👍👍 Had a lovely time at brunch at 1799 Prime today after attending Alfred Street Baptist church. My sister who has visited before made reservations and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated in a private room to celebrate our event. The food was absolutely delicious and the saxophonist was amazing.... People often mention good, steak, restaurant, great, service, delicious, server, crab, brunch, order,

This is a brand new hidden gem in Alexandria. I took my girl friend for brunch and was impressed by the feeling of how tucked away it was. You walk a little passage way to reach the front door and as you walk in the host and violinist was playing cover songs. We were seated outside by request and we dined some of the finest brunch buffet around. I enjoyed everything from made to order omelets to fresh oysters and creamed spinach. Everything tasted great to us. Our server was exceptional and the quality of the care and attention makes us want to come back. We also loved the art mural in the courtyard as well. We thank 1799 prime for making our Sunday brunch a memorable one.

My sister who has visited before made reservations and we were pleasantly surprised to be seated in a private room to celebrate our event. The food was absolutely delicious and the saxophonist was amazing. I especially loved the sautéed Brussels sprouts with greens, Mac and cheese, salmon and fried chicken. Our server was also very pleasant and attentive. We will definitely be back!

I attended an group dinner with my wife and this was our first time eating at this restaurant. The food was excellent but the service needs some improvement. I ordered the French Onion soup and the Trident entree which consisted of salmon, shrimp, and crab cakes over mashed potatoes. The French onion soup was full of flavor! The Trident was very delicious. The only negative was the service. We did not have dedicated servers because they were working inside and outside. But it is a young restaurant and management need to work out more of the kinks. I would recommend the restaurant for a dinner date. But I would not do a large party on a random night.

So we made reservations here. Unfortunately they are cramming seats into what should be a waiting area only. But hey…the pandemic will have folks recouping in whatever ways that can. It was only two of us and we hated our fishbowl seats. We were celebrating a milestone but that didn’t seem to matter to the host or hostess. We watched the hat policy and dress code policy be enforced and not enforced. Since we were at the door damn near, we saw it all. It was interesting. The food was great. Everything except the dessert was really good. We had a variety of food and the bill was $300 for two. We did leave with a little doggie bag but I guess that’s what fine dining is supposed to be like.

I recently moved to Va and asked for a nice brunch recommendation for my family when they visited for thanksgiving. This place was highly recommended and I am very disappointed. Here’s my honest review as someone who has traveled and lived all over: 1. Food: the food was average at best. On Sundays they serve buffet brunch and I tried a little of everything. The grilled salmon and brisket had absolutely no taste/seasoning. Thank goodness for the lemon butter sauce, it was the only thing with flavor. The grits were lumpy and dry, the fried chicken didn’t have much seasonings at all and the pieces were very tiny. The Belgium waffles were good (can’t really mess that up) and the made to order omelet was delicious! Best thing on the menu for sure. The French toast sticks were overcooked, the ham was bland and the first set of bacon I ate was also overcooked/burnt. The collard greens had too much vinegar, making them difficult to eat a lot of it (unless you love a lot of vinegar). The Mac n cheese looked good and was alright. Maybe a 5.5/10. The cold bar with oysters, spicy shrimp, fruit and salad was good, but who wants to pay $50 and only enjoy oysters, fruit and salad? We ordered the mimosa flight and for whatever reason, each flight had 2 sips worth of mimosa in them. I wish I took a pic but after one gulp it was finished. Should’ve just ordered a glass instead, then I would’ve gotten more in the glass. All 4 tiny flights came out to the same amount of drink as one glass of mimosa but cost more. The crab dip was pretty decent. I did actually enjoy it and got seconds. The dessert bar had 3 items, none of which were very good and all of which were dry. Don’t let the pics fool you. If you like bland dry food, this is the spot for you! Service: the service was good. Our waitress checked on us often and when we asked for condiments and more drinks she brought everything promptly. The busers were constantly asking to take your empty plates (probably because the tables are so small there’s no room). Our family of 5 was sat in a booth with a tiny table. After we all had our first plate of food on the table, there was no space to eat and we were elbow to elbow. My overall impression of this place is that it’s more hype than anything else. Cute establishment, nice service, basic, mediocre, bland food at best. Not worth the $50 in my opinion but I’m realizing that everything in NOVA costs far more than I would expect. I’m always down for paying more for good food if it’s worth it, but this place is not.

We came here for Alexandria restaurant week with a party of 6 to celebrate my birthday, we had a great time and great experience. Cons: Because it was restaurant week they were extremely busy. While we were seated right away we were seated right next to the entryway and they were huge groups of people standing around waiting for their tables which did kind of distract from the ambiance a little bit. They also seemed very understaffed, our server was wonderful and she did a great job, she was just so busy we hardly saw her. For a restaurant of this size and level of popularity I would think they’d be able to have more servers on any given time to provide the level of attentive service relative to the price point of the food. Pros: However with that being said all of the food we ordered was absolutely delicious, we had a huge variety of dishes and everybody enjoyed everything so much. The appetizers were wonderful. The pork belly was exceptional and the bone in osso bucco pork was absolutely incredible, melt in your mouth. The desserts were great as well and we very much enjoyed our cocktails and wine. Overall it’s definitely on the pricier side but worth it if you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion or have a fancy night out. Definitely a good fine dinning option in the Old Town area.

The food was delicious. Specially Blackened whiskey shrimp and Crispy calamari were very tasty. We tried rib eye steak, salmon and chicken. All of them were really good. Staffs were very attentive, friendly. I highly recommend their seafood. Special thanks and good wishes for Mr. Jahmond. Thank you for everything.

Sunday Brunch has a live band with it. The place struggles to have a buffet due to the way the space is laid out. There are 3 stations spread out, but they make it work. Brunch is very popular there. So much so that before 1pm you only get 2 hours before you have to finish up. Our reservation was at 1, so we weren't rushed out after 2 hours since the brunch buffet ends at 3pm. The food was very tasty. Well seasoned. I really enjoyed the steammed shrimp. Our server, Alex, was kind and attentive. The only item I didn't like was the desserts. They were limited and the carrot cake was dry from having sat out all day. I want to go back for regular lunch or dinner and order from the menu.

My new favorite steakhouse!!!!! All I have to say is everything about this place was perfection. The establishment, staff, music, customer service was perfection. The food was beyond delicious. We ordered the calamari, they also served complimentary bread with cinnamon butter (yum), tomahawk steak (the best one I’ve had) with asparagus and Mac and cheese. My favorite was the steak. It had the perfect crust on the outside and juicy on the inside. Highly recommend the tomahawk steak when you visit here. Drinks was also delicious. This is my recommended steak spot from now on! There are plenty of good and delicious steak houses but 1799 Prime steak and seafood is beyond good and delicious. This place is perfection! I wish I could give this place 10 ⭐️.

My husband I went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the food was fantastic. We had crab cakes that were all lump crab and the blackened rock fish. Oh gosh the Cesar salad was to die for. They used kale leaves. They even gave two glasses of ginger ale as they saw that we were not drinking alcohol. The ambience with music was so enjoyable and they gave us a beautiful anniversary card with the 1799 seal. Top notch service. We will definitely go back. The parking lot directly across from the restaurant was only $1.50 an hour,

A must have (again and again). The food, drinks, service and ambiance are all amazing. Nathan provided amazing service and Jay is so welcoming and personable. The lamb chops and crab cake were absolutely delicious! We tried a little bit of everything, including the spicy margaritas which were tasty! Even though it’s 5 star dining and the setting is classy, I had to pick up the lamb chops and indulge! Even chose the shrimp and grits to go.

A cute restaurant down a short brick walkway. It’s intimate/close seating inside but a great date night option. Service was good. We were seated in a timely manner because we made reservations. We tried the crab avocado tower which was underwhelming. It lacked jumbo lump crab meat and flavor. The sweet mashed potatoes were simple. The pork chop was cooked well. The fish was tasty and the sides complimented the dish.

The restaurant is nice but kind of hidden in old Town Va. There is a front door that takes you to a bar area, but the restaurant entrance is up the alley to the right. This was a little off-putting as you have to walk past the trash, which is hidden by a tarp. I went twice once for my wife's birthday and again for our anniversary. There was a live musician the first time but not second time. The food is good but you will be charged a $4 fee to change out sides even if the sides are the same price on the menu. The servers are very attentive.

I was so excited to try 1799, I always want to support local back owned restaurants. I went on a date, which is why I will be trying them again under different circumstances. Nevertheless, I do feel that they have been open long enough to not have some of the kinks they did experience while dining there already taken care of. Our server came over and introduced herself. I couldn't figure out if she was training or if the young lady following her was training. She continued to come back for about 15 minutes to ask if we were ready to order, and then once we finally solidified our entree choices, she mentioned that she had features to tell us about. When our food came out somehow, they altered the lighting in the dining room area where we were sitting and turned it up, and then it started blinking. It took them about 10 minutes to correct the issue. Also, behind where we were sitting, the servers must like to stand and talk, which is disruptive when dining. Again, the food was good, nothing that wowed me, however. I will try them again and order a different variety. I may also sit in the bar area to hopefully be able to order a drink because, unfortunately, the server couldn't assist with cocktails.

We were so excited about coming to this restaurant because we have heard about it for quite some while. My husband and really big foodies I decided to come for dinner and celebrate our special day here. We were left disappointed with our experience. #1. The service. Our server made several mistakes and still put these items on our bill at the end of the night. Mistakes that were made: we ordered the crab soup and he gave us French onion, we ordered 1 steak cooked medium and it arrived pretty much blue. He also accidentally brought another steak that we did not order. We told him we wanted our steak cooked medium, he brought it back to the kitchen and the steak arrived again medium rare. The outer layer of the steak was completely charred and was burnt- not very good tasting. I didn’t want to bother the server anymore so I took my knife and scraped the char off (see picture attached). The entire time he only filled our water glasses once, when we first sat down and completely ignored refilling them for the entire duration of our dinner. When we were ordering, he recommended the pepper sauce and told us he was bringing a taster, never did and then our steak just arrived. We feel that the embarrassment of the mistakes made our server neglect our table for our stay. 2: The food. Scallops were great, oysters were great, calamari was good, steak was a nice cut but was not cooked properly. I would not recommend the cream spinach this dish is not appetizing and tasted very sour. Overall, the meats tasted great but the side dishes needed more flavouring. Great atmosphere if you get a seat by the live music. We were unfortunately tucked away close to the bar. When we are in the mood for steak and seafood, we will think again about coming back to this restaurant. (The picture with the scallops was how the steak came out/ nice sear. The cut steak is how it arrived after being sent back from the kitchen burnt and medium rare)
