This is probably the most famous statue in the Philippines. For those who doesn't know yet, it is the photo of the National Hero of the Philippines. Dr Jose P. Rizal.

Certainly my wife’s favourite Filipino. Such a national hero he even has his own personal soldier stationed to protect his monument. The monument itself sits in a very prominent position and can be viewed from many areas in the park. Usually busy with people wanting to take pictures.

What amazed me the most is the sheer size of Rizal Park. Been there last February 2018 for the first time is indeed a memory worth keeping for. Though, its quite unfortunate that we happen to passed it by on 11am-12noon when the sun is at its peak. Fortunately, there are trees which provides shade for some parts of the way going to Manila Ocean Park.

This is the monument of the national hero of the Philippines. The most iconic statue of Rizal in the entire country. Reason for that is unlike any other statue of Rizal you can find in front of your local municipality, this one is a mausoleum - Rizal's body is inside it's base. For me, the best time to visit is during afternoon, around 5 pm - where you can enjoy the sunset of Manila Bay and you can catch up with the concert of lights at night. Tip 1: There is no parking area nearby. Better come here on foot Tip 2: No need to bring water, there is a canteen near the Chinese Garden Tip 3: Be careful, you are in the center of Metro Manila... be mindful of your surroundings. Safe trip!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had the incredible opportunity to visit the Rizal Monument and I was truly awe-struck by its historical significance and majestic beauty. The monument's intricate design and craftsmanship pay a fitting tribute to Dr. Jose Rizal, a national hero who played a vital role in shaping the Philippines' history. The site's serene atmosphere, surrounded by lush greenery, makes it an ideal place for reflection and admiration of Rizal's legacy. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a meaningful experience, the Rizal Monument is an absolute must-visit. It's a testament to the nation's rich heritage and a reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and progress.

A park covered not only with trees and shrubs, but also with historical wisdom. One suggestion though, the management could add tiny pins to the Europe, Germany, and Laguna Map, to let the tourists know about Rizal's significant journey to Europe and the Philippines. The park has two more gardens, the Japanese and the Chinese one—each with their own distinct architecture. I've also noticed three herons (one dead floating on the pond) which gave me a reminder about my own mortality. 9/10 would visit the Koi pond for some philosophical reflections again.

Highly recommended for tourists to visit! One among the most popular historical monuments in Manila. Great for photo ops. It's just admirable to watch the men guarding the monument, how dedicated they were to remain in their posts even under the heat of the sun. Peaceful and vast park behind the monument, good place to walk around and enjoy the feel of being in Manila.

The Josel Rizal Monument stands tall as a remarkable testament to the Philippines' commitment to preserving its rich and complex history. This monument is more than just a structure of stone; it's a living archive of the tumultuous past that shaped this nation. What makes the monument truly fascinating is the way it encapsulates both Spanish colonial history and the resilience of the Filipino people. It's a symbol of the enduring spirit of the Philippines, honoring a national hero who fought for independence from Spanish rule. In this one monument, you can see the convergence of these historical forces. As you stand before it, you can't help but feel a sense of awe and reverence. You're not just witnessing a physical structure; you're stepping into the pages of history. The monument's grandeur mirrors the significance of the events it represents. Visiting the Josel Rizal Monument is not just sightseeing; it's a journey through time. It's a poignant reminder of the struggles and triumphs that have defined the Philippines. It's a place where history comes to life, and where the past is beautifully and poignantly archived for all to see. If you want to truly understand the heart and soul of the Philippines, this monument is a must-visit.

What a dump.. Didn't think the streets and restaurants of Manila could get any dirtier. Wouldn't eat in any other the restaurants I passed. Everything had the putrid smell of the rivers flowing with effluent and trash. Dirty grimy place with lots of traffic as per normal in Manila..

So much respect for the soldiers who stand at this in such weather, and the sun beating them down. The park is really big with a lot of shaded sections to relax as well you can definitely go here to get some good exercise if you are looking for it. I usually do not ever rate things like this, but just wanted to give a shout out to the guys here!

Very nice monument for this national hero who gave his life for the nation. Since this offer should never be forgotten many parents and teachers visit Rizal Park with the children and first of all show the monument. They also visit the nearby place where he was executed. Many tourists equally visit this place and learn about the Filipino history.

National park is now in a better sttae than how it was in the 90s. It's worth a visit. All playgrounds are now free, museums are free, and it is better serviced by staff. I didn't expect it can get this good. My memories of it has not been very enticing as a park.

(Translated by Google) Chinatown Chinatown ↓ Chinatown is a place that surprises me a lot. It feels a bit like the scenes of ancient Hong Kong movies, but the area is a bit more dangerous than other places. This is a point I want to go, but not in me. In the itinerary planning ~ If I don't meet other friends I know this day, I dare not come alone. He is a district in Chinatown. The area starts with the Chinese-style archway "China-Philippines Friendship Gate" and ends at the other end "Goodwill Gate". This entire district is within the scope of Chinatown. It is said that Chinatown in Manila is also the earliest Chinatown established in the world. It has nothing and nothing strange! It refers to gold jewelry, Chinese medicinal materials, industrial supplies, tea houses and so on! Even the very old slot machines and small steel ball shops of the old casinos that often appear in movies! Of course, I ’m more timid ... I do n’t dare to enter such a place, after all, it ’s most important that I do n’t know how to live in a foreign country. What needs to be noticed here is that there are too many robberies here. The bags really need to be taken care of. We really encountered some children during the walk to ask us for money, and they will always block you. Always follow. Although I would like to help them very much, if I give it to other children or street friends, it will affect my own safety! When I was in Chinatown, all the standard looks of my tourists were taken out! The whole look around, look around and look at everything. It feels weird and new and special. It has a feeling of being in a Hong Kong-style movie, especially those exposed wires, noisy surroundings, chaotic streets and mixed taste Especially felt! There is only one handsome actor! This atmosphere, everyone knows it by themselves 👍 And we will temporarily decide that the main purpose of coming to Chinatown is to find food! And there is a Lanzhou ramen in this place, we must recommend it to everyone ~ This one is seriously cooking! The noodle taste is better than several local noodle restaurants in Taiwan. The beef noodles, shaved noodles, and wonton soup we ordered were all very good, and now I think of all drooling ... By the way, if someone here wants to help you open the door, do n’t be embarrassed, otherwise you have to pay ... Vignette ▶ On the return journey, I encountered a metamorphosis and suddenly blew my ears very close ... I was shocked ... As a result, my fellow friends kept telling me: "You must be careful when you are alone in the remaining days! Encounter strange People still have to be calm in this kind of thing. Do n’t panic and know? There is another person who does n’t want to come to an unsafe place like this! ”Moved immediately +100!

Huge park and fantastic memorial of Philippine hero Rizal. Grayline stops for 10 minutes as photostop. For tourists, this appeared to be a great place for photography:- there are visitors from many countries, families of different countries and culture, vendors selling many items including toys, food, hat/cap, glasses etc., huge green park with multiple structures.

The widest park in Metro Manila. Its centerpiece, the statue of the country's national hero, Jose Rizal. For visitors, be on the lookout as the place is not so secure. Too much controversy hounded the construction of a condominium building about a kilometer away from the Rizal monument, citing its distraction of the monument's view. But there were similar buildings erected years earlier, and a lot closer to the monument on the side street by only 200 meters - but did not stir as much noisy protestation.

A historic place. People flock here specially during weekends, though there are still visitors during weekdays. Lots of people take selfie shots here. Also, there are photographers scattered all over the place and would offer their service to you which you'll have to pay (you pay for the photos actually). They use a DSLR camera so the photos will definitely be good in terms of quality. However, due to technology nowadays, most people use their own phones or cameras to take photos and these people offering photography service are somewhat having a hard time getting customers so some people accept their offers out of pity.

I found this place by mistake and was amazed by the entertainment it offered. The only downer is the annoying street seller. They are a bit aggressive and they push hard to sell you something. Similar to the tailor suits sellers. But the rest was amazing. Great music show.

This national park holds the remains of the national hero Dr. Jose Rizal which is buried inside the monument. Thus the area is named after him. It is guarded as a national shrine by Marine soldiers round rhe clock. This is the prime park of the Philippines where the point of origin, Kilometer Zero is also located. Luneta as it is called, is where the martyr hero was killed by firing squad during the Spanish occupation. He led the Propaganda movement among the Ilustrados which significantly spread the ideas of liberation among the people. Jose Rizal is the author of two powerful novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo which awaken the consciousness of many natives , including the leader of the revolution and founder of the Katipunan, the mass based movement against the Spaniards. Rizal park is a symbolism of the Filipino patriotism, his courage and devotion to peace, his passion for freedom, and yearning for love.

Never gets old to see the statue of Dr. Jose Rizal with those guards. Makes you want to just jump out of the car & take selfies with the man. Only downside is the photobomber of the building >_< that disrupts the view.

The Stella Motto as the Rizal Monument is known was made overseas in Switzerland. The monument houses the remains of the patriot Dr. Jose Rizal, and is of national significance since it is located in the grounds wherein he was executed by the Spanish authorities in 1896, as Bagumbayan or as Luneta as it was known at the time. The monument is a prominent landmark in Rizal Park and regular commemoration honors are held with most foreign heads of state paying their respects to the Filipino figure.

Where the Philippine National hero DR. Jose P Rizal remains were finally interred (after Paco cemetery and Binondo). Much photographed monument, in the past years, unfortunately today photobombed by a grotesque residential structure on one side. Make sure you catch the changing of the guard here. #RP

This is the quintessential Filipino landmark and quite possibly the most photographed tourist attraction in Manila. The remains of Filipino national hero Dr. Jose Rizal lie beneath the monument where it is guarded daily by government personnel. The only downside to this attraction is the annoyingly tall building that has sprouted to the right and within the view of the monument itself.

Went there on a Monday, place wasn't filled with people. Clean and maintained. Was only there for about an hour. One thing to note there is the number of site photographers offering to take your pictures. You can just politely say you brought your own and they won't insist.

A huge historical park. No entrance fee. Parking available for 50 pesos... payment to the parking attendant. Has water fountains and benches within the park. Has Chinese and Japanese gardens. There is one section of the park with big statues (located beside the Chinese garden) reenacting the execution of the national hero. Busts of historical figures in the Philippine history at the center of the park. Jose Rizal's monument facing Manila Bay. A landmark is erected at the site of execution of the Filipino priests known as GomBurZa.

Rizal Park or Luneta Park is an iconic place with a rich history. It is one of the visited places here in Manila. Here you can enjoy the fresh air and jog all day or do some exercise. When you are exhausted at school or work and you need to relax and want to feel the environment surroundings. You can drop by and walk or sit here. Watching the fountain and listening to the music.

A place to pave respect to one of the national hero of the Philippines. Although be careful around photohraphers cause they could be sketchy like selling something that you didn't paid for and forced you to pay it.

Visiting the Rizal Monument is a must-do for any traveler to Manila. It's a beautiful and inspiring tribute to the Philippines' national hero, Jose Rizal. The monument itself is impressive, standing tall in the center of Rizal Park. But it's the significance of the monument that truly resonates. Rizal was a writer, doctor, and reformer who fought for peace and independence through his words. His execution by the Spanish only solidified his status as a national icon. If you're interested in learning more about Philippine history and culture, then a visit to the Rizal Monument is essential. But even if you're just looking for a beautiful and serene place to relax, the park is a great option. Just be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as there's a bit of walking involved.
