(Translated by Google) The building, with almost 2,000 square meters of mosaic, built in the 4th century, probably under the reign of Emperor Constantine the Great, instead of previous port buildings, was repaired at various stages until the beginning of the seventh century, when ends its existence with the departure of the ancient city of Tomis, after the great ravages. Located on the western cliff, above the modern harbor, the edifice comprised three terraces and connected the level of the city with that of the ancient harbor. Terrace A represents the level of ancient living. Mosaic pavement hall, 100 m long and 20 m wide, had an initial area of 2,000 square meters, probably covered in Antiquity, with a large vault supported by pillars, and is on terrace B. From this hall, there is more retains part of the long wall, one of the side walls and especially a portion of 850 square meters. from the floor, enough to deduce what the great port construction looked like. The first presents an ordinance of open arcades towards the sea, being entirely covered with a white and polychrome marble plywood. The columns of the arches were decorated with beautiful capitals decorated with acanthus leaves and zoomorphic or anthropomorphic figures in the center. Terrace C is the level of the warehouse-rooms (11 vaulted rooms). At the same level, in the continuation of the edifice, there are a number of rooms that served as workshops. Terrace D represents the level of other warehouses for the storage of goods, located just in front of the docks of the ancient port. It is currently below sea level. The connection between the terraces was made by a ladder with wide and high steps of limestone.

(Translated by Google) A little disappointing to see that it is the same state as 35 years ago, when filming BD on the mountain and the sea. Not much changed, although what was in this space has a beautiful history. The staff is very friendly and I had some remarkable explanations after I asked a question.

(Translated by Google) Misery and disinterest! Windows that have not been cleaned for decades ... Very little information ... possibly for a fee. The Bulgarians have been able to present the remains of which they are proud: perfect cleanliness and information in modern forms of presentation. Shame for fat carelessness!

An absolute disgrace the total disregard for this beautiful piece of mozaic! There is absolutely no excuse for the filthy state of the place. Nobody cares. Disgrace, the state is in.. Such a shame.

(Translated by Google) I really think a lot about how to tell the museum of Roman mosaics. The historical artifacts are enormous and very special. He reminded me of the museum of the Great Palace Mosaics just below the Sultan Ahmet Mosque in Istanbul. But the price to be paid from the entrance and even the ticket was a problem. I think this place is unfortunately not much visited, and the staff are not very helpful. The building is quite ruinous and deranged from the Soviet period. it can only be entered to see the structure of this building. But the interior works deserve a better presentation. There is a gigantic mosaic, which is a very rare work that covers the ground with that size. I say get ready to be disappointed.

Very impressive excavations showing floor mosaics in various colours from the period of the Roman empire. The mosaic pavement was made in the 4th century AD. The ancient city was called Tomis. Toilets in the museum next to, a souvenir shop and cafe there as well.

The place is degraded, the mosaic tiles have lost colour and the experience overall is disappointingly looking like the Communist era. However, there is great potential for rebuilding the original Roman era terrace or at least reconstructing the mosaic.

This is a quite spectacular Roman building and mosaic in the old town area of Constanta. Sadly, just like the National History Museum that it is part of and which is located next door, it is sadly neglected and uninspired as a museum. Little is made of the long history of the city, of its cultural and historic significance, And it’s a real pity. I would love to see this exhibit a bit modernized and more loved. There is zero advertising for this interesting exhibit in the city, if you do not know what you’re looking for you can barely figure out that it’s there.

Great place to be, if you love ancient history, art, roman period and ancient Rome design. Worth getting there. A makeover? Perhaps they need, but with such cheap tickets and no donations it is very hard to think on a make-over. Keep up the good work.

It is obviously interesting, however, the building it is housed in needs a makeover. There appears to be other Roman structures outside the building which are not yet viewable. They need to spend some cash and improve the facilities. But as far as massive roman Mozaics go, it's a beut!

(Translated by Google) A "piece of" history more than national, of international interest! It is a pity that it is not supported by the administration enough (the staff can have goodwill and can be organized, but without proper financial support it's a little hard ...). (Translated by Google) The Roman mosaic in the port of Constanța is covered and is trying to reconstruct it with degraded portions and the chromaticism very affected by the discovery ... I am optimistic and I am convinced that the efforts of the specialists will restore the initial beauty ... My attempts to accentuate the colors cannot be considered as successful ... anyway, the mosaic has a native beauty and deserves to be watched by a lover of ancient history ...
