Under staffed and tables left unattended. Oval tables wobbly as. Dangerous! However, that was the table set for us. Have dinned here on many occasions This visit was shocking. Could not order a drink while waiting as there were no glasses available according to the female bar attender. Waited another 20mins. I invited family thinking it would be great place to dine at. My meal was boiled not roasted as I expected. Pork belly? Male waiter was great host. Top service from him. Would recommend somewhere else. Price on menu is not inclusive of gst. Was charged $32 at the end of the meal!!! Rip off!

Huge portions and good was decent for being near the airport. Convenient location and ample parking. Not a huge fan of the buffalo wings.

Nice little gastro pub next to the airport. Staff were lovely and the service fast. Starter size calamari was a good size and not chewy. Small but reasonable selection of beers on tap

Quick lunch before a flight. The food tastes like what it should at a gastro bar so no complaints there. Had the chicken fettuccini and one of the salads on their lunch set. Fettuccini was super creamy but I guess some people might like a creamier fettuccini than others. Lots of space around lunch so didn’t have any issues getting a table.

The atmosphere was well thought out. Great flow from inside to an outside setting 👌 Love the energy and vibe from the beautiful staff it made the food tastier😆 Cost wise, it is reasonable, considering the portion ratio and taste so overall it's a 5 star experience. Keep it up, Szimpla. We will certainly come back for more, plus we were promised a dance 💃 floor😅 oh and that Thai beef salad was the bomb, it was a Fiesta in the mouth🤣

Visited during an overnight stay at the Ibis at Auckland Airport. Service - first class. Prompt, attentive, courteous. Food - standard fare, but well presented and really tasty. Ambience - a mix of covered outdoor tables, high tables and larger standard tables to cater to all group sizes and events. Good range of wines and beers (the Tuatara is my new fave)

We celebrated my mother in laws birthday last night. The service and food was soooo good 10/10. Great staff, very welcoming & top service. We plan on many more enjoyable moments here.

I ate here about 7:30 p.m. At 8 I asked for the dessert menu. The kitchen had closed. I mentioned that it was supposed to stay open until 9 p.m. The waitress thought they had run out of food. What a joke - I'd rather get Uber Eats than eat here again - at least I'd get a full meal. Ah well, off to the supermarket over the road to see what I can find.

Reasonably quick service, good vibe with some music helping soften some louder customers. Pricing a little higher than expected for quality and portion size same with drinks. Good friendly customer service, good banter and smiles.

Went here for the first time with friends and was pleasantly surprised. The food was well worth the money. I ordered the chicken schnitzel on mash with salad, DELICIOUS! And the schnitzel was huge, I was definitely getting my money's worth. Good service, good atmosphere. Loses a star because the meal came with mushroom sauce but was a really small portion of it for a huge chicken. Didn't even cover an 8th of the chicken size which was disappointing but not enough for me to not want to get it again. Will definitely come back!

Setting and atmosphere is relaxing/welcoming. Staff chirpy, and friendly. It didn't take long to get served. Table reservation was made for 3 adults at 11.30am. Food is great but did take awhile to come out, we ended up being quite hungry.

Great place out by the airport with good prices special lunches under $20 house wine $10 Food is at PubGrub standards my Thai beef salad was nice & tasty (although a wee bit chewy) and BLT predictable . Staff were lovely service was good. Loads of parking we checked in and the went here till we had to go thru to flight - then just drive n drop no need to pay for parking at the airport or that long walk…

Nice place to eat if your staying at the ibis next door. Food was lovely, staff were nice but not very attentive had to find someone each time we wanted a drink or order desserts etc.. lovely vibe

Nice place for groups, families or business meetings. They have 7am breakfast. Had the 'Open Green Omelette' with pork sausages and mushrooms as a side. Omelette was very filling on its own. Other dishes ordered: eggs benedict and belgian waffles and bacon. Spacious interior with a great atmosphere. My only issue is the service could improve. The place seems understaffed therefore a long wait for our meals. Tried to order coffee to-go after paying the cashier who was the same man that waited on us, that he's too busy yet the place wasn't crowded or full of customers?? Not being able to provide a service because you're too busy is inexcusable and made no sense at all. Very unprofessional.

Amazing food, recommend the garlic bread (will fill you up)!!! And the chips there the best chips I have ever tasted.

Underwhelming experience. We popped in for some food before a flight. The whole place was empty except for three other diners across two tables. I asked to sit outside but the male who greeted us (appeared to be the owner) said there was no room outside because of bookings and were guided to the stools with a bar leaner as a table. We had the chicken sliders which were overpriced we felt and the hot chips which were great. The atmosphere felt off and no one came to sit at the outside tables for the ~50minutes we were there. Wouldn’t return.

Terrible customer service - had to ask for water and drinks menu after waiting 25mins after being seated. Waved at female waitress who ignored me and went to serve another customer. Proceeded to wave down male staff member who ended up coming over with a lame excuse of being under staffed, told him glasses were dirty and yes could be dishwasher use but ewe buy new ones!! Neither of the two had any urgency to walk around faster which you would think you would do when your under the pump. The only good thing was the food so lucky for them they have great chefs and my guests said not to worry bout it or we wouldn't of paid the full $400 bill

Best destination near the airport! Excellent service! Awesome flavours. Yummy Cajun chicken salad, if a bit spicier than my normal. Server brought plenty of yummy yoghurt to quench the burn. Lunch survival is cost effective for such a nice atmosphere. Extensive menu. Indoor and outdoor covered seating options.

Food was great but completely forgot my main course. When your seeing how great the same meal looks like as you pass each along then your own doesn’t turn up isn’t good. Also multiple phone calls to adjust booking time never answered, message left and no return call. No wonder another table of 15 sat reserved and empty for the night. Need to get their act together.

Nice food. Especially like the flavor of the seafood chowder. Waitress and barman are both very kind.

I have been a few time and enjoy the soup or chowder. Wines are good. Food delights. Love the jackfruit and chickpea curry! Delish. But share the waffles between two.

The food was good. Long wait for our coffees to have with dessert. We had two new trainees taking orders and serving which explained the wait-time. Could have done with at least one experienced staff member on the floor.

I don't often leave bad reviews but our experience here was not nice. The good thing about the place, which saved it from a one star review, was the friendly staff, they were attentive and accommodating, but that's where the good stuff ends. The table was quite dirty, our menus were sticking to the table, there was a hair stuck to the table too and the table itself was quite tired and dated. The food took a very long time to arrive and when it finally did arrive, the burger which was supposed to be dairy free, and was delivered saying it was dairy free, clearly had cheese on it. Of the other 3 of us dining, only one us enjoyed the food. One of my dishes was the dumplings, there were 4, yes just 4, dumplings that did not taste like much but chilli, and I'm not someone who doesn't enjoy chilli, priced at $15.90 I think that's a bit of joke. They replaced the burger but it still came back with dairy and we had to leave to catch our flight and didn't have time to wait for the 3rd time. Pretty terrible on the food front, expensive as well as lacking taste and quality is not a good combination. It honestly felt like they didn't care that much about their cleanliness or food quality as the options near the airport are extremely limited so it's not like you can just go somewhere else. Needless to say, I will not be returning again.

Great place to be on a Friday evening. Very lively crowd. Good service by the staff. You can get a Jug of beer for $32. The food is simply delicious. Clean bathrooms. There is car parking.

Have dined here several times and have always been impressed with the food and service. Last visit, food and service were also great but made unpleasant by the male manager who insisted on berating staff and rushing them unnecessarily in front of guests. The timing of service was absolutely fine and did not need his constant haranguing of other workers. It made what should have been a relaxing start to the holiday quite unpleasant.

Absolutely amazing service!!!! Our server was so kind and really took care of us. He made sure we had everything we needed and happily answered any questions we had. The music wasn’t too loud and there was a tv with the sports channel on. The flatbread pizza is incredible - we had a pepperoni one and it was so tasty and really hot (in a good way). The bucket of fries was delightful and there were definitely not many left on the plate. We had thick shakes for our drinks which were lovely and cooled us down nicely. I highly recommend the smoked chicken cheddar melt.

Amazing food with equally amazing staff. Thank you for a wonderful seafood chowder lunch, fantastic coffee, that world class hot chocolate and a great NZ wine. Thank you also to our Waiter today, a friendly and efficient staff. Coming back for dinner and breakfast. Outstanding quality of food and service, just what we needed after a long day of travelling.

The food has NEVER disappointed. Just a bit miffed that I have to order the platters 3 days in advance, I often just go there on a whim. It's a bit cold inside at times and the loud volume levels make catch-up with friends somewhat challenging, so the experience is somewhat lessened. But otherwise beautiful food, clean premises, efficient staff.

Amazing place for a drink or a meal, great atmosphere and great Covid compliance. They have pretty good vegan options as well as heaps of tasty treats for omnivores.

The food at atmosphere here is too notch, really stands out as a place in its own league. Welcoming staff and polite, food is superb and the presentation is outstanding , has become my regular go to fro catch ups.

Beautiful setting. Felt 5 star but didnt feel pompous. Food was beautiful, tasty and generous portions. Loved the lambs fry with bacon and the pork belly. Honorary mention to our beautiful host Chris I think his name was, who made my 4 year olds birthday lunch truly memorable, and was attentive and efficient. Highly recommend this pub. I wish I took photos if the food but we were too hungry!!! 😀

1/2 km from Aukland airport tucked in under the Ibis hotel. Not many eateries open in this vicinity. This bar had good selection & quality food particularly the fish & chips. Happy hour is 4-6 pm on house wines a particular beers. (Note: 25% not 50% off).

Been to this place a few times over recent years and my menu favorites such as Spicy beef salad and fish n chips served on newspaper is still a hit. Place is cosy and lighting to suit. Would suggest an overhaul on the coffee, beans etc to warrant 5 stars. Otherwise great hub for locals to meet.

Really disappointed with our meals. My son and I wanted something yummy for a fun stay in auckland and we paid $53 for this... the salad was soggy and meant to be Cajun chicken, can't believe I paid over $30 for just the soggy salad. Thought the pizza was ok for my son only for him to throw up 3 hours later. Somethings not right in that kitchen, the standard is shocking!!

Didn’t expect much, but we were blown away with great service and really delicious food! Finished off with some drinks and cocktails.

A bit slow on service on Thursday 28 Apr...we went for lunch (9 persons). usually they are efficient. My regular Chicken Fettuccine was not as nice as from my previous dining. Wonder if they have a new kitchen chefs team 🤔

Had dinner here tonight whilst staying near the airport. Menu looked good which founded our initial decision to eat dinner there (compared to KFC across the road). We had the calamari and chips and it was excellent. Service was quick and polite. All wait staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, we don’t live in Auckland otherwise we would certainly visit again.

We had a very disappointing Mac and cheese. Overcooked pasta shells which were falling apart, minimal cheese and dripping in oil. When I asked for it to be taken off the bill as it was inedible the manager got very aggressive. Telling us it was our taste that was wrong because they served lots of Mac and cheese and nobody complains. Serving me bad food and then blaming me for not liking it? Not acceptable.

Pork belly was delicious and very tender. Wait and service times took a bit long but the overall dining experience was pleasant.

Nice interior with friendly and helpful wait staff. I ordered the salt and pepper calamari. It was ok, with chips that were ok and a salad that was ok but at a price of $39 it didn't meet my expectations. I watched the people beside me eat pizza and chicken Parmigiana and it looked ok. I'm not so sure you're getting what you're paying for here.

I tried a number of dishes between myself and my partner and they all were absolutely delicious! Generous portions and great value. I wish I didn’t live an hour away otherwise I would definitely visit regularly.

My wife and I were staying next door at the Ibis Motel. We decided to go next door to the Szimpla Bar. 1st thing we noticed was the relaxed atmosphere, not overdone but really tasteful. Waitstaff were great and so was the beer. I had the Salmon, the plate was very upmarket looking and tasted great. Wife had the pork belly but couldn't eat it all so I cleaned up. I don't usually like bread desserts but this one was awesome. Thanks again guys. Had a really nice time. Would highly recommend.

We had a great night here! We were welcomed and seated. The service was brilliant. Very attentive and so friendly. The food was fresh, hot and delicious! What a great atmosphere and decor - would definitely go again on my way to a flight.

Food was amazing, waiting staff were quick to take our drinks and dinner order. Food came out super fast. Dessert was quite a wait, and very loud in the restaurant. Very pleasant experience overall

I got a steak, cooked perfectly to medium, an egg and swapped my hips for mash potatoes. A beautiful meal, there was no greens though, not even coleslaw and at $35 I thought it was a little pricey for what I got. The chocolate shake was nice to. The waitress was friendly and was happy to make changes. It was quite busy, but we were all done in an hour. Not bad for a 2 hour stop over between flights.

Great chef food to die for awsome great service very impressed will be back.
