Going to and up the incredibly ROUGH road leading to the shrine is in of itself a very daunting task! Which may make one think, or conclude, that when he gave the order to execute The Great Plebeian the Great Opportunist wanted to make sure that the dirty deed would not be discovered, at least at the time, because.. The site was literally in the middle of nowhere! EJK 1890s style! (Ok, it's a stretch. Not exactly extrajudicial.. kangaroo court might be more accurate). But.. If you still want to pay homage to a true hero despite the hellish drive please do make sure that the gates to the shrine proper are open, as in not padlocked. Do this by asking "manong guard" at the first gate to confirm that you can enter the shrine, or ask him to accompany you there so that he can open the 2nd gate for you. Tip: in a sedan? Do Not Dare! Did I mention that the drive up is really really rough? πŸ˜‰

I love the park. The attendant is very courteous and fun to talk with. He shared interesting stories about the historical site. He also showed us the trail to the top of the hill. Most of all, there is no scattered trash. I just hope the government will maintain this lovely tourist destination.

What I loved about the place is the path going to the actual shrine. It's scenic and relaxing. The shrine itself is in not so good condition. I hope the authorities would improve and maibtain the shrine. There's no entrance fee by the way. All you need to do is to log your name and address in the security. The open grounds near the gate are open for camping.

A memorial site historical to the Philippines and its development. From the rebellion against the Spanish. Became the Bonifacio brothers executed here in this place in Maragondon. located in the middle of nowhere. a few kilometers long dirt road but so beautiful! Some places after the road are like a savanna with Acacia trees and animals grazing on the grass. a really peacefull place. Goverment takes responsibility and renovates this place of memory.

For a shrine established in remembrance of the selfless sacrifice made by the father of the Philippine revolution, how this place had been ill-maintained make you rather feel that the heroic deeds of Gat Andres Bonifacio, to successive administrations, is not as worthy of funding and attention as that given to other heroes. To have seen the shrine both in its past and present neglected state is just depressing. I am well aware that the shrine does not charge visitors with entrance fees. Even so - with or without fees, with or without visitors - a site dedicted to a hero with a stature no less than that of our national hero, does not deserve consigation to oblivion. It is also difficult to ignore how so little care and research was put into by the erectors β€” Please note that while the monument states that Bonifacio’s body was buried in that site on 26 April 1897, the same monument says that Bonifacio was shot and killed on 10 May 1897. Such patently erroneous data to be inscribed in stone.

It was very quiet in here. It was only us in the place probably because its a Monday. This shrine seems to be in a private compound, you have to pass by two security gates before you get inside. Part of the way going there was a rough road. Because it looks like its privately owned, there is an establishment inside the same compound which looks like a modern house or restaurant and it makes it feel like less of a shrine and more of a garden design. But nevertheless, the sculpture looks amazing and the place feels sacred still. If you close your eyes a bit you would feel how the Bonifacio brother's would have felt like in their last moment. Fighting for their country only to be executed by their own people. Anyway, nice place.. go visit.

Worth visiting to appreciate nature and history. The park is accessible by car with a bit of rough road. From the park's gate, you are required to register, then i recommend to either bike or hike to go to the shrine. The shrine itself have a separate gate. Make sure to ask the Security guard at the park's gate if the shrine gate is open.

A monument the martyrdom and heroism of Katipunan Revolution founder Andres Bonifacio situated at Mt Nagpatong in Maragondon. It needs a little sprucing up and relandscaping to make it a fitting tribute to the hero.

A must visit when you're within the area. There are signs of neglect hopefully it gets renovated soon. A great trail for MTB riders :) Most of the road going there is still not cemented.

The shrine and park itself is amazing I would not have thought something like that was at a place as remote as this. The challenge is how to get here as there is several kilometers of rough road with rare public transpo. Own vehicle is advised or up to 2 hours of walk must be expected.

It's a wonderful place to be reminded of how much Bonifacio loved our country. It's a pity it was raining at some point. We had to leave our van before the river and hiked towards the shrine. We lost time to be able to walk at the ecopark. We are looking forward to the rehabilitation of the roads and the pavillon.
