This place has alway been one of the best to have Japanese food. Especially during lunch time because of their set meals. 5⭐ - Tempura 5⭐ - Chicken Katsu Ni 5⭐ - Tonkatsu 5⭐ - California Maki The set meals come with rice, miso soup, cabbage salad, and spicy tuna. And the serving size is just right for the price.

Food's good, ambiance is very oriental "japan feels", service is a little rough but speedy. Our server was polite and had good suggestions. It wasn't that expensive, compared to other japanese restaurants. We were super full for the price we paid for.

I went here a few times already, the 1st few times, food was really good but for some reason last time we went everything we ordered was bad. The bad thing was I invited some friends to come with me. After the meal, they all said that the food was bad and not worth what we paid for.

This is by by far, one of the best and authentic Japanese restaurants that I have ever been to. I could no longer count the number of times that I have been to this place. I have also been to the other restaurants inside Little Tokyo, but I would have to say that Izakaya Kikofuji is the best one. This is the reason that the place is always full. You should come early if you are a walk-in. Parking is quite a problem too. But you may want to park at the mall/supermarket beside little tokyo and just walk to the restaurant. Sushi here is always fresh! I would also invite you to try their special california maki roll. It’s serving is huge and good for sharing. But sometimes, they run out of Salmon though. So you may want to check the availability of fresh sashimi before you go. Nothing more disappointing than an unavailable item on the menu specially if you are craving that very thing. πŸ˜… But overall, i would highly recommend this place! πŸ‘Œ

Good Japanese food and experience! Everything's great except for a super slight bad smell, but nonetheless a superb dining experience and friendly staff! Also, it is not comparable to the real Japanese cuisine as some of the dishes are not authentic.

Two dishes I don’t miss to order in this place. 1. Spicy Tuna 2. Wagyu BBQ on sticks The place is a bit old now. I think it needs renovation and pest control. But despite the downsides, still that doesn’t stop me from visiting this place. Check it out!

The menu is vast but the dishes are surely Authentic in Japanese Taste. The portions are decent especially the set meals. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.

Went to Izakaya Kikufuji last Nov. 18 Saturday. Service was very bad as we had to procure our own menus and the servers were really busy and were not accomodating. Tons of servers went up to us and mentioned that yhey would come back but would never do so. Finally an actual server took our order after numerous attempts. We were a party of two and ordered the Gyudon Lunch, Tonkatsu Lunch Set, Salmon Sashimi, Spicy Tuna Sashimi, Enoki Bacon, Buta Bara, Beef Yakitori. Gyudon, Salmon Sashimi, and Spicy Tuna Sashimi arrived after 20 minutes while the Tonkatsu and yakitori arrived after 50 mins even though the server mentioned it would only take 30. Salmon sashimi arrived frozen and the tonkatsu had some hair inside the batter. When raised both of these issues the server basically gave a look of disinterest in actually solving it and made it feel like we should just take whats given. After frustrating conversations with the servers we just got the salmon sashimi cancelled and the tonkatsu replaced. Katsu was not good anyways since the pork felt old and had a weird taste. The gyudon, spicy tuna sashimi and skewers were pretty good tho but since the service and experienxe was horrible I dont think ill come back to this famous establishment.

Food: relatively big servings.. no complimentary tea is quite strange vs other "authentic" japanese restaurants i've tried. we enjoyed the maki (for sharing), the tempura and gyoza tastes good (not something that would make me go back though). the Chashumen (Ramen with chasu) is a bit bland and doesn't have the strong flavor i usually taste in other ramen stores. the chashu is meh... sliced very thinly and almost no flavor (ang putla pa). ps: i am not a japanese so i can't speak in terms of authenticity.

Came highly recommended. Lunch sets are best value except that they removed the free iced coffee (would've cost them a star). Everything was excellent but the tuna sashimi and the California maki were stand outs. Will bring the fam next time

No draft beer, highball is not good. Wanted to try yakitori but most of the dish from the menu is not available. No beef, no wagyu, etc...mackerel is tiny. Those who rated high for this restaurant must not have visited the real Tokyo.

Food is always amazing, fresh, and authentic. We've been eating here for so many years but this was the first time where we are not satisfied with the service. We came here at 11:15AM. It took 40-45 minutes before out order of chicken bento arrived. I overheard from one of the staff that the restaurant was also making orders for deliveries whish caused the delay of our order. Sadly, this is the last time that we will be eating here.

This has been our go-to Japanese restaurant in the metro since forever. Situated in Makati's Little Tokyo district, this restaurant is very popular amongst the Japanese living in the Philippines. It is also very popular with those who live in Makati and the vicinity. For us, even though we live far, it is still our favorite Japanese restaurant. Their sashimi is fresh and legit, shipped straight from Japan. Everything on the menu is authentic. You will immediately be transported to Japan when you bite into any of the food in the menu. We suggest ordering anything on the lunch menu. It comes with side dished already and miso soup. The spicy crunchy sashimi side dish is just crazy good. Try ordering the sashimi lunch set, it has all the goodies in it. Tempura is also very good. We tried the croquette recently and it did not disappoint!

Easily our go-to japanese restaurant/izakaya in Makati! Food is fresh and servings are huge β€” you definitely get a good bang for your buck. What I honestly don’t like are their highballs β€” a bit bland and underwhelming so just go for the usual japanese beers. Downside is parking and long waiting time as it can really be jampacked especially when it’s peak hours (around lunch/dinner time). But overall β€” food, staff, and service are commendable! Kikufuji will always be a favorite of ours in Makati.

Best wagyu, california.maki, kani salad, tempura and many many more. Recommended.for the whole family. Parking can be a concern.

Pros: The good reviews on this restaurant were spot on. They have many food options from donburi, sashimi, teppanyaki, sushi, appetizers, etc. Chirashidon’s selection of fish and seafood was good. They serve complimentary house tea and miso soup. Staff were attentive and efficient. They accept gcash payment. Cons: Limited parking space.

This izakaya thrills you with its very fresh seafood at amazingly affordable prices! The small frontage opens up to a surprisingly deep and wide interior space. Then it goes the extra mile of delighting its customers with FREE spicy tuna and shredded cabbage salad (during lunch only)! What else can you ask for?

Makati "not recommended" Japanese cuisine Izakaya Kikufuji This place was recommended by a friend who has been here many times. But after coming, I didn't think it was that great, maybe because we didn't know what to order. Apart from the food itself, the service is extremely poor :( Reviews mentioned that they provide tea, but they actually don't. Waiters are very difficult to call, and they are not attentive when taking orders. On average, when ordering 5 items from the menu, more than 2 items are not available. We informed them that we wanted separate tables and separate orders and payments, but they lied and said that our friends had already allowed us to merge the payments. It's really unacceptable to lie so openly. I asked how many pieces of assorted sashimi there were in the five-point sashimi, and they told me there were 3 pieces of 4 varieties. I was like ???? One glass of draft beer costs 88P but it has no fizz. I'm not sure how long it has been poured because the second glass, which was added later, had fizz, although not much. Some slices of sashimi had a fishy smell. There's nothing good to recommend. The tea-soaked rice is hard to describe, I don't recommend it. The barbecue section is a nightmare. We waited for more than 30 minutes and they served burnt food to the customers. When we complained to the waiters, they said they couldn't do anything because they were not chefs. I asked how long it would take to redo the barbecue, and they told me 15 minutes, but earlier they told me that barbecue would take more than 30 minutes. What's going on??? Because the waiter's answers were too vague, I had already been scolded by my companions in the middle, and the skewers that came out later were not burnt. But! ! ! One skewer of chicken was not cooked, it was raw. The waiter continued to deflect responsibility and refused to call the chef. She even said that their master doesn't speak or listen (?) (Then I wonder how they usually communicate with him) The master, who is also the owner, doesn't seem to be good at speaking, but he has no problem with reading. Through the translator, he finally understood what happened, which shows that the waiter didn't tell the truth to the boss = = The boss waived our barbecue bill and apologized. To be honest, I'm not here to nitpick, but when customers are already very angry, and the waiter is still laughing on the side, it's really speechless. I hope your store can improve its service quality, not just the food.

We had lunch at Izakaya Kikufuji on a holiday and the place was packed. We ordered two of their lunch special, Chirashi Don and Assorted Sushi. The service was terrible - probably the worst we experienced in Little Tokyo. We understand that it was a busy day but we were there the moment it opened and placed our orders right away yet we waited for around 30 minutes before our orders arrived. Also, the servers were not friendly at all and even looked irritated whenever we would call their attention to follow up on our meal and even when we were just asking for house tea. Just okay food plus bad service - we will definitely not go back, there are better places in Little Tokyo worth visiting.

This is now one of my favorite Japanese restaurants for dining with more than 4 people. Their exterior looks simple but there's a lot of room for customers inside and at least three kinds of table setup to choose from. Their food is relatively affordable especially for big groups. Their food serving size, even just the donburi, can fill up a big eater. Will definitely come back here with other Japanese food-loving friends.

Still one of the best authentic japanese restos in Makati - food and ambiance. Service needs improvement.

  • 3/5 Izzy M. 10 months ago on Google
It's okay. I think the quality decreased or maybe that's just inflation. I'd still come for the spicy tuna/salmon though. The ambiance is a bit poor, the place is now a bit run down and might need a bit of reno soon. It can get really busy too so you'd need to talk a bit loudly so the other person can hear you.

It is a deccent choice for japanese cuisine. They have a lot of options for any food that you might like. The service tea is very good. The seating can be further improved if they would implement a good reservation system. πŸ‘

Great japanese food experience at reasonable price. Try their maki, soba noodles, kani salad and tempura. The ambiance is also good for dining. The place is also accessible in Makati. Maybe their service crew can improve their customer service because they are somewhat not friendly. Nevertheless, their food is great and I may visit again to try their other menu.

One of the best places in Makati to experience Japanese food without breaking the bank. That's not saying that their prices are cheap because you get what you pay for. The interiors haven't changed in the past 10 years even with the addition of private rooms at the back of the resto. Staff who've been with the resto for the same number of years definitely know the regulars. They've been there so long that they've picked up Japanese and speak the language like locals. A good place to practice your Nihongo without quoting anime memes. Now about the food, the pictures say it all. What you see in the menu isn't exactly what you might get so trust the pictures from contributors to guide you. And make sure to order the 5 kinds sashimi. You can swap any one item with something else. Everyone does so don't be shy. Tempura is a staple in 99% of Japanese restos so if you're not craving, choose something that you haven't tried before like the grilled mackerel. And if you're not driving, some sake should round it off pretty well.

Izakaya Kikufuji: An Authentic Japanese Gem in Makati's Heart Nestled within Makati's "Little Tokyo," Izakaya Kikufuji stands as a testament to authentic Japanese cuisine at remarkably affordable prices. This culinary gem offers a diverse range of Japanese dishes that appeal to both the palate and the wallet. Upon entering, the restaurant strives to immerse patrons in the ambiance of Japanese dining. However, while the intention is clear, there's room for refinement in execution. Notably, the service, while generally acceptable, could benefit from a touch of improvement. It's in the realm of streamlining the queuing system that fairness to early arrivals could be enhanced. Now, let's delve into the true star of the show: the food. Izakaya Kikufuji excels in this department, delivering exceptional dishes that leave an indelible mark. Among them, the tempura mix and niku soba emerge as standouts. The tempura mix delights with its perfectly crispy exterior and tender interior, showcasing the artistry of Japanese frying techniques. Meanwhile, the niku soba, a savory beef noodle soup, offers a comforting explosion of flavors that will warm your soul. What's even more remarkable is the affordability of these delectable offerings, which makes the dining experience all the more satisfying. In conclusion, Izakaya Kikufuji easily earns its reputation as one of the premier Japanese restaurants in the city. It's a place where you can savor the true essence of Japanese cuisine without breaking the bank, all while nestled in the heart of Makati's vibrant dining scene.

Before the pandemic, we used to go here and eat because it's one of the best Japanese restaurant in Manila. They offer dine in now but there are limited seats only. I usually do take out and I make sure to call first because it takes a while for them to prepare the food. You can order there but expect approximately 30min of waiting time. The price is reasonable because their serving size is quite big and their food is definitely delicious. πŸ‘β€οΈ

Underwhelmed. Ordered chirashi bowl, seafood teppanyaki, and vegetable tempura. Came here because the restaurant was raved as the best Japanese restaurant but serving was poor and a lot of items on the menu were out of stock. Sashimi wasn't so fresh, teppanyaki was not hot, tempura was not crunchy. I'm assuming they have better days. Maybe our fault for coming on a Saturday evening.

(Translated by Google) Not crowded, but the time to get seats. We were 6 then, they already had some customers who were just like 2s. We waited for more than an hour. Parking is difficult. The food .. Ehm .. The said best seller Spicy tuna, has not much flavor. We enjoyed the special california maki because of the mango topping. We ordered the sashimi platter, fresh, just right. The katsudon also, no wow taste. Yung wagyu cubes na on stick, normal lang. Maybe we have high expectations on nice reviews. But our experience, not so. (Original) Not crowded, pero ang tagal maka kuha ng seats. We were 6 then, naka ilang papasok na sila ng customers who were like 2s lang. Mga more than an hour kami nag hintay. Mahirap ang parking. The food.. Ehm.. Yung sabing best seller na Spicy tuna, wala masyadong lasa. We enjoyed the special california maki because of the mango topping. We ordered the sashimi platter, fresh naman, sakto lang din. The katsudon also, walang wow taste. Yung wagyu cubes na on stick, normal lang. Siguro mataas expectations namin sa ganda ng mga reviews. Open for Take Out / Take Away only. Has wide variety of Japanese food. Sushi, Maki, Grilled, Fried, Chakuze, Liquors, Juices, Beers, Teas. Generous bed of vegetables beneath fried meals. Ordered Special California Maki 450 one full container. Which is generally too much for one person. One serving can fill up two or more persons depending on your appetite. Mechikatsu has two stuffed round servings divided into four slices on a bed of fresh thinly sliced cabbage, cucumber and carrots. Sauce on a separate container neatly placed inside the container. Generous amount of gohan at 65 per serving is enough to stuff one person even when you are hungry. Ebi Tempura 4 pcs. per order at 240 on a bed of fresh thinly sliced cabbage, carrots and cucumber. On a separate mini bowl is the Tempura sauce. Tonkatsu 180 is just as good quality as all the fried meals mentioned above. Agedashi Tofu at 135 is a little too simple on execution without bonito flakes or seaweed. But neatly made and assembled so it's a major plus. Will try other items on the menu when in town.

Honestly felt underwhelmed by the food, ambiance, and the service, considering we waited outside for 30+ minutes to get a table during dinner time. Miso soup, tempura, Chicken karaage, and even their special maki rolls and spicy tuna sashimi, all were a bit disappointing in taste, in presentation and the price. We didn’t like their Agedashi tofu nor their tonkatsu either. They were also out of stock on their salmon and uni on a Friday dinner. Wouldn’t go back.

I like the salmon sashimi, the pieces are large and fresh. The Special California Maki is 8 maki rolls with spicy tuna and mango on top. A good size and very filling for P500. The wagyu skewers are juicy and simple. If you are a small group you can choose to sit at tables or the sunken seating area where you take your shoes off. If you are with a friend or two other people, they will seat you at the bar. The restaurant is located in "Little Tokyo" where there are other restaurants and bars, and a couple of videoke spots nearby.
