This place has a bit of a mixed review for me, I couldn't tell if this place was originally a hotel turned part hotel and condo. OR a condo turned hotel.. The staff was great and really this is the main reason to stay here. I didn't feel the value was all that great. The room pictures on the app made it seem a bit nicer than they really were. Overall it was an ok place very near he mall but the main downer for me was the rooms. Although they were giant (2 bedroom) it had a feeling like it had been well used and only the tiniest of improvements had been made over the years. The floor showed a lot of wear as did the tables and chairs bathrooms and counters. That's why I was wondering if a company leased out some old condos and are calling a hotel now. They did have some cool fish in the lobby along with a really cool wood mural. Unfortunately even though the staff was great it seemed a bit run down and people were definitely living there so I'm not sure the situation. I did see them doing some construction carrying new laminate and other home upgraded products but I'm not sure if that was for the hotel or for some of the tenants.

Great location close to everything you need. Breakfast was great and service was okay. Only real problem was the room we received wasn't the room I booked so was a little disappointed but would stay here again 😊

The rooms are fantastic. One of the nicest hotel stays I've had in recent memory. The staff are friendly and professional, and the security is on point without being intrusive. The hotel is centrally located. Robinson mall is only a block away, and there are laundry facilities within two blocks on either side of the hotel (the hotel offers laundry service as well but at a higher price). If you don't mind sweating, there's a lot to do within walking distance, but since walking distance varies, almost everything you want to see is within 4km.

I'll rate it four stars as a visitor and not a guest. Our relatives from the US always book at this hotel. I can see that it's cozy and not that expensive compare to others. They've been booking here, like everytime for years.

Rooms are old but big. Good for long stay. The hotel staff seems kind. I dont like dark rooms so i changed my room. There was no microwave, then i requested and they provided. Stove was not working i complained and they changed. No air con in the lounge and room one is too small. But the staff arranged two fans. Room was dirty before i entered. They cleaned and waxed the wooden floor. They should change the bed. Too old and mattress too. Some rooms are good and some not.

Although the building is old it's a great value for money. Rooms are comfortable and large with good living spaces. The WIFI is good and so is the swimming pool. The breakfast is ok and it's not buffet.

Stayed here as a group of 3 people for 2 nights. Our room was exceptional; the kitchen, the bathroom, the closet, the bedroom, the living room. Felt like an apartment. We were on the 8th floor and had an excellent view outside. Our room was a "superior suite" on the corner. They have nice terraces on the 9th floor with chairs and tables, some plants and nice views. There were two TVs in our room with a decent selection of foreign and domestic cable channels, but no smart TVs for YouTube, Netflix, Amazon, etc. There is a gym available on the 2nd floor and a cafe restaurant which plays decent music on their smart TV. If you opt for the free breakfast, pick the Filipino breakfast as it's more value. They try to fool you with the "American breakfast" which is missing a lot of expected items. For the Filipino breakfast, the pork tocino was excellent both times, although it took around 15 minutes to make. They have a pool which is open until 9pm, but the water is warm so it's good for swimming; I'd say it's around 5'5-5'7 at its deepest point. Saw some other foreigners staying here as well. Seems to be somewhat popular. The main air conditioner in the living room worked just fine but it was old and leaky, and by leaky I mean real bad. It was constantly dripping water and by the end of just one night there was a sizable amount of water drip on the wood floor, which I cleaned up over and over. There's a housekeeping cleaning crew that comes once a day in the late morning, I figure they usually come there to clean it up and replace all the other necessities like toilet paper, soaps, towels etc. The air conditioner in the bedroom area worked just fine with no issues. They also prohibit guests from staying overnight, even if you have multiple beds or a sofa there; the guests are forced to leave at 9pm, or else there will be a surcharge. P2000 for a full extra bed per person per night, P1200 per person per night with no additional bed but full breakfast, and I believe ~P800-1000 per person per night with no additional bed or breakfast, but not sure about that last price; it's under P1200 at any rate. You can also request an initial two beds instead of one if you're booking for two people, free of charge. The hotel is very close to the famous Rizal Park, a Robinsons mall nearby, some national museums, a Manila Ocean park, and a short trike ride away from the Manila Zoo, the old city of Intramuros, the Manila Cathedral, the various forts, churches, city hall and others. Yeah, I'd come here again, but just as a 2 person group for the better value.

Right at the heart of old Manila. Big and clean rooms with a nice swimming pool. Just where you want it to be when in Malate.

This is our first stay at Tropicana Suites. It is conveniently close to Robinsons Place Manila and near the United States Embassy and St. Luke's Medical Center Extension Clinic. The suite has a refrigerator, electric stove and oven, microwave, electric hot water kettle, pots and pans, cooking utensils, dinnerware and cutlery. The aircon is a small unit, not really large enough to cool the entire space, however, there is a sliding door which can be closed for adequate cooling of the bedroom. I am not sure the aircon could handle the heat from serious cooking. Hot water is plentiful and the suite's door is locked with a traditional key so there is electricity avaliable even when not in the suite.

Been there during the quarantine on 2021. The rooms look good , the balcony very dusty , and the staff just want to get your money, not helpful even to bring me food that i was ordering instead of buying their one offering

Overall a good hotel experience, with some subjective parts. The rooms/theme might look old for others but I personally don’t give attention to that. The bad: β€’ AC units; they are too old so they make too much noise. Tweaking the setting doesn’t make much difference. I wore in-ear earphones and sometimes headphones with active noise canceling to suppress it to sleep. Some people could be used to this. β€’ Bed; too stiff for my liking, but this is subjective. The good: β€’ Overall service was good; the attendants/staffs when asked questions and were approachable; waiters and waitresses for breakfast accommodations were kind and approachable as well; they were quick when asked for new TPs.

I stayed here before and it was a very good experience, so, I wanted to stay here again. However the price has DOUBLED this makes it unacceptable for future stays. You can book a 5 star up to date Hotel for less than what they are charging. Sigh......I guess nothing good last forever. So long Tropicana.....

The pictures look much nicer then the actual rooms. I stayed here for 4 days and I didn't see the pool. The room was definitely older and more worn then those in the picture. It was an affordably priced hotel close enough to the US Embassy if you need to go there for any reason and Robinson's Manila for easy shopping, eating, or strolling. The free breakfast is cooked to order and is pretty decent. The staff are all very professional and friendly.

Great place to stay. Very spacious room and clean. Great service and staff always pleasant. I had one issue and they resolved it quickly. Breakfast is good and cooked to order but not really expansive. Pool area is good but a little awkward to get to. What I will say is floors are VERY slippery as in you can easily slide across it so you must be careful when walking, getting out of bed, etc or wear crocs. The view from my balcony wasn't much, faced a building under construction and the smell was awful. Nothing the hotel has any control over. I recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

We stayed 7 days and 6 nights. Everybody was polite and friendly. Our room was clean as were the bathroom and kitchen. The complimentary breakfast everyday was very good. The AC worked wonderfully. Shopping is across the street at the Robinson's Mall. There are plenty of restaurants there including a Denny's and Shakey's Pizza. We are long time customers and we stay here every two years we come to the Philippines.
