I had a wonderful experience staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites, Altoona Iowa. My room was clean and the Bed was so comfortable, consequently I had a good night šŸ˜“ sleep both nights that I stayed at this outstanding hotel. The Breakfast and the service was great too. Best of all this hotel is only a couple of minutes away from the Prairie Meadows Casino. When I come back to the Altoona Iowa area this location is where I will definitely stay.

*UPDATE* it says whoever responded to my post was the owner of the hotel. So I called the hotel and they did not want to speak any further. So their comment on here was just for appearances and didnā€™t do anything and didnā€™t want to speak further with me at all. *** I wanted to change my reservation for 1 week later. The booking I had made wouldnā€™t allow for this because it was less than 5 days. I called the hotel and spoke to multiple people, the assistant manager as well as the manager. It felt logical to me for them to allow me to adjust because I wanted to come just 1 week later. The assistant manager and manager both told me they could change it for me but they wouldnā€™t. They had to stick to their policy. As a Diamond member, most of the time Iā€™m always thanked for my loyalty but in this regard when I needed some help they did not care at all. Seems like a horrible business model to get their payment for that night instead of helping a Diamond member. Iā€™d never stay at that hotel again - donā€™t expect any kindness or courtesy from this hotel management.

Room was clean and modern with plenty of outlets and USB ports. The bathroom was huge and I loved the walk in shower. Breakfast was good and the attendant was sure to keep things fresh and clean. Only complaint is the OJ and Apple Juice were a bit watered down but not an issue with other drink choices available.

Great location next to the highway with neat and clean rooms. Close to the race track, casino, and adventure land. Mattress were fine for us, but everyone is different. I would say these were on the harder side with a pillow like top and seemed newer. Hotel breakfast was what you would expect. The front desk could use a little more friendliness, our check in was engh, no "what brings you to town? Make model of car?" etc. We did get everything we asked for so no complaints just an observation. We will definitely stay hear again when we are in town next.

We had a quick trip to go to Iowa and we book Hampton inn & suites kind of last minute. It was the BEST PLACE and BEST decision. The rooms were FANTASTIC AND VERY CLEAN, their breakfast AWESOOOOOOME AWESOOOOOOME and the staffs were very kind, welcoming and friendly. Overall it was the BEST EXPERIENCE.

Newer property. Was clean, friendly staff and still provides a sufficient breakfast. Wished I was staying longer to utilize their fitness center. Note that while itā€™s still new and construction is happening around the area, there aren't many close by restaurant options.

Stayed here for a work event. The rooms were awesome! Huge and clean. The bed was a little hard. The worst part of the stay was that it rained and the window leaked. There was water on the sill and a/c unit. It didnā€™t rain a lot but the if it had this could be an issue!

Dissatisfied! For a 3-star hotel at MORE than a 3-star price, our stay was hugely disappointing! Beds were lumpy -we could feel the lumps and springs and did not get restful sleep that night! Walls were thin - we could hear people walking above and around in the rooms next door all hours of the night. Towels were cheap, thin and scratchy against the skin. Toilet was leaking onto the bathroom floor. Too ā€œgreenā€. When will woke companies care more about their customer's comfort and convenience than woke ā€œideasā€!!!? One bright spot was the complimentary breakfast food was decent. The attendant was actively keeping food stocked and available. The attendant was also on the ball keeping tables clean and answering customersā€™ questions.

Great place to stay. The hotel is beautiful and the room was clean. Nice staff on duty, too. Nice complimentary breakfast with great variety of food.

Honestly one of the best hotels we have stayed in. It appears new. All employees were pleasant and helpful. Check in/check out was super easy. The breakfast was good. Our room was spacious and clean. Great experience.

I have stayed at the Altoona location many times. Great staff. Brennan is a definite asset to hampton. He is very courteous and pleasant. The cleaning staff works very hard and does a great job. Even though it's right by I-80 it is very quiet during the night. Definitely would recommend.

0/5 if I could. We called on the road to book a room 3 hours outside the area. Confirmed that they took service animals and when we arrived we were given a very hard time from just handing the ID to them and clarifying why we were able to stay in Oakwood, Oh with the dogs the day before and in Rochester. After the "manager" and front desk woman's attitude we will not be staying at Hamptons and there should be some consistency since it's a chain hotel.

Pleasant stay, delicious breakfast, and super clean. Staff was nice but nothing over the top. Close access to highway and local amenities. Quick response from owner about a billing issue; friendly and helpful. Bed was kind of stiff, could hear noise through walls, and floor felt less-than-solid when the occasional heavy footstep was taken on it.

Absolutely loved it! The rooms were clean, bedding was nice and fresh. Fridge, TV and microwave were in good working condition! Bathroom was clean and well stocked with necessary toiletries! The breakfast was good. Cheyenne helped me pick a good room. Loved it šŸ˜

I didn't interact with the staff much(digital check-in and key), but they were always attentive at the front desk with a friendly way or hello and the hot breakfast was well-managed. Rooms...very well maintained, well appointed, and set up. But in this location...the walls transmitted vibrations like crazy. I could hear/feel doors closing 2-3 down in the hallway, it seemed. Also, as I was on the 2nd of 4 floors, I could hear every step of my neighbors above. Kids loved the place. I'm guessing there was a baseball tournament going on nearby. They were all over the place and their families. But, the hotel's breakfast was always full, never lacking in anything. With all the kids running around and hitting the pool as soon as it opened...that was impressive! So that was the only downside. Overall, my stay is what I expect and love about Hilton Hotels.

Had to get a room for a day so my kids had a place to stay during the heatwave while our HVAC was getting fixed. Didnā€™t have high expectations, so we were so happy to find that this hotel was so much more than what we were expecting. All new, friendly staff, lots of snacks and quick microwave meals for sale in the lobby. The indoor pool was small, but enough to keep my kids happy for a few hours. Glad we picked this location.

Do not stay here!!! Booked two rooms and needed to cancel one 48 hours ahead. Was told I could not as it was past the deadline. It gets to be a long story with multiple conversations with front desk employees and Hilton customer support the day prior to arrival. I was transferred to the hotel manager voicemail and did not get calls back. I left handwritten notes at the front desk and was promised Iā€™d receive a call yet never contacted. In fact while I was checking in attempting to cancel the second room (and being told no) the clerk answered the phone and turned away someone looking for a room that night!!! I have been a Hilton honors member for decades and stayed in thousands of hotels and have never been treated this way from Hilton, Marriott, Holiday inn, etc. This hotel has received my money for the nightā€¦ but lost a customer for life. This story gets so unbelievableā€¦but it would take too long. If you read the reviews you see other customers have had the same situation at this location. Be smart and stay away.

The place was nice. The lobby closes at 10. We had a large group and just needed a place to hang out after we got back from our kids softball game to have a late meal. He kicked us out every night at 10. We stay in a lot of hotels... this was a first.

Hotel was clean and updated. My issue was front desk employee. I am a diamond member and stay in the Hilton brand hotels every week. If your a frequent traveler like me donā€™t expect anything extra. The front desk didnā€™t even acknowledge this membership. Everywhere else they ask what floor you want and put you away from the elevator. I am on second floor right next to the elevator. Wonā€™t return to this location.

My family and I stayed at the Hampton Inn and suites in Altoona Iowa two weeks in a row because of back-to-back family events We were immensely satisfied with the hospitality, cleanliness, quality of the food, ease of making reservations checking in and checking out, the pool and the friendliness of all the staff. In my mind the most convenient feature was the ability to open doors using my phone through the Hilton honors app We stayed in room 212 which was the extra large suite, for a total of five nights between the two weeks We enjoyed free breakfast every morning and the quality of the food was great & there was a variety of choices to enjoy! While this is definitely not a ding in my mind, my wife did mention that she sorely missed having hash-browns or some form of potato, at the breakfast buffet! Maybe a bunch of other folks also think the same way and it might help to include hashbrowns in future! Housekeeping is available only once every 4 to 5 days and in spite of a long stay we did not get housekeeping in our room. With two kids, some spills were inevitable but I took the liberty of borrowing a vacuum cleaner from the front desk and I quickly cleaned up the spills myself. If you guys donā€™t wanna be that proactive then this may be an element of disappointment for you. however I did not fault them for the infrequent housekeeping because I think that is par for the course at every hotel these days in the post Covid world For all future trips to the Des Moines area we will definitely be staying at the Hampton Inn and suites Altoona!

Excellent place to stay. The room was impeccably clean and modern. The breakfast was hardy and area was clean and relaxing. The coffee is some of the best I've had.

Service people were awesome no question. I was there 4 nights. Most uncomfortable bed ever. Neck and back hurt no matter the position I tried. The entire room's floor was sticky like Orange juice. You can pee harder than the showers water pressure. Even with the adjustable head. The tiny pool was ice cold. When I say tiny I'm talking the length of a quad cab, full length bed pickup truck and about 12 feet wide with a maximum depth of 4ft 9in. The steam in there will make you think the pool is cozy. Don't be fooled. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Very Nice place! On the 3rd day I asked for housekeeping and he expressed that after only the 5th day you get housekeeping. I was staying only 5 nightsā€¦ what good? At 135.00 xā€™s 3 roomsā€¦ I thought you could get a fresh towel or trash takenā€¦ or checked upon. But, at my request they promptly cleaned my room that next day..
