Went to have a quick lunch, tired from exploring the walled city, but boy we ended up staying for more than an hour, lol. The ambiance was very nice, and the food were really good as expected. Staffs were also courteous and attentive. Would definitely go back again.

The atmosphere and service was excellent. Quiet space inside the walls with great deco in the cafe. The food was good. Not the very best Spanish but have no complaints.

Entrance a bit bottled neck. Need to take stairs to first level. A bit dark. There are old pantings at the wall. The tables are nicely decorated. Buffet styles. Spanish theme dinner. The appetiser is a bit bitter. Spaghetti, seafood, chicken, curry lamb are nice. The fruits and dessert are also nice. Asked ice cubes twice before served.

A bit pricey but the food is still good. We were served with an undercooked paella the last time. I love the sampaguita ice cream 🍨Booking a table is recommended, and there is free parking inside their premises.

The llustrados were the Filipino educated class during the Spanish colonial period in the late 19th century. To that end this restaurant feels like a fine place that many educated folks would murmur about the inequities of society while enjoying a heavenly meal together! I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend anyone who can to try this place out. The deserts are divine and the food beyond delicious! One can easily work up an appetite with everything that Intramuros has to offer! So should you find yourself nearby treat yourself to a wonderful time

This restaurant, located in the back of a beautiful courtyard, is a great way to eat fresh and tasty food in a delightful atmosphere. The menu is interesting, the staff was nice and the atmosphere was quite unique for the Philippines. I recommend booking on busy days. There is a small terrace and parking area within the courtyard, so it's quite practical.

Spanish dish with a flair for history. A must-try is their Paella Ilustrado🥘. The restaurant brings you back to the days of the Spanish era. The staffs are attentive to our needs. I will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Illustrado continues to be the most romantic fine dining in central Old Manila. Beautifully located in Intramuros, they maintain a high degree of service and quality in their offerings. Spanish - Filipino, they prepare with the best ingredients and have highly trained, knowledgable and truly professional service staff, something of a rarity in Manila these days. For that truly special night, dinner at Illustrado followed by a romantic stroll in the old city can't be beat. The only drawback are the customers who would prefer to watch videos or loudly play games on their cell phones like they were in Jollibee, completly oblivious to the experience. Here is to hoping Ilustrado steps up their game and finally imposes a silent phone rule.

A little pricy but the quality of the food is great! I really enjoyed the many Filipino historical photos hanging on the wall. The AC was a welcome relief from the hot humidity!

It's a nice place for dining. Food is nice. Longanisa is the salty one. Maybe can also provide the sweet choice as well but sorry the coffee was very bad. You need to invest in a simple coffee machine.

Great ambiance, located inside Intramuros. Food is great though pricey, for sharing or good for 2 persons. They have a holding area while waiting. Following safety protocols.

Ambiance and overall feel of the place brings you back to the spanish era ❤️ Service was good and staff were nice, serving size could be improved but the food was good. Parking entrance is a bit hard to find but has a lot of parking spaces. Its inside intramuros so if you are touring inside intramuros you could definitely stop by here for Lunch.

This place may have been considered a fine dining restaurant many years ago. But at present, it's barely one and in fact the place is so ordinary that the price of the food is absolutely not worth it. Paella here costs P800 to P900 but you can get something better and tastier from say, Barcino or Alba. There's absolutely no fine dining ambience nor experience worth spending for. The place is dark but not that rustic old kind of dark. The service was lousy. The waiters there are too "veteran" such that everything they do is just run of the mill. You have to ask for water, tissue, etc. There's no table setting at all. No cloth napkins. Parking is a problem too. There's street parking but you have to pay P50 to the street dwellers or else... No reason to come back. There's absolutely no attraction for balikbayans nor tourists. Might as well take them to Dampa for seafood or those 5-star hotels at the bay area.

This is a well hidden gem in Manila. The food was fantastic and the live music was steller. I would highly recommend the desserts. The flan was very tasty! We enjoyed the music and ambiance so much, we decided to sit back and enjoy a bottle of red while listening to the trio to finish off our night. Will be coming back any time we are in Manila!

Probably the best restaurant in Intramuros and definitely a contender for top restaurants in Manila. Absolutely delicious Filipino and Spanish food, everything we had was good, paella, eggplant, and fried chicken dishes were stand-outs for me. Drinks were good as well, definitely recommend the mango daiquiri, they have a very wide range of cocktails which is always good. Service was great and atmosphere has a very old Manila vibe (seeing as it is in Intramuros) which was wonderful. For the taste and quality of the food, everything was fairly priced, I would 100% recommend this restaurant if you are around the area. They also have their own parking lot next to the restaurant which is great as Intramuros can be a hard place to find parking. Overall, this restaurant is amazing and definitely lives up to and deserves all of its many rewards. Would definitely recommend you try it if you can!

Had a memorable dinner with my friends. We were serenaded by the three uncles while eating their famous paella. We had beef with it and to balance the tasty paella and beef, we added cheese croquet. For dessert, we satisfied our sweet tooth frozen brazo de mercedes which is actually a slice of brazo de mercedes on top of cheesecake, and its infamous sampaguita ice cream. First taste of the ice cream and i was brought back a memory of my childhood in the province with my cousins, with us stringing together sampaguita flowers for Mama Mary. Another taste brought memories of elementary graduation. It also felt like i just got out from the church😅. I want to commend their staff who are all all polite and accommodating.

A hidden restaurant in the heart of the walled city of Intramuros Manila. Only locals and well traveled foreigners grace this place. They are a traditional Spanish restaurant with great gambas and paellas. The ambiance is the old rich Spanish villas and very traditional dining experience. A place to relax and unwind in the bustling city of Manila. There is a in house sampaguita ice cream which is a speciality of this restaurant. Very nice for second and third dates.

Came here on my own and was hoping to have the famous paella, however it is a big portion (according to the waiter, for 2 ppl) and the wait was around 35 minutes. Decided to have grilled calamari salad with a side of pork & tofu bakwa't and both dishes didn't disappoint! The salad dressing was tangy and citrusy, and the pork & tofu so crispy!

The place is incredible. It is situated in the middle of Intramuros and you can really feel the old Manila vibes with the wooden flooring, windows, and structure of the place. The food, awesome! Their paella was to die for! We really loved the Filipino-Spanish cuisine. The wait was long but when the food arrived, it was all worth it! Their dinner roll, which we took home two packs, was the best dinner roll we've eaten! And their chocolate cake, which we ordered for our child companion, was delicious; we all took a bite! In terms of the service, it's impeccable! It is our first time eating here and the staff accommodated us despite the fact we didn't have any reservation. They were friendly and fun throughout the service. During our check-out, they forgot to punch-in the discount in our bill so they gave us a free slice of cake. We truly appreciated the gesture because their chocolate cake is so good.

Definitive place to experience old-world, Spanish Filipino charm and cuisine. At the very least the paella they serve has proper soccarat, which many restaurants fail at providing. It is inconvenient to get to and get out of, but it's a destination worth going out of one's way for. I should go here more often than the odd wedding reception I get invited to.

If it's antique and classic look for a restaurant, this place is good for you. Food is great. Ambiance is like living in the Spanish times. The place was built long time ago. Probably this was an old house converted to a restaurant. There are a few parking slots.

Over priced meaning serving is only good for 1 person and the taste is not worthy of the price, paella is over seasoned, seafood are very low quality. The place looks elegant but there's a lot of mosquitos. I left the place with 8 mosquito bites. We waited for our food for an hour. Waiters are not accommodating and snobbish.

Went to inquire for event venue on a tuesday. The lady who assisted me was fairly accommodating. She showed me around and got my details and i was told that i will be emailed the quotation and particulars within the day. Followed up on wednesday because i hadn't received anything, and was asked for details again because it was a different person i spoke with on tuesday. It's already friday night and still no response. Other venues i've inquired gave a response within 48 hours. So makes me wonder if this is really how they operate and if it is a preview of what kind of service that could happen for the event itself...

One of the best meal you could get in Manila We order a Gumbas Al Ajillo, Morcon Plaridel and coffees for drink. The morcon is made in beef tenderloin and it was perfect. The beef wasn't over cooked and make a perfect match with their sauce The Gumbas (prawn) is fresh and didn't have any fishy taste. The sauce is a little bit sour and make a great match with the prawn

Illustrado is located in the historic old quarter of Intramuros Manila. We sat outside under a tented area. We ordered the Kambing (goat) kaldereta, kare kare, paella illustrado, and rellenong bangus (stuffed milkfish). Unfortunately none of the dishes had much flavor to them. My 3 stars indicates they were ok, not bad, nothing special or memorable. The paella was especially disappointing since it seems to be the signature dish. The amount of seafood was lacking, no clams/mussels or squid, less than a handful of bay scallops, and 2 prawns. Take the disappointment from the paella and just apply to the other dishes. Expectations were higher but not unrealistic. Not worth it and would not recommend.

Had a great Friday night dinner at this place! Food is a bit pricey but the ambiance and the service more than make up for it. Dining staff is attentive and pleasant to talk to. The whole experience is personalized and they were nice enough to accommodate the flowers I ordered for my girlfriend when it came hours earlier than our reservation. Portions are good and very delicious! Selection is good so whether you're looking for Filipino, Spanish, or Western cuisine, they all have it here. Bagnet Sinigang and their Spanish chorizo is highly recommended. Ambiance is really noteworthy as the main dining area is quite small so it gives the sense of home dining. A three-man band also delighted diners including ourselves with some music as we enjoyed our meal.

A very good choice for fine dining or simply hanging out. Spanish food is superb and cooked to almost perfection. Paella is a must have. The rustic interiors of the building provides a cozy and romantic ambience for couples' dates, family gathering or business meetings. The staff are equally hospitable and the kind that knows the job they are doing. When asked for a recommended recipe they would gladly share what's in the menu that they know best. The price is reasonable for a good dining place.

We recently had a wedding catered by Illustrado for 200 pax at a high cost. When we had our taste test a week before and discussed the design details for the wedding, it seemed like the Illustrado rep understood all the details. We even exchanged numbers so we can communicate. During the wedding there were details on the table settings and overall stage design that they did not follow and worse they never called our attention to the changes. What disrespect to their client. The food was also served cold and not hot and freshly cooked. The lamp heaters on the chafers were not lit so even the Buffet food was cold. The waiters were very attentive and service was effecient. But overall Illustrado Catering failed in fulfilling their promises.

Haven't tasted the food in their regular menu. What we tasted was the food for their wedding packages. Went there for food tasting of my bestfriend's wedding. It was all delicious. From their appetizer, to to pasta and main dishes up to desserts. My favorite part was munching the desserts. 🥰 looking forward to their regular/filipino-spanish dishes served in their restaurant. *Need ng reservation pag kakain sa ilustrado mismo.

(Translated by Google) Filipino cuisine is reasonably priced at around 700-1000 yen and very delicious. The interior is also very beautiful. I went there at night but with live music. The service of the clerk is also good. I only ordered a la carte, but the bread and appetizers came while I was watching the menu. I'm quite full. The stewed tongue dish called Lengua con setas was very soft and delicious. It is right next to the tourist area and if you ever come to Manila you will want to eat dinner here again. This is a restaurant in the old walled city of Intramuros. It's a restaurant that is popular for wedding receptions, debutante parties and other events. They have a garden area where you can eat al fresco. They serve popular Filipino food and other continental favourites. There's a good sized parking area inside and there's also a store that sells arts and crafts.

We had a late lunch yesterday at Ilustrado and ordered Paella Ilustrado, Beef Salpicao, Callos, Sinigang sa Miso, Kare-Kare and the Jamon Serrano for starters. Dessert for us were Carrot Cake, Dark Chocolate Cake and Sans Rival. The place and the food live up to its name as always. It brought back nostalgic memories of Intramuros as well during my Mapua years.

The lady at the reception refuses to let you stay inside the restaurant while waiting for your reservation and did not even offer the waiting area inside. She likes you to fry in the sweltering heat and having a full view of their unsightly, dusty, dirty facade. It looks like a visit to an old place reeking with mothball memories and ghosts with its creaking floors. The food's a so so, even their best selling paella. To the lady who fronted the reception last Sunday, you have no business to be in the F&B business.

Established in 1989, it was originally offered as a bed and breakfast place but the Pimentel family decided to focus on starting their own restaurant. Good thing they did because it's been a success for almost three decades. This December they are offering several dishes and desserts perfect for the season. DIP: My favorite was boursin cheese but the rest are still good and perfect for gift or giveaway. Spicy cheeseball (Php 220, 4oz), Duck & chicken liver pate, Boursin cheese (Php 165, 4oz), Cheese pimiento spread (Php 175, 4oz) & Butter. MAIN: Paella Ilustrado (Php 1,295) one of the best paellas I've ever tried. It was flavorful and moist that it was just a meal on it's own. Seafood was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Twice Cooked Angus Beef Shortplate (Php 2,200) my 2nd favorite savory dish. It was flavorsome, juicy and tender. I enjoyed every bite. Adobong Bagnet with Taba ng Talangka (Php 1,500) you can taste the talangka and the crunchiness of bagnet worked well with each other. Callos Madrilena (Php 1,380) flavorful dish that reminds me of my grandma’s cooking. DESSERTS: CHEESECAKE! (Price kindly ask them) Ibang klase cream cheese na cream cheese. They used the best quality ingredients and it's highly recommended. It's the best cheesecake i've tried also. BROWNIES are for sale box of 15. It was so soft and moist. Just divine. Sarap din! Peanut Butter (Php 145) S'mores Brownies, Salted Caramel Pretzel Brownies or Trio Assorted (Php 125) COOKIES for 3 oz cookies. It was all good. I could munch on them all day long. But the matcha taste on their Matcha Chocolate chip walnut cookies wasn't noticeable. Banana Walnut Chocolate chip cookies & Chocolate chip Appledoodles (Php 65) Double Chocolate coconut cookies, Matcha Chocolate chip walnut cookies & Red Velvet white chocolate chip crinkles (Php 80 per flavor)

Its good to be back in Intramuros. So much have change since my last visit. I was able to drop by early here in Intramuros to have a 8 Course degustation lunch in Ilustrado. Thanks EJ B. for extending the invite to us. So Ilustrado is now celebrating its 29th Anniversary. Wow I always remember this place since I have attended a few wedding reception here. This wedding stick to my mind because of how classy and Filipino the reception is. For this year anniversary they are having 8 course degustation menu for PHP1,250+. This menu that Chef Bernice crafted is her take on a very millennial way of attacking Filipino dishes. I like this idea because when you think of Ilustrado its not the place you would think the Millennial generation to have a meal. First thing that come to your mind when its Ilustrado is your Dad or Mom kind of place. But with this its Ilustrado way of saying to the people we are swak for any generation. So here are the 8 dish included in the menu: 🔅Kangkong Pesto Brioche served with Boursin Cheese - at 1st look I thought it was malunggay pandesal hehe. But after having one of this brioche I was completely wow with it and can't stop munching more of it. The brioche was perfect rich and I love the pesto flavor of it. The boursin cheese is an added bonus that gave it more flavor. 🔅Kesong Puti Croquttes at Lato (175PHP)- this is one of the dish that look super classy but when you see the ingredient it's very Filipino. Love the kesong puti turned into a croquettes ball goes perfectly with the lato. 🔅Oyster Laing Rockefeller (195PHP)- one of my fave in the menu. Never imagined that my fave bicol laing will go so well with oyster. Its so good. A little squeeze of lemon to make it perfect! 🔅Sayote Egg Drop Soup (125PHP)- look so plain but at the bottom of the soup is the quail egg drop. Your typical creamy sayote soup with the kick of the quail egg. 🔅Burong Mangga Sorbet - this one is the palate cleanser to prepare us for the main dishes. Refreshingly sour. It like having a spoon of green mango shake. 🔅BBQ Pulled Pork Tostadas (215PHP)- this dish felt like influenced by mexican. Fried tortilla topped by BBQ marinade pulled pork with a layer of monggo and topped again with papaya slaw. This is perfectly eaten with a bite of everything at once. Love the crunchy texture with the different contrasting flavor of the ingredient. So simple yet so good! 🔅Sea Bass Sinantol (350PHP)- another bicol dish incorporated in their menu. This time the sinantol. Another fave bicol dish of mine. The sea bass was perfectly cooked and I love that the one served to me was the one with bit of fat. Love it! The sinantol gave it a bit of sour flavor which is again amazingly goes well with the sea bass flavor. Already craving for more of this. 🔅Egg Pie Brulee (175PHP)- never thought of doing that. Giving your classic egg pie a sweet caramelized sugar on top. Great way to end the meal. **Price indicated are if you order the dish instead of the course meal Overall for 1250+ this is a great deal. You have a great place, service and awesome gastronomic journey. Available for the whole month of October.

The food was good, but the prices were a bit high and they only served bottled water (which we had to pay for). They could also do some maintenance to the restaurant to make it look more presentable in my opinion. Good experience either way.

Had our Pre-Wedding, pamamanhikan dinner with the family of my bride to be and my family. Not a good idea for big group bookings. Reserved a long table for 22pax. Ended up spending about Php18,000 because we saw how small the servings are. Parang tinipid kami. And still we left unsatisfied and stomach not full. Servings are too small for the price paid. No pitcher drinks. Mineral water is Php60 per bottle. No service water. I think dishes are overpriced and tasted average. Please dont order the sampaguita ice cream. Tastes and smells like funeral. Customer service and hospitality is the only thing thats good. Not a place you will return for more.

Reasonably tasty food, but maybe not for value. We had an event here. Paid 1,000 per head for buffet- beef calderera, fried vegetable lumpia, sotanghon, fried fish fillet (pangasus), white rice, 1 ice tea, cream puff, coffee jelly. All tasted good. But they ran out of certain items at some point. So no refill.

Famous - though I don't know why I've been here a couple times and know it is much liked by the elite, but each time I have walked away with just a mediocre experience. If you are not an expert in Filipino cuisine and just visiting Intramuros for the day, better to go to Barbara's to try the buffet of Filipino cuisine rather than hoping to make the right pick off the Illustrado menu.

Excellent atmosphere and great service. I ordered a Paella Ilustrado and a Sampaguita Ice Cream. Portion sizes were generous, and generally matching the higher than average price. Sampaguita Ice Cream was delicious, although the Paella was quite Pop and there were bits stuck to the bottom of the plate. Severe food coma followed. However, given the excellent decor, atmosphere, service and view, it is impossible not to rate this Ilustrado 5 stars.

I found this place several months ago when I was looking for a place for my mom's birthday. The ambiance and the food in the photos of their socmed were so convincing, so I made a reservation with them and got a response within the day. The ambiance was really nice, it feels like an old Filipino ancestral house. It gives me a feeling of dining at my late Lola's house. For the appetizers, we ordered the grilled squid salad and croquettas. The salad serving was surprisingly big and definitely flavorful. The croquettas have this melts in your mouth feeling. For the main dish, we ordered their signature paella, Illustrado paella and Bagnet paella, and the Kalderatang Kambing and Sinigang na Salmon, which i had no photo of as it was consumed immediately. The paellas are both good. I'm very particularly with the taste of paella, and these two hit all the right spots in my palette. The meat in kaldereta had the right amount of tenderness and is very flavorful. The sinigang, oh my God, the sinigang has the perfect kind of asim I long for in a sinigang. We also odered their cheese cake, and it has the right amount of sweetness and buttery taste in it. The servers were also very accommodating and even sang happy birthday for my mom. I highly recommend this place and would definitely go back!

The place is incredible. It is situated in the middle of Intramuros and you can really feel the old Manila vibes with the wooden flooring, windows, and structure of the place. The food, awesome! We really loved the Filipino-Spanish cuisine. The wait was long but when the food arrived, it was all worth it! In terms of the service, it's impeccable! It is our first time eating here and the staff accommodated us despite the fact we didn't have any reservation. They were friendly and fun throughout the service. Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5
