I haven't been to Blue & White in over 30 years, but I will say when I worked across the street at the Post Office, I ate there almost everyday. I grew up in DelRay and ate there quite a bit... but after I transferred to another Post Office in the Woodbridge area I haven't had the opportunity to go back here to eat. If I'm in "The City" it's always after they're closed for the day. This place was always busy. All the different foods I ate there were great and the prices were very reasonable. I'm sure they're still charging reasonable prices and I bet the food is still great especially after reading all the 5 star reviews. I hope to revisit soon now that I'm retired.

So glad I worked day shift today. Making it possible to grab my favorite Chicken sandwich (salt, pepper , and red all over). It's amazing how full I was after only 1 sandwich. No sides needed total cost under $4.25. Can't beat thr upbeat attitude from Charlie and the girls working today. One of a kind!

Rare authenticity in the year 2023. I came for a deal and left with a glimpse of history into one of the last of the old school mom & pop cash takeout lunch counters. I had the fish sandwich which I liked better than their fried chicken breast sandwich.

Comforting soul food at a price from a simpler time. Remember it’s cash only and you’re good to go. I’ll tip $1 per plate because dang everything is so cheap for what you’re getting.

Perfect dive carryout with food you can't get anywhere else. I had the pork chop sandwich (it's bone in so be careful - I knew this going in). Beans were good, too. Tuesday is chicken liver day. I have it on my calendar so I won't forget.

Simple place with a small but great menu. It’s cash only and they don’t accept cash apps either. Employees are always quick, efficient, and friendly. Can’t complain about getting a big lunch (meat + 2 sides + bread) for under $7 especially in this area!

Alec gets in at 4am to begin his chicken. You have to get their early because there is a perpetual line of faithful customers before he even opens. Written up several times in washingtonian magazine and Wash Post. Awesome fried chicken. Loved pork chop sandwich . Locals have been grabbing breakfast some for decades. It’s hole in the wall with affordable but succulent spices. Even something as simple as egg bacon cheese sandwich becomes gourmet. Love it. Fred.

The food is so good and soulfully flavorful! But, it's literally an in and out type of food environment. No seating area is available, and street parking can be a hassle since it's in the thick of Old Towns high traffic route. But, if you are a good driver, then I suggest you go get you a fried chicken breast sandwich with hot sauce salt and pepper and prepare to lick your fingers!

The food was cheap and delicious. Best of all, the staff was super friendly and kind. I originally ordered a la carte, but the staff suggested a combo which gave me the same amount of food but was less expensive. It was refreshing to see a business that wasn't all about making more profits! The only bad thing is that it closes very early, so I am usually at work when they are opened. I wish they would close later in the evening.

Blue and White is the best place in Old Town Alexandria to get a Cary Out breakfast or lunch. Anyone who does not stop and try out this gem is missing out on really great street food.

Very good soul food. Come early and not late. They close at 2:30pm or so. Came here 3 times after failed attempts, but finally got to try it. Menu is not too cramped with a thousand options. Very straightforward with their selections. I got the chicken breast sandwich and side of collards and corn. Chicken was smothered in a hot sauce with pepper, but not overly done. Wish I could have tried the chicken livers, but are only available on Tuesdays. Can't wait to try the breakfast options too.

Been going here since the sandbox days. They are so underrated and the food is always on point. You won’t be disappointed. Like the late James Brown “try me”!!! Again, you will not be disappointed.

CASH ONLY! Classic lunch spot. Warning the fried chicken sandwich still has bones in it. Very cheap.

Fast and friendly service. So far I have only tried the fried breast/wing which was flavorful and juicy. I do prefer a crispier skin so that is why I deducted a star.

Don't judge this book by it's cover. This is one of those whole in the wall places you always hear about, the one that makes those delicious classics like fried bologna, half smokes, porkchops, fried chicken and on and on. This is the spot breakfast to lunch but don't be showing up after 3:00 or you will be out of luck. Thanks for your time and have a blessed day!

My husband has been telling me about this place for years, and we finally made our way. We both got a pork chop sandwich, (salt, pepper, hot sauce) and beans… the beans were absolutely amazing, and the layering of the pork on the sandwich, *chef’s kiss* I’ll be returning every so often for lunch. This is absolutely a hidden gem, and I encourage everyone to try it atleast once.

So cheap, so good! This is the first time in my life that I am left actually craving fried chicken. The DMV's best kept secret by far!
