Im a fanatic when it comes to Pares. Ima rate it 3.5 star Pares was mass produced/cooked. So tastewise nakakabitin yung lasa nya. Years ago it was 50 pesos Now its 160 pares with rice Other Pares Shops have renovated the original pares. Its still the original cos it was here 90s. You can try it But Ive tried better ones. Two. Honest review.

This is the restaurant that made beef pares popular which is an anise flavored beef stew that goes very well with fried garlic rice. Aside from beef pares, their beef Bulalo, chop suey, stuffed shrimp, tapsilog, kiampong, and butter chicken are very popular too! Parking is difficult as there are no provisions for it but despite this, people come here at all hours. There's a toilet here in case you need to go. Take away is also popular

Still one of the best Pares in my honest opinion (the other is Jonas Retiro). Nothing will replace them as the Pares Kings. Highly recommended. Since 90s my father and mother used to take us here and at Jonas, until now, Iโ€™m bringing my wife once a month. Taste is still the same. Highly recommended. Almost all their foods Iโ€™ve already tried, one remains my always go to, Pares.

Legendary. My parents used to take me here when I was little. We'd wait long lines just to taste the best pares. The ambiance isn't the same as before, maybe because of Covid. ๐Ÿค” But still the best pares in Town

Always delicious and affordable! Although I donโ€™t like the fact that the person behind you is waiting while youโ€™re enjoying eating.. feels like you have to eat in a hurry Always a line up

Missed this place. Me & my partner agree. We were thinking of where to eat while we were in Tondo and since we will be going home to our city home so I blurted "Why not in Pares Retiro!" and he agreed. Parking was a little wait BUT we love the Social Distancing setup compared to when people were breathing down your neck as if saying "Tapos ka na? Alis ka na! Ako naman!" The price may have increased but I guess that's part of the #NewNormal. Enjoy your PARES!!!

Imitation is always the best form of flattery and I think The Original Pares Mami House in Retiro is the best example to exhibit that notion. Often imitated but never duplicated. If you're looking for the original Beef Pares (Braised Beef Stew) and Garlic Rice pairing, then look no further. The one thst started it all is located in NS Amoranto (formerly Retiro) cor. Dr. Alejos Streets in Quezon City. Despite the numerous pares spots imitating this famous joint, people can't seem to get enough of the OG sweet and savoury beef braised stew. As they say, sarap na babalik-balikan talaga. People still line up waiting to get a spot daily, 24/7 just to dine here. Dont be fooled though. Despite their pares pairing, people also line up for other selections such as the Stuffed Shrimp, Campto Soup, and their Pork (with Shrimp) Siomai. If you're within the area, might as well stop by and try their famous beef pares.

The food was still good every after work I'm always here before pandemic time. Now decided to try and still the best pares. But now it is on a pricey level for me and not that reasonable, well maybe for the name and as being well known pares house if I think it that way. Might not come back to often anymore.

Came back after 4 years and was greeted with a taste of nostalgia. Almost everything changed in the streets of Manila, except the taste of their pares and beef mami. The taste makes me travel back in time during my uni days where we will go to this same branch after our bar hopping session in Morato. Their food will always make you feel like you're home.

THE LEGENDARY ORIGINAL PARES MAMI HOUSE RETIRO ๐Ÿ’ฏ This is definitely a gem worth trying. Their Beef Pares is like no other and you will surely order more extra rice 'til you can't anymore. It's easily accessible via commute or if you're bringing a car, don't worry because there are lots of parking spaces around. Just ask the attendants for some help ๐Ÿ‘

Incredibly fast and great service, food was served in less than 3 minutes of seating (And this was in lunch time where the place was full) They also gave us a pitcher of water and iced drinks which was nice. The beef pares meal is pretty average, nothing noteworthy but not bad for 160, pretty filling as well. The stuffed shrimp was great to pair up with the chili + soy sauce. The beef mami tastes like Luckyme Bulalo but of course all natural. Overall pretty good experience, would recommend.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that the famous pares doesn't taste good. Service is fast. Serving is decent (more lean beef and some fat) considering the price (P125). Overhyped. Pares isn't worth craving for. But I understand the sentimental aspect.

AMBIENCE Open 24 hours. It was crowded as expected and people were lining up behind different customers that were already settled on stools eating their beef pares. Place is hard to miss especially at night. In fact, their establishment brings the area to life! Parking seemed to be along the street or in front of the establishment along Retiro. For takeaway, you get a number and pay as you order. Floor near the stools were full of litter and I wish customers would make the effort to place it where they are supposed to be; it's supposed to be easy. FOOD For obvious reasons, it was a MUST to try their Beef Pares P115, which came with soup, garlic rice and a cold pitcher of water. Meat was sweet and tender. Because I enjoyed the sauce and ate some with every bite, my dishes were wiped out clean! Rice was slightly dry but the sauce and soup made it no biggie. SERVICE Server was quick to serve my food, bill and change. It just took a short while to get their attention upon my arrival because they were busy with the other customers (full house).

The service was prompt, and the staff was attentive. We got their beef pares and porkchop rice, which I enjoyed because the pork was tender and easy to chew. I didn't see anything exceptional about their specialty, beef pares. Janet's pares, in my opinion, are superior.

"Still tastes delicious! ๐Ÿคค The beef was tender and flavorful. A bit pricey na, but all in all, a good place to enjoy pares. ๐Ÿ‘

  • 5/5 Airene A. 3 years ago on Google
First time to try their signature dish, I was mesmerized. The beef is tender-supreme and has a fair share of lean meat chunks and tendons. Surprisingly not greasy at all! A serving of pares is enough to feed 2 persons but if you have a huge appetite, it will not disappoint you. Take out service is straightforward; fast and efficient. It only took 5 minutes to be served and I appreciate the other food suggestions to go with your pares, which is by the way perfectly paired with their fragrant garlic rice.

The OG Pares Retiro! This place is always packed with people. There's parking lot in front and has 2nd level for more seatings. Serving is fast and quality. The water they served was purified. I tasted it. Lol. They served other comfort food also, Mami (which varies to beef, wonton and others) Lechon Kawali, Shrimp, buttered chic. And many more. But I assure you this place is haven and quality.

  • 4/5 Merlisa B. 3 years ago on Google
Still the best pares in the metro. It was always packed pre-pandemic, and we were happy to see that even with a steady stream of customers, they try their best to observe protocols. This is an eat-and-go place, but you always leave with your cravings satisfied.

The food is good with the price. It's more convenient to just ride a motorcycle than a car because the parking space is very limited. You also need to wait for about a minute or two because it is always packed. But overall, it is a good place.

We went to Manila specifically to eat in this classic pares place. โญโญโญโญ Can't really describe how pares tastes, but this one is rich and flavorful. It could have gone to 5stars if it wasn't lukewarm. That definitely ruined the experience. Will I try it again? Where else would you go to for a midnight pares run? I just hope next time we get a hot meal served.

We visited late January of 2022. They definitely lived up to the hype. Their Pares costs 140pesos at this time; and it should be the golden standard of all pares recipe in Manila. Sweet but not too overpowering sweet, right amount of season, also right amount of ratio of beef to litid/beef fats.

I am not a fan of pares but their food are really good. It was my first time and it did not disappoint. They offer different kinds of pares, mami and fried food. They also offer Sola for drinks. Open 24/7. We ate here at past midnight yet there are still lots of people in line who are waiting for seats to occupy. Patience is really needed. It really feels uncomfortable since it's kind of you're in a hurry. Service is good since their staff are fast and accommodating. The menu is actually pricey than other Mami House pares. A beef pares for 160 pesos can be 2 to 4 orders of beef pares in other Mami House. Also, very limited parking but there are options around the area.

  • 5/5 Mariz D. 1 year ago on Google
Our go-to pares place ๐Ÿ‘ it is open til past midnight. Food is great, service is good but most of the time, you have to wait for few minutes to get a table. Crowded but definitely worth it. Parking is very limited but there are options around.

You'd think the pandemic ought to put a dent on this old-but-gold establishment, but no siree, they're as strong as ever. You still have to fall in line and wait your turn to be seated. It's still a long wait. And it's still worth it. One neat trick if you're planning on having your pares to-go: call ahead. You get jilted looks from people who have spent the better part of a half hour falling in line while you drop in, head straight up the counter, and get your food like a rockstar. Aah, yes. It's as bit as good a garnish as the chili-garlic you put on your pares.
