A beautiful Hoysala era temple with the unique feature of having 5 Shivalingam in the temple. The temple caretaker can explain you some point about the interiors. It’s located opposite a big lake away from any town or village amidst farmland. There are no tickets and you will rarely find people and even more rarely any vehicles, didn’t find any shops or public transport to the place directly, own vehicle should be preferred and can be parked outside the compound gate on the road. The interiors are dimly lit but the place was still kept well maintained.

Among all the Hoysala temples , Govindanahalli’s Panchalinga Temple in Mandya District, is very UNIQUE because it has FIVE sanctums , all of which are in a long line , opening into a common pillared hall and all facing east . The hall has two porched entrances . The outer walls have small and not too many sculptures , in addition to aedicules and a few pierced ( jaali) windows all making for a very neat appearance . The temple was built in the 13th Century, during Veera Someshwara’s reign . The protected monument is maintained well , and there was a recent round of renovation too .

Reached here at 5:10 in the evening, the temple's premises gate was locked, felt like some sorta loss. When asked to local passer by he said temple remains open till 7 in the evening usually, may be the caretaker has gone somewhere. I think this has happened due to scarce footfall, less knowledge of the place to people, bad condition of approach road from main road (CR pete- KR pete road). However the approach road is now being repaired. The temple is situated in a calm and serene place surrounded by agri farms and a beautiful lake in front.

Panchalingeswara Temple at Govindanahalli: Only Surviving Panchakuta temple from Hoysala era This 13th century temple is one of the rare surviving Panchakuta temples from the Hoysala era. The famous sculptor, Ruvari Mallitamma, is known to have made contributions to this temple. Unlike other Hoysala temples, this temple is built directly on the ground without the pedestal and its outer walls are fairly simple and it does not have edge to edge carvings like the other Hoysala temples. There are carvings and sculptures, but not a whole lot.

Beautiful Ancient temple, the guide is retired government official and he is very knowledgeable and humble.... Must visit once.... Light is a issue there due to regular power cuts... But worth going once

This is also one of the showcase of architecture of Hoysala Dynasty. Where 3 temples are nearby , one is lakshminarayan temple hosaholalu, Brahmeshwra temple kikkeri and another is this one. Like Brahma Vishnu Maheswara are close to each other . The architecture is more similar to Belur and Halebidu.

Just marvelous! Understand the temple was a masterpiece construction during the reign of Hoysalas in 1238 AD. One can see five lingams with unique shape and size with 5 Basavanna opp each lingam. The inside structure is so beautiful. But for the electricity or lighting issues we couldn't do justice in spending time to see around and enjoy. The outside structure of the temple is just superb and magnificent. The sculptor Ruvari Mallittamma has contributed his masterpiece and left behind to us such a wonderful architecture that remains in one's heart and mind. One can easily spend couple hours in the serene peaceful environment... would say just don't miss... the guide here who's available till 5p (week ends) did his best to take around and explain the history... please note there is no worship or puja to the deities here since there's some destruction and damage caused to the deities and the structure...it's really unfortunate..

Very quite and peaceful temple. One can visit explore the temples. The carving are typical hoysala style. The temple most of the times not crowded at all. I am not sure on the festivals and other special occasions. The roads which leads to is through a village narrow road. Anyone in the village will guide you if think of going in the wrong way.

Around 4 kilometres from Kikkeri temple town. According to the guide, this is the last Hoysala temple to be built. This temple complex has 5 temples adjacent to each other connected with one single hall. Though from the front, it looks like 2 adjoining temples, at the rear, you can see 5 different gopuras which are connected to each other in a row.

temple renowned for its unique Hoysala architecture, which cannot be found anywhere else. There is a person named Rangappa who will guide you in and out. There is no entry fee to visit this tranquil temple, making it a perfect place to spend a peaceful evening. However, it is disheartening to note that some of the sculptures are missing. It is high time for the authorities to wake up and take necessary measures to protect these invaluable cultural heritage sites.

Astonishing Temple with such a rich history, I was amazed to see how the temple is built with such elegant and detailed sculptures. There was a guide who helped us understand the past and the significance of the Temple. The temple has 5 Shivling with each having its own Nandi Maharaj's. It's really a marvel to experience such history. The temple is really maintained well and neat with a lovely garden surrounding it's premises.

Huge temple with magnificent architecture which was constructed 900 years ago. Place is maintained well and neat. It’s a must visit for someone who likes to experience old architecture. Temple has numerous pillars inside which only adds to the marvellous beauty of the structure. There was 0 crowd during the weekend which added to serenity and quietness inside the temple was soothing. Gentleman who was guarding the temple was kind to elaborate the history and showed each deities. Appreciate his interests.
