Overall, I do recommend this Romanian Naval Museum. However, there are some cons, along with the pros. Pros: - Quality displays representing the history of the Romanian Navy - Decently priced entry - Open on Sunday Cons: - You must pay an extra $5 if you want to take photos (cell phone or otherwise) - Staff aren’t especially friendly - The displays aren’t well labeled - Quite warm inside, perhaps it was due to the humidifiers? Unsure. But bring some water - Nothing interactive, so not much fun for the under 15 crowd

Very dissapointedd because the tvs from rooms didn’t work. It was explained to me that the tvs are working only for special occasions, like “the night of museums” or organized events. So, today I didn’t feel that I deserved to get as much as possible from my visit in your museum. The audio guide didn’t work either, only if I was listening from the beginning, without skipping rooms. The fee for the audio guide wasn’t reimbursed, very strange!!! I have news for you , contact the museum of Miercurea Ciuc and find out how for them is not difficult to have all the tvs ( monitors) on during the day for all the visitors. The shop assistant who sold us the tickets can take a holiday, she wasn’t very friendly or customer oriented, she may need a holiday or a pill of kindness! We, the visitors deserve to get as much as possible from a visit, we paid a ticket and even if the price for the ticket is smaller than a movie’s ticket, the time we spent during the visit doesn’t return! Please help any visitor who is stepping in your museum to have a wonderful time, not a mediocre experience.

Many scaled ship models and some real size ones, many objects used in navigation, uniforms and costumes, maps, objects discovered under the sea or in ports, from different centuries. The temporary expo of scaled ship model collections, miniatures and dioramas was amazing. Outside expo displays real 20th century ships and ship components. All exhibits are described in Romanian, English and French. Free entrance on Marine's day (August 15th) and free guided tour by volunteers of the Romanian Scouts.

The Navy Museum is a must place to be visited in Constanta. An impressive collection of navy stuff, including small models of ships, navy uniforms, etc. Recently renovated with modern room spaces that hosts many events.

Great museum to visit to better understand the Romanian navy history and origins. A lot of artefacts and big artillery pieces in the outdoor park. Wish they were labeled a tad better and more consistent. If you come with young kids it may be a bit too much for them. If you are passions about history and maritime technology is a great place to visit. Wish that the team of the museum keeps up the great work.

Another reminder that Romania has nice things but we don't care about them. A lot of interesting history and artefacts. Very little to no context.

Nice museum explaining the naval history of Romania through treasures, maps, various objects and many ship replica models. I appreciated the effort to translate the descriptions in french but as a side note, there are so many mistakes it doesn't look serious... One should review those, any student in Constanța could do the job

Interesting museum that opens your eyes on how much we spend on armaments. Entrance is cheap but you have to pay almost three times as much if you want to take pictures, that's pretty weird.

  • 5/5 Eric V. 2 years ago on Google
Has a lot more than I expected. Be weary of its closing time.

  • 5/5 Iustin M. 2 years ago on Google
Great experience, the descriptions of the items is in 3 languages (Romanian,English,French) which is quite neat. The personnel is friendly, the downside is that you have to pay in order to take a photo!

  • 5/5 Catalin P. 2 years ago on Google
Definitely a must see! We were impressed by the variety of naval machetes. You will find a good amount of information there and even archeological artefacts dating thousands years back. The visit can take more than one hour if you pay attention to every detail but can be also rushed in 30 minutes if you have by yourself a 5 years old kid that is amazed by each next ship :). The building seems to be in a good shape and clean, there's no facility for disabled persons and we couldn't find some parking lots nearby. If you want to take photos you'll need to pay an additional fee so make sure you ask about that at the entrance. All in all I think it was the best place to visit in Constanta between(zoo, Roman mosaics and the aquarium).

  • 5/5 Teodor S. 7 months ago on Google
This museum is Huge and very well maintained and curated. Lots of rooms with lots of items, ship models, pieces of actual boats, actual boat deck fragments, suits and character displays, marine technology, torpedoes, lighthouse lenses, documents, etc. A yard with real anchors, actual war ships parked in a pool, ship guns, engines, etc. You need at least 2 hours for a very shallow and speeding run through it, half a day to understand something from it, and well over a week to get lost in the mountain of details. It's a world class museum by any standards. Definitely worth a long visit or even multiple visits.

I recently visited The Museum of Romanian Navy and found it to be a clean and tidy place, although it was unfortunately not very crowded during my visit. There was an abundance of things to learn about, and I appreciated that the names of the exhibited objects were provided in Romanian, French, and English. However, I did notice that some artifacts and displayed objects lacked detailed descriptions, which could have enhanced the overall experience for visitors. In addition to these positives, I observed that a few of the displayed ships at The Museum of Romanian Navy were not well-preserved, with some showing signs of wear and broken parts. While the museum provides a rich learning experience, addressing the maintenance and preservation of these artifacts could significantly contribute to a more immersive and engaging visit for all attendees.

  • 4/5 Ana Maria B. 7 months ago on Google
A surprisingly interesting museum, even for someone like me, who's not really passionate about ships and the navy. I really enjoyed the visit, there was plenty to see. The only issue was that I felt like some of the exhibits could have used more explanations and context, I had to google a lot of things. Most of the descriptions were in Romanian, English and French, so you can visit even if you don't speak Romanian. You can pay by card for the tickets.

A large and very well equipped museum. The entrance price is 10 lei per person, in order to be able to take a photo, an additional fee must be paid, be careful, it is taken without a flash, because I saw that some people complained that they were not allowed to take pictures. Do not go near the end of the program because the museum is big and takes quite a long time to visit ..and then you complain again that I will not receive you ....

Big collection of navy stuff and quite diverse. Unfortunately a big minus the lack explanations in such a museum with lots of navy specific terms and equipments. And no one around to ask since agressively posts with "do not touch" instead of supervisors are all around.

Very nice place and wonderful models inside. Walk around outside and look at ships. AC wasn't on because of the Covid 19 so dress light.

  • 4/5 Florin P. 3 years ago on Google
Teaches you some general Romanian history, going into the marine side only from the middle ages onwards. While the Romanian navy wasn't that important in the international space, it's still fun to see replicas of the boats used in the last 3 centuries. They also showcase lighthouse equipment, weaponry, boat propellers and engines, water mines, etc. There are occasional model boat competitions or expos held here. If you have the luck to get here on one of those days, ask the staff if they let you see that part too (which is sometimes closed from the rest of the museum). Sad thing is you have to pay an extra tax to take photos, which I find very backwards in our times.

The museum is ok. It could be more interactive. You can't get in the boats that are exposed outside.

  • 3/5 Mladin D. 4 years ago on Google
Interesting but not impressive. Very few ancient and medieval ships models. It looks verry little changes from the comunist perspective of our (naval) history. Of course no interactivity in a 80's museum style. Taking photos upon a high tariff only. Recommended for children eventually. No parking for your car.
