DONT BOOK; CHECK BEFORE PAYING No Refund after 30 minutes of checkin. I picked this hostel as it seemed to be a good quality hostel also with the reviews that I read. After flying to Manila from Cebu I went to check in at around 5:00AM. It was still dark so of course it looked a bit sketchy but I guessed it was just the darkness. I went up to the room and already had a light shock. The curtains didn’t enclose the upper bunk fully so you can see the other people sleeping. Unfortunately I had that bed too. The room itself was very bright because lack of curtains, very loud because on the Main Street like sleeping with the window open, I couldn’t use the plugs even with my international adapter. I then went to check the toilet / shower. On the 2nd floor there was only one shower and toilet together and when I went to the top I found a really disgusting toilet and shower. Last concern is that I did not feel safe at all. The people hanging out on the street but also in the hostel looked strange and weird. Very uncomfortable. I decided to check out and look for something else and ask for a refund after not having been in the hostel for 30 minutes. The owner refuses to give me a refund, which was btw higher than I had to pay too. I fled this hotel. Worst place I have been so far. TLDR; very bright rooms, damp, very loud, on the Main Street, dirty toilet and shower and definetly not enough. I have been using hostels for a long time but this was horrible. Stay away! Might be fun if you are backpacking but didn’t feel safe at all.

First of all, they charged me 132 extra php more than what the original booking said, with an attitude. The room was reeking upon opening which was really unpleasant. For blanket I got a thin table cloth where I had to use my towel to keep me warm during night because the AC was blasting. Toilet was small, wet floors, the toilet itself did not have a seat and it even smelled like hospital inside. Do not expect to sleep much considering you could hear every single car and bike as loud as they were inside the room. The worst were the buses whose exhaust were broken and very very loud. Staff was talking long after 01:00 which was noticible when trying to sleep. The dorm did not have a EU electric outlet, only in the reception. Count with walking atleast 10-15 minutes everyday to get some food or water. The price was pretty cheap, but should have been alot cheaper! What a bad experience, thank god I only spent 2 nights here. I recommend any other hostel than this one, it is worth spending extra money on another hostel.

They have sitting area in the rooftop but no Wi-Fi so we decided to move to a different hostel.

I advised the place that I will be arriving at 4 am and when I got there my bed/ room is not prepared. They made me go up and down to look for an available bed that I can sleep with my heavy luggage. The bed is okay tho the smell of bedsheet and blanket which is very thin smells like an old sheet that's not been in wash. Be careful if your in top bed I hit my head in the ceiling. No nearby convenient store that I can see. It's more suitable for a boarding house rather than a hostel I must say. They don't accept extended hours of stay they'll still charge you one day cost even for 3 hrs extension. For a cheap price you get what you paid for.

i love this hostel, because its comfortable, well cleaned and well equipped. hot shower, AC or fans, one owen in downstairs, wifi ok, hosts are very nice, good company, nice wiew from the building top, place to leave my bycycle. the only issue is noisy outside. prices compare to other hostels are low, perfect choice for shorter stays, but for monthly stays, actually you can find cheaper private room on facebook

DONT STAY IN THIS HOSTEL!!! WE HAD OUR WORSE NIGHTMARE HERE... we arrived to manila, spent the night there and 8 hours later in the morning 6.30 we woke up and all our valuable stuff was gone.. everything stolen from inside the room.. Passports, cameras, phones, ipad, credit cards, money, absolutely everything.. the receptionist told us he showed a room to a philippin guy, our room which we locked the night before, and then the guy said he would stay at the reception to wait for the room to be desocupied. The receptionist told him ok i will go buy some groceries for breakfast, leaving him fully free with no other security, to go back upstairs to the unlocked door of our room, and take all our belongings..Not only we have to pay for the stupidity and unconsciousness of the receptionist, but also we didnt get any kind of help or at least an appology from the manager. Very arrogant person! She didnt want to contact us with the owner, only thinking about herself and doing absolutely nothing to help us. Besides this we were trying to get video footage to catch the suspect but apperently it wasnt recording since a month ago. In total no security at all and bad bad management. By the mistakes of this hostel it gives us a horrible holliday in the Phillipines and loosing a lot of money. If the owner of 1RIVER CENTRAL might read this and it may concern him/her please contact the police investigation department in Makati on 8435877 and ask for Sir ACOSTA.

Don't be misled by the paid reviews and pictures. Rooms are awful, bathrooms are disgusting, noisy location, aircon and wifi not functioning. The staff is very rude. Not worth it. Go elsewhere.

As of now, it’s probably the best hostel for 300 pesos a night (which is the only reason I have returned several times) HOWEVER they plan on increasing the price to 450 which is way too high for what the hostel offers. It’s located directly on one of the busiest highways full of jeepneys and big trucks and all the windows are constantly open, so it’s extremely loud and polluted at ALL hours, even with earplugs. Secondly the beds are really small. Third, most of the people staying there and occupying the lower bunks are long-term local guests who don’t understand what it means to stay in a shared room (extremely loud, listening to music or videos without earphones, being obnoxiously loud and not caring at all about other guests) - so be prepared to either be on the top bunk (which shakes a lot) or the floor on a cot (same price as bed) Bathrooms aren’t the cleanest either and have no toilet seats. Also, it’s about 1.5 kilometre from anywhere meaningful so you can’t walk (unless you want to walk on a busy highway). If management wants to increase its prices but yet change nothing, their strategy won’t work. So many hostels around and in better locations for 450 or 500 per night. This place is worth 300 and that’s it. Unfortunately with those prices I will never come back here.

It's ok. What I appreciate the most is the housekeeper. She was very kind and caring towards me. Location wise, it is near a busy road so traffic noise is 24/7 but it also beneficial if you want to go around the city. Easy access for public transportation. It's clean. It's a hostel so expect sharing space with others. Price is a little high for what the hostel can offer.

(Translated by Google) Very noisy and a little space - these are unfortunately not changeable characteristics, but the missing Wi-Fi and 1 shower for the entire hostel completely spoiled the picture. It is such a good place for people who are looking for a budget yet clean with A/C and free wifi. It's just beside the road so it's easy to take a taxi, grab or jeepney as you like. I stayed for five nights and so far it was a good homey experience as along as you're okay with the vehicle's noise, then this is my recommended place for you.

a silent hostel in middle of the crowded center of Quezon City. the desk has 24h service which can be very helpful if you arrive late at night like me (3am) - theres a backyard with a small garden, where you can sit outside and drink your coffe while watching real trees in the center of Manila :P

Just at the back of the hostel, there's a community where you can buy foods and supplies. I suggest you do it in the morning. You can order foods online though. Grab foods delivery is all over the metro. The hostel is about 500m-walk away from EDSA. This is a perfect location for travelers who are on a budget and whose errands are just within Makati and BGC.

Spacious and affordable. You need to have a valid ID to be accepted in any of the accomodation. I think you need to deposit 500 or 1k but it is refundable. It is for security purposes. In a room there are few beds. I am not sure if they have a room for one user. I was in a bedspacer type of room. Safe place because there is a guard keeping you safe 24 hours. Staffs are also accomodating...This is not for the super rich people... This is for the backpackers type of people who can just easily adjust in the environment. I had a good sleep although I was not in an airconditioned room.

Don't stay here....awful place. We checked in and there were men lying about in their underwear on the beds in the dorm... they clearly lived there. Too many beds in one room. I didn't feel safe sharing a room with these people. Lockers had no locks so not safe at all. We didn't even stay the night... We got an uber straight out of there. Receptionist acts dumb to not understand you.

It s not so easy to arrive there. The closest train station is Guadalupe. After you need to walk 15 minutes or take a tuktuk. The neighborhood look a little creepy but not more than some place in the center of manila. We didn't had any problem even going around by night. The hostel is ok. You get for what you pay. There is 2 rooms per floor (1 for 4 peoples and 1 for 8 peoples) and 1 bathroom per floor. There is a rooftop. And wifi everywhere. It s clean. The rooms have aircon (ask who had the remote control when you arrived, because who could freeze if you are on the top bed) and lockers. The people at the reception are kind and will help you with a smile !

The manager, Gary, is always near by to help you and propose numerous sights to see, places to hang out, like night markets, reggae parties, etc. If you are lucky and it's on his way, you'll even get a ride by car to go to your destination. Other else, the neighbourhoor is not that friendly but Manilla is a monstruous city so it's not that bad actually. And the terrasse on the roof is so welcoming after a long walking day, even if you still hear the noisy street and take a breath of the jeepneys/motorcycles fuels. You can use the small kitchen, have a beer, watch tv (?!), or simply look at the tumultuous life on JP Rizal boulevard by night and by day. Don't be shy to ask Gary (if he's still the manager/owner?) some advises to go out.

I booked this hostel from Agoda. the first day, I got downstairs & the top mattress, to go up to the top mattress it took a lot of energy because the stairs were high. even so, the room was fine & the atmosphere was peaceful. the next day & also my last day in Manila (I checked-in again because the first day only one day & continued to the hotel), I got on the 2nd floor & the top mattress again (I had requested for the bottom mattress though). but it was fine, the room was cool, the atmosphere was peaceful, and serene. about the toilet & bathroom? no complain, it’s a hostel (toilet & shared bathroom of course), so I didn’t expect much, but I applaud it because it was clean & also can adjust the temperature of the shower. to 2 ate (those with long hair & short hair), I just want to say, you two are good people. maraming salamat po. the location of this hostel is right in front of a major highway, across from a gas station. minus : - the plugs weren’t international plugs, so I had to buy a new charger. - there was no elevator, so I had to take the stairs. at that time I was carrying a suitcase, but ate who has short hair helped (thanks!) - the top mattress wasn’t closed enough (the curtains didn’t reach the end) and other people can see. to ate who has short hair who helped in the kitchen & explained the price of the noodles, I’m so sorry I forgot to pay 56/65 pesos because the joyride driver was in a hurry to go. I’ll order 1 room ±240 pesos to replace it (I won’t staying). tips 🌻 don't take a suitcase. don't expect more because this is a hostel not a hotel. if you’re looking for new experiences and new friends, this hostel can be your option for only ±240 pesos/night.

I had a pleasant stay in the place. The staff are very accomodating, and the amenities are well maintained. If you're searching for a budget-friendly and a tourist-friendly place, 1 River Central Hostel is a great find. It is a mere walking distance between convenience stores (7/11) and train stations (MRT Guadalupe Station). Business districts, shopping centers and leisure parks are also within reach, via the MRT.
