Really wonderful museum full of fascinating artefacts. Lovely interactive sections that engage and entertain families. Meandering through the rooms was wonderful and it is easy to spend several hours taking it all in. The cafe square is absolutely stunning! Well worth a visit and can easily understand why it was voted Best European Museum of 2023!

(Translated by Google) Honestly, one of the most surprising museums in Valencia, it shows that they want to do things differently. I've been following the explosions and events for a long time, and every year, I end up enjoying every meter of the new exhibits. They do not leave you indifferent !!! Creativity and good taste are mixed with popular wisdom. No te dejan indiferente!!! Creatividad y buen gusto se mezclan con la sabiduría popular. Recomendable 100%. Un saludo

Covid-19 pandemic forced us to change our summer vacations plans. We decided to explore places we did not know in Comunitat valenciana. Our Global Learning Adventures took us to Museum of Prehistory of Valencia and "Museo de etnologia de Valencia", both located in the same historic building of "La Beneficiencia". This museum has cool displays if traditions, gadgets, culture, and activiites in Valencian community.

The museum is worth a visit as it displays the authentic lifestyle of valencianos. You’ll find lots of old stuff there, vintage but chic. Besides, there is a parroquia inside the museum. Muy bonita.

Went there to see the exibition "Las Fosas del Franquismo". It was a really nice/good exibition, but also mentally hard - even though it's old history. I'll come back to see rest of the museum at a later time.

(Translated by Google) Right now the museum is a very quiet and safe place. And with patent security measures. It is worth taking now to visit the exhibition "Missing or dying". A very interesting vision and reflection on death from the anthropological and scientific point of view. Highly recommended.

It took us 3 visits (free entry) to see everything. The Prehistory and Ethnology museums are both housed in this huge building, which has 6 courtyards and a nice leafy cafe. There are impressive displays of Prehistoric, Iberian, Roman and Visigoth items from the region. Labels are in Valenciano and Spanish but there are English explanation sheets in each room. The Ethnology part shows the settlement and character of Valencia in a series of creative displays which have clearly had a lot of money spent on them. There was just a handful of other visitors at the weekend in August.

I only got to visit one part of the museum (exhibition about the old and new Spain/València). But it was raining pretty heavy yesterday so our tour was postponed. This museum has a nice layout and the descriptions are written in Castilian, Valencian and English. There is also a café at the ground floor.

The museum is free (January 2024). The exhibition maybe is not astonishing, but modern part is really creative. They have cute children books in well adapted rooms. Plus the animation about human trying to catch a turkey was an absolute gem for my 5 yo ;)

Fascinating, and wonderfully bonkers place. We're led to understand that Valencia's Ethnology Museum is a fairly concise journey through the mindset of the average local over the ages. Presented in an ultra-modern series of settings that play out like a Willy Wonka fever dream, this certainly makes the mind boggle. I'm all for a learning space that engenders introspection, and upends the dynamic of the museum visitor as being merely a voyeur of carefully curated specimens. Far from it, this place makes you question the very meaning of human existence and creativity at every turn. So I say Hurrah, as isn't that what Ethnology's really all about? The museum seems to be either completely free to enter (it was for me, on a Friday in July) or a token €2, which is easily worth it. The museum shares a building, and various entry points, with its neighbour, the Prehistory museum (same ticket). You'll know at any point in the visit which of the two spaces you're occupying, as its neighbour is far more stoic, but equally worth a walk around.

Absolutely deserving of the Museum of the Year award! Incredible exhibition design decisions, each room gets better than the last one. My only regret was not being able to understanding everything, as not all exhibits had English blurbs. Paired with the Prehistoria Museum, coming here made for a perfect afternoon of cultural exploration.

Honestly a very underrated museum and it’s a hidden gem!!! I have learnt so many interesting fun facts about the Valencian community. Thoroughly enjoyed it and there is a cute cafe downstairs in the courtyard too. Very relaxing and informative museum🫶🏽

Amazing guided visit to the historic memorial to the mass graves of more than 2000 victims of Francoist repression, post civil war, have been found in the cemetery in Picassent Valencia. Reserve it in advance and go in a group.

One of the best museums I've ever been! Like really, I didn't expected that. The main exhibition was probably recently created and it was so interesting! Arrangement and interior design were on the highest level. Also temporary exhibitions about death and denying it was so great and emotional for me (permanent exhibition is rather "lighter"). I really, like really, recommend to visit is, especially that visit is like 3 Euro (sundays free). In building with another museom (Valencian History Museum).

Valencian museum of ethnology is quite fine. Entrance is 2 euros from Monday to Friday but on weekend it’s free. There is no queue, very quiet and nice place. If you are really interested in history and old stuff, it’s a nice place to go. You can also visit the museum of prehistory of valencia.

Plan no less as 2-3 hours (up to a half of day) for visiting of this great museum: etnological and historical in the same place. In one part, you see human evolution and history of poblation of the Iberian peninsula through fenicians etc. In another part, etnological objects of this region: posters, machines, cool installations. Beautiful films which you can enjoy on the way. Visiting on Sunday is free! P.s. lifehack: there is a cool PC where Zou can see your name written in old Iberian letters and send it as e-mail!

I really like the place, very diverse and interesting. Without knowing Spanish wouldn’t be so interesting, there are very little description in English.

  • 4/5 Olli H. 1 year ago on Google
A fun museum with less attention to information. Then again, the design of the exhibition is a sight in itself. Pity that the route through the museum is very tight: if you happen to be stuck behind a guided tour (and you will, as many school excursions come here), you'll have no way to pass.

Not as interesting as the prehistory museum but has English translations so it gets more stars from me. And the cafeteria is good too

One of the nicest museums in Valencia, a completely different approach towards ethnology, very nice and colourful. Is has common entry with the anthropological museum. Also an wonderful garden and nice cafetería. From April to September 2023, there's a series of concerts ethnomusic during the nights. Free entrance on weekends.
