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinoceros, orangutans, and various types of birds and reptiles. The zoo also has a separate enclosure for nocturnal animals, where visitors can observe creatures such as bats, owls, and hedgehogs. It has successfully bred several endangered species, including the Indian rhinoceros and the Bengal tiger. The zoo also offers several amenities for visitors, including a battery-operated vehicle for sightseeing, a food court, and various information kiosks. It is open on all days of the week except Tuesdays and offers a unique opportunity to get up close with wildlife in a safe and controlled environment. Overall, Mysore Zoo is a must-visit destination for animal lovers and nature enthusiasts, providing an immersive and educational experience for all ages.

Ticket Rate Adults RS 100/- 5-12 year Rs 50/- less than 5year Free The zoo is spread over an area of 157 acres and is home to a variety of animals, birds, and reptiles. Best zoo I have visited. The place is well maintained with a lot of green cover. However you have to walk 3.5km to watch all the exhibits.

I really like to visit zoo. I have been to Banergatta zoo 4 times. But when I visited this zoo; I was simply awestruck; this zoo is very large with diverse animals and they are still adding animals. Even the trees were so huge and tall inside the zoo. You can see Rhino up close and if you are lucky enough; you will get his attention. They have huge number of snakes 🐍. King cobra and pythons are scary yet beautiful to see. This is an experience. Please do visit.

It’s a wonderful place with wide collection of animals which are taken care really well. Almost all of them have a name 😊 The parking space is huge and well managed. Inside also all the staff is guiding and you will enjoy everything especially kids will love the place too much. Be prepared to walk almost 4 Kms when visiting the zoo although battery operated vehicles are available.

A very good zoo. Well maintained with a lot of animals. Even car facilities are available for aged people. We need to get tickets separately for it. If you can then go by foot to cover all animals. It will take nearly 3-4hrs by foot. My favourite zoo till date.

Sri Chamarajendra zoo is one of the best place around mysore. If you are visiting to mysore palace you can add this place to your bucket list. Entry fee was ₹100 but it worth every rupee. A very well organized and systematic zoo. A huge verities of birds collection are their in this zoo. Tigers, chimpanzees, reptiles, and my favorite giraffe. Altogether is very nice place for both kids and adults.

good place to take children, lots of animals from all over the world. well maintained too. staff is also helpful. Can buy tickets online to save time at the counter. Electric cars are very convenient for a quick tour. Kids will learn better when they see the animals in real time.

Very well maintained zoo. Large variety of animal are there. Giraffe, rhino, snakes, zebra, chimpanzee etc, very large zoo. Good eating facilities and washrooms are inside zoo complex. There are electric vehicle to show the zoo, however number of such vehicles are less, on public holidays, there is waiting time to get such vehicles

This place is confined home for many wild animal species, who once were in an endless native jungle home. Includes many rare species as a Wallaby, Brazilian Tapir etc.. of which not so many are highlighted. Elephants, Bengal tiger, white tiger, Lion, Leopard, Jaguar, gorilla, orangutan, chimps, Indian Gaur, antelope, wild goats, snakes, crocodiles, turtles, aviary and many more Entrance is through a subway from the parking area across the road. Not wheelchair accessible, difficult to carry kids stroller too. May be there is another way around!! Entry tickets are 100/adult and 50/ kid > 5 years old. It is preferred to visit in the morning. If you prefer to take electric buggy enquire in the counter. Plastic wraps will be allowed inside by paying a refundable charge of ₹10/pack and on exit refund is quick and easy. Would have been good if the electric buggies follow a hop-in hop-out approach, but rather they wait for passengers to return after visiting each animal enclosure. Washrooms are maintained well, drinking water sources at multiple locations. Walk through aviary is a plus, with steal chain screens. Few animals like Gorilla, Brazilian Tapir are found alone in the enclosure without a companion, which should be considered. A Baboon (check pics) has some medical condition to be treated and not sure if any Veterinarian is treating it?

Very beautiful and huge places left for animals. You need to walk a lot and most of the time, animals go far from the view point so you might not be able to see Anaconda or crocodile or even few owls and snakes. I enjoyed the nature, I wish I could feed elephants. The cutest thing is they have named animals and have their birthdays.

Such a pleasant and good surroundings experience and stress buster kinda place to visit guys. Everyone should visit with kids and it’s just 2.5km only like circle place. But somehow it may change your stress thoughts, basically I love the Otters in it as it cuteness😛.

Clean and neat zoo (Except for the sanitizer which smelled of urine). You will certainly feel sad for the animals. But you do get to see many animals including the rhinos, leopards, tigers, giraffes to name a few. The best of the pick were the Giraffes. They had a Zen like look

One of my favorite zoos in the country. I like it as the animals are much closer to us than other zoos. It makes a big difference especially if you are with small children. There is a very good collection of animals in the zoo. I hired the battery car to go with the family. The guide was friendly, helpful and informative. Maybe it missed having a safari ride.

A popular tourist attraction in Mysuru. They maintain cleanliness and have a wide variety of animals. Most of the animals are also adopted by a lot of people. Entry ticket is 100rs per adult and 100rs per still camera. Personally I feel that these animals should slowly be moved to wildlife sanctuaries. Giraffe, cheetah, African elephants and other geographical animals to be moved to their natural habitats outside India as well. Few uncertainties were about 2 missing African elephants , 1 old chimpanzee and a certain caretaker was inside hyena cage with no protection and the animal was 1m far from him and samething for rhino and hippopotamus

Entry fee Rs. 100 per person. Be awar, this is a plastic free zone. Don't take loose plastic bags to the zoo, they will be discarded. Snack packets or single use plastic water bottles are allowed inside only by depositing 10 rs per item. At the exit you can scan the bar codes placed on them and get back the deposit amount. That way people are forced not to throw out the plastic inside the zoo premises.

Great place for a family outing! It's better to reach early before 10 AM to get a proper parking. I observed that people who had reached late after 11 AM parked right outside the zoo and the Traffic Police imposed a fine. The zoo is well maintained, free of plastic and litter. It has a beautiful lake, amazing wild animals, birds and snakes and a whole lot of greenery. We spent about 3 hours going through all of the animals, butterflies, trees and snakes. The best zoo I've seen. The tram facility makes it comfortable for oldies and young children. One can cover the entire zoo in an hour with the tram, while seeing all the animals for sufficient duration. One can also walk, which will take around 3hrs but with plenty of seats on the way it'll be fun for kids and younger families. Ample parking space, affordable price and variety of animals in good health along with a green canopy throughout the zoo makes it a wonderful experience. Must visit place for travellers coming to Mysore.

  • 1/5 Renji S. 3 years ago on Google
As I entered and began watching the birds and animals I didn't have a sense of amusement. I was not in a sense of wow. I was like how are they surviving in such small cages. This is the first time I visited a zoo. Really saddened to see the animals and birds kept in a cage We humans during this pandemic actually understands what being in a cage means I surely will never visit a zoo. It's saddening. But if u do like to visit there are drinking and restroom facilities. Phones are allowed. If you are carrying a camera you need pay a fee at the entrance There is a electric vehicle which takes u around the zoo. If not you can walk. It may take around one and half hour to cover the entire zoo. If you are with children and aged people it may take longer time than usual. No food items are allowed while roaming around. Also, during my visit I could see few kids immitating the animals which was a disastrous scene. I urge parents to teach kids to be well mannered

Awesome. Do not miss. A place which defines how public places have to be maintained. Well laid routes. Clean cages. Healthy looking animals. Sanitisation. All in all . Kudos

  • 5/5 Arun Jyoti K. 3 years ago on Google
Absolutely fantastic. Very very neat and clean. Excellently maintained. Completely safe and secured place. Very charming animals as well as there is a fantastic ampi theatre in side the Zoo where everything of the Zoo is being shown. I have seen so many Zoos and it's obviously one of the best because, I think it's not only a Zoo, but can be treated as a place of so many trees and trees which have changed the total inside atmosphere. There is a hospital for the wild animals with surgery unit and there is very big kitchen for the animals of the Zoo. Lovely restaurant is also there. Here, there are plenty of sitting arrangements, drinking water, mother and baby care rooms and very clean urinals and latrines for the visitors. Hope in future, it will further develop. No doubt it's marvellous.

Sri Chamarajendra zoological Gardens is well known as 'Mysore Zoo' established in the year 1892. This zoo is held in a huge area which is located in the city near to the Mysore Palace. It's one of the tourist attractions there. You should reach the place in the morning itself for seeing and spending much time with the animals. Please avoid plastic while entering the zoo because they will not allow you to take in. You should walk around 4 kilometres in the zoo inorder to reach the exit incase if you are not willing to walk you can take the help of a battery car for a reasonable fare. This zoo visit is worth the money for kids and adults too. You'll be enjoyed throughout the visit for sure. Firstly you can see different species of birds especially the white peacocks, different colored parrots, hens and much more. After that you can watch different exotic wild animals such as white tigers, leopards, hippocampus. You can also find a special place for all the snakes there in a very protective way. The major attraction is about the African elephants, giraffes, deers, pandas, different kinds of monkeys. You can also find a food court in the zoo. Overall it can be considered as a good joyful and educational trip.

Mysore zoo is clean, good parking space is available under the hot sun @50 rupees for 4 hours. (10 rs per extra hour) Fruits are strictly not allowed For Biscuits, water bottles and packed eatables, you have to make a refundable deposit. Ideal time to cover the full place is 3.30 to 4 hours. Somewhat Hygienic washrooms are in place. Pathway is not sunny. Its under good shade of trees. Most of the animals looks like sedated. They will always be sleepy in some invisible corner of its cage. Animals look very malnutritioned. The places from where the animals can be seen, will be closed and no entry boards are placed. Many of the cages are empty. Taking camera inside is waste. Cages will be obstruction, glass reflection will prevent clear view or animals will be somewhere in an invisible corner. Overall, i felt bannerughatta park is better than this.

I don't know how to post this, i have been tho this zoo 15 years ago but few days back i chose to give a visit again and that's a big mistake. I think some renovations are going and only few paths are open for walk - that's not my concern. Ok straight to the point, no sufficient water for the zoo animals, no sufficient trees for the caged animals, trees has been cut, every animals desperately looking for shadow and water. I seem them panting continuously and wandering restlessly. An old African elephant chained and struggling to walk and eat - that was my last minute in that zoo, i left.

I visited this place mid of day I.e is 2pm and it look like all creatures in this zoo are settled for rest 🙂 so it's bit difficult to locate any wildlife animal (tiger, loin, cheeta) or bird as they is their hut so I suggest visit this palce early morning.

Arrangement of zoo cages has no sence. The zoo parking is the worst thing in mysore. I lost my 1500 helmet. The good thing to see is the giraff , bear , white tiger. If you have enough money go with the battery operated vehilcle.

Mysore was the capital of Mysore state from about 1800 to 1973. After India re-organized the states, Mysore state was expanded to include Kannada-speaking districts that were part of neighbouring states. It was renamed Karnataka, and the capital was transferred to Bangalore

Visited Mysore Zoo after many years. I was very happy to see the cleanliness of the premises. Hardly any smell or stench from the animal cages/surroundings. The surroundings have been maintained with lot of greenery. The administration enforcement to avoid food inside the zoo area is commendable. All animals have been properly tagged, new developments like open air theatre and directions to animal areas are really good. My kids enjoyed watching the animals and we adults enjoyed the day outing. Visitors can be educated to avoid crowding and shouting, so that animals are not scared. This will also help the overall health of animals and fun quotient of visitors.

When you have 3-4 hours to spend please take a walk in this zoo. You'll remember for the rest of your life. And yes, go morning when the sunshines before you start feeling the heat. When you are tired from the heat so are the animals. The battery vehicle is a god gift for elderly people, pregnant women. It's exactly an hour. Rs. 150 for the ride is definitely worth the money.

Our second visit and still a very good experience, highly recommended for kids. Zoo has ample amount of parking, though 60 rupees was not too much for the services provided. It is kept clean with clean bathrooms and drinking waters through out.. Crowds can be issue on weekends, so plan on weekdays if possible. Nice canopy of trees so the hot sun was never an issue.. will recommend to avoid the electric cart if possible and explore the beauty on foot.. it tools us 5 hours including lunch and detailed walk around ..

  • 5/5 Advay S. 3 years ago on Google
A perfectly maintained place. The zoo authority won't let you to litter around, they'll provide you with paper bags to carry your foodstuffs. The zoo is very large with birds and animals of all sorts and also of rare species... Hundreds of soothing trees have been planted. Eateries and cafeterias available nearby.

  • 4/5 Rohit D. 3 years ago on Google
No doubt that this zoo has been rated as one of the best in India. The zoo is huge spread over 150+ acres. There are all sorts of animal related services available right inside the zoo. The best way to visit is in a electrical vehicle which takes you on a one hour tour. The animals are well feed and the cleanliness inside is great.

  • 5/5 Amrut I K. 3 years ago on Google
Wonderful zoo, nice place, peaceful. Animals birds are well maintained. Healthy animals. Battery car available and 150/- each, they will take you for an hour and drop you at exit. Better suggestion is to walk and watch which will take you 2 hours.

  • 5/5 Diana B. 3 years ago on Google
Mysore Zoo is the best one for children to go see the animals. Though personally i don't like the idea of keeping animals caged but i see lot of changes and improvements in the Mysore Zoo. More animals and birds have been added, the place is kept very clean for both animals and people. Safety measures are much better than what it used to be when we visited as kids. For people who can not walk around approximately 7km to cover the entire Zoo, can take the electric cars which will take you around the Zoo and you also get the tour guide who gives you more details on the animals. Overall, children will enjoy the visit.

If a little bit more caring taken by the authority everyone would feel happy .Because Only happy and healthy animals are the most attracting part of the zoo .

Not a place worth visiting it's just a time waste.

There are restaurants and book shops inside the premises of the zoo. It's open for 12 months of the year and you won't be disappointed like other places. It's attracts a lot of tourists and hence it is sometimes too much crowded.

Close 3 km long Zoo with various animals and birds been kept for visitors to see. If you are not too comfortable to walk all of that then they provide a small golf car type ride with a charge so that you don't feel tired at the end of it. I saw a giraffe for the first time in my life. Beautiful park and very well maintained. Only that I don't appreciate animals being trapped and kept away from their natural habitat. But thats my personal opinion. Over all must visit

Mysore Zoo was created from the private menagerie of Maharaja Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar in 1892, on 10 acres (4.0 ha) of the summer palace. Over the next 10 years the zoo was expanded to 45 acres (18 ha) with spacious enclosures that are still in use.[2] The Zoo's original founder, Sri Chamarajendra Wodeyar Originally called the Palace Zoo, it was renamed "Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens" in 1909. Mr. The zoo was expanded first with another 50 acres (20 ha), and then another 150 acres (61 ha) with the acquisition of the Karanji Tank (Karanji reservoir), in which an artificial island has been created as a sanctuary for birds.[2] The zoo was handed over to the Forest Department in 1972, and was entrusted to Zoo Authority of Karnataka (the first autonomous organization in India to manage a zoo) in 1979.[2] The zoo had completed 100 years in 1992. The centenary celebrations were held in 1990 and 91. During the centenary celebrations various developmental activities were initiated such as renovation and modification of the entrance gate, hospital building, Walk Through Reptiles, etc. The bust of Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar, founder of Mysore Zoo, was unveiled. The logo of the zoo, centenary souvenir, publication of literature & leaflets, conducting various competitions, preparation of a documentary film were other highlights.

Excellent location. Zoo with all amenities with educating experience. Must visit for families with young kids.. You can spend two to three hours to cover entire zoo.. if you are in hurry.. take a battery car which will cost you additional ₹150 per person (2021) but can help you to cover the entire zoo in one hour.. I will recommend battery car if you visit this place with senior citizens and toddlers. Otherwise walking is best mode to check this place. The entire zoo is greenery, shady and pleasant to walk, even in hot sunny day. Overall this zoo is definitely one of the best zoo in the country.

Used to be one of my favorite places in mysore when I was a kid. It still is but sometimes the whole thing of seeing animals/birds in confined environment is hurting. But the folks in Mysore Zoo are doing tremendous job in maintaining this beautiful place and it's inhabitants very well. The cleanliness is noticeable. Could see docs taking care of the birds/animals regularly. The place is huge and to see the full place in detail would take you the entire day and tonne of energy. Wish the zoo authority gives an option of boarding and deboaring the buggy at diff places across the zoo than only in beginning. Entry fee is very reasonable. The souvenir shop is def not worth as it has nothing which showcases this place but has all branded products. The canteen is pretty decent too but it's in far end of the zoo. Must visit if you are first timer to mysore.

  • 5/5 Hemanth S. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent maintained facility ! One has options to walk through the 3 km stretch or avail the Electric buggy at an affordable cost. The zoo has maintained very near realistic environment for the animals and also has a wide variety of animals in its premise. Kids enjoy it a lot. There are good number of resting areas and "water points" for people to rest and refresh. Plastic and food are completely banned except food can he had at re-established areas. There is a good food court after around 75% of the walk for people to refresh. A gift store is also present if one is looking for a souvenir. All in all a day well spent.

All the animals look weak and the conditions don’t look conducive for them. The Jaguar was in a small cage getting super restless. The place is clean and well maintained. Though the cages are too small be it snake, big animals or small. I just felt sorry for the animals , that they are caged for human entertainment in small set up. Banarghatta Bangalore in comparison has more space and freedom for these animals to move. Hope this can be fixed.

It is one of the must-visit places in Mysore. I loved the overall experience. It is a 2.8km walk for the whole tour. There are shelters and places to drink water in between so that you can take rest and continue. There is a restaurant as well.

Warning to car owners, there are many beggars and children in parking area who lean and scratch the car. Zoo is We'll maintained and various types of animals. If you go with kids, you have two options. Go walking, requires 3-4 hrs but kids get time to spot the animals ans enjoy. Else, take the electric vehicle that costs ₹150 per head and finish in an hour. In the electric vehicle you don't get your own time and have to see from vehicle most of the times. If you walk, you'll be tired but satisfied.

  • 5/5 Vishal K. 2 years ago on Google
Nice and clean zoo. We took the electric car which was costly and we went through entire zoo in around 1 hour. But someone can spend more than 4-5 hours hear easily

Its is one of the most visited places in mysore after chamundi hills and the royal palace so the crowd is usually on the higher side. Visited fee is 100 for adults and 50 for kids from age 5 - 12. The zoo is very well maintained and is stretched over a 3km path to witness the animals, birds and reptile. For people who have difficulty the zoo provides cart riding experience where a person diving a electric cart shows around the zoo. Has plenty of toilets and cafeteria and sitting spaces. Would recommend everyone to visit the place.

Nice place to visit. Only one time you can go and watch this. The main attraction white tiger and african elephant. Don't go afternoon time, because animals will be in a sleeping mode..!! Animals will rest in the other part of the cage,so you can't take good photos. There is very less shelters for people for if rain came. You can travel in zoo vehicle also they will explain, but I don't know the rate. Almost 2.5km we have to walk, but you can see good variety of spices. Entry fee- 100 for adult, 50 for kids

One of the most well maintained zoo I have ever seen. Unlike other zoo the animal are actually kept very near to you but within a glass house so that you can actually see and observe all there activities very clearly unlike other zoo where they keep so much distance between the public and animal for safety reason. Another beautiful thing was to have a filtered water tap and washroom Every 500mtr so that you don't have to take a stress while you are on the go. To enjoy the place I would recommend to go without taking the electric vehicle which is available on rent. They path and guiding arrows are really well planned and area is also not that big. It's only three km. Plus there are eateries inside. They also have an in house hospital for animal which was another unique thing to watch.

Good place to visit with children and family, children will surely get amazed by seeing all the different types of animals, birds and snakes. There is a place to park the vehicle just opposite to zoo. The entry fee is 100 rupees per adult. There are vehicles if you want to roam inside the zoo. Biggest in India. If you have elders and small kids try to go for a battery car ride, which is pricey but you can cover entire zoo in an hour. Also, you have few stop points which were mentioned during the boarding time by driver. But they give you ample time to watch the 🐵🐔🐶🐷. Definitely, by walking we can't cover the entire zoo for sure. Also, few wild animals tiger, cheetah, lion, white tiger and giraffe are there at starting and can cover by walk. After battery car ride we went to look at them again.

Mysore Zoo (Now Mysuru Zoo)(officially the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens) is a 157-acre (64 ha) zoo located near the palace in Mysore, India. It is one of the oldest and most popular zoos in India, and is home to a wide range of species (168).

The zoo is a treat to visit and a must visit when in Mysore.. They have huge variety of animals, birds, reptiles etc.. The entry fees is reasonable (considering the various types). You need to have 2-3 hours on a minimum side to experience the entire zoo.. Also they have Car ride facilities available if elders/kids need the same on additional charges. The zoo is spread over a very large area and one has to walk for approx 10 kms to have the entire strech covered. For relaxation there are adequate benches all over the zoo along with food and beverages as refreshments are available. The kids will just love the entire experience.

If you have a penchant for visiting zoos, you're gonna love Mysore Zoo. It is home to more than a thousand species of animals ranging from small birds to fearsome tigers. You're gonna need at least 3 hours if you want to see all there is to see in the zoo, but there's an electric vehicle you can rent to get around the compound more easily. Said to be only the zoo in India to have gorillas, Mysore Zoo is a must-see for visitors of all ages.

It's very good zoo where you can see almost every animal and it's a large one. We visited on weekend and weekends visit had extra charges. But this place is worth visiting. You will enjoy it. I loved watching lion and tiger and many different kinds of birds and animals. It has variety of snakes too.

The ticket price is high. It is well maintained, the enclosures are big and constructed in such a way that public are easily see the animals. I was a bit amazed at how open the lion enclosure was, the carnivore was barely 15 feet away with no steel net or glass in between us. The rhinoceros was so close you could touch it although nobody did. There is always a toilet and a RO purified water available nearby. There is a animal toy shop inside which had really good quality toys available but again priced a bit high. You could easily spend 3 hours here

One of the most well-kept zoos in India. Animal lovers and children will enjoy this place. Lot of animals and the zoo is very clean. Please be prepared to walk a lot - it is almost a 5 km walk from the entrance to the exit. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Also eat well before going, the only food court is available just before you reach the exit. There are water stations inside the zoo but you can’t buy snacks or cold drinks till you are almost finished with your visit. Weekends can be quite busy, so get there early and enjoy you visit to the Mysore Zoo.

The Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Zoo is a captivating blend of botanical gardens and a well-curated zoo, offering an enchanting experience for visitors of all ages. The diverse collection of plants and animals, the commitment to conservation, and the educational programs make it a worthwhile destination for nature enthusiasts and animal lovers alike. Despite the potential crowds, the zoo's immersive environment and the opportunity to connect with wildlife make it a memorable and rewarding outing.

Visited on a weekday afternoon and it was a little bit crowded. There is paid parking available on the opposite side of the main entrance and an underground passage will take you directly inside the zoo. Entry charges are Rs. 100 per head. It takes around 2 hours to cover the entire zoo on foot and requires a walk of around 2.5-3 km. Use the signboards and maps placed on the walkway to make sure you don't miss any section. Zoo premises are well maintained and there are several birds/animals present. For kids, it would be a treat to the eyes. I would recommend visiting in the morning hours to have the best experience. Carry an umbrella and water bottle to stay hydrated. There is a cafeteria towards the end for food and drinks.

Mysore Zoo, one of the best Zoo experiences. Variety of creatures, sizing from tiny to massive. The Ticket entry is just Rs.100 for adults and Rs.50 for kids. It is well worth it. The Food Court is a bit more expensive than what we're used to, yet the entire experience is a core memory.

In general, my visit to the zoo was quite enjoyable. However, the experience was slightly dampened by ongoing renovation and construction projects, which resulted in a number of enclosures being unoccupied. Also, it appears that the zoo's attention to proper maintenance may have waned over the years. I was hoping to see a variety of animals, but unfortunately, the absence of creatures in some enclosures was noticeable. Visited on: August 6,2023.

one of the popular destination in mysuru. fully streamlined and well planned zoo only issue was so much crowded sometimes animals are sleeping far away and we won't be able to see. we had to wait for longer to get the entrance tickets. rest rooms are not at all maintained main entrance is closed and we had to go via subway. car parking is really difficult had to go 1 km nearby and there is a scam for parking

Though the Zoo is relatively small. It is one of the well kept and well maintained Zoo. We hired a battery operated vehicle for touring. The wait time to get a vehicle was 45 minutes. We could have booked the vehicle online, didn't know it earlier. My daughter enjoyed it well.

Great one. The glass infrastructure was a good experience for the viewers. Unlike other zoo's we got to see the predators very near. We felt like there was no obstacles between them and us. Yea, there was glassed which are not clean. Hope they will take care of that.

One of the tourist attractions spot in Mysore apart from Mysore palace. During weekends it is very crowded. The zoo is very big. Almost all animals are there. Kids can enjoy their whole Sunday over there. Also the place is very greenery and eye soothing. A must visit place in Mysore.

I had visited many zoos but this is the biggest ever and has nearly all the famous bigger animals. I love it. It has also maintained so well as compared to others. If you will visit this then no need to visit another zoo.

An essential tip for visitors is to plan their visit excluding Tuesdays, as the Mysore zoo remains closed. The zoo is home to an astonishing array of bird species, such as colorful parrots, regal eagles, and unusual cranes,Sarus. For those who love birds, the aviaries offer a close-up look at these amazing creatures. Mysuru Zoo is a great place for individuals who are enthralled by exotic animals. The zoo exhibits a wide variety of species, including the majestic Bengal tigers, playful primates, leopards, lions, cheetahs, crocodile alligators, and elegant Indian elephants. Herbivores such as giraffes, hippopotamuses, deer, and rhinos etc Mysuru Zoo displays many fascinating snakes, including Indian pythons, cobras and vipers, giving visitors a fascinating glimpse of these elusive reptiles. The zoo's internal transportation ensures comfortable exploration of different habitats. Additionally, visitors can enjoy exciting wildlife experiences thanks to the availability of plush toys that capture the essence of their trip to the zoo. To get a taste of the local flair, the zoo has shops selling Mysore sandalwood products, allowing visitors to take home a piece of the region's rich culture. It was a very great experience, as we get to see many wild animals live, but also at the same time felt bad because so many birds were trying to break the cage and move into freedom. It is very good for kids to entertain them when in Mysore.

Wonderful experience especially if you are with kids. The animals look healthy and well taken care of though in captivity. However, the enclosures are big and give the animals a lot of space to move about. The electronic buggy shuttles make it easier to see the entire place for those who may have knee problems or maybe tired.

The best zoo's I've been to. Not only a wide variety of animals on display, but I could see the zoo was well maintained and animals were taken good care of. Recommend to go for electric golf cart ride if you have less time, with small kids or elderly. You'll need atleast 2-3 hours for a meaningful zoo visit here. p.s. pictures posted here don't do enough justice.

Really liked a long walk inside zoo with kids & family. You will not feel so much heat with plenty of trees & greenery covered around. Well planned entry & exit with subway right from parking space.

Luckily we went around 4pm which is a food time for animals where they are active at that time.

We went to the zoo during the Christmas holidays and it’s too crowded specially because of the school children who visited in large numbers and also general public on vacation. The zoo is maintained well despite the crowd they get. Only negative point I felt was it is understaffed to handle such a huge crowd. They could have put additional manpower at critical places to maintain order. Parking was also ample despite the no of visitors. I suggest everyone to carry a steel bottle so that you can fill the water for drinking. Though we took a small plastic water bottle the security asked us to dispose it before entering the zoo. Also it would be approx a 4 km walk so be prepared when you are carrying babies, a baby walker or stroller is a must otherwise it will be stressful. Avoid weekends and public holidays. Overall it was a good experience and kids enjoyed it.
