15 minutes before the gym closes the stuff turn on the ceiling fans to drive members out of the gym. It is not safe because if a ball hits the fan it can reflect and hit someone. The management should define safety policies and train the stuff to follow them. The ceiling fans are huge, ugly, and inefficient. They do not take the inside air out of the building but instead they circulate it inside. These fans should. be replaced with a good quality AC units.

YMCA Woburn, Worse website! Not user friendly. I was looking for activities so that I can subscribe and enrol my kids. Bunch of paragraphs...your kids have potential blah, blah. They want you to register before you even see what's available. Bye!

Not family friendly at all. My 7 y.o was so disappointed after our "tour" that he almost cried. Except for "family swim" at the tiniest shallow area (the "deep end" is to his neck and gets shallower about 3 feet to the side) there's nothing there he could do: no free gym, no family play room, no open rock climbing, no playground, no kid friendly drop in classes (only limited options to sign up for for additional charge!!!!). What is the point to pay family membership if we still have to pay for any activity he could participate? And his choices are: basketball (not interested), rock climbing (they don't teach you, only watch you and help with putting on a harness), swimming (but they won't test your kid who can sort of swim, but has no official training and lacks technique, yet you have no idea what "level" your child is actually at). The gym itself is Ok at best. Very small work out area. Tried zumba class, but there's no air conditioner in the studio, so it felt like we were in a sauna. Not a pleasant experience. The showers in the girls locker room (and women's) are dingy. There's also no communication whatsoever. Front desk never has answers (had questions about the camp, they couldn't connect me with anyone, nor did they know the correct number to call). Had question about the make up for a "paid" activity that was cancelled due to building losing power, got a run around three times before eventually just gave up. Hours aren't great either, I prefer to work out at night, but they close by 9:30. Classes are only available in the morning or during the day, so unless you are retired, stay at home person, or an early bird (and I mean yoga at 6am), you'r shot out of luck. Overall, very disappointing. Wanted to add: the rock climbing instructor is great. Super friendly and awesome with kids. We once showed up ready for class when in reality classes ended the previous week and he saw the disappointment in my son's face and offered to go climbing with him! It was so kind and thoughtful of him! We were very grateful! It's just unfortunate that our overall experience with YMCA as a whole is not so great.

I would like to give them negative score if possible!! It is a toxic place to kids! Today a male staff/lifeguard had extremely terrible attitude toward my 9-yr old son at the swimming pool. When my son was having the test in order to get a permit to enter the pool, a tall senior adult swam by. To avoid body interaction, my polite son immediately pulled over to the side to give space to the senior swimmer. So, the test was of course interrupted. I requested a retest, however, the staff declined it without thinking. I asked again and hoped them understand the incident and give the boy another opportunity. I was declined again firmly. His attitude and his staring eyes scared me. My son’s feeling was hurt badly because as a swim team member and he had passed similar tests in many different circumstances. He just wanted to have a retest to prove he can do it and join his friends in the pool. But no matter how I try, he just left us his ice-cold face. No more YMCA north suburban!! Toxic to kids!

Not for families. I go here cuz I’m used to it and it used to be good. But honestly? It’s for rich people who want to pay for classes or participate in Happenings. Took my 4 year old nephew on a tour last week… “Oh that pool? No that’s for rich people who pay for lessons. It’s never open on the weekend except during nap time. That playroom behind glass? No you can’t go in. it’s hardly ever staffed. But anyways every kid in our neighborhood cries at the idea of being left at this branch so you aren’t missing much. Plus they ripped out the little playground. Oh yeah they ripped out the big playground too. And closed the mat room down so forget about a nice soft play free area. And got rid of towels, free or pay per use- Nada. That rock wall? I mean technically it probably opens, but it’s rare.” They are spending a huge amount for new cardio machines, but don’t care to provide any space where a parent could just play with a kid. It’s all about the money and the stats and shiny ego. If your visit isn’t filler for a spreadsheet about Programs, don’t bother. I hear other branches have pools with ample family friendly free swim at all hours, Childwatch that kids actually tolerate, maybe open gym, and mat rooms, playgrounds that haven’t been ripped out, showers that don’t clank and drip and run cold, towels…well you get the idea. With any luck the current management will move on up and out and make room for someone who understands not every moment must be monetized.

It's really a good facility..you have many sports to play with their schedule..ample of weights to use, also there is one separate room for exercise and they have weight there as well..pretty nice place for kids to play as well, they do have small climbing wall for kids..large parking space at the back.. It's really a great place for people from any age group..

A pretty unprofessional place. My husband lost his headphones there, the next day a staff member said he found them and knew they were my husband's so he put them in the lost and found. The next day, a different employee gave my husband's headphones away to somebody else. There has been 0 accountability for this and we have called and stopped at the front desk to resolve this for WEEKS. We keep gettibg told that they are going to review the cameras but nothing. Weeks later. And the woman who gave away the headphones doesn't even remember who she gave them to. The situation was handled very carelessly and nobody has done anything to help us. The YMCA needs to either track down the headphones, get us new ones, or give us a few months of free membership. We have also had countless uncomfortable encounters with the staff here and we are wondering if there is more to this situation than we are aware of. My family and I do not recommend this location.

Paid for a family membership. We didn't use it once. Walked into cancel membership, they "lost" my paperwork and have continued to change us for a place we don't use. Their processes for canceling are a mess. It's seems teenagers are in control of all communication and the one person in charge seemed helpless to do anything. Unless your a teenager, lifetime fitness would be a better bet. They have working processes to cancel at least. I write this review because this still hasn't been taken care of. Moreover they don't use electronic receipts because of problems they've had.....so I'm supposed to find a receipt from two and a half months ago....you'd think a non profit would be digital by now...

The ymca today pool is freezing cold their literally a man shivering . The aqua class took over the smaller pool with no regards to the people already there. They dominate the pool with the class not giving anyone room to swim . This is not ok. So the schedule was for the aqua class to be in the larger pool they along with the instructor switched pool without clearing it with the schedule🙃😞😞😞 now I can’t swim!!!’

Don’t register your kids in swimming lessons. They are understaffed; 3 out of 5 lessons have been cancelled last minute due to staff and pool issues. Spend your time and money somewhere else. HORRIBLE

I highly recommend the North Suburban Y. It's very clean. Between the equipment, pool, classes and activities there is something for everyone. There are new things being added constantly. Best of all the staff and instructors are outstanding -- friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Never, ever give your credit card to the North Suburban YMCA located in Woburn, MA. Today they charged me $480 for personal training sessions. I do not use their training services, my wife does and she pays for them with a different credit card that belongs to her and which the YMCA has on file. This is the fifth or sixth time that they have charged me for these services instead of charging my wife. Each time we call them and they apologize but then a few months later they do it again. PLUS my wife did not buy $480 worth of services -- they billed me more than double! It is beyond frustrating. I have never dealt with a more incompetent group of people when it comes to billing, not even at cable companies. I even switched my membership to a different branch months ago in attempt to end the insanity but even that didn't stop the folks in Woburn from hitting me with bogus charges. My advice: If you want to use this Y, sign up at a different Y and then visit this one (they will honor your membership card).

Have a membership, use gym four days a week. Great friendly staff, very clean place. Good variety of equipment. One complaint is that there is only one of every machine and not enough benches and squat racks so i often have to wait for machine like most gyms nowadays. I usually go at busy times though. Quiet times no problem, went once at 8pm and it was empty

Really enjoy what this YMCA has to offer. Chris was also extremely helpful in answering any questions. Very clean facilities and the sauna is a bonus!

The YMCA is in my community & very useful. I am a senior citizen and I exercise there weekly with the help of Melissa. She’s encouraging & helping me to become stronger. I really appreciate the Y & her.

This is a great gym with some caveats. The swimming pool department is pretty good and managed by great lifeguards, especially one young man named Kevin who is very diligent with his lifeguard duties. He really makes sure that everyone is safe while they are in that pool. With the same breath, I can't say much good about the Badminton playing that I participate in once a week. There are some 20 players playing that game but management is totally oblivious to the fact that we are not provided with decent professional badminton nets but cheap backyard nets. Some twenty people petitioned for the nets but we hear nothing but silence from management. Not sure what the issue is? One of our good nets has been missing for one month and people are not very interested in playing the game. This attitude is simply beyond me but I hope management does something before we lose more people playing that game.

I love the North Suburban YMCA in Woburn. I have been a member since September 2022. I joined with my niece and my sister and we often go together. It’s a great space with good equipment. I enjoy swimming so the pool is great. There are so many different people of varying ages and I never feel judged. I am doing personal training and that is going well. I often go to the yoga classes and they are excellent. The Y has everything I need to meet my fitness goals.
