What a wonderful experience at the Dürkheimer fass. This was my second visit here, and each time, it was remarkable. The food was spectacular. The service is awesome and friendly. The drink I recommend is the Schörle it's the drink of choice in the region

For a location that sees lots of international traffic, I wasnt too fond of it. The pork tenderloins I ordered were tough, and the prices were crazy high. My wife and daughter both seemed to like their experience, but for me, I'll find another location. For what I ordered and for the service, it just seemed too much and too little.

Great for ppl with breathing medical issues. Salt vipes come spraying down on you as you walk through this place.

Our greeting and service was fantastic! Call ahead to put your name on the list, and it might be fun to request the wine barrel wall booths. We sat at an open table because the booths were all full. Our server recommended the Rhineland Pfalz sampler platter. It was delicious. We topped it off with desserts of apple strudel with ice cream and Riesling wine sorbet.

Although we couldn't eat in the restaurant inside the bass (barrel, popular for private events) we seated in the terrace. We had only an ice coffee which was very nice, the waiters were very polite. A good stop whatever one is doing in the area.

This is a tourist attraction as well as a good „touristy“ restaurant. However you can just take a photo and go without spending any money in the restaurant. ;-p

I go there every time I am in Germany. Love everything about it. Was quite disappointed with the waitress this time. She was very unfriendly and had no patience. It was quite uncomfortable for all of us. But apart from that, love the place.

What is the point of advertising a restaurant inside the biggest barrel in the world if the barrel itself is closed and only the side room and outdoor is open for dinner? The specific plate I ordered was truly flavourless, adding salt I could only partially fix it, still I only ate half of the pork small portion as I was not getting any flavour in exchange of my chewing effort, I congratulated myself for not ordering normal size.

A popular and great option for out-of-town guests to experience great local cuisine and wine.

Homey classic German decor. Great generous portions. Best waitress we have ever had in Germany. The whole experience was memorable. Worth at least a couple of return trips.

The Heidelberg experience, Part 2! The Pfalz region is world renowned for its Wines and all that accompanies this most enjoyable of beverages ! Naturally it needs to supersize things such as the Worlds Largest Barrel! (Attached is the full story) An idea of Fritz Keller that came to fruition in 1934, this Giant Barrel has become a tourist attraction of course! Unlike its little brother, the large Barrel at Schloss Heidelberg, this one was never filled with wines! It contains a function room on 2 levels! For the daily needs a Restaurant called the Bütt, is attached to its right side, serving very traditional Pfälzer (Palatinate) specialities! The food was pretty good, with the exception of the fried Camembert, bland as anything & probably bought in, as well as the soup, with liver dumplings that had its taste removed! Flat & boring! The main dish however was a very typical composition called Pfälzer Teller , rather decent with various cuts/preparations of local specialities! Nevertheless. An interesting place to visit or even make a detour! Thank you @norbertgirnth for taking us! Food was good, staff friendly. A bit pricey due to it being a tourist attraction. Wine probe #4 was a good taste of some of the local red wines and you can buy the bottles you taste.

Amazing German cuisine, courteous staff, good ambience make it a perfect setting for weekend lunch/dinner. Would recommend to reserve a table in advance. A must visit place! You can also plan a wine tour of the region.

One of the best beirgartens in the area. I try to stop by on each trip. Great sampler platter and definitely great schnitzel! Amazing ambience and location. Quiet area, great food. Keep in mind that this place is definitely not smoke free and depending upon the breeze if the smoke lingers.
