Hurstville Lime Kilns

Tourist attraction Park

👍 Nice little stop! If you are looking for a nice pit stop or a nice park you can explore in under an hour, then this is your place! It was so fun seeing the Kilns up close and personal. They even had a nice step so you can peer in from the top one one. It would be nice if there was just a little more... People often mention stop,

Nice little stop! If you are looking for a nice pit stop or a nice park you can explore in under an hour, then this is your place! It was so fun seeing the Kilns up close and personal. They even had a nice step so you can peer in from the top one one. It would be nice if there was just a little more infrastructure and investment from the community in this historical site, but otherwise a great little tourist road trip destination to stretch your legs.

Not much to see here in terms of abandonment exploration, but it makes a fantastic rest stop on a long ride or drive. The history of the Kilns on the plaques are very interesting reads!

Very interesting historical landmark. Easy to check out since it's right on the road. Easily the best lime kilns in the area 😋

Great roadside attraction - good location, easily accessible (right of the main rd). Perfect place to learn a bit and stretch you legs.

Little hidden Gem. Has a picnic area with a bench and picnic table. There needs to be a trashcan at this place though. I would have loved to clear out the cigarette butts and empty booze bottles. Beside the lack of trashcan, if you're in the area, go check it out!!!

It is fantastic they saved something from 1849. For Iowa, that is very old and rare it is still standing. Fun fast stop.

This is a neat little place to stop and stretch your legs. The is a shelter where you can have a quick lunch, but no bathroom facilities. I wouldn't call this a destination, but if you are in the area it's worth a five minute stop.
