I didn’t want to leave a review because I didn’t want to be petty, but as I’m now in the process of looking for a new salon and relying on reviews, I thought I should. I went to this salon for almost 2 years and was generally happy with my haircuts. I absolutely loved my second to last cut. I asked my stylist to do the same thing as last time, a bit shorter, and showed her pictures. She nodded and didn’t ask any questions. She took less than 20 minutes to cut my hair. I asked for shoulder length and layers, she gave me a chin length bob with no layers. I was completely stunned to silence and said nothing. I think I was pretty clearly upset, but my stylist just wordlessly walked to the back room when finished. Except for maybe middle school, this is the worst hair cut I’ve ever received. It’s been 4 months and it’s STILL not quite the shoulder length that I asked for.

I normally do not write reviews this soon after visiting a place, but Gerald worked some serious magic on my hair and from start to finish, this was an enjoyable experience and one of the best ones I've had getting a hair cut! I just moved to the DC area a few months ago and have been trying to find my "place," and by "place," I mean salon that actually does a good job with my hair. This is always a challenge and some salons have a habit of not taking into consideration what their clients want, which is what my first DC salon experience was like. Right away I knew I was in good hands with Gerald who does my friend's hair. She recommended me to him and her hair is really beautiful and the cuts she gets always look fantastic. Gerald gave me Victoria's Secret style hair and did a great dye job. The shampoo ladies made me feel truly relaxed and the whole experience was friendly and professional. I felt like I was being listened to and that I was getting a high-quality experience. The salon itself is in Eastern Market which is a cute part of town. The salon is upstairs so it feels a bit secluded and everyone I saw who was getting their hair done looked AWESOME when they were leaving. I have found my "place" and I'm excited to go back!

I LOVE my new haircut! I have curly hair and I wanted a much shorter cut. With Kendra I was in expert hands! This woman is a total professional, listens to what clients want, gives helpful advice and feedback, and clearly knows what she's doing! The salon is in a small space (it's DC, so that's to be expected) but they keep it organized and tidy, and they get good light from the windows so it's not cramped or cluttered at all. Great staff, great experience! I'm so happy to have found an excellent hair salon. I wholeheartedly recommend!

This was my first visit to Michael Anthony Salon. My first treat was the shampoo. It was by far the best shampoo I've had in years -- maybe ever. I was impressed that no smock was needed to keep me dry. Gerald was my stylist. I don't quite have the words to describe how awesome he is. The cut and style is fantastic. I also appreciate getting me started on time and finishing quickly. Can't wait to go back and get my color updated!

Michael Anthony Salon is AMAZING! They took such great care of me for my recent appointment (and every single appointment I have had there for the last ten years+)! The online scheduling tool is so helpful to let you look at a range of dates and see what might work best for your schedule. So much better than a stressful call trying to listen to options and compare it to your schedule. My new hair cut was a massive transformation. We took off 12 inches of length (making hair donation to a kids wig non-profit) up from the middle of my back to now just barely grazing my shoulders. Wow the curls are loving the new short length and it is so easy to style. Really feeling like a rock star thanks the new look Collin gave me. I love it!

Today was my first time here everyone one was very friendly. My new stylist Adriana was wonderful I told her what I was looking to do with my hair even showed pictures but she went above and beyond my expectations. I will definitely recommend her and this salon.

I was a walk-in while in DC for Rare Disease Week visiting from San Diego. I had just got my hair cut really short and was very unhappy with it. It had no real shape and was hard to style. I had a couple fre hours and happened to walk by the salon. I popped in to see if they had anything open and Gerald graciously squeezed me in between other appointments. I can't say enough about my cut and the ease in which it takes me to style it now and OMG I get so many compliments. It was more than I'm used to paying, but is worth every penny. I plan to go back to DC next year for same event and will for sure be scheduling another appointment.

I feel as though this salon is very overpriced. I also am not happy at all the way my hair turned out. I paid over $500 and I walked out looking not much different than I walked in. The owner never informed me what he was using on my hair, or what it would cost. When he rang me up I was mortified. I won’t go back. The salon next door is better.

I have been getting my haircut by Da at Michael Anthony for years now. The salon is the best in DC in my opinion- excellent service, appts are really ease to make. I have a pixie and it’s really difficult to get that right but Da does so effortlessly. She can intuit what I want even when I can’t put it into words. I get compliments so consistently on my haircut that I have started keeping a stack of her business cards in my wallet. If you are looking for a pixie specialist, Da is your girl! Worth every penny
