I noticed Later Alligator on my Maps "Explore" tab and decided to give it a try - I must say that I'm very glad about that. Located in a historic downtown building, the space has tons of character. The vibe is relaxed and many Wheeling Steel relics adorn the walls and other spots throughout the dining area. There are patios front and rear, so there's plenty of options for outdoor dining. I ordered the Strawberry Brie Zze... It sounded so good - fresh strawberries, basil, Brie and deli turkey with jalapeno strawberry jelly. It arrived at the table hot and fresh with golden crusty bread, lots of gooey Brie and plenty of turkey! However, the sandwich had hardly any strawberries inside and the jelly had no noticeable jalapeno kick. The chips and pickle were both good. I enjoyed my cocktail - A Long Island Iced Tea from thei5 menu. It was definitely better than a premixed drink, but nothing great to set it apart. Later Alligator offers a downtown location with lots of seating and dining options, friendly service and quality food. I'll visit again and hope that I can get a strawberry filled sandwich, upon my return! 🍓

The best word to describe "Later Gator" is quaint. The ambiance is eclectic. The atmosphere is delightful. The service is top shelf. Pleasant & professional. The food fare is delicious. It is unique in its design and exquisite in its presentation. They must be doing something right, they survived covid and have been in business 16+ years.

My boyfriend and I called in a lunch carryout order from Later Alligator yesterday and are so glad we did! The person who answered the phone was very patient and friendly. The exterior of the restaurant made it easy to spot and is so cute! Our food was packaged securely upon pickup. The prices were extremely reasonable for the food. I ordered the "Oh Buck!" and would ABSOLUTELY get it again. It was delicious. I can't wait to go back to Wheeling and eat from here again! Would absolutely recommend this spot to others.

Later Alligator was AWESOME. We went there to try the crepes but left with so much more. The spot has a unique look and history you can read about on the menu and throughout the restaurant. The crepes were AMAZING and the cocktails were as well. Lots of fun crepe combinations and unique cocktails to try for an adventurous eater. The Cajun coleslaw was some of the best coleslaw I’ve ever had. Please make a Cajun fried chicken and coleslaw crepe 🤤 Great atmosphere, Great Service, Great Food - only “neutral” observation is it was busy even at 11:30am which is great for their business! Just make sure you know they are popular and might hit a wait time or have trouble getting large groups in.

Nice atmosphere, wide variety of good food and fast attentive service. Easy to find location with lots of parking around. The memorabilia on the wall is also really interesting and I like how the menus include a lot of information on the background of the building and area. Menu has a wide variety of gourmet sandwiches and crepes as well as some interesting appetizers. We had the kettle chip and pulled pork appetizer, the pesto sandwich and the Brie and strawberry sandwich and all were well prepared and tasty.

Later Alligator has it all, great service, atmosphere, cleanliness, and food. The food is delicious, and they have a wide variety of unique drinks - coffee, cocktails, teas, and sparklers. They specialize in crepes, but also have many other options. Gluten free buns are available for the sandwiches. The Earl Gray martini is out of this world. The dining room is engaging and honors local history. The bathrooms are very clean and also have interesting displays. The ladies room has historic Kotex advertisements, and the men's room has historic license plates. There are t-shirts and mugs available for sale, and 6 packs are available as well. They offer a 10% veteran's discount, bring your ID.

We sat outside, on the second of july. There were some fireworks going off. very nice day out too. I got the "Blueberry hill" Sweet crepe, and a steak salad. My sister got a "salon says" savor crepe. My sister also got two drinks with some lemonade and with some alcohol in it. She said they were good. Had a amazing waitress. Overall 12/10 experience 💚

Stopped in for an early dinner while driving through. Crepes were super delicious, the mad tea cocktail was amazing. Will stop again on our next trip through!

I've spent years traveling through and to random spots in West Virginia. Later Alligator is a multi-faceted gem: good food, a history lesson, a personal culinary story, fresh ingredients on a thoughtful menu (not everyone can eat a hearty roast beef sandwich) and it's easy to get to from the highway. The See Sam Run crepe was delicious. Made with Alaskan Salmon, as described on the menu, it hits all the markers for a good crepe. The amount of salmon was generous. The bechemel was buttery, but not too thick or oily. The sprinkle of scallions complimented a hint of dill somewhere in the mix. I appreciated the proper tea service (my own ceramic pot & mug, perfect water temperature and a broad selection by Republic of Tea). I will remember Later Alligator and hope to return.

The Later Alligator restaurant is very cozy. The food was delicious. Our waitress was very friendly. They have a great menu to look through. The restaurant is decorated with city's rich steel industry history. It is worth it to go in the restaurant and eat while you explore and experience the industrial history of Wheeling.

Later alligator was recommended by the people of wheeling very highly. I appreciate the FB Group "what's happening around wheeling." I mentioned I was visiting from Arizona and wanted to highlight a few restaurants loved by the locals. Cindy was our waitress, and she was amazing to experience. Knowledgeable, kind, and personable are just a few ways to describe her service. The food was very delicious, and the presentation was great. I invite you to look at the menu and expect reasonable prices and great food. 👍

This was a great find on the first night of our weekend in Wheeling - it might be one of the best dinners I've had. There was a bit of a wait to get in, but down the street was a little Friday evening festival so we spent the time listening to the music and window shopping. My husband and I split 2 savory crepes (the Crepe Escape, and the Crepe Shoot) and one sweet crepe (Blueberry Hill). I would be hard pressed to pick between the two crepes, the flavors on both were amazing. For the sweet Crepe we substituted honey instead of maple syrup because I am not a maple fan - it was absolutely amazing. The whipped cream was not too sweet and was a great compliment to the brie and blueberries. Delicious. We will definitely be back!

We went on a Saturday so it was busy, as expected but we were seated right away. It did take a while to get drinks and we were there for about 25 minutes before someone even took our order so we decided to get a small dessert to share and go somewhere else for lunch. We enjoyed our berries filled crepe, it was well made and delicious. The menu is a bit pricey too for what you get but I think you pay a bit for the atmosphere. We hope to stop back on a slower day to try some other dishes.

Cute little eatery. Have some beers and cocktails to choose from. Only got one crepe to split and a small side since we were going to another place to try their food as well while in the area. Will be back, food was really good, cocktail was decent, and the decor is super cool.

The artichoke dip is better then you can imagine. The beers were deliciously cold. The service was excellent. Stop in. You won't be disappointed.

Good food, great service. Really unique place to eat. Loved all the names of the menu items and looking around and the interesting decor. I ordered the last tango crepes with ice cream, which were delicious!

Very cool place to visit. Service is excellent. My server even remembered me from previous visits and new exactly what I was going to order! Food is fresh and tasty. Menu choices are plentiful. A must visit in Wheeling.

Can't say enough about this place! An eclectic mix of amazing foods including crepes and sandwiches topped with eggs. A creative mix of flavored drinks tops it all off.

Let me start off by saying that I loved the atmosphere of this place. It was very cozy, warm, and inviting, and the service was great. However, those were the only things I really enjoyed. We had over a 25-minute wait. The crepes were chewy and over cooked. The chicken tasted like over seasoned, frozen chicken, and was incredibly dry. The texture made my teeth feel like they were sticking together. The Mac and Rib sandwich was ok. I would loosely call it mac and cheese. My vanilla butterscotch hug was barely luke warm, and the tea bags were left in. The syrup in it tasted like chemicals. Menu is too large and overwhelming. Probably wouldn't go back.

Great atmosphere, fantastic outdoor patio (perfect for enjoying a nice evening outside) and cute decor. The food and staff were wonderful. We had crepes, the Deja Vu and the BBQ pork mac and cheese sandwich. Lots of great options on the menu.

A very unique eatery with character. Some place to try if your passing through or a transplant in Wheeling West Virginia. A delicious selection of sweet and savory crepes and other menu items. Also have vegetarian options.

I’ve been a couple times each year since Later Gator opened. Typically always consistent food quality. Good alcohol selection. I’ve noticed an increasing problem with gnats in their indoor seating areas the past couple years. Hope they get that problem taken care of so I can enjoy my time there without needing to swat gnats away from my food the whole time. Otherwise, unique restaurant, good service, and tasty food&beverages.

I love Later Gator -- it's an absolute Wheeling staple. The food is great, the service is good, and the atmosphere is awesome. There's tons of historic Wheeling stuff around and it's a perfect cozy spot for lunch or dinner. You might think you don't like savory crepes (or crepes in general) but you can't truly have that opinion until you've been here. There's something for everyone. Highly recommend one of my favorite places.

We arrived in Wheeling after a 12 hour drive and found this delightful restaurant at 9:20 pm. The savory crepes were great, and they a nice collection of craft beers. The informal, but imaginative decor added to the fun.

Fantastic find, the food, the folks and the place was great. We loved all the puns for the names of the crepes. Had the savory crepes sad we couldn't try the sweet ones. Another hidden gem were the cocktails, so good.

Very intimate on the inside. Kind of has a hipster vibe. We got the kickin chicken sandwich and some fruit crepes. Really enjoyed the crepes. The sandwich wasn’t very spicy at all but still good. Great place for some local fare in Wheeling.

The food here is yummy. Everything I’ve tried has been great. Crazy variety of unique sandwiches, wraps, salads and sweet and savory crepes. It is a small establishment with limited seating for a Very popular place. It is popular because it is very good. I just bought a home in the area and will be a regular here. Parties of 2 can get in pretty much right away. Groups of 3-4 may have a wait. Parties of 5+ need a reservation. When you check in be sure to let them know if you are willing to eat outside on the back patio it may shorten your wait. Our party of 3 waited 70 min last time because we wanted indoors. At 30 min they offered back patio but we wanted inside. They said if they had known they might have been able to seat some parties ahead of us outside. Previously we had no or short waits.

My husband and I are from NE Ohio and had been shopping in Washington, PA. we needed to stop on the way home for some food and I found Later Alligator on Google maps just randomly searching for a local joint to stop at on our way home. I am SO GLAD that we found this place. Their specialty is their crepes and I had never had a crepe before but with savory and sweet options I knew I would give them a shot. Best decision I’ve ever made tbh. I had the “All Hat and no Cattle” and the “Pucker Up”. 100/10. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. I am sad I didn’t get our server’s name but she was the sweetest. We will definitely be making trips back to Wheeling to have more meals at Later Alligator. They are very inclusive of everyone and I love that. Thank you for a great meal!

A superb experience was had by our party. It's a wonderfully quaint spot in the Center Market area of Wheeling. The walls are adorned with the city's rich industrial history, which only adds to this exquisite dining experience. Later Alligator's menu is a vast one, with dishes ranging from healthy choices to good ol comfort food. Even my picky 13 year old found the "Beyond Burger" very much to his liking and my "Pesto Chango" was easily the best meal I had on our entire trip. So the next time you find yourself in Wheeling, West Virginia, stop into Later Alligator for a bite to eat. You can thank me later! 😉
