The
Royal
Palace
in
Mamaia
hides
more
history
than
any
of
the
official
buildings
outside
Bucharest.
Once
upon
a
time,
each
room
had
different
colors
for
the
curtains,
vintage
glassware
and
furniture
(in
the
salons
of
King
Ferdinand,
the
best
quality
Biedermaier
style
dominated).
The
walls
were
covered
with
old,
English,
linen
tapestries
and,
in
particular,
with
the
impressive
collection
of
watercolors
of
Empress
Maria
of
Russia,
wife
of
Tsar
Alexander
II
and
grandmother
of
Queen
Maria.
The
rooms
were
dominated
by
Venetian
blue
and
white
porcelain
dishes,
Dutch
terracotta
stoves,
simple
old
Italian
furniture
and
the
huge
living
room
opened
onto
the
balcony
from
which,
at
the
time,
you
could
see
the
sea.
"Kara
Dalga"
opened
onto
a
large
park,
with
mowed
lawn
and
rose
bushes,
where
reigned
a
pool
of
fresh
water,
captured
from
Siutghiol,
a
fountain
and
many
stone
alleys,
the
works
of
Italian
architects
Antonio
Moraldo
and
Carlo
Actis.
The
building
originally
had
35
rooms:
16
in
the
basement,
12
on
the
ground
floor
and
7
in
the
attic,
along
with
the
service
rooms
