Food was excellent. Drinks service was hit and miss.

Simply superb restaurant! I took my family there and had a great experience compared to the other restaurants we'd been to. We were seated upstairs where the staff took real good care of us. They were friendly and very efficient. The gave us some special activities for the kids, so as to keep them engaged while waiting for the food. The food was delicious and was packed with flavor, compliments to the chef! I would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good night out with friends and family. Even if you live a bit away from Takanini and feel like a drive, then I'd encourage you to go there, it would be worth it. Thanks for your hospitality! Updated review since last visited: The service was ok, we asked to be seated upstairs but were told that they were full there even though I could see a few tables still empty standing below. The quantity of the food seemed a bit lesser to the last time. Overall it was an average experience this time, nothing very special.

Food and service was good for most of the night. Manager tried to refuse entry to our service dog and tie it up outside while we dined (which is illegal) and repeatedly told us it was because we hadn’t given notice (which we did a week in advance, I was in the room with my partner when she made the booking). The service dog was specifically mentioned when we made the booking and there were no worries then - thankfully the rest of the service team were more accommodating.

Overall, great experience. Service was great, food was awesome. I had ribs and prawns that were a little over cooked but I will still be back to get that platter again! Good value for your money. The photos really don't show how big it is. Keep up the great work 👍

My all-time favourite place to eat out in Auckland! Facilities are top notch and maintained to the highest standards: offering a warm, comfortable environment for all occasions; from exciting sports events to intimate family dinners, The Blacksmith does it all. Food & drink is consistently on-the-mark: super fresh, tasty, and served by awesome staff with excellent attention-to-detail. The wait times are also quite short, even during busy periods. My 'Go-to' is the Blasksmith BBQ ribs (half or full-rack), the Barnyard 'Meatlovers' Pizza, the BBQ Chicken wings w/blue cheese aioli dipping sauce, and a side of loaded bacon & cheese wedges. My only critique is the lack of a 'customer loyalty' service as I am confident I'd meet the criteria with my regular visits! Whether your looking for an exciting contemporary Bar to enjoy a big game, an intimate scenery to take a date, or just reliable Restaurant with delicious food for all the family, The Blacksmith Takanini is the complete package. First time their. Plenty of parking, yet still very busy to look for parking space. They accommodated our party request of a likely group of 10ppl, eating outside. (we also had x2 dogs with us.) Service was excellent & informative. She made us feel welcomed & comfortable. (I really don't eat out much.) Food order was a little more wait due to the large number of orders in groups at peek time. (1830-1930pm) Food selection was plenty. And when food arrived, it looked wonderful, plenty & delicious. No complaints from our party. Would DEFINITELY come eat, meet, coffee here again.

Absolutely beautiful meal here tonight with my little family. We ordered the full rack of ribs, chicken burger and a kids ribs and chips. The photos don’t do the meal justice and the portion sizes are huge. I was really impressed with the quality of the meals and the size of the kids meal especially for the price, my one year old never finishes a meal and absolutely smashed this back! Will definitely be back!

Nice place. We were at a birthday and took a 3rd of the establishment Good service friendly people. Probably could have emptied plates a little quicker. I wonder if it would pay to have someone to look after these big group have a roving eftpos to take drink orders. Didn't like going to the bar.

Birthday dinner at Blacksmith.👍 Pre-ordered our food. Waiting time was 10-15mins for 6 adults. Food was delicious. Service was awesome. Thank you for an awesome evening.

The service at The Blacksmith last night was disgusting. We waited 35 mins to have our order taken after we were seated. My daughter received her meal 15 mins before anyone else - including the other kids at the table! Once we got our meals nobody checked with us to see if our meals were ok - in fact they barely spoke to us at all! Had to ask 3 times for the kids desserts to be brought out and then when we got our bill they had to stuffed that up and overcharged us $45 that we had to sort before paying. The food was lovely though but due to the type of service we got we wont be back and I dont recommend this place as when we dined here 6 years ago we had a very similar experience with shocking service. So disappointed to see this hasnt changed.

I have been to The Blacksmith Takanini many times previously, but this time was on the 23rd December, 2022 for our Company Christmas lunch. Food was so delicious and plenty for what we booked for, friendly awesome staff the whole time we were there and even boxed the extra food for us to take home. Everyone from work still talks about how great their dining experience was at The Blacksmith Takanini, thanks again and Happy 2023!

Food was good. Would have liked mork pork crackle. The table was wobbly.

Totally recommend it! The service, greeting, the look of the plated food, taste and temp, all spot on and delicious! It was for my husband's 30th birthday dinner and I'm glad we had it there. Definitely going back soon! We preordered the grazing platters and it came out not long after we arrived and it was just so YUM! I cleaned my salmon plate for my main, the others had surf n turf n pork belly. EVERYTHING WAS GOOD! THANK YOU BLACKSMITH😋😋

Everything was great! Love the atmosphere, comfy booth seats and of course the American style pancakes, washed down with a tropical smoothie for lunch (just wished I had taken a photo). Simply amazing! Looking forward to coming back for dinner and drinks.

Food quality was average, not like it use to be. Granted we did get our meals takeaway, but my wife specified some ingredients left out of pasta, but was still added. Still a good place for a casual bite and drink, will eat in next time.

Had dinner here for the first time 8/04/22 to celebrate my Mums birthday, and was so impressed with the amazing service, staff were so friendly and accomodating. The food was amazing! Portions were very generous! Will definitely be back again and again!

First time here with my partner & I was skeptical going into this place but I was blown away. We weren't approached by the wait staff but overall the food was exquisite. Pork & Scallops were an interesting combination but it blended well together. I had the Chicken Roulade & I wasn't expecting the portion to be large but it filled me up. Compliments to the chef for pulling off a french dish.
