Very nice view of waterfall but mainly during rainy and winter season depending on rainfall. Good place to visit as one day trip from Bangalore. Place has small stalls for snacks. There's only one restaurant nearby with average food taste. Its an open space. So there's no ticket entry. Parking space is also arranged.

Very nice waterfalls. There are about 100 stairs down if you want a more closer look and also see the power plant on the left. Right now (October 2022), there is a lot of water and the falls look very majestic. This is the first time in 25yrs that we have seen the falls like this though we have never visited in monsoon before when people say it used to look similar. Watch out for monkeys, though they don't seem aggressive but don't have any food items in hand or large bags. Hope you find this information and the pictures useful.

Nature - 5 ⭐️ rating Government - 2⭐️ rating People/visitor - 3⭐️ rating F&B vendors - 4⭐️ rating OVERALL - 3.5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ✨ Good day trip from Bengalooru. If you leave early, its the best when there is less traffic and cool weather. You can reach there within 2.5 hours if you leave by 6am. The view point is pretty good. This is a very seasonal visit. Only when the rains 🌧 are good and the dams 🦫 are full, you can experience the sounds of nature with the water 💦 falling from a height of 90 metres and the refreshing splash of water to body. Best time to visit will be from May/June - Sept/October. Good place for family and friends visit. The area is dirty and kept clean by the local authorities. The vendors there are friendly. Ask them for local spots as well while you get yourself a drink or a bite. There are no restaurants and hotels close by. Just some snacks by local vendors. Make sure you plan for your tummy calls. There are no toilets 🚽 as well. So beware of your nature calls.

One of the best waterfalls i have recently been to. Known for its scenic beauty. It is Asia's first hydro power station. No entry fee. They have got ample space for car parking which is just 3 minutes walk from the view point. Nearby the view point, there is a KSTDC restaurant which serves good food.

Though when I went, water was quite less, and so it was not as mesmerizing as in some of other travelers photo, however view was still very nice. The best part is accessibility of the place. Vehicle goes till very end point, so even one of the Member in group with accessibility requirements could see it. Definitely worth a visit in Monsoon

No tickets required here. Very nice. Superb view and waterfall is this. Fabulous view. Your mind will get totally refreshed after seeing this fabulous mind blowing view for this waterfall. Try to complete it in daylight only. Avoid to go on late evening specially while there is no daylight and after sunset. The place is somewhat inside area so batter to cover it in day light at almost by 6.00pm and before.

Very beautiful falls, quite impressive. The viewing platform is small and can be very crowded. Unfortunately there is a lot of plastic around which is very sad for such a wonderful natural place. You can spend about 5-10 minutes here but it is a gorgeous drive through green fields and a nice diversion between Bangalore-Mysore.

Unbelievable experience due to mesmerizing scenic beauty of this place. This falls is one part of the famous Shivanasamudra. If you are traveling from Bangalore then you will be visiting first this Gaganachukki view point. From there if you want, you can visit the other part of the falls named Barachukki view point, around 14 km. Car parking is free here. Enough place to park your cars. Not much option of having food here. You will get small stalls of coconut water, yummy Sugarcane juice, ice cream etc. Just 100m from this water fall, there is a hotel called Hotel Lakshadeep Gaganachukki, where if you want you can stay and have mesmerizing view and you can also walk in to have decent food from their restruant. Be careful from monkeys. Overall nice place to enjoy your day out. Few things to note Currently some maintainance come construction works of stairs are going on in this Gaganachukki falls. If you are traveling with kids be mindful of this. Because of this coming down to the near of the falls might be challenging.

Just a perfect trip to go out with friends from Bangalore in a car. Depending on your experience, bike driving can be tiring. I visited this place in November, when the climate was just wow!! I don't remember buying any tickets. You don't have to stay at a place either. A perfect get away from bangalore. Just make a note that 1. You cannot reach the bottom of the waterfalls and 2. There's no boating as such possible. Visiting this place, IMO, is just for the ride and enjoy an hour of peace at the waterfalls.

It's not very far from Bangalore. You can visit the waterfall in one day and come back to the city. But I advise you not to go there in summer. I made a big mistake and visited the waterfall in July. The waterfall was almost dry but I liked the environment. There was a small supermarket to buy some snacks.

Such an awesome water falls. Goddess Cauvery river. Not far from Bangalore as well. East hangout with family on weekends. Roads are good for bike riders too. I request government to keep this place a little clean and less usage of plastic.

It’s a good place to visit. The view is good. But they have recently stopped people from taking bath near the waterfall. Government should create a space for more tourist attractions.

Beautiful waterfalls located at a good positive construction where the location is. Just brilliant. The waterfalls provides as the fresh look where it also provides with some snacks and beverages. The places little crowded in weekends. Their seems to be under construction. Things going on the best time to visit will be when there are heavy rains. Probably that will be good when in the winter season

Heaven...... One of the falls outside of Bangalore and Mysore. Best for people looking for a one day ride / drive from the city and enjoy a bit of pleasant time here. There's stairs that'll lead to the view point. I would suggest you to avoid weekends as it's usually crowded at times.

Great view and scenery. Visit on the weekends which is less crowded. Can view from the other side of the falls. Can spend the evening timings here, negative part is we cant bath here, nearby on the way there is a river where you can bath and relax there.

Good one day travel spot from Bangalore. Recommended to visit during monsoon season. 1. Entry - no entry ticket here 2. Parking - if you are visiting during non peak hours, you can park your vehicle closer to the falls view area. Otherwise they have a huge parking area 100mtrs ahead of the viewpoint. 3. View - there are multiple levels at which you can view the falls. People who have difficulty in climbing stairs, can view it from the parking area itself. Other can walk around 40 steps down to enjoy the waterfalls 4. Snacks - there are multiple snacks and juice shops at the parking lot. Keep cash in handy, as some of them don't accept online payment like UPI 5. Recommended Time - 30mins to 1 hr

Good place for a quick bike ride. There is nothing much to see. I recommend Mysore Road to this destination since the road are better when compared to Kanakpura Road.

Beautiful place to visit within 200 km from Bangalore.... good to visit during rainy season or just after that, to see good flow of waterfalls and greenery in the surroundings.... Can visit at any time in the day within 5 PM...

Scenic waterfall. It is best to visit during the monsoon seasons. No maintenance at all near the viewpoint. No security too. Construction work is in progress to improve the viewpoint. Lots of monkeys around.

Awesome experience, since I went during monsoon, waterfalls view was great! Full of greenary and road was good. Lots of monkeys, so be careful with food. Weekdays will be quite empty.

Magnificent views of cascading waterfalls. Parking available. Snacks and water bottles available. Lunch and stay available at nearby Lakshadweep Hotel. Beware of monkeys. Please note that the shape of the falls may not be the same as always and it’s mostly in full bloom during monsoon.

Great Weekend getaway, around 2+hr drive from bangalore. Visited last week and the water was getting to fill up the falls. Will be in full glory when there is more rain, nevertheless must visit. Chill and enjoy. Dont litter, ample parking space.

You can directly go there to enjoy the view of one of the beautiful waterfalls in Karnataka, near Bangalore. No one asks for any entry ticket. Ample of parking space is there. They are building the place to make more seating spaces for people to enjoy the view, may be once it's ready they will start charging some fees for entry ticket. It's a good one day tour from Bangalore or Mysore. Best time to visit is during monsoon when the falls is in full glory.

Good place to plan for a weekend trip but will be better when the time is monsoon 😊. It’s a beautiful waterfalls & in monsoon it should look heavenly. It’s close to 150 kms from Bangalore. You can drive via the Nice road. It has good viewpoint to watch the falls. There is ample parking available at this place & it’s free also. The parking is around 100-200 meters away from the view point.

It was fine. As the place is under construction 🚧, it was uncomfortable as well. There's a huge parking, and then from there you'll have to walk a half km, and down on stairs to see the fall. There are lots of food stalls, particularly I noticed that anything for which you pay let's say ₹20, here you'll have to pay rs 25. I suggest y'all to carry sufficient cash with you.

I have this special place for waterfalls in me that they amazes me to another level. If you stare at the photo, you can feel that the water is flowing down... 🌊 Gaganchukki and Barachukki waterfalls in Shiva Samudram, are about 125 km from Bengaluru, roughly a 2.5 hrs drive. The waterfalls are nice and i can guess that during the monsoon, the view and water flow would be much better and more pleasant to the eyes.

  • 4/5 Deepti Y. 7 months ago on Google
Waterfall was good, not much water though, but better than barachukki(shivsamundram). No ticket is required, ample parking space, enough place to take shade/cover during rain and direct Sun. Eateries are available including coconut water and sugarcane juice.

Beautiful but very little water flows here unlike earlier, so don't get upset. Also renovation is in progress, currently, but the site is still open.

For the best waterfall views, try to go to Barachukki and Gaganachukki Falls during the monsoon. The drive there is beautiful, filled with beautiful views and greenery. Try to leave early in the morning to feel refreshed and to avoid crowds at your destination as well as on the road.

Amazing waterfalls in southern Karnataka. The view from here is breathtaking! Better to visit here during monsoon time/rainy season to enjoy the full experience of the waterfall. This is a perfect place for a 1 day journey, you can come here to enjoy your weekend. This is a 3 hour journey from Bangalore, so I suggest you start by 5:30 in morning so you'll reach here before 9am, as it may get crowded. Also after this place, you can visit Barachuki falls which is 20mins from here. There is enough parking space, but beware of the monkeys and cows roaming around. The surroundings need slight clean-up, but it's manageable. Overall a wonderful experience, just come here and enjoy the majestic view! :)

Just amazing place, so serene and peaceful. Entry is free, there is usually less crowd even on weekends 😊 One can get instant photo near the water falls and it costs just ₹100. There is a restaurant 200 mtrs from the water falls. Best place for weekend getaway.
