The farm offer two tours and we chose the shorter one. For anyone allergic to dogs, this tour is the best one in Salento as the resident farm dog doesn’t accompany the group on the tour. You can let the staff know ahead of the tour and they’re supper helpful and understanding :) You can also visit their coffee shop at the end of the tour, which has spectacular views!

We did the 1.5 hours coffee tour, learned a lot and tasted delicious coffee! We took a private Jeep/Willy from Salento main square for 35K COP. That way we could do the tour at 11:00, before the large groups of tourist pour in using the public jeeps (that arrive on time for the 13:00 tour). At 13:30 the public jeep took us back, 6K COP. I do not recommend walking to the farm, it's easily a 2-3hr walk.

We came here for a basic coffee tour which was still more expensive than other tours in the area that we enjoyed a little more. But it is interesting to see a larger scale operation. The tour guides all speak perfect English and it's a nice experience with picking coffee beans which is a nice touch. I think the tour guide may have misspoken but they did say they only pay the pickers $0.01 per kilogram picked which I found odd. I'm sure this can't be true but would be terrible if it is! The coffee at the end of the tour was the worst we had anywhere but that could be down to our tastes. The tour was perhaps a little rushed and catered to large groups of international tourists. It was a very casual and comedic atmosphere on the tour. The coffee beans they sell on site are some of the more expensive ones we saw, perhaps you pay for the name as Ocaso is well regarded.

Did a few coffee tours while we were in Colombia and this was by far the best! David was hilarious, interactive and interesting to listen to. We were able to pick our own beans before learning about the process to get them into your cup. There was also a huge amount of information about how to make great coffee at home plus the cafe was iincredible for after the tour. Would hugely recommend!

I highly highly recommend this tour. Our guide Gabriela was wonderful. She took the time to explain every step to us in great detail. We appreciated her friendliness, her jokes but most importantly her knowledge on coffee and its production. My favourite parts of the tour were finding the prettiest coffee beans through the plantations and of course, the coffee tasting. Oh, and the cute dog and the breathtaking views. Definitely worth the visit.

I didn’t stay at El Ocaso. My family and I only did the 90 minute tour with CAMILA as our tour guide. This experience was amazing! our guide was so knowledgeable, kind and fun! Thank you for an unforgettable experience! Seeing everything that has to happen before we have that cup of coffee in our hands is eye opening and heartwarming!

I did the coffee tour here and it was fantastic! Our guide (I think her name was Daniela) was great in explaining the whole process of coffee production. She was friendly and funny and welcoming. It was cool to experience the process first-hand.. we even picked coffee berries right from their plantation. This is the best coffee tour I've done. At the end we also got to taste some yummy coffee. The hacienda itself is also beautiful. Gracias!

We took a premium coffee tour and it's really worth it. Especially trying the different coffees and methods to compare. Loved the experience and the location was bomb. Sara is the best guide, very cool and she slurps louder than anyone I've ever met haha ❤️

Great coffee tour! Our guide David was wonderful, he makes the whole experience come to life while entertaining the crowd. Recommended for people who want to do something different and get to know a little bit more about great coffee.

This coffee farm is located near Salento( only an hour walk downhill). A perfect place to learn more about coffee and coffee production. I took part in the traditional tour, which lasted 1,5 hour. We went to the plantation area, picked coffee beans and planted as well! Our guide, David was entertaining, funny and also very knowledgeable. At the end of the tour we could taste the coffee, which was delicious!

The premium coffee tour with Daniel was amazing! We got a detailed explanation of the entire process: from the cultivation, harvesting, drying, and roasting. Then we went into the coffee lab to taste different beans that underwent different processes (natural, honey and washed). All in all, I highly recommend the tour! We are so grateful to Daniel, Camilo and the rest of the team for sharing their knowledge and passion for coffee.

There are a lot of coffee tours to pick from and I'm so glad we picked this one. It was the best! The guided tour through the coffee fields, learning about the cultivation process, and tasting the freshly brewed coffee was truly delightful. The passion and dedication of the farmers reflected in the exceptional quality of the coffee beans. A must-visit for coffee enthusiasts seeking a deeper understanding of their favorite brew's journey from farm to cup.

I highly recommend their coffee tour! Andres was a lovely guide who explained everything about the coffee process with so much energy and enthusiasm. It lasted just over an hour and a half, which was a perfect length for me. There's also a nice cafe on site where you can indulge in some more java after the tour. Great time! Thorough tour.

The visit itself was pretty nice. Got a lot of information and good experience. The road to the farm was pretty bad and they seemed only cared about carrying us there by jeep but we had to wait there for more than an hour for the next jeep to bring us back to town. We participated in the 10:30 tour and got back around 15:00. They should pay more attention to their guests.

The best coffee tour ever! Our guide Jonathan was so friendly and fun and answered all of our questions informatively and with a smile. I didn’t realise how much there was to learn about coffee- or how badly I was making mine- until now❤️ highly highly recommend this tour! We paid $40,000 COP for an hour and a half and it was perfect! We got to pick our own coffee beans and plant them and after the tour we prepared and drank incredible coffee!

I got their traditional coffee tour, which was 47,000 COP. It was more expensive than other tours, because some of them started at 30,000. I purchased the tickets at the Willy station, the day I was going. And the price included a return transportation on Willy’s from Salento to coffee farm. If you want the full 3 hour coffee tour, I suggest you book in advance as it’s limited space and they book up early. I am not sure about the price for that, but it might be close to 100,000 from what I heard in passing. Our tour guide was AMAZING. Spoke perfect English, was funny, and walked us through the entire process. They also tell you can keep your backpacks in storage for the duration of the tour if you prefer not to carry it with you. You also get to try a coffee at the end. I haven’t tried any of the other coffee farms, but this was a lively experience and would be happy to recommend it. And it’s a cute area to enjoy. They have a cafe with a cute sitting area. Also, they had this sign showing that the Santa Rita waterfall was an hour by foot. I didn’t try this, so I can’t confirm if it’s a marked trail. But pointing this out in case someone wants to make a day of it.

Did the basic coffee tour with Jonathan. Amazing experience. His English was excellent, he was funny and most importantly he was knowledgeable. We learnt a lot and really enjoyed ourselves. You can buy tickets for the tour and the Willy ride from the booth in the main square. No need to pre book, just turn up and pay. Would advise going early to be in a smaller group for the tour. You'll probably have to wait a while to be taken back to Salento due to a lack of Willy's returning (we waited over an hour) so be mindful if you have things planned on the afternoon.

We did a tour here a couple of days ago and had a lovely time. I appreciated how interactive it was and that we actually were able to pick coffee to better learn about the process. A couple pieces of feedback that I think would help on the tour 1) Speak slower. Even as a native English speaker, I had a hard time sometimes keeping up with our guide and what he was saying 2) Pause for more than 2 seconds after asking “do you have any questions?” I think people do have questions, but need some time to think (10 seconds would suffice) it might feel difficult to wait, but as a teacher, it’s one of the best things you can do to make sure your audience is engaged :) The cafe and finca itself are lovely! Definitely worth a visit!

We just had the English speaking coffee tour (no overnight stay, so cannot rate that) three days ago with Antony. His English was excellent, very good french, lovely vibe and it was a cool experience. Coffee bean picking, learning and coffee preparing plus tasting. Would recommend it. Best regards from Germany ☕🙂

A tour that was definitely worth it! We had a great experience with our guide Daniel. Recently we made quite some different tours and it's really the guide who makes or breaks your experience. Daniel is just a really great guide, who made our tour informative, exciting and simply fun! We started from walking the farm, getting to know all different species of coffee plants, harvesting cherries, up to drying them and the whole process along the way until the coffee ends up in our cup. At the end of the tour we had a small olfactory and gustatory game, which was just interesting and fun. At first, I thought that Daniel is holding a scripted presentation. Very soon I've realized that he really knows his stuff. There were many different questions about different aspects of coffee processing (level of caffeine, cold brew, and many more) and also other plants we saw as well. He could answer all of these and explain everything very well. Thanks Daniel!

We came for the 90 minute coffee tour in English and had Andres as our guide. We felt like it was just the right amount of time to gain an understanding of everything that goes into turning cherrys off the tree into coffee at home. Andres was great. Super knowledgeable and took his time to make sure he hit all the points. My girlfriend was the top picker. Her efforts were rewarded by extra cuddles with Emilio.

I did the premium tour and learned a lot! Focus is on the production and aromas and a little on preparation. Worth it if you’re a coffee lover. Unfortunately they only had one type of coffee in stock for purchase and the 2pm English tour ran over so that we didn’t make the coffee shop before it closed and had to order a private Jeep to pick us up. Last Jeep is at 6pm. They should leave the coffee shop open until 6pm so that people finished the last tour can enjoy it and wait until the 6pm Jeep.

Absolutely delightful coffee finca tour. Our guide Daniela was knowledgeable, funny, and all around great. The coffee tasting and brewing tutorial was as complex as a wine tasting. Highly recommend, even if coffee is not your thing.

Thank you so much David for this coffee tour. The animation that he put in this tour was amazing and we loved it with my boyfriend. This is a really good coffee tour in Salento for 30k$ per person for 1h30 of pure joy and laugh. The degustation is also a real plus and really well explained.

I did the premium coffee tour last week, and Jonathon was our guide. I really enjoyed the tour and learned so many different things about the entire coffee making process, and the location is beautiful. The coffee tasting was one of my favorite parts of the tour. Jonathon was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job teaching us about the history, process, and different types of coffee. He was an excellent guide!

I had the pleasure of visiting a remarkable coffee farm that left me impressed with it’s professionalism and commitment to showcasing the complete journey of coffee production, from fruit to cup. Each step was explained in detail. The tour commenced with an introduction to the cultivation of coffee. Knowledgeable guide walked us through the intricacies of coffee farming. We were given a behind-the-scenes look at the processes, including hand-picking ripe coffee cherries. At the end of the tour, we sampled a coffee which was freshly roasted on site.

I can only speak for the coffee tour, but can fully recommend it. I did my tour with Antony and it was basically a private tour as I have been the only English speaking visitor. Nevertheless, Antony did very well, explained the process of coffee very interestingly and we had some good interaction with questions and answers. I have learnt a couple of hints for my own brewing skills and will apply them soon :) So, well done overall! And the coffee is tasty 👍

This is a review of the coffee tour (the 90 minute one): Jonathan provided a wonderful tour. He answered all our questions with much knowledge and detail. The tour itself has a great format, from the coffee tree grove to roasting to drinking freshly brewed coffee. The Ocaso space is also a great place to chill with a coffee and watch the hummingbirds and stray dogs.

The tour of the coffee farm was awesome! Antoni was a really good guide, who spoke perfect English and good French! He explained everything very well and answered all our various questions. The visit was interactive and we had a lot of fun ! We could reach the farm by foot from Salento (1h to go and 1h15 to come back). The coffee was excellent. I highly recommend this experience.

Great coffee tour provided by David at El Ocaso . David was fun and full of knowledge. He made sure we understand the process of coffee making and we’re able to make the difference between good and bad coffee. Beautiful place as well. Great experience all in one.

We had a great coffee tour there (picking coffee, learning about coffee production, looking at the entire process). The tour guide did his tour in English and his English was really great which is not a given here. You will need to take a Jeep from Salento to get there but they only cost 9000 COP for a round trip.

Not only for coffee lovers. Great experience through one of Colombia's most known jewels! It's coffee! Andres was the best guide we could get and his own personal perspective adds a huge value to the experience!

Had the standard coffee tour today with Juan (with the long hair) and it was great fun. The plantation is beautiful and great to visit. Juan was very knowledgeable and had great passion. He had a great sense of humour which brought out the best of the group. The tasting was great and easy to recommend this tour. Great price also for $30,000 PP. Easy to get the jeep from Salento centre for $6,000 PP return.

Wonderful coffee tour in beautiful, tranquil surroundings. I highly recommend the premium tour if you love coffee. Our guide Camila was clearly passionate and very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the different processing styles, and had an in depth tasting. The finca grows a number of different varietals and there is a small shop if you want to take home some beans. Overall highly recommended.

Highly recommend if you like drinking coffee and/or learning how it's made! The premium tour was worth the extra $ and included a very detailed coffee tasting including instructions. Our guide Daniel was funny and knowledgeable and taught us a ton about coffee!

My friends and I had a wonderful time touring the farm with our guide, Juliana! Getting there by Jeep and getting to pick our own coffee beans while learning all about the process was awesome. A must do when in the coffee axis :)

Beautiful coffee farm located in the hills near Salento. Tour by Juan E. was amazing. Funny guy and his English was excellent. Don't forget to enjoy a coffee beer at the bar after the tour, views are great!

Had a premium (longer) tour with Daniel and it was such an inspiring experience! Daniel was a great guide, with perfect English, passed so much information about coffee and the whole process of cultivating and brewing it, yet in very light and entertaining way. This gave me really new look at how coffee can be enjoyed! Definitely recommend to take the premium tour, it's worth it.

  • 5/5 Mario T. 1 year ago on Google
A really nice place, beautiful garden overlooking the valley. And all the birds, special! The rooms and breakfast are very good. The PREMIUM coffee tour was amazing. So much information especially about the preparation of coffee, with hands-on demonstration and tasting

  • 5/5 Kin V. 8 months ago on Google
We didn’t stay here, we only did the Premium coffee tour. It was one of our favourite experiences of our whole Colombian trip. 3 hours is a long time for someone who doesn’t care about coffee, but for those who have come to the region to expand their knowledge of some of the best coffee in the world this tour is a must. It was easy to get to as it was a beautiful one-hour walk from Salento, but there are also Willy’s directly from the main square of Salento to the Finca. Our guide Nicholas was friendly, funny and highly informative and we learnt so much that we will be able to take back home with us, in addition to all the excellent coffee we purchased :)
