The castle is beautiful to look at from the outside and inside. Entrance fee is reasonable. There isn't much on offer in the castle itself. Many rooms are locked. What you see is a bit carelessly furnished. Almost no information on the premises. We were very disappointed with the castle. The gardens are very beautiful from the outside as well as the inside. I don't have to go there a second time.

Kind of disappointing experience… All of the other reviews gave me really high expectations for this castle in particular. Was a let down. Had to wait 40 minutes before we could enter, arrived 6 minutes late on our time slot, so we could only view the castle for 14 minutes, all the while a guard was breathing down our neck making sure we left precisely after those 14 minutes had passed. The castle is absolutely beautiful, but only very few rooms are open to the public. I understand why there are time slots, absolutely, but the way it is handle here is horrible, especially to other castles who orchestrated the system a whole lot better. Had as much time to explore as we wanted, and still kept to all the COVID-19 restrictions. Again, the castle and its garden are breathtaking. There are some beautiful interior pieces, but you have 30 seconds to look at them. It’s only €5 for a ticket, so it’s worth it if you are aware that you have a very limited time to view the castle and really have to make a reservation! Also don’t forget to validate your parking ticket… We totally did (that’s our bad…)

A very beautiful castle, very well-kept gardens. Great view of the Rhine from above. Entrance fee €5 per person, about a 10- to 15-minute walk from the parking lot to the top, steep to the top but worth it. Remaining time approx. 1 hour. Parking ticket will be deducted from the entrance ticket.

One of the most beautiful castle complexes on the Rhine. See pictures. Parking spaces are available below and at affordable prices. The climb itself has many interesting points to offer. Highly Recommended

The palace is located on a hill which means you need to hike all the way up. If you are into steep walking/hiking and do not want to click pictures in between then you can easily reach in 15 mins. However, if you don't hike usually and would also like to click some pictures along the way then it would take around 25 mins. The tickets to the castle are for 5 euros which can be paid either by cash or card. There the person is going to tell you to wait at the gallery for the guided tour as soon as you enter. Keep in mind that you are only able to access the interior of the castle with the guided tour as the guide has keys to the rooms otherwise the doors are locked and you can only explore the outer garden and balconies. Taking pics inside is not allowed and the tour takes around 20 to 25 mins. Do remember to ask for an English brochure at the entrance if you don't speak German so that you can read the description for the rooms in it while getting the tour. Also there are no eating options available next/inside the castle as it is situated in between a hiking trail.

After walking a windy road leading up the mountain, you reach this fairytale castle with a gorgeous view of the river. We explored the castle and thoroughly enjoyed it. What you see in the castle isn't ancient, but still very interesting. Parking garage is at the foot of the mountain and is easy to find and is at a reasonable price.

It’s a beautiful castle with stunning view of Rhine river and a very well manicured garden. I was imagining a beautiful princess living here waiting for her prince to arrive on a white horse. On modern days you either drive here or take bus 670 from the central station. If you do not drive, once take off the bus, there is an approximately 15 minutes walk to the castle. But the walking itself is very enjoyable with lush forest and lovely birds singing. The entrance fee is only €5 which I found is very cheap given the very well maintained place. The staff were very friendly. It’s a must visit castle if you are in the Rhine River valley.

Very pretty castle overlooking the Rhein under active restoration. The road leading up to the castle was closed for cars, but there is parking just at the base and it is a gorgeous walk. Self-guided tours of the interior rooms are available for five euros and take about 20 minutes.

A very impressive facility. Great and interesting exhibition. Very reasonable entry prices. There is no restaurant up here. Toilets were very clean.

It’s a good walk to the castle, but the path is paved. Castle visit was 10€ for a family ticket. Nice bathrooms. Beautiful garden, beautiful view of the Rhein. Nice pamphlet on the history of the castle and what you see on the visit. Parking garage at the bottom of the hill.

Went in May 2023. Great to see the castle, its gardens and views! So it was totally worth it! I don't have car, but it was easy to go from Koblenz to Stolzenfeld by bus (30/30min, a trip about 15min). The way from the streets to the castle is easy (they have pavement and stairs, with tracks as alternative), but I don't recommend for people with disability. But you can reach the castle by car. 5€ as entrance fee when I went. You can enter the castle, see its surroundings and views by yourself. You can't go into the rooms inside without a guide. When inside, you can't take pictures, and have to use the huge slippers they give to you. What I didn't liked was the staff. The reception just gave me a panmphlet and said "go fast, the tour is starting", without explaining anything. I reached a group with a guide already explaining everything only in German. So I didn't know how anything worked (if I could walk without him, if it had english tours). In the middle of the inside tour I asked the guide about english tour, but he affirmed in a unpolite way that they don't have and that's why I received the pamphlet. Only then I saw that I could find some numbers and follow the rooms to read reaally brief explanations, shorter than what the guide provides. In the end, really liked the castle, the gardens, the views and surroundings. Didn't like the tour inside the rooms, but still worth the visit!

From the foot of the castle a path of approx. 1.2 km leads up to the castle. The path is wide, paved and winds up the mountain. The climb is significantly more strenuous (especially in summer) than the descent. From the castle you have a fantastic view up and down the Rhine. The entrance fee per adult: 5.00. The castle can be visited on your own, without a guide. Various rooms with various pieces of furniture can be visited. It's a shame, a few explanations about the rooms and residents would be nice. The exhibition could certainly be optimized in a positive way - perhaps with a little decoration other than just the furniture!? The castle garden is a real little gem, beautifully laid out, well maintained and absolutely worthy of a castle.

Such a beautiful castle! Beware, you have to walk up a fairly steep unsteady long driveway to get to it. Be prepared for that hike. If you do decide to walk up, the views and history are breathtaking! Highly recommend!

A very romantic castle definitely worth of 4 hours of your time. The parking house in the village on the other hand is so tiny only the best drivers will get in, park and get out. Give yourself a medal when you'll leave without a scratch;-).

Beautiful view, and the route is great almost 1.5 km walk slope is gentle and well maintained. If you want to go by car then it's great you can take car to the top and front of castle 🏰. This castle is renovated with beautiful infrastructure. They cost 5€ per person and they also tour (in German only)

What a beautiful experience! Wear comfy shoes as there’s a bit of a hike to go up to the entrance. To enter the rooms, they provide shoe covers to protect the original floors. Public parking is at the bottom of the hill.

A very, very beautiful castle. The interiors (you are not allowed to take photos inside) and the gardens - beautiful! We were previously at Eltz Castle and were a bit disappointed. Stolzenfels Castle is much more worth seeing.

Way too steep for someone who does not hike often. Waiting times too long and part of the castle is under renovation.

Nice castle near Koblenz with a great views to the Middle Rhine valley. Didn’t get inside because of COVID-19 restrictions, but still worth a visit. There’s a nice (but not so obvious) walking path that leads directly to the castle walls with a vantage point. A lot of parking possibilities (including free of charge places and a parking garage).

Chic castle, very nice walk in the sun to the castle, the complex is beautifully designed, the interior is very informative, the leaflet at the entrance is sufficient and €5 for children and adults is cheap.

Please note that the last entry is at 15:30 on workdays (incl. Fridays) while castle is open till 16:30. We came at 15:35 to see already closed ticket office. Nowhere at the bottom they say about the last admission at 15:30, this is very disappointing, because we came from another city and for nothing. The cast seems beautiful from outside though

If it's imposing and gothic, I'm all over it. Stolzenfels didn't dissapoint. Brilliant views of the river, well kept gardens. The rooms inside would almost be forgettable if it wasn't for the ridiculous slippers they make you wear over your shoes.

Very nice small castle reachable by bike, car or bus from Koblenz. Bus stop and the parking area are located at the foot of the hill. From there it is an easy walk up to the castle. Amazing views of the Rhein valley also.

Beautiful castle, lovely place to visit. But castle guides are a little too ‘German’….

The castle has been perfectly preserved and is maintained to a very high standard. The regional government invested heavily in its restoration in recent years and the rooms and garden are immaculate. It is a pretty stiff walk up the hill from the main car park and would be difficult for someone with mobility problems. The rooms are laid out over several floors which are accessed by stairs. There are no refreshments except from a vending machine and nothing close by in the village. The views from the outside walls of the surrounding area are stunning and give a real idea of the strategic position of the castle. It was highly recommended by German friends and is well worth visiting if in the area.

Nice but lengthy walkway up to the Castle, with plenty of trees providing good shade while walking. Walking is the only possibility to get up to the Castle which is rewarded with a wonderful view up and down the Rhine River Valley as well as Burg Lahneck on the opposite side, where the Lahn River flows into the Rhine River.

Stolzenfels Castle— Originally fell into ruin over the years already, but Prussian Crown Prince Frederick William IV had the castle restored in a romantic, neo-Gothic style. This became a symbol of the Romantic Movement in Germany. From the castle, the Rhine River can also be seen. Parking closes by 5pm, so make sure to drive out before the time or your car is locked in. You can go uphill to the castle by walk or car. But car can only enter uphill on or before 4pm.

Super friendly staff, very child friendly they had a small puzzle search for the kids where they had to write where they found the puzzle pieces, the gardens are amazing the view is breathtaking, they have special family prices, you can walk around the castle and also go inside, my kids 4 and 9 found it great, highlight for the kids was seeing a wild lizard and lots of butterflies

While the Stolzenfels castle is impressive and is perched ominously over the Rhine, it competes with so many other ruins and castles in the area.

Beautiful castle. Very intact, beautiful garden and surroundings. Great walk to the castle (take care of you’re not that mobile, it’s quite a climb). Very impressive view of the Mosel river.

It's currently closed. But for people willing to just wander around, can take a walk adoring the dense green forest around. Peaceful environment💚💚

We visited the castle with our 3 kids (3,7,9,) and we all loved it. We arrived by bus until the stop Schlossweg and walked up through a wonderful wild "garden/forest". We downloaded the App digiwalk and had 6 stations on the way up to the castle where we could read some interesting facts about the garden and the castle. Entrance fee was very good. Family ticket for 10€ and the kids got a quiz where they had to search for puzzle pieces on the castle grounds. Castle itself is very nice, especially the garden and the view. Would definitely recommend it.
