Jama Masjid, Aligarh Muslim University is one of the oldest structures established in the campus. The construction of mosque was started in 1879 by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (the founder of the University) and was declared open on 1 February 1915. The mosque is almost prototype of the elegant Jama Masjid of Shahjahanabad, Delhi. The only difference being in scale and magnitude. Jama Masjid is having three multifoilated domes resting on the drum.  In addition, it has two lofty minarets, longitudinally stripped with red sandstone and Dhaulpur stone. The white marble strip, on which the calligraphic inscription from Holy Quran is engraved, enhances the central Iwan. The interior is highly ornamented with white Araish plaster having Calligraphic inscriptions from the Holy Quran and golden floral patterns.

Jama Masjid The foundation stone of the Mosque was laid by Justice Syed Mahmood in 1879. Though the structure was completed by 1912, the Mosque was declared open on 1 February 1915 after final touches were completed with the assistance of Haji Muhammad Ahmad Saeed Khan of Bhikampur who donated Rs 8,200 for it. The stones adorning the central archway were carved by Qazi Ismatullah Yaqoot Raqam who also worked on the calligraphy at the Taj Mahal. Surah Al-Fajr of the Holy Quran is engraved around the main arch. The Mosque is modelled after the Jama Masjid of Delhi.

Sir Syed Mosque is a mosque located in the heart of Aligarh Muslim University campus. It is located inside Sir Syed Hall. The tomb of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan is also enclosed within the walls of the mosque. The construction of Jama Masjid was started in 1879 by the founder of the University, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and completed in January 1915. The design of the mosque resembles the huge Mughal Badshahi Mosque of Lahore.

The mosque is almost prototype of the elegant Jama Masjid of Shahjahanabad, Delhi. Experience: Beautiful architecturual design and it contains a small pool in the middle of the arena where you can perform ablution. Proper arrangements for performing prayers. Most beautiful architecture design in Aligarh

A fabulous mosque of the Aligarh Muslim University. Situated in the Sir Syed Hall. Sir Syed Hall formerly known as Mohammadan Anglo Oriental College was the first college built by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan in the late 19th century. But in 1920 it got the title of a university. There is also the mausoleum of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan inside the mosque.
