If your visiting Manila, you can not ignore the San Agustin Church, it should be on your bucket list to visit. The outside of the church is beautiful, but the true beauty is located inside the church. As of March 2018, the cost was only $4 U.S. to enter the museum portion of the church. When you enter the church, incredible paintings, carvings, sculptures and various other forms of artwork & history will be in your eyes. I am sure that you wont regret with remarkable, beautiful and unique structure.

Was not expecting much from the museum so I was really surprised when I have seen that they have lots of galleries inside. Took us about 3 hours to fully roam the place (though you can do this shorter; we really just took our time to read the descriptions, etc.). They charged us 200 per person, which is reasonable given the many things you can see inside. I'm not a history buff but I enjoy learning new things. If you're any of the two, you will love this place.

San Agustin Museum would be a nice addition to your manila itinerary. Catholic Pilgrims will love exploring this. Entrance fee starts at ₱200 / 4-5 USD$ for adults.

Love the atmosphere. This place is itself a story and you get more tempted to know by just viewing the amazing architecture of old times. The construction is strong and untouched. It's just like a beautiful Maze , you just wanna get lost in it. The cafe and surrounding are amazing to get into the groove and make the best memories out of it

San Agustin is the oldest church in the country and was completed in 1607. It survived many Earthquakes that surrounding buildings did not, it was used as a concentration camp, political haven and even a hospital. The monastery was repurposed as a museum in the 70s and is just one of the most spiritual places we have been. The museum holds so much history, shares so many life stories and represents a lifestyle that can only be imagined today. Baroque and grandiose design, tales of death and protection and the dedication of a community towards a shared faith can still be felt in the corridors.

Beautiful historical museum showing the establishment of the Agustin Friars in Manila circa mid 1500's...well preserved objects including vestments, chalices... Beautiful statues and paintings. Many parts are preserved with temperature controlled rooms which are a great break from the heat. Beautiful gardens.. easily loose oneself for hours .... P200 per adult entry fee...

the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation and Cincture (Spanish: Santuario Arquidiocesano de Nuestra Señora de la Consolación y Correa) or the Immaculate Conception Parish is a Roman Catholic church under the auspices of the Order of St. Augustine (Province of the Most Holy Name of Jesus of the Philippines) located inside the historic walled city of Intramuros in Manila. Completed in 1607, it is the oldest stone church in the country.

This historical landmark doubles as both a church and a museum and is a must visit in Intramuros. They have many archives that are well preserved and will give you an eye opening lesson on the early Spanish rule along with the influence if the church which has shaped much of modern Philippines today. There is an entrance ticket but they only accept cash for payment. Guides are also available and that comes with an additional cost

It is a church with a long history, the surface of the walls are quite dark, indicating perhaps a low level of maintenance. One of the two towers has collapsed during an earthquake and the ring that hangs it in the tower has placed inside the church. The interior is amazing with wonderful oil paintings on the windows, stuccoes on the walls and pillars, ceiling paintings, and a magnificent pulpit. It should be on the must see list for visitors in Manila.

It's church which is world heritage. It looks very standard church. It looks nothing special. However it seems like the oldest church in philippines, the current one is 3rd built building though. Anyway, the good thing is that you can take a look calmly because there are not so many people even weekends.

The church has an amazing history and terrific architecture. Don't pass the museum by next door. Adults 200p and worth every peso. Have Inc some pics. You can get into the other parts of the church via museum. But ask if a wedding service or event is taking place while you are there because they will close church off at this time.

I'm not rather sure of its operation as of the moment. We went on a Sunday. Free parking at the front. Hardly any people. We couldn't enter the church as well. There was a Baptism ongoing. But the church has always been nice to look at. The details and how it's elegantly antique looking.

(Translated by Google) 🕍🕍🕍San Agostino is a historic church located in the heart of Intramuros. Rich in history and with an adjacent museum, it can only be visited at odd times. Check the website when the Church is open. Don't expect much. Great is only the history that has gone through these places. Built by the Spaniards in 500. Worth a stroll if you are in Intramuros. This place has amazingly beautiful architecture, Incredible. The ceiling is filled with 3D painting which looks and feels like 3D carvings, just astonishing. Every detail is particular and has some relevance. The Church accompanies a museum adjacent to it, which in it self acts as a significant monument to visit, explore the history and evolution of city's culture. Must Visit!!

Pandemic time: You can enter to pray. Upon entering face mask and faceshield is a must. They check your temperature and you need to log your name too. Disinfectant is visible too. Social distancing is highly observed. I went in minutes before 12NN and only few people inside so I was able to take a photo before I went out. They closed the door by 12NN and everyone should go out.

In terms of church area, I personally prefer the Manila Cathedral over St. Augustine. Nonethleess, St Augustine Museum is huge with plenty of galleries to visit, learning about Christianity and missionary in the Philippines. Even if you are not keen to read everything, the hallway is full of paintings with chronological order. Each gallery has its own exhibition, such as one focusing on the robe, one is about Jesus and the Last Supper and etc. Good experience to learn about Christianity after all.

This is one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in the Philippines. The façade looks quite ancient, but the interior is gorgeous decorated with chandeliers and sculpted details. The church is free entrance, and the monastery/museum requires tickets. There are plenty of antique objects displayed at the monastery

San Agustin Church was constructed in 1586 and completed in 1607 by Spanish Augustinian friars. The church is known for its Baroque architecture, with its distinctively ornate facade and a combination of local and Spanish design elements. The church has survived earthquakes, fires, and wars over the centuries. It has witnessed numerous historical events and has played a central role in the country's colonial past.

This oldest church in Philippine is located inside historic walled city of Intramuros. It was destroyed twice by fire when it was built by bamboo and wood. Ultimately it reopened in 1607 made with stone. Since then it has survived many eartquakes and Battle of Manila in 1945. it is a World Heritage Site by Unesco. A lot of weddings and other ceremonies take place here nowdays. Worth seeing...

Historic church at the heart of Intramuros grounds. A very functional church to this date where you might come across weddings and ceremonies. Around the Intramuros area: Beware of beggars and mendicants, and please do not give any kind of money. Parking around the area is more expensive than usual at 100 pesos flat rate. Be careful of flagging down vehicles or horse carts. Be sure to get one that is authorized by the Philippine tourism authority . You will know as they will have valid identifications. Mostly enjoyed fron 4pm to 7pm

I stood in the cool, dim interior of San Agustin Church, my hand on my son's shoulder, and felt a wave of nostalgia wash over me. I had visited this venerable church many times throughout my childhood, its towering yellow facade and intricate carvings etched into my memory. Today, I was returning with my own son, eager to share this piece of my heritage with him. As I walked through the church, my son's eyes widened in awe. He marveled at the intricate details of church interiors, the gilded altarpieces depicting scenes from the life of Christ. He traced his fingers along the cool stone walls, imagining the countless prayers that had echoed within these halls over the centuries. I pointed out the statue of Our Lady of Consolation and Cincture, the patron saint of Intramuros. Outside the church, we strolled through the cobblestone streets of Intramuros, taking in the sights and sounds of this historic district. As our visit came to an end, I felt a sense of fulfillment. I had shared a piece of my childhood with my son, introducing him to the beauty and significance of San Agustin Church and the historic district of Intramuros.

It was a wedding on a Saturday. Busy church for weddings. I think it’s a second choice to the Manila Cathedral. Like any other old church, amazing architecture yet, ruined by some ugly choice of color in the paintings inside.

An old Catholic Church where we witnessed Chinese weddings one after another ceremonies. A lot of foreigners visit the site. There are banchettos or food stalls on the left side of the street heading to Manila Cathedral Church. It is also facing Barbara's Restaurant, a few blocks away from the Ruins of Intramuros and Fort Santiago. If you want to experience horse riding carriages or the kalesa, the ride costs ₱1,000 for 7 to 8 persons (3 kids 4 adults & kutsero). It goes around the Manila historical spots mentioned above for 1 hour. It's a different rate to go around Manila City Hall, National Museum and Rizal Park. To date, 19th February 2024.

I never thought that this place is this big. Artifacts and church items were all well kept and In pristine conditions. The place is well ventilated. Museum entrance fee is Php 200 for regular and Php 150 for students. The thing that I must say is to improve the cafe inside. They forgot to make one of the others and when we go back they gave it to us Naman but the items is not what we ordered. We just found out, when we are already outside of the premises. Imagine the entrance and the cafe distance is not that far but not ok knowing na mainit sa labas.

I chose to attend the Misa de Gallo here simply because it hosts fewer people in its masses. Not that it is not good to hear mass hear but people prefer the more prestigious Manila Cathedral which is just a few meters away. Despite not being as meticulous as that of the Manila Cathedral, it suffice for me. At the entrance, you are ask to have your temperature checked and have your hands sanitized via automatic alcohol dispensers. In terms of seating arrangements, they only allow 3 people in one bench that I think can sit around 8 people. As for the church itself, the view from the inside is majestic as always. Just look at the photos. But still, it is best seen in person. The church remains open a few minutes after each mass.

There are reasons why it is considered as one of the four old churches that UNESCO cited as national heritage. Aside from the fact that it was declated as the oldest stone church in the Philippines now. The remains of Miguel Looez de Legazpi and his grandson Juan de Salcedo was kept there for centuries. I don't know if the Ilocanos allowed to send Salcedo's head.

A small church inside Intramuros. Has only 2 columns of pews. There are monitors so even those seated the farthest can still participate.

Attended a friend's wedding. Place was spectcular! Parking is small but it was understandable since it was built 450 years ago. Not well ventilated but they had electric fans. You will not hear the mass very well at the back part of the church because their sound system isnt that good. Lots of vendors, pedicabs, and street food stalls around the church.

Have started going to mass here during the pandemic. My destination during my weekend bike ride. I appreciated it more when the priests started bringing out the eucharist to us bikers who couldn't go inside the church every Sunday. This really means a lot.

Easily one of the most beautiful stone churches of the Philippines built during the Spanish times. Awarded as one of UNESCO World Heritage sites (4 Baroque Churches), it was the only remaining structure in Intramuros after World War II.

San Agustin Church is a Roman Catholic church under the supervision of the Order of St. Augustine found inside the historic walled city of Intramuros in Manila. Completed in 1607, it is the oldest stone church in the Philippines. San Agustin Church is specifically located in General Luna St, Manila. The present structure is the third Augustinian church erected on the site. The first San Agustin Church was the first religious structure constructed by the Spaniards on the island of Luzon. Made of bamboo and nipa, it was completed in 1571, but destroyed by fire in December 1574 during the attempted invasion of Manila by the forces of Limahong. A second wooden structure built on the same site was destroyed in February 1583 by a fire that started when a candle ignited drapery on the funeral bier during services for Spanish Governor-General Gonzalo Ronquillo de Peñalosa.

This historical landmark doubles as both a church and a museum and is a must visit in Intramuros. They have many archives that are well preserved and will give you an eye opening lesson on the early Spanish rule along with the influence if the church which has shaped much of modern Philippines today. Entrance fee starts at ₱200 / 4-5 USD$ for adults.

Very clean and peaceful place, just need to go early because there’s a limited parking lot. There are good restaurants near the parish church.

The museum is open once again to the public with a entrance fee of 200 pesos. Inside you'll find big paintings and memorabilia of the church from it's beginning. There's a guide that will help explain some of the paintings inside. Though, I find the fee expensive coz not much to see inside aside.

A beautiful medieval church in which on weekends you can see beautiful wedding ceremonies. The church was built in 1586-1607. In 1993 it became one of the four Filipino churches built during the Spanish colonial period and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.б

The exterior may not be so spectacular, but the interior of the San Agustin Church is just breathtaking. If anyone who views the interior of the church does not know what Trompe L'oeil means, it surely serves him right if he registers awe at the ceiling and side columns. The chandeliers are just so fantastic and the main altar is just spectacular. A trip to this church should be compulsory among students, who must also submit a corresponding paper about the history, artistic value, and their personal reflection of this treasure of Philippine Architecture and History.

Back in the 90's, San Agustin Church and Museum was my first museum experience. Church was good and very historical, museum was somewhat eerie in some areas, but I enjoyed touring around. Maybe because of those old statues and saints plus the quiet atmosphere inside, and not to mention, those hispanic, giant paintings of priests and famous people from the past. I like the church more specially if you are just there to enjoy peacefulness as you talk to the Lord of whatever you have in mind and in your heart. A very solemn place to visit.

This has to be one of the hidden gems of the City of Manila. If you are within the vicinity of Intramuros and routinely tour cathedrals then do yourself a favor and visit here. We spent a few hours only, but could have spent longer. Note that it is usually the host of several weddings, and can be very busy. There is limited street parking, but you might have to walk a short distance. The facility is home to some very significant local biblical artifacts. The compound is well maintained and beautiful to walk through. There are several flights of stairs to navigate however, so it is not wheelchair friendly it appears. The roof of the cathedral is not painted, however it is quite ornate. A fantastic organ can also be viewed as well. Stained glass in places as well. The general condition of the art on display is fairly outstanding. Next door is a historic government residence, which also has downstairs rooms occupied by a restaurant.

A must visit in the Intramuros district of Manila. Felt like walking into an ancient temple, because of the gorgeous outside and no wonder, it's the oldest stone Church in Philippines! It has an incredible history from being the only public building left undamaged in the earthquake of 1863 to having its left bell tower cracked and dismantled during the next big shake in 1880. It served many purposes during its history from place of worship to a hospital to a Japanese concentration camp. An incredible monument of history.

Visited here as a tourist, but didn’t get to see much as there was a wedding taking place. The doors were open so we could peer in, but of course the ceremony was private so there was not much we could do or see. Congrats to the bride and groom though!! Looks like a lovely place to celebrate a wedding!!

It's a very nice place to visit while admiring the architecture from the old ages because of its unique church in the old city of Manila. Made by The Order of St. Agustine and completed in 1607, it is the oldest stone church in Manila.

I've been in this place before. But they opened a wing and updated some of their exhibits. It's good to re-visit and see what's new. They also added a coffee shop, which helps in the upkeep of the place.

When you are in Manila, please visit the historic heart of the city: Intramuros. You will relax from the frenzy of the capital of the Philippines and you will travel back in time. San Augustin has survived wars and catastrophes. It's the oldest catholic church in the country and it's beautiful. Don't forget to visit the museum next door, as you will have the chance to see the monastery-convent of San Augustin.
