Overrated to a large extent. I am a traveller who is always in the look for some authentic cuisine of the place. After some search, I zeroed in on this place as it was near to my place of stay and boasted of local cuisine. Some reviews also mentioned that this place has the best fried potatoes. Now, let me put up the details. The restaurant is nicely located and Google maps is the best guide. You can easily see a few guys smoking just outside the restaurant. We did not need a reservation and I guess it's perfectly fine to plan for a walk-in. As soon as we entered, we looked for someone who can help in settling us down a table. There is no reception as such and with luck I found someone who helped us find a table for the night. They have a English menu. We ordered a Schnitzel and a large salad with fried turkey meat. The decor is good for a nice evening hangout. Each table has a cute little candle to freshen up your mood. They don't have regular water. So, you gotta buy a bottle of water which tasted more like sparkling water without the fizz. They provided a salad starter for free which seemed pretty interesting. The fried potatoes were too hot when served. The chef doesn't have an idea about the temperature at which food must be served. You don't give it right out of the pan. The pork in the Schnitzel was too dry. It should be rather juicy. The coating could easily break down which should not happen. But, the salad was a big disappointment. It was exactly the same as the starter salad with additional fried turkey and bleu d'avergene cheese. Dressing also similar. All this for 30 euro did not seem right at all (water for 5euro). No spaetzel on the menu. No cream sauce servings. Not the authentic German cafe experience I had in other cities. Do give it a pass and look for something better .

Great service and great food. The vegetarian option (according to my friend) was great and had a lot of options. My bratwurst, sausage, and Jager were all fantastic. It also wasn't too loud or quiet.

This is a really great place for vegetarians to try meat-free versions of traditional German foods. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the service was great, too. Thank you! (P.S. Use Google Lens to easily translate the German menu photos into English)

A delightful neighbourhood eatery in Weststadt. Lots of typical German fare AND... a great selection of vegetarian food. Look at these veggie Bratwürste 😋 . Very pleasant service too.

What a wonderful place to get an authentic German meal. We were the only foreigners in the place and were treated like family. I read reviews of long waits and no credit card machine before going and neither were true. We were served quickly and the food was fantastic. At the end, we paid with credit card. The fried sausage with potatoes was phenomenal. We spent €40 for dinner and a drink. Highly recommended.

Great food, great prices, patrons are great. We spoke no German but the waiter and table next to us made recommendations on Wnflish that turned out amazing.

Very good food but crazy long waiting time to be served for our dinner (more than 1h).

A cozy, authentic, and affordable place in a Heidelberg. It offers traditional German dishes. The indoor seating is cozy and cute, while outdoor eating is nice on warm days.

Great English menu that helped explain some items! Nice staff very accommodating. Two kids 2, 4 and they have high chairs. Love the kid menu too!

We visited this restaurant as an advice from our local friends, and I would definitely try so many dishes. Good prices, tasty food and of course excellent beer. 👌🏻

Lovely restaurant in Weststadt. Went together with friends for dinner. The food was delicious and the staff polite and friendly. I had a schnitzel with horseradish and potatoes with a side salad. Hope to come again.

Quaint. Food is good. Had the schnitzel. I was very appreciative that they were willing to speak English. But the waitress told me my meal included a salad and it did not (I think the horseradish version does maybe?). Definitely try to book in advance. But I don't think you can do it any other way than calling them directly.

Nice menu, great selection of German classics (sautéed potatoes of different kinds and various salads, also many vegetarian options). Excellent beer to go with it and cosy setting.

Super friendly staff that helped out two helpless Americans even when the language barrier was a bit of an issue. Food was excellent and is a unique local spot to try some very traditional German food.

Tried it already 2 times and never disappointed! Nice atmosphere inside and outside in the little terrace. The waiters are friendly and helpful. Schnitzel is pretty good but also tried the pork with gravy and mushrooms, which is quite special! Also good prices!

I would say this is a good pub to have some beer at Heidelberg if you are a turist as me here. It seems that also locals like this place. Reservation for Saturday evening is recommended. Selection of German draught beers as well as the beers in bottle. Accompanied by decent food which is mainly variety of both salty and sweet pancakes dishes or fried potato dishes.

The food is good but the service way too slow...we waited almost 1h for a sauerkraut with only sausages to cook... They also take only German bankcards, which is a shame.

Delicious food. Very charming staff. Generous helpings. Plenty for the carnivores, but plenty for the vegetarians too. Really good.

I love this place. I come here for special events with my family, like my birthday, graduation or celebrating other things. I love the food, the portions are big and it tastes very good. The waitresses are also very nice and kind, not hectic or stressed or anything like that. No need to wait for anything too long either. What I love most is the atmosphere. It’s very cozy and feels homey with sparse, warm lighting and candles. In the summer, it’s very comfortable to eat in the little bamboo-wall area they have in front of the restaurant. I could live there. My favorite restaurant in Heidelberg. Would definitely recommend ❤️
