👍👍 Simply a monument remembering Boy Scouts with a priest died in the line of duty. The clue: All names of the streets from Brgy. Sacred Heart, South Triangle, Laging Handa are named from the boy scouts in the statue (e.g. Scout Limbaga, Fuentebella, Chuatoco, Gandia, de Guia, Ybardolaza, etc). The M...

Sacred Heart, South Triangle, Laging Handa are named from the boy scouts in the statue (e.g. Scout Limbaga, Fuentebella, Chuatoco, Gandia, de Guia, Ybardolaza, etc). The Memorial Circle stands as a roundabout (Rotonda): To the North: Mother Ignacia St (directly to ABS-CBN Station) West: To Quezon Avenue South: To Kamuning Avenue East: To EDSA The rotonda crosses the Tomas Morato St (North to South) and Timog Avenue (East to West).

Sobering monument to scouts who perished in a plane crash on their way to the 11th World Scout Jamboree in 1963

On our last visit to the Philippines, this touching memorial was in a disgraceful state of disrepair, so bad that I was tempted to write a letter to the mayor of Quezon City telling him how dishonorable it was to allow this to happen. I never got around to writing that letter, but apparently the mayor read my mind, because it has been lovingly restored. The scout leader atop the memorial now has both arms, and all of the Boy Scout statues have been cleaned and repaired. In 1964, this troop of Boy Scouts, including the scout leader and a Reverend, all perished in a plane crash. This memorial was created in honor of them, and all of the streets in this part of town are named after each of the scouts, the Reverend and the scout leader, which I think is extremely cool. Anyone visiting this part of Metro Manila should definitely pay a visit to this memorial and check it out.

The actual statue in the middle has no pathway to get to so you can't really see the it up close unless you will brave the oncoming traffic. Nevertheless it is a great tribute in a great location.

This is also a Pokemon Go Ex Raid Gym. The monument is also a popular spot for protesting and rallies. Most of the protests were done on Friday afternoons. It doesn't experience heavy traffic except whenever there are heavy rains. In which case, traffic extends up to EDSA. Currently under renovation (Jan 2019). As much as possible, for your safety, please refrain from crossing the Rotunda.
