I reached ED at 6 pm as my son was bitten by an insect and his leg was swollen and he was lymphing while walking. After completing the formalities I was directed inside the children ward where they did a COVID test and result is negative but still I am waiting. I see everybody else are waiting, there is a father and his son’s leg badly hurt, blood on his leg is dried and doctors/nurses are just roaming in the ward and chatting with each other. My son is crying because he is still waiting, my husband is waiting in the car because he is not allowed to visit inside. The nurse there has an audacity to come and ask me to make him quiet. I guess they have started irritating the patients purposely at ED, so people stop coming to ED. Nobody likes to visit hospital till it is not an emergency and do not have other choices. We are helpless sometimes because we are dependent on these doctors and nurses. This time I noted time and details of the doctors/nurses so I can report this matter. It is really a serious issue where patients have to face this long wait in the name of COVID measures. It’s 9.29 and still waiting. We can’t say anything to them because it is illegal to raise voice. When you ask them the standard answer that all doctors are busy at the moment and you will be attended shortly.

We went to the ED at 12pm because our son was not feeling well. There weren’t a lot of patients. I can definitely say it would be less than 5 patients. However, it came to 4pm and only then we were told that we need a urine test and blood test. I just don’t understand why it would take 5 hours or more to get things moving. Some of the nurses were very rude as well. The doctor who attended us was nice and understanding of our situation. There were so many staff but their system is not that efficient. If there would be an instance that there are many patients all at the same time, this hospital will not be able to manage because most of their staff were inexperienced.

Absolutely poor form by orthopaedics in Flinders Medical Centre. Had an appointment booked in for a certain time and after a 2 hour wait I get told it will probably be another long wait yet. Don't make bookings if you can't keep to them. So not only now did I have to book for another time in 2 weeks but I had to pay a nice little parking bill for absolutely nothing. This is an issue that is affecting my ability to properly work and play sports and if they can't keep to their booking times then maybe they need to find a better way to do things.

Absolute disgrace. Been here in the ED for 5 hours. It's now 2.30am. No care whatsoever.... just watched a man nearly die, they'd left him so long. Edit... we ended up waiting to see a Doctor for 6.5 hours - bearing in mind there was hardly anyone waiting when we arrived. There were many nurses on duty but not many working. As other people have said, many were rude and openly hostile and quite a few were having a great social time chatting and laughing... not ideal when they've been telling you for hours that you're next. Totally disorganised. I've just read the state government is concentrating on nurses. There was no lack here, just a total lack of organisation and, more importantly, Doctors.

Went to Noarlunga Hospital presenting with tachycardia (210bpm) for the second day in a row. Was taken to resist and told I would be transferred to Flinders as the Cardiologists there were interested in my case. I have been waiting since 7pm, and the nurses tell me I haven't been transferred because Flinders won't give an ETA on when they are willing to take me on. It's now past 1am and still nothing. Just left here waiting on Flinders. Can't wait to see the Stirling service they will give me once there may as well check myself out and get a referral to cardiology from my GP. Shocking.

I went to the emergency department at Flinders hospital because my eye was blood shot and sore after I booked in I was seen within 20 minutes, 2 doctors examined me and said I needed to go to the eye clinic in Flinders private hospital, being a Saturday afternoon I was expecting to go either Monday or Tuesday but to my surprise I was booked for the next day Sunday at 9.30 am, I was seen by the doctor and a follow-up appointment was made within 2 days. What a fantastic experience I had, quick professional and caring doctors. Well done 👍this is a follow-up post. Im sitting in the eye clinic Tuesday 12th September been here 3 hours still waiting, seems like 1 maybe 2 doctors plenty waiting to be seen. Further post, I was seen by the only doctor on duty he was fantastic, very attentive and caring considering the extreme work load upon this only doctor on duty, he was working non stop trying to attend to all the patients thank you for your hard work and dedication to your patients. They need help here! Mr Premier.

Amazing nurses, doctors and staff. I cannot thank the team here enough in the maternity wards who took care of me while I was admitted. These people are truly heroes with all the Covid madness in this world, they are doing an outstanding job and I'm so grateful to have been in their care. The facilities are really good here, as are the processes they follow to try and keep people safe during the Covid outbreak.

Extremely hostile and rude experience when entering the hospital by an extremely rude covid person when I specifically mentioned that I had a medical mask exemption, the covid martial when asked whether she was medically qualified became even more hostile towards me because she said I would have to wear a face shield. The other personnel she had with her were also extremely rude when I asked for help finding my clinic and told me to find my own way around the hospital. The Chief Executive of this public hospital should be fully aware of the negative practises that patients are experiencing when using a publicly funded important service, where patients are vulnerable. We do not live in a third world healthcare system and I would like my experience to be put into a formal complaint. The chairman of the hospital should also be made aware of this awful patient experience. Yours faithfully.

Came here three times for help in the span of about a week (with symptoms worsening on each attendance). Had bloodwork and X-rays performed on two of the three occasions, with "nothing noticed" on either of the xrays, but an "infection somewhere". Sent home on two occasions with codeine, without any solution to the issue. Two of the nurses in ED on my first visit seemed to enjoy openly mocking patients within earshot (myself included). Became so sick that on the third attendance, I decided to scrap the 5 hour wait time in ED, and just go private. Got seen straight away, with X-rays and other tests being performed. I was then told that I had pneumonia and a serious infection (affecting two of my organs), that was apparently "glaringly obvious". I understand the health system is under pressure, but people shouldn't have to rely on private hospitals to receive a diagnosis and treatment for something that should have been picked up far earlier, and ultimately resulted in my condition worsening significantly. Credit where credit is due, some of the staff here actually have a some inkling of what a decent bedside manner is. Wouldn't ever bother going back to a public hospital if you're sick, unless you're looking to waste your time.

Flinders has looked after our mother on numerous occasions and their care, attention and all round compassion has always been the best. They are an amazing group of people doing such a hard job in tough conditions but you couldn't find a group of more wonderful people from the people who answer the phone, the people who clean up, the ones who direct you to where you need to go and of course the fabulous medical staff. I wish the government would give you all the funds you need and the salaries you all deserve. Mum passed away new years eve and once again you were all wonderful under stressful conditions. Thank you to you wonderful group of people for everything you have done to support us and mum. Thank you.

Long wait, ignorant staff, old system, and basically whatever you need to be the worst in the whole country. My suggestion to you if you need to use the emergency services--》die out of pain at your own place! Not recommended at all! My experience: after waiting 5 hours with significant pain after midnight, I figured the patient selection criteria to visit the GPs is based on your hair colour and NOT degree of pain. Doesn't matter if you are an Aussie or not!

I was an inpatient for 10 days on 4SMG. The nursing staff were amazing. I was so well cared for. I had the medical tests I required and had the surgeries I needed without delay. I always felt that my concerns were listened to and acted upon. The theatre staff and recovery staff were kind and caring. Thanks FMC.

Stay away from Group practice birth support. A heartless bunch of midwives, they don't care. My partner was a healthy strong pregnant woman when she came to the hospital and expected a healthy baby and to birth as waterbirth. But They didn't pick up that is was a breech birth. They didn't check on my partner before discharge. They didn't check her wounds. They discharged her next day even though the baby was on neonatal under special care and made us feel like rubbish and beeing a pest. Nobody followed up on my partner while we stayed in the hospital still officially discharged. Now she has an infection at the stitches, has to undergo surgery and has stay for weeks in hospital. Stay away from Group practice birth support. Wipe the benches clean and get stuff which has heart and cares for mothers and babies

80 year old woman sat in ED waiting room after botched abdominal surgery in regional hospital. Sat in wheelchair for about five hours in FMC ED after being hastily sewn up by regional surgeon. No pain relief given, eventually admitted into ED and given a bed around 11:00 pm, seen by doctor around 4:00 am the following morning… Eventually admitted to appropriate ward where the specialist and nurses have been brilliant!

To Womens clinic, Birth and delivery & Postnatal ward 4C! As a first-time mum, the staff provided so much support, education and plenty of face-to-face open time for conversations. I loved the continuity of care towards baby, and also towards how mom’s recovery. I felt really safe, empowered and supported to transition into motherhood. The postnatal care also extended to my partner being a first time Dad. They provided plenty assistance with various topics, such as babies growth, health and breastfeeding, which can be trying at the start. The staff are very positive and extremely knowledgeable. Thank you, postnatal ward 4C for this incredible experience shout out to those who looked after Bronson!! Thankyou midwives ❤️

I reluctantly phoned ED due to a positive Covid RAT test, severe sore throat & sleep deprived. Due to public holidays, unable to access my local Dr or chemist. The ED male, on duty receptionist encouraged me to attend in a very professional & cheerful manner. On attending I had a 3 hr wait before moving in to a ED patient bed & then a 1 hr wait before seeing a Doctor. The care & support I received from the young Doctor & nurses was outstanding with a constant flow of information delivered professionally & in a very caring manner. The treatment resulted in a huge reduction in symptoms allowing for a normal night's sleep I am of course very grateful for the care delivered by the amazing ED staff.

mostly rudeness from staff & rude older staff in Ward 6 DC, staff making me wait often for an hour for even just the smallest thing, younger staff seem very kind & helpful, a couple of nurses that bully telling me to clean myself when i can't even reach a warm tap or walk, like are they serious? this one nurse threw the box of wipes in front of me, the 2 nurses are older nurses, they sound like they need to retire. there are dressings that need changing not being changed, the dressings are supposed to be checked and/or changed daily

Brilliant, understanding, caring, compassionate, hard working and kind professionals working within their limited scarce economic resources the Government has allocated them. There is never a slow day for these heroes who do their best in circumstances where financial resources and built environments should be at least doubled to meet current demand. Don't complain about this service. Save your energy and ask the Government for additional resources to ease these workloads before we burn these lifesavers out. We need to save these lifesavers by directing our energy to the Government of today.

Maternity ward failed over and over, ED Dr failed to do her job and almost killed my daughter and myself! Thank goodness for women's and Children's Hospital, jutt go there, skip Flinders unless you want to end up worse than you started Should fight for compensation, but don't want to be around those people, and spend time away from my daughter. The so called "specialist" found it easier to blame me, than find out what was going on!

Thank you for your care of my mum in ED last Saturday 6th Aug, late afternoon. She stayed in the west side first and moved to the east side for the night. Fractured nose, cheek & wrist after a fall while out walking. The staff were all very good and i feel that everything ran smoothly.

Extremely understaffed and extremely underfunded hospital. Possibly the WORST hospital in Australia and on par with third world world country standards. Extremely long wait times of at least 7 hours. You can potentially get better medical care if you wait it out with Dr Google and see your local GP the next day. However, in an emergency THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE THAN THIS GOD FORSAKEN PLACE. Ensure you take a picknik basket with you with lots of food and an industrial powerbank to ensure your phone lasts the duration of your exremely long wait. Some staff are ok, some are Karens. Avoid this hospital if you can unless you are on deaths door, and if you get stuck in the ramping maze, R.I.P. 🙏ll

Women’s clinic is a joke, Receptionist too busy talking to their coworkers to actually turn around and deal with the lineup behind them, I had a 1030 appt with a dr, And waiting a hour and still waiting. Who’s paying for my parking? You’d honestly think when your Dealing with women that are tired hormonal and growing a child, You’d make the appointments run on time, Absolute joke of hospital.

Cannot be more thankful for the nursing and medical staff. Despite a very busy night and high pressure every conversation with my daughter made her feel important and cared for. There were some long waiting times but this is expected at a hospital with not enough funding. The nurses in the Gynecology ward went above & beyond to ensure my daughter's comfort.

Come in with cardiomyopathy issues pain and breathing issues, if I didn’t ask for a cup of water I wouldn’t of got one, releasing me with chest pain and very short of breath, wow we’re did you get this specialist from. I would properly get the ambulance to skip flinders and go to the Rah. I have private health cover , wonder why I wasn’t transferred early, release me with the issues. Since I can’t write a new review so I’m adding to my original one, I thought Monday was the worse experience I had today 1.02.2024 just tops the cake , find out my heart played up due to having Covid 19 finally showed up positive, lost 5 kg 4 days still loosing it havnt eaten really really little since Monday , having Covid plus Cardio Myapathy on top, even the reception from my heart clinic told me to head down straight to emergency, guess what the triage nurse puts me in level 3 and to wait in the waiting room. Let’s put me out there were people are vunerable and pass the Covid on. Flinders emergency do you run a hospital or a circus, just wait you will get a response with a cut and paste response with an email or contact number (lip service) to complain to, and I can tell you I rang once to complain about a treatment my friend got , all I got was someone that’s well paid to give a non believable lip service

I have no faith in this hospital, they lost my records of ever attending there by Ambulance direct to ED. Excruciatingly long wait, sent home with equipment that failed me and the catheter still in my arm. The ED is so busy that hardworking taxpayers do not get the attention they are paying their taxes for. In saying this I have no option due to specific resources that I have to deal with them again. But I have to give Angela, the Surgery List Coordinator accolades as she is doing her best to assist patients.

Very impressed with fast treatment in Emergency when Triage saw low heart rate. Into Resuscitation and then Cardiac Unit. The pureed dinner I needed was fantastic. I had a pacemaker fitted next day then transferred to FPH. Thanks go to all the staff for professional and friendly service at a difficult time.

I was transferred from Southern Fleurieu Hospital to Flinders Medical Centre. My husband offered to drive me to save waiting for an ambulance. I arrived in ED at 4:25pm and was left sitting in the waiting room for nearly 7 hours. I asked the male triage nurse twice if he could advise how much longer which he made no effort to make a phone call to find out. In the end my husband came in and requested this to be followed up. I was transferred to Flinders Private as a public patient. When i arrived there, the surgical team apologised for my long wait due to them not being advised by the ED staff i was there. I received lovely care in Flinders Private however am left disappointed by the lack of empathy or follow up by Flinders Medical ED staff. My husband was told by one staff member that it’s been like that for the last 20 plus years-I can understand this when the staff in ED show no initiative or follow up.

Recently heard staff tell patients they are frequent flyers at the triage desk I didn’t think they said that to patients faces just rudely to each other it seems like they are getting rider to me the staff and after coming from the rah the place is run down and feels gross. I miss having my own room and I can’t sleep from other snoring patients

My 2-year old grandson spent seven hours in paediatric ED due to severe dehydration. His care was first-class and the staff providing his care were superb. Special thanks to Tia (area coordinator), Dr John, and to RN Hayley. South Australia is indeed very fortunate to have a world class facility staffed by a wonderful group of professionals. Thank you!

Phoned up to get some advise about transferring my very unwell father from a country hospital to what I thought would be a better option. Clearly not, the advise I was given was delivered pathetically. This guy definitely not wanting to speak with anyone on the ph. I've stayed in the private hospital and the treatmant was fantastic. The Public system is very clearly rubbish. Very disappointing and honestly shocked this is how you treat people Flinders!

Don't bother making a phone appointment with the neurosurgeons here. They'll call you 3 to 4 hours either side of your appt time and if you miss it, you wait six months for another one. The lack of care and compassion is astounding.

Idk where to start. ED is always overflowing. I've been ramped in an ambulance almost 7 hours once and on many other occasions hours on end. Most of the nurses are so very rude and the dr's are also. They won't listen to me at all even though I know my medical history and my own body and instead of listening to me they waste hours messing about only to come to the same thing I suggested they did at the beginning. Being a bariatric person I get treated so differently and the nurses and dr's are rude to me because I'm a bariatric person (I wasn't always, medication made me gain the weight so I can confidently say fast people get treated like dirt). They don't have any proper bariatric equipment like a bariatric commode, wheelchair or even beds most of the time which makes it even more demeaning. The dr's always put whatever is going on with me straight down to me being overweight. The toilets are always nasty 🤢. The food is overpriced. When I've been admitted to a ward I've had to wait over an hour on multiple occasions when I've rung the nurses bell. I understand our issue with not enough nurses but why is that the nurses that are around are so nasty? Seriously if you're going to get into health care make sure you're not an as* first. I have literally gotten to the point where I would rather die than go into Flinders and spend hours waiting to see a Dr whole being tested like dirt by everyone who is meant to be caring for you!

If you are going to do phone consults, it would be desirable to be within at least an hour of the time frame, extremely hard to juggle work commitments when phone calls are over 2 and half hours late, then expecting me to take a call on the bus home where everyone can hear. Would have been easier to have the day off and wait rather than much my colleagues and patients of my own around!

I would like to thank all the nurses and doctors in the ICU for the most outstanding care I have ever experienced. My husband had a major heart attack in Darwin and was flown to flinders medical centre for major surgery. It was extremely difficult being in another state while he was in this stressful situation. You have all been amazing and kind to me and I thank all for your care for my husband. It was never a problem for you to take my calls and there were many. You are all to be commended and I appreciate all of you so very much ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thankyou

Ended up in the ED with suspected appendicitis, but ended up being Meckel's diverticulum. Involved surgery & a few days on the ward. From ED through x-ray,scans etc everyone was professional and caring. I was so impressed with the level of care and skill of everyone I met. Don't want to go back really but everyone made sure I was looked after and fixed up. Can't say how grateful I am to them all.

Entered ED via ambulance due to chest pains..pain level 3to4..don't know how many times that question got asked..then I did CPR test and found I had covid..seems the rat test I got in the ambo was wrong..after a few hours in ED (10 hrs) I was moved to covid ward..I was examined and treated to the best and most professional care that I could hope for or expect. I was kept informed and explained of all relevant procedures..I spent 3 days in Flinders, not my finest hour. What a great bunch of professional caring service people we have holding our overworked medical system together..Thank you for being there and looking after the sick..your brilliant.🛌

my husband was admitted by ambulance to ED, then to ICU. When he got there all his running clothes were missing!: top, pants, underware, socks, shoes!!! Brynie at Consumer advisory: got nothing to do with us - ED admin. Kim at ED admin: we are looking in to it.... 4 month later: Neill at consumer advisory: got nothing to do with us..... ED admin: apparently still looking in to it.... So far: no explanation, no apology, no reimbursement! They are very thorough and still looking in to it.....now it's August! So what good / help is consumer advisory service? or ED admin?

It's actually quite terrifying to see how low the levels of staff and care has become here!! I was born in this hospital and couldn't fault it! So far I've been chased by the door man with me being 7 months pregnant and severe PTSD! And now I am unable to receive healthcare from Flinders because of the triggering behaviour and harassment by the people at the front door!! This is in fact illegal and negligence!! I will be making a formal complaint to APRA and the ombudsman as this is a business who is being discriminate towards people for their personal health requirements!

Had a fall from a scooter and was unable to walk. Staff got a wheelchair and helped me sign in. Nurses David and the others were so helpful as I was on agony. Seen to and X-rays taken promptly considering how long I thought I'd be waiting. Seb was brilliant in taking care of me. I used to volunteer here in the Cafe and Gift Shop and the people are still warm, friendly and professional. ED staff are honestly the best people, thank you for making a horrible experience (the pain!) bearable through your kindness! And the Ambo who asked if I needed help as I waited for a wheelchair

ER is a shocker. Had a fall after recent surgery and fell on my hip and felt spine pain. Long story short I have osteopenia and autoimmune arthritis as well as hypermobility. As well as known spinal problems in lower lumbar with slight bulging discs. After waiting all night for an ambulance and not getting one due to not having a life threatening condition I was seen in ER within a reasonable time. HOWEVER I had taken several pain killers to even make it into ER. I had made this more than clear to them. Where I was seen by a physio who talked down to me very condescendingly; tested my nerves/reflexes and sent me for an x-ray. He refused a CT scan or further scans and then abused me for asking for Mersyndol Forte because I had just had a prescription for Tramadol (which didn't help and was the reason why I was there). And I had recently had a prescription for Panadeine Forte (he said and wrote incorrectly on my medical discharge) that I was prescribed it 2 days ago but it was over a week and a half ago... because I had had 2 wrist surgerys involving a bone removal and two nerve entrapments released and arthroscopy. Fast forward to almost three weeks later and I have a small fracture on my L4 resulting in 15% height loss. Picked up on a CT scan. Would not recommend going there if you fall after surgery as you just get abused and falsely labelled a drug seeker.

Substandard in every respect. Way below 3rd world countries. Refused to give me the medication I supplied to them for angina, asthma, and 20 other meds I have to take daily. I booked myself out 48 hours after major surgery to remove a gangrenous hernia and a malignant tumour. They left me no instructions, I had no idea if I had stitches or when the dressing should be changed. I told the surgeon off for only removing one lymph node - he arrogantly said I was cured. I had to go to a cancer centre when I wasn't getting better and 4 months after the surgery I found out I had another tumour, it had metastised into my lymph node! It's neuroendocrine tumour (always malignant and extremely rare). And now they are refusing to remove the second one. But I had spilled a lot of blood in the (black mould) bathroom, and despite telling them about it, the blood was still there 2 days later. We had a blackout and they lied to the news crew saying they had generators for everyone -= we had nothing for hours. They need to be knocked down and rebuilt and everyone needs to be retrained. I still don't have an oncologist either! And yet I'm supposed to be starting medication or chemo, who knows when

Waited since 11pm to be seen, at 5.30am was taken in to be seen by a doctor, 7am and still not seen by a doctor and asked to leave the room and bed as someone else needs it. Absolutely shocking. One doctor on. We are in Australia and cannot receive decent medical attention. Disgusted and will never return here. Triage staff rude.

From the time I walked into AnE,, everyone was caring and went out of their way to help. Now I was sent here by my doctor, not in the back of an ambulance. The swift way I was seen to by triage and the patient manner of one nurse with a child, I knew I was in a great hospital.. Shame not all SA health facilities are like this place.

I really appreciate the staff i had especially for saving my life. The food was great. But people need to learn how to read the breakfast menu more properly. Almost everyday they missed my coffee and put tea. Some things that may help in the chemo ward though are. Can we please have more sufficient blankets. The air con is always on its always cold, the gowns we wear are absolutely freezing, we need proper blankets not just thin bed sheets. The blankets are very rough on our skin and not warm but heavy. Especially after chemo. Can we please have a shower screen or curtain by the shower at least i stepped out of the shower and luckily i had a towel wrapped around me as a random person walked in. Also i believe if 3 or more people are sharing a room the bathroom should be cleaned more than once also screens would be nice like they have in icu in the rooms There is no dignity space or privacy. I heard and aaw things i wish i could forget... sad things. Also bedside safes would be nice for valuables with a key card only for staff members and when people want their valuables they can ask the staff as my debit card was stolen. Warmer water in the showers would be nice too. Hard to tell in the middle of winter if its colder getting in or out of the shower.

I can’t get over how absolutely amazing every staff member is at FMC! We were looked after so well and the surgeons did a fantastic job of making our daughter feel comfortable during her very first surgery to fix her fractured arm. Can’t thank you all enough for such a positive experience during this scary incident and I will definitely be telling everyone I can about the staff at FMC.

Hi guys, I recently underwent a Parotidectomy and neck dissection with Dr Ooi and Dr Marshall. I just wanted to pass on a big thank you and my appreciation, to the entire team for doing what you all do, day in day out. You're all amazing. Thank you also to all who assisted with my experience from the initial phone calls to book my surgery, the actual surgery, through to ward 5B and transit lounge. The care, compassion and communication from the team were effective in calming my nerves and preparing me for all events to come. You all do an outstanding job. Really. Speaking of the team in 5B, to all whom crossed my path whilst I was there, thank you. I felt comfortable and listened to. I was at ease asking for assistance and had a few good laughs. I appreciate and value what you are, and what you do.

The doctors and nurses are great, but the customer service attending to phonecalls are atrocious. Lost my pair of glasses this morning after the food tray was collected. Told the nurses about it the moment I realised, and they helped search the room, my bags, and everywhere else possible within the ward. They then checked the food trays, and realised that the rack containing my tray was already taken back to the kitchen. Nurses contacted the kitchen department, and nothing was heard from them even after close to 6 hours. I then called the kitchen department's phone number, giving them my ward and bed number and asked them if they could check with the staff that collected the tray. Was refused outright, and told that there was nothing they could do unless it was returned.

I haven’t had a stay in hospital for 30 years and didn’t know what to expect. To the staff in ward 5D and the team that performed my appendix removal I cannot speak more highly of each and every one of you. Exceptional care. Thank you.

Everytime I've been to Flinders hospital, I've been extremely impressed with the kindness of the staff, and the treatment that I have received. Wait times could improve but that's got nothing to do with the hospital, rather the funding. I also know everyone talks down about hospital food, however I find it absolutely delightful, best cooked brussel sprouts around, lovely pudding and their shepherds pies are wonderful.

Great labor and delivery ward. OBGYNs and midwives were top notch. Saved my babies' lives both times I delivered there. The midwives are so pleasant to be around especially during long labors. There were some hiccups here and there with some staff (5 tries for an epidural placement for second labor - first labor was one try perfect results)... Worst thing was being served someone else's leftover food from Spotless staff - don't worry it was visibly leftovers I didn't eat it..I guess that's what happens when you trust such companies to provide a service. Flinders as a whole has been a good hospital with better and faster service than the RAH or WCH for example.

Full marks for the medical and nursing staff at FMC. Particular accolades to Eirona Johansen NP in A&E. The pop up hospital was fantastic following coming home. Allied health staff, particulary the OT, Tiffiany renewed my faith in the system. All the follow up care is on target so the system does work. Julie in A&E we thought you juggled the patient load like a magician. Peter and Eileen Willis

I had a medical appointment at Flinders Medical Centre today. I've never been there before, so I was a bit lost, but one of the friendly volunteers showed me exactly where to go. I was anticipating waiting for a couple of hours for my appointment, as it is a public hospital but upon arrival I was surprised to find out that no one was in the waiting room, and I only waited for about 5 minutes! Both the reception staff and the doctor were very friendly. Lovely and clean facility. My only issue is that I couldn't make another appointment on the spot (as one of the scheduled tests couldn't be done due to me having taken a certain medication.) - That has be done via the referring doctor. Which means a new referral and possibly waiting another 3 months for the new appointment. But apart from that, I'm very satisfied with today's experience. Nothing like I've experienced at the RAH before!

My mother is in FMC for the second time in 5 months, I’ve been with her both times she is very ill. Both times was a code white the A&E was full with waiting times over 8 hours, the ambulances were ramped with patients I akin to a war zone, it is so depressing to see the suffering, the government should be ashamed of itself seriously The staff at the FMC are miracle workers you see their efficiency and un flinched dedication under incredible conditions they work tirelessly I couldn’t commend them highly enough and also want to thank them for the excellent way in which they’ve treated my mum as a patient and me as my mum’s carer with respect and dignity. That goes the same for the Ambulance service and paramedics - far out where would we be without them - again thank you 🙏

Public hospitals often get a bad rap, but my experience of the ED yesterday made me very thankful for Australia's public health system. Sure, I was there from 10am till about 5:30 but in that time I had exemplary care: an x-ray, pain relief, a MRI and a diagnosis of three broken ribs. All delivered with care and in an expected timeframe. The only downside was the opening hours of the pharmacy which meant I had to track one down on the way home. Thank you kind nursing and admin staff and the treating doctor.

I attended Flinders Medical Centre A&E, on the recent public holiday, with a suspected broken bone in my hand. At every step of the process the staff were efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. I was in and out after an X-ray in a very short time. Thank you to the staff at Flinders for working public holidays and making my experience a great one.

UPDATE CANCELS Pediatric APPOINTMENT OF MY FIVE YR OLD NEPHEW A DAY BEFORE BY TEXT AND SAID ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WILL BE SENT OUT BY MAIL. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Looking abit disheveled bc of lack of sleep and nurse looks me up and down with a judgey look on her face and rolls her eyes. Honestly the nurses are awful. Trainee nurses can't hit veins and be disclosing personal information about themselves (that they take Zoloft, while forgetting to tell drs I need pain medication, put hot tea in front of my face nearly permanently scarring my eye, also forgetting to ask Drs to check my cervix which nearly led to the loss of my baby and when it finally was checked baby was about to be born her head was past cervix expected to deliver baby on my own and i was unessasarly on heavy painkillers for longer which led to withdrawal symptoms for my child.) Honestly completely unprofessional if they're having a bad day. Old hospital is falling apart while private is upgraded. Honestly if your overworked you shouldn't be working. And that's part of your training. Completely alienated by the nurses looking after my child, it's literally fd up. No information on breastfeeding just yes or no and then a pump sent to my room. Resulting in potentially life threatening mastitis. Along with completely messing up my mental health the social workers seriously need to learn some decorum or at least basic manners.

I'm really thankful and appreciative of the support and care provided to me by all staff at the neurology ward at the FMC, from the support staff, to the nurses, doctors and radiology folk, they were thorough in getting to the bottom of what was going on and worked tirelessly to help everyone on the ward. So thankful we have accessible healthcare, I know funding is an issue but so thankful for staff doing their best in often trying circumstances - know that you are appreciated and your kindness means everything!

I wish to pass on my thanks and gratitude to all the staff at the Emergency Department at Flinders Hospital after 2 recent visits with my daughter. One being New Year’s Eve and again on 3rd January 2024. The care and attention throughout both visits was excellent and she was seen to on both occasions in a timely manner. Thank you to Flinders Hospital administration teams, nurses and doctors and all the medical professionals involved for doing an amazing job. It is very much appreciated.
